Fantastic assortment of breads and pastries as well as a selection of German favorites for breakfast and lunch. Lunch begins at 11:15. 4 stars on atmosphere only because limited inside dining, but wonderful biergarten.

Cute place with outdoor seating and live music. Have only tried the bakery, everything there was good! German approved, it's a little taste of home 🇩🇪

The place was pleasing to the eye and welcoming. A Nice little crowd outside of cyclists, friendly customers. The German chocolate and carrot cake were ok they didn't match up to their visual aspect tho.

Food is overpriced, the deli and outdoor eating area was dirty. The baked goods looked delicious.

What a lovely restaurant and bakery. If you are looking for authentic schnitzel, this is the place. The bakery is unbelievable. Will definitely return. Often!

This review is long overdue. Years ago, they had absolutely the best Reubens around when it was put on rye bread Now they put it on pretzel bread, so it doesn't taste nearly as good. Very disappointing.

Lovely bakery and restaurant close to Howey-in-the-Hills. Good authentic German food, great pretzels with the lunch. Kitchen was a bit slow this Sunday, but of course we didn't go there in a hurry. [We were there in August 2024 again. The food was still good, but the service was a bit less friendly and the inside tables were dirty. Not all bakery items are tasty, but some are really good].

The bakery is the main reason to go there.

Love the chicken salad! Actually, I haven't had any lunch item that I didn't love! Great place to eat and relax.

This review is for the deli- we arrived and placed our order, got our number and waited…and waited…and waited. We saw numerous people get their orders that ordered after us. After 40 minutes we went up and asked about our order, they lost both my order and the separate order behind me. After 50 minutes they finally gave us the order, which was wrong. I gave up and started eating the ham sandwich, only for them to put the correct sandwich on the counter for me. As I told the party I was with, there’s no reason to ever bring me back here.

Best ruben ive ever had. Desserts are very good but website is pretty much usless.

My grandma loves this place and has been wanting to take us for a couple weeks now. When we arrived it was a little busy but didnt take long to get up to the counter to order and the cashier was friendly but things went downhill from there. At 1st we received the wrong order and i had to go back in and wait maybe 5 minutes to get the right items, a lady who seemed like a manager was ripping the cashier a new bhole over something right infront of a bunch of customers. My brothers curry dog was cold, my quiche was good but near the end of it was also cold, grandmas sandwich was good. I got a slice of flourless chocolate cake togo and while the woman serving me was nice a different woman came up to her and rudely asked why she was the only one working the bakery counter and stormed off in a pissy mood. The best part of my visit was the man playing classic rock songs outside on the patio, he was pretty good and it saved the experience from being a total bust. When i got home though I tried my flourless chocolate cake and was absolutely disgusted. It tasted old, dry and had a little bit of a refrigerator aftertaste. I dont like leaving a bad review for a place, usually i will just never go there again, but for what my grandma paid for our lunch and desserts the experience was completely unacceptable. After reading some recent reviews it seems like im not the only one who sees this place has systematic issues and I hope they turn it around because grandma felt responsible for suggesting going there in the 1st place. Stay clear of this place.

The bakery section is pricey but what we had was worth every penny. There is so much to choose from a decision is hard to make. We had lunch in the deli part and if we are again in the area we will definitely go back. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and very happy to answer any questions. It was a very pleasant experience.

I can finally say that I've been to Yalaha. We came for lunch and came with an appetite. The area to order for the Deli was in a separate room from the Bakery, so there was not a huge line to order our lunch. However, the room is a cramped space and you can't really read the menu on the wall until you are at the register. There is a very limited breakfast/lunch menu, and the portions felt small for the price. The meal itself was very tasty though. But still, I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here. The indoors seating selection is minimal with the AC working overtime near the Bakery barely making a dent in the heat. The deli side felt much cooler, but still only had about four tables meant to comfortably seat two people. The bakery is why you come. The selection is vast and literally everything looks good. Since it was our first time here, we definitely picked more options than normal to-go to try later. I'm happy to report that everything we tasted was amazing, and never too sweet. The Bavarian cream pastries are just heaven. The outdoors area looks beautiful and shaded and I'd like to return in the winter to enjoy that atmosphere. All in all, it's a strange location, in the middle of nowhere, but it opens up this portal to a quaint German countryside atmosphere with delicacies meant to bring a smile to your face.

This bakery is delightful. It has lovely space inside and huge covered space outside. The cakes and pastries 🍰 are scrumptious. The employees really uplifted me with their happy personalities and being so helpful and patient.

