This place never opens ontime. They will sit and not answer the phone or door. Horrible unprofessional business owners smh! Suppose to open at 12 but 12:30 and they are still not open.

The food here is delicious but the customer service is horrible.

What I can’t figure out is how tf you call nd place a order ahead of time 30 plus mins because they take a hell of a long time to even pass out your food and I get there and it’s still not ready why tf do you do call in order if you still gotta wait 30 plus minutes to get your food and this is everytime I come here tf wat yall need more cooks for workers or sum?

I ordered the fried croaker fish The fried croaker fish at zoewees is an absolute delight for seafood lovers! This dish features a perfectly fried croaker fish that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Been eating here for a while called In my order the girl said 20 mins for 2 fish meals I waited almost an hour And was late to work Plus this the second time both platters was missing my plantains highly upset

Order my food almost an hour past the time I arrive (told me it would ready in about 20 min) got to the store and it was locked over 5 people waiting to pick up they order someone came out and ask what we ordered said she would be right back waited another 5 mins after that and just left that truly unacceptable!

I’ve been going here since I was about 13-14 y/o. What was once authentic west African food has now turned into an oily mess that rude, argumentative, lying staff serves with no regard to your time, gas, or money paid.

Terrible attitude from woman working on 5/16 @1:45pm. I guess because im white she didnt like that i came in there..... Lots of flies flying around too kinda grossed me out. Won't be back.

I randomly stopped in and am glad I did because I came back that same Friday, lol. The food is THAT good! I do wish the service was faster. You can easily wait 20-30 mins for your food, even with placing an order over the phone, but other than that, the food is amazing.

I tired African food for the time from Zoewee’s 6 years ago and ever since I’ve been addicted lol. I’ve tried other African spots in Charlotte & Atl & NOBODY is better than Zoewee’s ! The okra soup 🤤 the cassava 🤤 the pepper soup🤤 the palaver sauce 🤤 everything chile ❤️ & good prices !

Love Zowees! Best Liberian African food in CLT. My favorite is the potato greens and cassava leaf with seasoned rice. The egusi however is very unique because they cook it with okra and I love it! It's been sooooo good ever since December 2023. Whoever is cooking it now does not put and equal amount of okra in the egusi soup. The egusi is green and slimmy and I can barely taste the egusi in it! Because their is wayyyyy too much okra in it! It upsets me because that's all I have a taste for! I spend most of my money here and I'm sick and tired of eating the egusi soup with too much okra in it. I might as well order okra soup. I've heard the same complaints from others. Can you guys please fix this?

Omg Zoewees had great food especially my absolute favorites okra soup, palm butter and palava sauce.

The pepper soup was AMAZING, I gave 4/5 Stars for service because we were told the food would be ready in 20 minutes, it was actually 45-50 minutes. And 4/5 for atmosphere, because it's not anywhere to eat or barely sit down and wait at. Most people stand up or go and wait in their car. Will definitely go again!! Highly recommend!

So far the best Liberian Restaurant I've had since I've been back in Charlotte. The prices are great too. I've had the Cassava Leaf and Torborgee and I was not disappointed. The seasoned Rice is really good as well.

The jollies rice is soooo good comes with chicken and smoke turkey in it it’s one of my favorite And they only have it Wednesdays 😩😩 Wish they had it everyday cause it’s really worth every penny….

It's pretty good but the last few times I've been there the cassava leaf It's been sandy I definitely know it's a new cook because the flavor is off, this is my favorite place to eat wish they had delivery because the phone calls are kind of hard can't really understand what's being said.

Update: the food is cheaper and the cassava leaves Taste horrible. They have absolutely no palm oil they’re using just regular vegetable oil now. The food had a very funny flavor and I cook authentic cassava leaves so I know. If I could, I would open up my own west African restaurant, this is not good west African food. It used to be. The picture attached is my west African cassava leaves with goat. People are complaining about the palm oil and that is a West African staple! I miss the extra palm oil! I ordered a few days ago and it taste like it had no palm oil very American. If you are on a diet then don’t eat here. I like my rice to be red with oil. Please return back to the way you guys used to make it. I was so disappointed I went to the African market and made my own cassava leaves. See the picture below. This is how I like my cassava made.

Their food is authentic, cooked to order, and served with a smile. I really like how they do not go heavy on the salt compared to other African Restaurants I've eaten at. I also enjoy that they put the spicy sauce on the side, allowing me to choose how much heat I can handle in each dish.

1st Time Visiting. To Go Only. Difficulty Placing Order Over The Phone (Dialect Barrier) Potato Greens Were Awful.... (Swimming and Floating In Fat And Grease.... ) Seasoned Rice Was Plain White Rice.

Food is amazing. It's not a dine in restaurants just grab n go. But the cassava leaves and potatoe greens are my favorite. The house hotsauce is HOT and fire! Highly recommend. It's Liberian food and it's good!

I go here because i absolutely can’t find another place. 27.08 for two soups. Now i don’t mind the price as long as I’m getting what i pay for. Lately it’s been complete trash. I’ve had to return soups I’ve had to throw away soups and some i just simply forced myself to eat because of the cost. You get a baby scoop of greens and then it overflows with palm oil and NO turkey and probably 2 pieces of chicken. I go there and say hey last week there was nooo turkey on the food she tells me to check it. AGAIN NO TURKEY SHE ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED… ma am i would like what comes with my food if that’s okay. ??? They had different cooks one day the soup is amazing by the end of the week it’s burnt with no flavor. I’ve spoken to the man that run this place numerous times. Don’t let that palm oil touch anything it stains everything it touches. IM SERIOUS IT EVEN STAINED MY DOG WHEN HE PASSED THE TABLE AND TOUCHED IT. Such a a nuisance.. I’m definitely spending time this week looking for a new place. I’m over it i really tired. I love the food here but the quality and service has depleted.

