We a wonderful time at Zambra tonight. Tashi our waitstaff was especially fun. She helped us every step of the way There were a fantastic set of tapas choices. My favorite was the lamb. We had probably 10 different ones so everyone in our group of five had a personal favorite. There was a Great list of wines so everyone should be able to pick a favorite wine as well. Cheers and tanks again Tashi!!

Hadn't been to Zambra in a while, and we showed up to a packed house on a Saturday night with a party of 6, only to find out I had mistakenly booked us for the following night. But after we were told at reception that we were out of luck, host Rylan came over and after a few minutes figured out how to rejigger tables, and got us in. Whew. And as usual, we had wonderful small plates of food, good wine, and efficient service for a reasonable price.

I was pretty excited to try this place, but it wasn't as good as expected. When we first walked in we were asked if we had a reservation even though the place was basically empty at 6p. The food is great. We enjoyed each of the dishes but for the quantity they were expensive. We each ordered a cocktail. Both weren't very good and appeared they are trying too hard to have something different and it's not really working. The atmosphere is definitely intimate so it's not a place to really have fun or conversations with friends. The lighting is so low you will need your phone to read the menu. Remember that reservation they asked about well with the extremely slow service we were there till 8:30p and the entire time it wasn't more than 30% full. I liked the food and all but probably won't go back unless someone else I'm with wants to go.

My wife and I had never been to Asheville, NC, but heard the food scene was spectacular. We were not disappointed… Our Uber driver recommended a few places and Zambra was at the top of their list. Talk about being spot on… we had one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. The menu was filled with something for everyone and we had a hard time narrowing down or selections because we wanted to try everything. We grabbed the coveted “confessional” spot at the bar. It was a nice cozy place where a wonderful person named Lisa took care of us that evening. She was very friendly and helped us make our selections. Her service was impeccable and really completed our evening. Here’s what we ordered complete with pictures: Chilled Corn and Tarragon Soup. Crème Fraiche, Tarragon Oil and Lump Crab. Pomegranate Braised Pork Spring Rolls. Avocado, Cashew Chili Crisp, Mango Mojo. Lamb Albondigas. Tunisian Tomato Sauce, Chickpea and Cucumber Salad, Crumbled Feta, Pistachio. Charred Cauliflower. Spicy Romesco, Salsa Verde, Sunflower Seeds. House Gnocchi → Basil, Arugula and Pine Nut Pesto, Sweet Potato, Radish, Capricorn De Cabra and Goat Cheese. And for dessert: Peanut Butter Brownie → Peanut Butter Mousse, Toasted Cashew, House Made Bourbon Ice Cream. If we ever visit Asheville again, we would certainly visit this fantastic restaurant again. Thank you for making our trip very enjoyable!

Beautiful restaurant. Service was outstanding. The sangria we had was good - seemed a little pricey for the carafe. The food was all good, nothing blew us away of the dishes we tried, but all was well-prepared and presented. It was a fun place to eat while we were visiting Asheville. If you like tapas style, it is good place to go with really nice ambiance and attentive service.

Zambra is fantastic. I’ve heard it referred to as a “poor man’s Curate” but to be honest our meal was perfection and the ambience is so much more up our alley. The menu changes daily and it’s literally less than a minute walk from our place. Plus, because of the national acclaim, Curate is not always easy to get into and in my opinion comes across a little stuffy. None of that at Zambra…vibe is chill and plenty of seating so you can pretty much always walk right on in. Bartenders are knowledgeable and attentive as well…Patrick is friendly and on point. If you find yourself in Asheville, skip Curate and hit this place instead.

Wow; just WOW! This place is amazing. My husband and I dined here a few nights ago and it was perfect! We both love tapas (well prepared tapas!) and Zambra's didn't disappoint. Everything we tried was delicious but the really exceptional dishes were the caprese salad (the BEST I've ever had!), the chicken skewers (not a fan of chicken, but these were great) and the charred cauliflower. Our server (sorry I don't remember her name) was attentive without hovering and made really great suggestions.

I’ve been wanting to go to Zambra for some time and was excited for tonight to finally be the night. Our party had great service and thoroughly enjoyed the food and beverage. What was really off though was the music being a total mismatch for the moody cellar like atmosphere of this restaurant. Pixies and Strokes playing while dining at a romantic Spanish themed tapas restaurant?? It totally changed the whole mood and we all had to try to talk over the strange soundtrack. I’ll try again once more down the line and hope that management pays better attention to all the layers of what creates great ambiance.

We sat on the patio set up in the breezeway between buildings, sort of an alleyway feeling. Very quaint. The service was good. I found the menu to be interesting and diverse. We had the scallops(slightly undercooked) crab cake, cheese platter, and mussels. Prices were very reasonable, and serving size was sharable if you plan to do a few different items. The food and atmosphere is great. Our server was good but forgot one of dishes and didn’t check on us very often. We asked another server to make sure our dish was put in. They acknowledged they would but never came back and after waiting 15 minutes without anyone coming by we finally got our server and the check. Loved the cheese board but a guide to the cheeses would be helpful. The grilled mushrooms were delicious and the shrimp were good but not amazing. Go get a bottle of wine, the cheese board and mushrooms!