Service at the Deli was a bit confused. Cashier was taking orders as well as making drinks, etc . Very few tables so more intended for takeout. Chicken Salad plate was excellent as was my Frau's quiche/side salad. Smoothies (strawberry and passion fruit) were a bit weak, very loose consistency. Now on to the Bakery ~ Service was excellent, very attentive server. Bavarian Croissant as well as the Fruit Tart were excellent. Took a loaf of cranberry walnut bread home and it was wunderbar! Tasty and nice crust. We will be back! The German Flag needs to be replaced. One will arrive tomorrow via Amazon! Tschuss!

This is a bakery and deli with only 7 or 8 tables inside and a big patio area. The deli area has some great food. The bakery food is excellent and so is the variety. The dishes and sandwiches served in the deli are German and quite good. I had a Ruben on a pretzel bun and it's the best I've had in the area. I will definitely be back.

Great place to stop for pastries, and there is also a full deli to grab a bit to eat!

This is my first time coming to this place, the desserts are very delicious, but I ordered a cold coffee and they gave me a hot one, the person in charge who prepares the coffee was rude when changing my order, he started attacking the shelves , he pushed the hot coffee aside, the drink fell on the glass shelf and he rudely went to prepare me the correct drink that I ordered.

Pastries look beautiful but the taste is not outstanding. I also find it overpriced. Their bread is also overpriced. I now only go there if I have a major urge for their pretzel bread. Also pricey, so I don't buy it often.

Absolutely loved Yalaha bakery. We enjoyed some Streusel, Curry Wurst, and a delicious Schnitzel Sandwhich.

We discovered this place while visiting a nearby estate sale. The Reuben pretzel sandwich was very good, the bakery is amazing! Lots of choices, the cookies are delicious as well. Seems like whatever you choose will be delicious.

My real estate partner has been raving about this bakery and has been tempting us with samples. We finally stopped by on our own - Oh My !!! They have live entertainment Sat & Sun 11am-3pm.

Excellent breads, desserts and meals. We stopped in while traveling to a meeting and ordered foods. We had many leftovers and took them with us to our hotel room, where we could enjoy the food the next day. If anything, the flavors were better! Two days later we returned to purchase treats and foods that we lamented about not buying the first day. I’m planning a return trip.

The pastries are definitely not worth the price. I know prices have gone up, but this place is expensive. The quality of the food is mediocre. The apple filled pastries have very little filling as do the rest of the flavors. I came here before covid and really liked it, but it has gone downhill.

Went on a Monday wasn’t very busy. We don’t get that way very often we picked up quite a few of the desserts. Everything turned out really good except the Keylime tart was not good at all. I’ve had better frozen Keylime pie than that tart then went back to the deli to get, the soup rang the bell three times and couldn’t get waited on so went back over to the bakery to get my baked goods went back over to the deli. The French onion soup was nasty microwaved. It wasn’t like fresh cooked for the day. The chicken salad was awesome.

Absolutely Great. Best bakery I've been to in my life. We just came across it traveling to St Augustin. We stopped on the way to and back. I live an hour away but will definitely make the trip again. We'll worth the frive.

I've been here several times and they do not disappoint! Such yummy treats and really good bread abs rolls too!

Amazing Bakery with huge selection

Not sure what the hype is about. Everyone here moves like molasses. Customer service does not exist. I stood where I thought I was to order for five minutes while two workers carried on a conversation (gossip-I clearly heard-so no, it was not about "getting things done") …never helped me….no one else inside you see in picture because I waited for the crowd to leave. I ended up ordering a cold sandwich instead which took a half an hour to prepare and there was no one else waiting for food…oh and my food and drink came out incorrect…

I can show you how to make eggs. It’s very easy. Scrambled eggs should never have any oil used to make them. EVER!!!! Add one milk jug capful per 3 eggs and add any cheese you want. Stir them over medium heat in a skillet and don’t stop stirring until they are done. Leave them a little creamy as they will finish cooking as they sit. Oh yeah mix the eggs milk and cheese together beforehand. Cheers

There are not many places to sit and eat, but the bakery is wonderful! Best cannolis I have had outside of New York.

I’ve had plenty of German pastries in my and this ain’t it! I’ve lived in the area for years and I’ve tried almost everything in there because I’ve given it a few chances. Don’t get me wrong, the food looks amazing, but tastes like cardboard. Everything is bland, EVERYTHING!!! The prices are ridiculous for what you get, definitely not worth the money, time, or hype. The service is so slow that it’s almost disrespectful.

Wow! Can I just say wow! We've FINALLY found a bakery!!!! Beautifully full cases, many choices and all delicious. We bought several pastries and two loaves of bread ( which they offered to slice) olive bread & cranberry walnut. Our new go to for all baked goods!

