Best place ever. Me and my kids love this place. Sushi is always fresh.

Yen has been our favorite for more then 10 years. Moved 20 miles away 5 years ago and we still try to get there a few times a year

I have been coming here for years. Probably once a quarter. Staff is always nice and have a good sense of humor.. Food is great. Got the Philly and Chili set of rolls off the happy hour menu tonight. The chilled sake was great this evening. I will be coming back soon!

OK, they used to have a decent happy hour menu, but not anymore. It's an "all day happy hour" menu. ½ the items that used to be on the menu. Kinda sad out front too.

I had the spicy tuna tempura, and it was so good. I couldn't finish it, brought it home, ate it cold and it was still good! Service was great also.

What a great place and sushi is awesome. Moved from LA about a year ago and every sushi I went to in Arizona was horrible, I ran into Yen Sushi by accident and been coming back since. The place is excellent, service good and staff very friendly. If you're looking for good sushi this is the place.

Ok sushi but their spicy house sauce taste like cocktail sauce the short ribs n rice are a great hit but everyone has their own taste but with that said god bless them n wish them the best

I walked in and they told me I could not sit at the sushi bar because that's where they got their orders from it was completely empty. I will never go back.

Love going to Yen Sushi! Their sushi is fresh, delicious and moderately priced. They have a great happy hour menu! It’s usually busy during dinner and weekends but you’ll get seated. Highly recommend their spicy edamame and pork or veggie gyozo.

I've been here several times over the past 4 years. The sushi is always on point and a large selection. Drinks are reasonably priced.

The food was amazing as usual. I have been there many times and have ordered something different each time and everything so far has been very good. I recommend this place because it doesn't get crazy busy until after five, you might have a little wait then.

Been coming here for a few years now, not once have I been even slightly let down. The food is incredible, large food portions, and the prices are too notch. I don’t think anywhere else can beat the happy hour prices either. I recommend trying the baby octopus with a sake bomb- or the Yaki Udon!!

First time I had sushi was 23 years ago. For some reason I was not fond of salmon. I hate here at Yen a few years ago and tried the salmon, loved it. I'm guessing the quality of it at the other places was lacking. In fact everything i've tried here has been excellent. Not enough to convince you? My daughter at 3 years old proclaimed Sushi as her favorite food. Sushi. When I was that age, i would only eat tacos, burgers and pizza. We take her here and she prefers salmon sashimi (pieces cut raw, no rice), she will destroy an entire plate of it and unlike every other thing she eats, we dont have to keep prodding her to eat her food.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Had a party of 6, another person came after drink order. The waitress ignored the new person and never got them a drink, also would walk up to the table for one thing and run away before letting us say anything else we needed and then SHE NEVER CAME BACK. We had 3 servers total wait on us but seemed like none of them actually were over our table. Rolls are cheap and below average and the wait staff just stand around most of the time not waiting on tables. Also restaurant is so cluttered and messy feeling, and bathrooms are disguising.

I've been going to yen sushi for years. The food is great and reasonably priced. It's a clean establishment but lately the service has been hit or miss. That being said, I keep coming back here I would definitely recommend checking it out. JC

This is hands down my favorite sushi place to go to out here in Arizona. The price to portion ratio is very good and I have never been disappointed in a meal here. Everything is fresh along with quick service. Even when it was busy the wait time to be seated was very short compared to other restaurants. Inside is clean and nice with lots of Japanese culture influences in the decor. The chicken teriyaki roll, crunch deluxe roll, miso soup, and phoenix roll are all hands down amazing. The lunch deal menu is very affordable as well paired with good quality food as well. Can't wait to go back!

Best sushi in the North valley. Excellent service and very friendly staff.

We stopped by for the first time and let me tell you, the food was amazing. Customer service expectacilar. The waitress was Desira, and she is so polite and very professional and quick. Definitely recommend this spot. Great place

We love sushi and trying new places. This place has great service, and the interior is cute and spacious. The food was hit or miss. Bento box was fine. Good options, salad was not super fresh, but the assortment of everything else was nice. We got the tempura shrimp (yum) and veggies. Their tempura is spot on. Most of the sushi was finished with oddly sweet sauces. A slight sweetness in an eel sauce is fine, but this was too overpowering and almost dessert-like. Our chopstick skills are average, but the rolls were large and much too loose, so we had a messy experience. Glad we tried it. Not likely to return, but we would definitely recommend a bento box.

Yen Sushi offered a wonderful sushi experience with delightful sake bombs. The ambience was inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere, and the service was excellent, adding to an overall enjoyable dining experience.

Great food and service. They have a lot of options, but the friendly and patient staff made great recommendations for us. We didn't have to wait much to get a table.

I keep forgetting how much of a real gem this place is. Reasonable prices, good food and great service. We had the sashimi, teriyaki roll, octopus salad, and everything was absolutely delicious.

This place has great sushi, but the service is so hit and miss. I'm finally tired of it and not coming back. This time we got seated and then ignored for more than 5 min. Not even a "sorry, give me a min". I finally left when the table literally next to us was greeted immediately and served.