I think seeing carpet in a restaurant was the first red flag. Table for three, seated in a dining room but immediately next to the server galley and bar, facing a trash can and a blue lowes bucket. After ordering drinks, asked to be moved at least one table away (many available tables, even after we left) and continued ordering food. Was under the impression this was tapas style so food should come sharable.. but many plates came with items that needed to be cut to share? And in a bowl so things needed to be transferred to a plate to cut and then split. Ordered a turnip plate where every element was awful. Would absolutely never come back. Astonished this place gets high remarks. Good for y'all. Cheers.

Zambras was one of my favorite restaurants I’ve been to in Asheville. Wasn’t even planning on going until we had change in plans and boy am I so grateful for it. The tapas style was really fun to split everything and after 5 tapas we were very full and satisfied. The pomegranate mango pork spring rolls were to die for. Also the fried soft shell crab was so delicious with a very tasty sauce with Serrano ham on top. The lemon and egg soup was another fantastic tapa. The atmosphere there was very vibey and cozy, felt like we were in a cool underground cave, and even the music playing was so good. We enjoyed a nice meal and then made the mistake of using their bathrooms before leaving. They were not only dirty but even worse, took our breathe away from the use of toxic synthetic air freshener. It seemed like we were in a gas station bathroom instead of a bathroom in a supposed fine dining establishment. They should not only clean their bathrooms but also, if they stink that bad, put in fresh cut flowers like Asiatic Day Lillies or in the very least, use some nontoxic essential oils. We both left queasy and had headaches. You seriously need to step up your game.

Had reservations for a high top at 6pm on a Thursday. Maybe 20 customers in the whole restaurant and they sat us on a couch in the back corner beside two people which was in no way a high top and any way to spend a date night with my wife. Moved to the bar and found the bartender to be somewhat antisocial. The worst part is the bathrooms. This meal was $200 and the bathrooms were worse than any dive bar I've ever been in. My husband and I were visiting for a last minute overnight stay in Asheville and we were searching for a dinner place to eat, stumbled across Zambra. This place WAS AMAZING. Our experience was nothing less than exceptional. We walked in on a Saturday night expecting to not have space since we did not have a reservation but we were able to score seats at the bar. Lisa, our bartender happily greeted us and maintained amazing service throughout our stay. We ordered 5 tapas, chargrilled cauliflower, crispy brussel sprouts, grilled maitake mushrooms, pomegranate braised pork spring rolls. Every single dish was served with visually appealing plating techniques but was bursting with immense flavors. The chargrilled cauliflower spicy Romesco sauce was out of this world, so much so I asked the server Brian jokingly that I needed that recipe to duplicate at home. A few minutes went by and Brian hand delivered their actual recipe! We were floored! The atmoshpere, to the extensive wine list, each of the tapas was like an extraordinary culinary delight! I can guarantee you every single time we come back to Asheville, we will definitely come back!

Great cocktails. Ambience was a bit dark, and it brings the energy down quite a bit. The food ranged from good to very good, but my biggest gripe is that this is a restaurant taking the beautiful concept of tapas, a cheap, small plate, ordered in magnitude to comprise a meal, and charging $15 for them. Then our server who I think might have actually been some type of manager, was very stand offish and short with us. And seemed shocked when we asked for wine by the bottle menu. From the moment we entered, what felt like an authentic Spanish castle, we were warmly greeted at the door. We were seated at our table and luckily was gifted one of the best servers ever….Alec. He was so friendly, warm, engaging and efficient, and thus began our wonderful evening. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts ( a must have!) the crusted Scallops, and the Trout sliders. I heard so much about this restuarant but it didnt live up to expectations. I was disappointed that they charged me for a extra piece of bread....completely turned be off especially because of the $ I spent.

Highly recommend Zambia’s! We had the arugula salad, Brussel sprouts, squash dish and swordfish. Every dish was so tasty and delicious!

Amazing food that comes in a range of prices, so it's easy to spend less or more money depending on what you're going for. They've got a wide variety of dishes, ranging from collards and grits to pomegranate pork spring rolls. Can't recommend this food enough, plus they change their menu fairly regularly. Well worth the experience!

I absolutely loved this place! It was my first time here. The food was outstanding, and the drinks were top-notch. It's such a beautiful place, especially at night. They have it all lit up with low light and candles. It was very romantic and sexy. The staff was wonderful, too.

The food is great and they change the menu up from time to time. This makes me want to come back now and again. Great variety of tapas. Only issue is the atmosphere. The lighting is extremely dim. I'm sure that's their intent, but I'm not a fan.

I have been going to Zambras for over 20 years and was extremy disappointed with the experience I had this week. I took two friends that just moved to town before a concert and we waited an hor for our food and was told there was a ticket error. We got 4 glasses of wine and none of them were comped. My 20 year patronage of this restaurant is officially done!!

Beautiful space. Great service. And the food is oh my sweet baby Jesus incredible! Wow wow wow wow. Wow. Cocktails were great too. The kitchen tip line is interesting- it's hard to balance foh/boh wages in the industry, but I'd be afraid people will half the tip normally for their server and give the other half to the kitchen. I've seen different approaches like service fees or kitchen fees. I'm intrigued by this approach. But you gotta take care of the people making 80% of your business and that's the excellent food!

Went there for our 20th wedding anniversary. Was poorly seated but asked to be moved and was accommodated. Food and atmosphere was great after that. Every dish was delicious.

Jessica was such a wonderful bartender. I love the albondigas. The atmosphere is fun but relaxing and a much appreciated refuge from the downtown crowds . Great drinks and lots of friendly servers.