Don’t miss going to this place! When you walk in the door, all you can see are desserts. What desserts … everything you can imagine and more. If you go on a weekend, there’s live music outside and lots of seats and tables. If you’d like some German food that is available inside if you ever get by the dessert display.

Who would have thought in the middle of central Florida you find an old world Germany Bakery! Your mouth will water and you'll find it hard to choose what you want so get everything!

A very disappointing visit. I asked for a sandwich on rye, was told I could only have a baguette. Yet, my husband was asked, what kind of bread he wanted for his... Ok. I took home a loaf of bread, I had asked to have it sliced. When I opened the bag, the bread was only sliced half way thru and ripped mostly into chunks. My husband's sandwich was just thrown together, the lettuce was brown. I don't know what happened that day, we used to love going there. But it's too far to travel for a disappointing visit. I'm sure, the owner doesn't care about my review, since the place is always packed anyway.

It is easy to find a parking space, a bit limited spaced to place the order, but you won't feel after delighting your sight with the variety of delicious options. Either you eat inside or outside; coffee options taste good. You won't regret any takeout.

Their pastries are delicious, worth the drive. Pet friendly at the outside seating which is nice.

This was our first time here, we will give it another try. We bought two items, the cream and caramel were good, not great but ok. The cake portion of both items was dry and tasted like it had been sitting there for a few days. If things taste the same on the next visit, then it will be our ladt stop here. A shame because it is close to home.

This place is not the cute and cozy German restaurant that we were anticipating. It's a little bit shabby. The outside of it is the cutest part of it inside it's really basic. However, They have a tempting display case of lots of wonderful looking pastries. Some of them taste wonderful and some of them are a little dried out and/ or tasteless. If you are gluten-free they have a gluten-free seed bread. It is dairy-free but it does have soy grits in it so for those of you who are gluten-free and soy-free you're out of luck. The breakfast/deli is mediocre at best and the service is unfriendly and slow. I wouldn't say they are mean, but you are not going to get a smile out of anybody waiting on you or a pleasant greeting. The sausages are supposed to be authentic German but when you read the ingredients they state hydrolyzed soy protein which is just a cheap filler. They are extremely non flexible with their menu choices. We tried to swap out turkey for ham on the ham abd egg breakfast.... and even though they have turkey, the answer was absolutely not. You would have to order a turkey sandwich and the ham and eggs in order to get the turkey with your eggs... ridiculous. We finally got them to just fry us two eggs. It was even illogical to them because they eventually apologized. Lack of flexibility, boring decor and mediocre food mean that I probably will not be returning anytime soon.

The Yalaha Bakery is one off those places you find off the beaten path, in this case by Lake Harris in rural Central Florida, about 5 miles from Howie-in-the-hills amd Tavares. Gotta warn you, if you have a sweet tooth, you are going to have to muster up some restraint here. All kinds of deliciousness is found here. The owner says they have been here for over 30 years and it is clear they know their craft. I had the tiramisu but it was a difficult decision since almost every known baked dessert seems to be here. Such a lovely calm atmosphere too.

I was not impressed! I have been here before and grabbed something from the bakery. That was ok. This time, we sat down and ate lunch. My bread was not soft. My friends bread was not soft. Regardless of the type of bread. I had a whole wheat, and the crust was hard as a rock. She had pretzel bread, and it wasn't as soft as it should have been. The tables were not clean. The ham was great, though. Overall, this establishment needs some work. I will be back to see if an update can be made for this review.

Stopped by off a motorcycle ride and decided to bring my wife home a treat. Waited in a small line for 15 minutes watching the children the management left in charge. They moved like snails. No customer service at all. Finally gave up and left. Don’t know who’s bright idea to leave these young ladies in charge but they desperately need training.

Food super, atmosphere great, people very nice

I stopped in on my way home to Port Orange and just bought a couple little goodies. The gentleman behind the counter was very pleasant and standing in line the customers were pleasant too! They were so ecstatic to share why they were there and what they've had and what they're going to be buying. That was fantastic!

Amazing! So many choices... I lived in Germany for years & this is the real deal! I'll be back for sure😍

Excellent Selections on Bakery Goods Awesome Food Incredible Customer Service

Stopped in for lunch and Sweets. Order a sandwich, bought Sweets. Waiting an Waiting....rang bell on counter..said ordering system went down.. Got my sandwich, in car driving, ate sandwich....Never had a mire tasteless, plain sandwich. Was not as I ordered...didn't have time to return, not in that area often.

We can’t help but stop here anytime we are in the area. We always get a delicious frozen Java chip latte as well. The breads are amazing and there are so many sweet treats to pick from.