Almost perfect. The sushi is made quickly and with quality, even during a rush. The service ranges from excellent to poor. Some days the servers are very nice and take care of you when you sit. Sometimes they outright forget to ask you what you want to drink. One time they didn't bring me out water until after my sushi was done, I could tell when I looked over at them concerned (they were just talking to each other) they realized I was still waiting for dishes and a water.

It's great sushi, especially for the price. I recommend the lunch menu for a more budget conscious consumer. The bento box is a ton of food for 13 dollars. If you want a more fancy roll, my go-to are the palm springs, and three don't cry. If I'm not sure where to go for dinner, this place is ALWAYS a good idea.

Ok keeping it short! Amazing food and absolutely love the place! Been going for a long time. But BEWARE they auto tip 18% now since the last time I was there. I usually do 25% but with that, it’s a place I no longer will give tip willing anymore.

I always have a good experience here, I just love how it's quality sushi with nice servers and people. It is a little cramped inside but the food makes it well worth!!

Yen has been one of my favorite sushi restaurants for well over a decade. They have expanded over the years and the food quality has remained high quality. You literally can't beat their all day happy hour! The service is always good. The cute guy Zach with the braids and chains is always super welcoming, kind, helpful and packed full of jokes. It makes the dining experience a pure delight on top of the mouth watering sushi rolls and nigiri. The only thing that could possibly make this place better is if they had my favorite flavored saké: moonstone coconut lemongrass nigori saké!!!

My wife likes sushi so she took me I'm not a fan of fish but she likes the Phoenix rolls so I had that and a chicken bowl. But this young kid with braids was really nice saw him talking to people as they walked in he is a very cheerful person and always smiling when talking with customers. He even helped me with a cold sake called Kigen. I enjoy his great customer service and strong attention when customers need something. 10/10 service and 10/10 food I was impressed

Good place for sushi. The food is good here. Staff is OK, sometimes you get a friendly person and other times you get a grumpy and unhelpful one. Recently, they updated the menu and running some specials that are on display all over the place. They always have the TV with sports

Went for a lunch special with the kiddo. Was very yummy and decent priced deals. The salad that came with it was amazing! Service was efficient but not friendly at all. I don't think the server smiled once.

The food is always great. Our favorites are the crazy boy roll and Arizona roll. This is always my top suggestion when people ask about sushi places!

We are from California and have had sushi from some of the very best sushi in the country. I never expected this level of quality from anywhere in Arizona! Fresh wasabi! Great service and recomendations from Sung were off the chart. A most unexpected experience!

My hubby brought home my happiness, Yen Sushi...both kids were yelling SUSSSHHHHIIII! So Delicious 🍣🥢Unfortunately this is the last time I'm ordering Misago with it because they used to allow me to add it to my roll for a buck, then $2.50 on the side...now it's $5 for a tiny container thats only half full which is how much the roll costs. They're definitely into ripping ppl off lately which sucks cause I've been a loyal customer since 2013 and even stuck with them when they had their expansion and all their quality in their rolls took a severe dive for I think 2 yrs during that time. The food was awful for quite a while but I figured they were having a hard time with the bigger spot. They finally went back to making good tasting rolls but with how stingy they've gotten I'm starting to think about no longer giving them my business. If you nickel & dime your customers you end up losing them.

My husband and I just had the most bizarre experience on the phone ordering Togo food. We’ve been ordering from this restaurant for 5 years now, I have a gluten allergy and I have ordered rolls wrapped in cucumber such as the 911 roll. Well tonight I was told that the sushi chef is refusing to wrap my order in cucumber and that the sushi rice contains gluten. I’m blown away that there is rolls on the menu wrapped in cucumber and I’ve ordered for years my rolls wrapped in cucumber from this restaurant and tonight a chef refused. Insane and awful service

Noticed it seems busy every time we pass by busy is good for sushi means fresh has great food quality good prices for lunch specials run until 3 and happy hour all day. LG supporo $5.00 my crunchy spicy tuna roll $6.49 great octopus salad everything had great flavor wife had a scallop volcano roll it was $16.00 but smothered in bay scallops the sauce was great place clean and nice plaza is old and ugly but go inside you will find a gem large menu something for everyone they have a lobster roll will try next time

My favorite sushi bar closed down a few months ago. I have been looking for a good place. Yen Sushi has great ratings, and in my opinion the ratings are up to par. This is my new go to for 🍣. The wife loved it as well. We started with miso 🍲. We had a California hand roll, Philly roll, rattlesnake roll, and finished with the baked scallop roll. Fantastic. We did get there at 300 pm, they were not extremely busy. Food was out in a decent amount of time. If you are looking for good sushi, I personally recommend this place. Do not pass it up like I have. Like the book Green Eggs and Ham, "Try it, try it, you will see."

We went here for Dinner and the place has traditional ambience and the sushi rolls were really good but only thing we didn’t like is their fried ice cream, they have huge portions in a small bowl and it’s hard for us to eat it. And the fried ice cream was not properly fried.

