The pulled pork sandwich was dryer then a popcorn fart. Baked potato was way over cooked. The apple sauce was great. 2nd order was supposed to be pulled pork sandwich backed beans and maci cheese. What I received was pulled pork dryer then a pop corn fart wrapped up in tin foil, backed beans and a real small container with shredded cheese.

This place is well worth a visit. Great food with many different BBQ sauces to try. The Mac n Cheese is really good, too.

Great bbq. Had the pork plate that came with two slides of Texas bread and 2 sides. The pork was tasty and the sauce was flavorful. They had ran out of briskets and will have to come back to try it.

This place is definitely worth a visit! The folks here are very nice! Awesome service! The ribs and the brisket were fantastic! The pulled pork was good but not amazing. The mac and cheese was my favorite of the sides, and the beans were good, too. Great sauces as well. The peach cobbler is very good, too, as long as you like it extra sweet.

Everyone in the area has two things to say about this place: 1) "Best barbeque in the area." 2) "It's worth the drive." Believe them! The meat is of course the star, but don't skip out on the sides - a lot of them are made with the datil pepper (a point of local pride). I picked the datil slaw and creamed datil corn with my mixed brisket dinner. As curious as I am about the rest of the offerings, I'd have a hard time getting anything else if I went back!

Really good food! I had the mixed brisket sandwich and barbecue beans. They have plenty of parking and some tables outside with some in the shade. It was 40 minutes for seed inside but the takeout window was on a whole lot faster. It's a bit pricey but still very good. They have plenty of parking military discount and free little bottles of water. Very busy.

Best BBQ in town hands down. But that creates my biggest issue with this place, limited seating and long waits. It's not a place you can go to when hunger strikes because you'll starve before being seated with oftentimes 45 minute or longer waits. If only they'd expand their dining room this wouldn't be a problem. Outdoor seating is brutal in the summer and not an option.

Went inside to order and was told to walk around the building to stand outside by the busy highway with my small children in the August afternoon sun. The entire restaurant was empty. Will never return.

Went here for the first time tonight - it was absolutely excellent! The food was delicious and it was honestly the friendliest, happiest customer service we've experienced in several years. Will absolutely come back. Our kids loved eating outside, especially when the chickens showed up! Thank you!

Hadn’t been there in a while because the last time I ate there it was underwhelming. Went for lunch today and my son and we both got brisket sandwiches. He ordered mixed while I ordered fatty (point side). They both were chopped brisket and seemed identical. The Texas “toast” was more like non buttered barely toasted bread. Brisket itself didn’t have a ton of flavor and the sandwich would have been quite unpleasant without any BBQ sauce. Good brisket shouldn’t need BBQ sauce to be enjoyable. The datil corn needed salt. Drinks that we ordered were more like a cup of ice with a side of drink. First few times I went there I enjoyed the food but my last few make me not want to come back. Maybe it’s me but it seems very overrated for a BBQ joint.

I was able to order gift card for bro n law for his bday since I live out of town. Lisa the owner responded promptly via FB & Autumn assisted me w the purchase by phone. Looking forward to the visit. 😋

The barbecue was great, highly recommend you going earlier in the day than later. They do run out of food items. Like the datil cornbread I was so looking forward to. 😭😭😭 Anyways, I had the datil baked beans along with my datil sausage sammich. It was really good. Not hot, but datil flavored. We made the stop on the wsy back from St. Augustine and it was worth it.

I don’t know what keeps happening… I go to take a picture but the food flies off the plate before I can get a good shot…. Been back 3 times gotten the brisket each time Carolina vinegar sauce is excellent. (That’s what you see in the pic ) Banana pudding best I’ve had. They could work on the tea but it’s different everywhere you go , oh well . Mac and cheese is great and the potatoes and toast are great . Spicy corn bread is very good. Great spot to bring the whole family .

First time visiting Woodpeckers and I am obsessed! It is a hike for me to go here but I do not mind driving here, it is so worth it! Went here before they open (they open at 11am) people were already waiting and the hostess was super friendly!! she took my name so that when they open I will have a spot. while waiting there are some chickens/rooster walking and they are so cute! sadly the other rooster named tiptoe was nowhere to be found :( we sat at the bar. service was phenomenal! we got our drinks. I ordered the sausage since I have been craving for a good sausage and woodpeckers din not disappoint, the side that i got was green beans and the mac n cheese and both of them are great! we also had their desserts, i got the peach cobbler which was just okay for me but that's okay because the food here is great! this place is definitely a hidden gem out of nowhere lol, even though woodpeckers is far from us I don't mind going back here again.