Let me start by saying they were NOT busy- we were their only diners at the time of ordering and dining. If I could give ZERO STARS for service I would!! We ordered 3 lunch meals- their CC reader was “malfunctioning “ we were asked to reprocess CC to get our order.. when order came out, 10-15 minutes later, it was only one of the 3 meals! When the issue was brought to their attention it was somehow our fault!?!.. We were told they would have to process our CC AGAIN to order the other two meals! When the remaining food came out, it was missing the side salads (2 orders of Lunch Quiche w/side salad)… The girl running the register and taking orders completely ruined this dining experience. In 10-15 minutes she was not able to retain what we had ordered, TWICE with her…. The food was blah, quiche required an entire packet of salt and the diner doesn’t even like salt, the 1/2 sandwich was dry, plain, no condiments such as lettuce, tomato, cheese, mustard- just dry meat and dry bread. The soup was in a tiny paper custard size cup, it was lukewarm, and extremely plain. This was an Extremely disappointing experience!! My guests had be there 10 years earlier and said now they remember why they haven’t been back! It’s a real shame this place is so terrible as this area really needs a good bakery and cafe-this place IS NOT either!

We dropped by at the suggestion of my husbands coworker. This place is a gem! We tried the tiramisu and Black Forest cake. Both were delicious. We look forward to visiting again.

Friendly staff, decent menus selection BUT dirty tables, sticky chairs. Not once during our time there someone came to clean the area. My spouse jagerschnitzel was burned. My Reuben meat was dry (aside the slap of thousand island dressing) and tasteless and the German potato salad and sauerkraut were less than good. On the bakery side, the display of selections was great. I was told that the deserts were very good.

I would come here just for the baked goods because the food is just okay. Definitely sit outside because the inside is frigid but it’s very lovely outside anyways. You really can’t go wrong with any of the baked goods.

We were visiting The Villages and I found this German bakery on Google. Since I come from a German heritage city, I was excited to learn of this place. Our selections were so yummy and the bread selection is outstanding. I’ll be back before my long ride back to Cincinnati to purchase that cheesy pretzel bread. 😋

Yalaha is the only true German bakery in Central Florida. If you are in the Mission Inn - Howey in the Hills area, check it out. The pastries are delicious!

One of the best bakeries you'll ever find anywhere. Great looking breads, pasteries, cakes, and cookies. Delicious is a word made to describe all of it.

We had a bratwurst with potatoes and sauerkraut and a large pretzel with cheese and mustard. I wasn't thrilled with the cheese for the pretzel, but the rest of the meal was good. It was my fiancee's first German meal. She loved the pretzel, so we took her mother there the next week for her first German meal. She also loved the pretzel and several of the desserts we got to go.

It's the best german bakery I have been to in Florida since I moved here. They have strawberry Rhubarb pies, which I have not been able to find either here. It was awesome tasting as well as the chocolate crossaint. Highly recommend going to the place for lunch and dessert. Be prepared to wait very popular for lunches.

Best German Bakery in Central Florida!

Pastries are just beautiful, displayed well & service is good. I am happy to say they are quite yummy too.

I was looking forwards to the German place, as I am from Switzerland and missed European food …We also drove 1.5 hours just to see this place. Service was horrible. No smiles. ALL employees, 3 of them serving the pastry/bread area, were in a non smiling, non welcoming, tired mood, which made me feel really sad and uncomfortable. To me it’s very unprofessional. I am a nurse, work 12 hour shifts and even if I have uncomfortable/ grumpy patients, or work all night, am tired, I still have to be kind, smile, do my job and be professional.. If I pay $58 for few pastries, 2 drinks and 2 loafs of bread, a free warm smile, would have just made our day and would have been just sooo amazing. Some of the pastries were really good. We will not be back as customer service was a total turn off..

First time here and NOT impressed, customer service NOT friendly . Bathroom was a mess. Had an Apple strudel- Sour . Chicken walnut salad was ok. Cashier in deli NOT happy day for her it seemed. Sorry not coming back

Not just a bakery. Also a deli with meals for breakfast and lunch, as well as a beautiful biergarten in the back. A rare German gem in central Florida.

Great baked items, great atmosphere and the guy who took our order and rang us up was talkative perky and had great reccomendations. Others who worked at this facility seem tired upset and maybe overworked. Had a hiccup or two and did not really get the sort of response that would be appropriate from the owner but hey everybody has off days and I will still give the benefit of the doubt. Their commitment to their baked goods and the atmosphere is 10/10 and there is a reason they are packed day in and day out. The music on display was top notch and really enjoyed the experience.

Yahala Bakery uses inferior ingredients -do you even use Butter, Real Heavy Cream, Quality chocolate…looks pretty, but totally lacks flavor & quality. Tourist trap. People just don’t know a good bakery, far & few between. All hype would never ever go back!