Excellent sushi and Japanese dishes. Their lunch specials are really excellent and very affordable.

Shoutout to the sushi chef’s!! I hope they’re getting well taken care of because this sushi was amazing. Super excited to have found this place.

There's not much to say... Was just ok. Why no edamame at the bar?

Very clean inside. There is also outside seating. I had the ribs, very flavorful and tender. The service was fast & friendly.

Had a nice little dinner out with a friend. We went on a Tue evening and it wasn't super busy, so we didn't have to wait for a table. I started out with an order of pineapple sake, which reminded me so much of the pineapple wine I used to get when I lived in Okinawa, which was super exciting for me. We tried the steamed gyoza as an appetizer and had 4 different rolls. Everything had a great flavor and I enjoyed trying some new things like the cucumber wrapped rolls on a stick that looked like lollipops. If you're looking to try a new sushi place, I'd definitely suggest you give this place a try.

I’ve ordered sushi from here twice and am writing this review to remind myself to not come here again. The sushi is mid and nowhere near what I get at sushi style. I moved and that sushi place is a little far so I was trying to find another one but this place is not it.

I took my son to this place the other day. The service was really good. We both got a bento box. All the food was good, except for the sushi. The spicy tuna roll was super mooshy. Almost like a paste. His CA rolls weren't very good either. If we go back we definitely will not have any sushi items.

This place is special there's no doubt about it. As long as they keep ordering fresh and delivering the portion sizes they are A+ 5 star. I've been coming here for over 5 years now. Changing my 5 star review (from 3 ago) to 1 star based on my recent expirience. My wife and I had a date night so we chose to go to our usual sushi spot, Yen. It was busy and the start of dinner rush so we were put on the wait list. They take your phone number and send you a link that keeps you updated on your position on the list. We were the only party waiting and we were told a seat should open up in 15 minutes. After 20 minutes we were still top of the list, but a few partys of four were behind us. After 20 more minutes those partys were sat and we continued to wait. Another 20 minutes go by (total 1 hour waiting) and we were no longer even listed on the wait list. My wife went in to ask when we will be seated and she waited another 5 minutes and never even saw a hostess up front. We decided to leave after wasting over an hour waiting. We were not happy so we decided to get ice cream at Brusters for dinner, which was excellent. It seems Yen has gone downhill. Their staff all seem to be young kids and it was very disorganized. I have been coming to Yen for 10 years. When the restaurant was half the size, the staff was prompt and courteous, and the sushi was the best in the valley. I won't be visiting either Yen sushi locations nor their ramen shop based on this past expirience.

This is my favorite sushi place. The quality is always their! When it's a rush or full house their are no man's land tables where it feels like you can be forgotten about. (No getting water, and very slow drink refills, or having to flag down to order more, the table right behind the host stand) Other tables are prim service, though. I come with groups, a date, and just by myself. I still highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sushi

This place is amazing! Definitely my favorite sushi place in the Phoenix area. And I've been to a handful over the years but I keep coming back here. Very chill vibe, and lovely environment , usually with some type of sports on, be it football or UFC, etc. I'd say most of the rolls I've had here beat out the majority of other Sushi Bars but that may just be my opinion. I like to treat myself to the calamari appetizer and sometimes edamame as well. Anyway, it's a great place for date night or for some sake and sushi with friends. Make sure to try the quail egg!

Been coming here for years and I've never had a bad meal . Happy hour is good and the fish is fresh . Service is good as well at atmosphere , although it was quite warm on my last visit . Trying to escape the heat in the summer and I was sweating while eating .

They have happy hour all day! Got the gyozas. They looked alittle different, they were okay. Got the yakisoba chicken. It was good. It’s kinda dark inside even when it’s daylight.

Wanted to say thank you for understanding my shellfish allergy and letting me customize a roll to remove the shellfish and add salmon instead. This was the first time I ever actually LOVED sushi that I could eat, and finished the whole roll to myself!

I'm going to be perfectly clear, the food here is fantastic. It's delicious, flavorful and the portions are 100% fair for the price. The wait staff is exceptionally friendly as well. However 3 stars because I've eaten here 4 times. 3 in person and once carry out. And the service seems to be less than ideal. Every time my appetizer comes out after my mains. Service seems to be hit or miss on the quickness. I feel like I'm being fair in the speed regard as i don't recall going in when it was particularly slammed but hey I could be wrong. My most recent visit we were seated immediately but had to ask for our menus after waiting 10ish minutes. It took 3 tries for my appetizer to come out correctly (I guess there was a similar dish and there was some confusion). All in all I would eat here again now that my expectations are pretty much set, I'm just generally disappointed in the general service. We have different waiters each time so I can at least say it's not one specific waiter/waitress. Perhaps it's a training gap? Maybe it's a kitchen/back of house issue? I'll be keeping an open mind in future visits to see if it improves cause the food is delicious and the vibe of the restaurant really is awesome.

Great place to eat. Many sushi selections along with other cooked food options. Prices are reasonable for "Good" sushi. Very filling with many options under $10 each serving.