New to Saint Augustine area from Oklahoma where they have good BBQ. After trying Woodpeckers we think we found a new favorite. Busy so it took 20 mins from ordering to get our takeout meal, but it was worth the wait. Shared the three meat meal that comes with 4 sides choosing brisket, chicken and sausage. All three meats were mouth watering delicious. Sides were Mac/cheese, collard greens, baked beans and cornbread. The Mac/chesse was our favorite, with both of us commenting it was one if not the best mac&cheese we have had out. Highly recommend this place and obviously a favorite cause it was very busy.

Amazing BBQ 30 min. outside of St. Augustine center. We drove here after reading about it online, and we were not disappointed. Amazing meat and sides, and big portions at very reasonable prices. The service was great, and the restaurant has a great mood. Easy parking just outside. We all loved it.

This must be one of the reasons they call Jacksonville, south Georgia. These guys serve excellent BBQ, smoked perfectly, with all the country sides cooked as if your mamaw made it. Go there or order early because they run out of stuff.

What honest food! The meats are great, no fuss. The side dishes are also very special. The coleslaw is great. We ordered to take home and I went inside to see the inside. The place is simple and at the same time very picturesque, with an authentic American feel. Informal, there are tables outside between trees. Everything is very good and on the outside we give nothing.

This place always makes the 'Best BBQ' lists for a reason! It is THE BEST. All their food is made with love. They make you feel like family here! The incredible food is just a bonus!

There is generally a wait to get in. The service is attentive and friendly. BBQ and sides have a unique spice that you aren’t likely to find elsewhere. I recommend the brisket and ask for it mixed (half fatty) as this comes out quite juicy.

The BEST BBQ in the area and possibly in the entire South! Ask for the FATTY BRISKET and get the dinner size. Worth it. IT'S SO DELICIOUS. 😋 Just leave some for me... lolol 😂 The customer service is exceptional. The staff is always willing to accommodate their customers so if you just ASK, they will take care of you. Seriously. The center cut pork ribs and fatty brisket is my go-to. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly smoked. Consistently great food, but they close when they are sold out so ordering ahead is a great idea especially during peak times. They also have a convenient walk-up window for to-go orders. My favorite sides have to be the Mac and Cheese (of course), collards, green beans, baked beans, and coleslaw, but they offer much more. Check their menu when you get there. Sweet tea is perfect. I get half sweet/half unsweetened. Delish. The sauces are made in-house and offer something for everyone. Leave room for dessert because what they offer is worth the extra calories. Trust me. Homemade peach cobbler, apple cobbler, berry cobbler served with a side of vanilla ice cream and of course, banana pudding. All exceptional! I've been coming here since they opened and never had a bad meal. The staff is wonderful and friendly. A little gem located under a canopy of gorgeous oaks. This is a definite favorite. Love the food.

In short: OUTSTANDING! We called ahead and scheduled a pick~up. Loaded up a cooler to keep everything nice and hot for the ride home. Well worth the hour and half round trip we made!

We stopped in on a recommendation from Captain Justin with Sea Serpent Airboat Adventures. BBQ was amazing! My wife got baked beans and said, “You’ve got to try these!” Best baked beans I have ever tasted. They offered a variety of sauces. I tried several. We waited about 25 minutes for a table for lunch, which was fine. From the outside, it looks kind of like a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but that’s what gave it appeal to us. If we are ever back in the St. Augustine area, we’ll be stopping in again. I want to try to the brisket next time.

Everyone raves about this place. My lunch was good but not good enough to make me want to rush back to it again. Waitress was friendly and patient when we changed and added to our order.

Wow- really reasonably priced mess of bbq!! I tried the smoked turkey, sausage, and pork and all three were delicious. I tried several sides and all were amazing. The green beans were my favorite. The portions are not skimpy! I am looking forward to enjoying this meal for a second time as leftovers.

Coming from a Texas native, this is a definitely a contender for some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. Do get there early or order ahead because they do sell out and understandably so. Meal: the 3 meats meal- with brisket, ribs, and pork. Sides datil corn, datil baked beans, mac n cheese, and collard greens Meats: The half fatty/lean brisket is cooked to perfection and the ribs are up there too. The pork was solid but the brisket and ribs are the star of the show. Sides: most places either have the best meats or best sides, rarely have i been to places that have both, woodpecker is the exception. The mac nd cheese was flavorful and cheesy. The beans were some of the best beans ive ever had, a perfect blend of heat and sweet. The datil corn is rich with flavor and fantastic if you love corn. And you have to get your collard greens. Desert: the only desert that was left was the eclair and man that really ended the meal perfectly. Sauces: all the sauces were amazing but their datil bbq sauce is the best ive ever had. Ofcourse, dont forget to ask the very friendly staff for woodpecker shirt or hat!

We were headed back from the mayo clinic in Jacksonville in not the best mood. We have never tried this place before. Wow, the food changed it!! Amazing food, amazing lady who took the order. I had questions as i have dietary restrictions. The lady was very helpful. The place was clean and food was by far a 5!!

Loved the brisket and Datil baked beans, although I felt like the beans could cook a little longer. The ribs were OK and I could do without the greens. Enjoyed the variety of sauces. Unfortunately they were out of Datil sausage.

Got there after opening for the day. The place was packed, so we got carry out orders & sat outside where there were plenty of tables on this beautiful day. BBQ is always excellent. Brisket available lean, fatty or a mix so I had lean & it was melt in your mouth tender. My sides were corn on the cob & fries. My husband's smoked turkey sandwich with fries was gone so fast that I couldn't get a photo.

They are Mouth watering Delicious. My wife and I went to Saint Augustine and drive passed this restaurant. It had a line out front longer than the world 🌎 Trade building . My wife wondered why the the line was so long . On our way back home from Beach 🏖️ We pulled over order to Rib dinners . The meat 🍖 was so Tender the meat fell off the bones . Super sanitized bathrooms . The food was 10 stars . Juicy tender and deviously flavored sauce . Stop in and see what you he e been missing. The best Ribs in Universe.

Awesome BBQ spot. Recomend gettinf here early if you want a table, the interior is small and fills up fast. We ordered to go, it was ready within 15 minutes for pick up even though it was a pretty large order (about 8 people eating). I personally ate the pulled pork sandwhich but I know everone loved the food they had.

Woodpeckers Backyard BBQ was a great experience,as this was our 1st visit. We were greeted with great customer service and the great socializing in the backyard feel. I think my favorite part was being up close and personal with the roosters.😊

We were referred here by another local business. Our company treated several of us to a lunch of turkey, pork, mac-n-cheese, beans and shaw. I can't tell you which I liked best. Everything was great and sitting at the picnic tables was like being in the backyard.

She gave us the best advice on selecting our dishes. I ordered so much that I needed a bag to go, along with my three desserts (including the ice cream with my apple pie, and other desserts). The food today was FABULOUS!!! Let me tell'ya, . . . Those cooks need their photos at the front entrance so we know who to say Hello, Goodbye & THANK YOU to!! For weddings, visiting family members into town, and other special events, this is the place to order food from. I have dined from California (West) to Italy/Germany(East) and Canada (North) to Puerto Rico (South), but the BBQ and seasoning in this location, THIS LOCATION HERE called WOODPECKERS is enough to (as one would say... but never do) slap your momma it is so GOOD! You might wake up in the hospital after momma gets a hold of you, but you will not say you are hungry. I left full, with a doggie bag, plus dessert and a refill of tea in hand. It was a GREAT DAY! Service was on point. Ask for Donna (Waitress) and a lot of napkins. I made sure my wife did not take food from my plate. She says it tastes better on someone else's plate. I ordered plenty (3 meat dish with four sides). You must be grown to order this plate. No pretending you are grown. The datil pepper with your meal will awaken your senses and help you feel smarter and refreshed. I'm not saying it "makes you smarter", but a foggy brain will be cleared up 'Fo- Sho! I endorse this place if you are serious about eating good food and getting your money's worth.