I have been spending my $ on lunch break for better part of a year i asked if u say 20 minutes please be 20xif longer ill wait they had me late from my break more than once so they will never get my money again.

The only reason,why I gave 2 instead of 1 star was because the prices are affordable. I order the egusi soup & fufu. Let me start by saying it came with a lot of oil and not a lot of meat. Next, the fufu was so small proportion ,It was insane. It was basically the size of a pancake. I never will come back here, again.

The wings and fish I ordered was recooked and not fresh and the potatoe greens was salty and they took 30 min or so to get my food

I’ve been coming here for years and over time the quality/portions have gotten worse. Definitely recommend sticking to a home cooked meal- because nothing can beat that.

I came here about 2 years ago and couldn't wait to come back, the food was so good. Firstly it's a takeout place only, so don't expect the grandest of atmosphere, they could provide some seating since you will have to wait for the food. Hence, the one star for atmosphere. My order was taken by a young lady who could probably work on her customer service, she wasn't rude just lacked some tact when speaking to a customer. Being that there isn't a menu on display she should have handed me a menu before assuming I already knew it or whatever her thought process was. Anywho I ordered the cassava and rice with a side order of croaker. There is a wait, which I'm all for since I knew the food would be delicious, so expect a 20-30 min wait, have a light snack before going if you are starving. Got my food within the time stated. Ok firstly I was dying to get more of the croaker, I can't explain how delicious it is. So flavorful and cooked perfectly. If you have a problem with bones I don't recommend. I also recommend trying it with the hot sauce, it's really spicy, but I love spice and it was perfect together. As for the cassava, OMG, it's perfection. They have some of the best I've tasted outside of homemade, not too spicy, but if you prefer spicy like me add more hot sauce, it perfectly complements the cassava and adds a delicious smoky flavor. I can't wait to try more items since I'm closer.

Do not let the outside appearance send you off it's definitely worth going the guy working the cash register was very sweet he explained the food to me he was very helpful the food was amazing everything was hot and fresh me and my daughter really enjoyed ourselves

I typically go here a lot because of their pricing is more affordable than most locations. However my last few times the quality of the food itself has not been that good. And today I ordered the cassava leaf and when I got home and looked at the food they basically gave me a bowl of oil. When I called to let them know what I had received once I had got home I was told to bring the food back so they could decide if I received a bad batch and for them to decide if I can get a refund or a different entrée. Sadly this will be my last time going to this restaurant.

This is my first time with my girlfriend We had no idea what we was going to choose we just wanted some African food the young lady behind the counter was a great help. She was really nice, and soft spoken despite the fact that we had no idea what we wanted but she helped us throughout the whole process and made it easier for us … Food was hot and it was really good I will definitely come back …

I don’t t usually write reviews but have to after my experience yesterday. We ordered Potato Greens and rice and were told the order would take 25 min … great… 35 min later we show up to get our food and they haven’t even started our order … they remembered the call in but forgot to make the food. We then wait another 35 min for the food. When we get home we open it and my initial thought was, “ this doesn’t look like potato greens.” I open up the food and take a bite and I have no idea what they gave us but it surely wasn’t potato greens. Here’s the thing , I’m not American my family is Liberian so you are not gonna fool me but I am 100% sure that those were not potato greens… extremely disappointed… won’t be back.

Great Liberian dishes at affordable prices.

Calling over the phone I felt rushed and was hung up on twice before my order was taken. I wish the fufu was softer in texture, but other than that, I have 0 complaints on the food I had. I ordered wings, peppered soup and palm butter soup and it was great. The inside restaurant was clean and I would definitely go back for the food. This is not a dine in location.

No dine in really sucks if you have to drive a long ways to get there so you can eat your food on a bench at a park

I’ve been ordering from them since 2015. I really like the cassava leaf here, but there’s something to be said about the customer service. I just called, someone picked up, mumbled a few words, then put me on hold for a long time. When I tried to call back, they picked up the phone and hung it up. I’ve had some bad experiences with their customer service over the years, but have ignored it because I love the food so much. This was the last straw.

Young lady behind the counter was a sweetheart. Ordered an assortment of food. Had the croaker with plantain, Okra stew with fufu, wings with rice, and chicken and fish stew with spinach rice. The rices were a bit bland. I didn't love the chicken and fish stew but the Okra stew was delicious. Less a star mostly because the food took almost an hour to be ready.

I can’t get enough of this place, my favorite is the Palaver sauce and fufu. It is only served on Tuesday and Saturday so when it’s not those days I get the cassava leaf and fufu. Their food is always on point , full of flavor and what I like most is they give you the pepper sauce on the side. I’m not a lover of spicy food so I can add the pepper sauce to my liking. My only complaint is that they are t signed up with Grubhub or Uber eats. They would make so much money because I know people would order. I recommend this place over every African restaurant in Charlotte…. I was there today as soon as they opened, I was their first customer and ordered my cassava leaf and fufu. I had been picking up orders here from a while. It’s located in a little plaza that is easy to pass and the restaurant itself it nothing to look at but the food had always been good and consistent. One thing to also note is unlike any other African/ Liberian restaurants, they do not change the meat. They only cook with smoked Turkey and chicken. I am not sure it the reason for this is to save themselves cost but it never really bothered me but just something to note. I hadn’t ordered from here for a couple of months and did so today. First of all, I know that everything and everyone charges more for everything these days but their online menus need to be updated and to reflect that. The meals were $10.99 a couple of months ago and now $13.96. When I asked the women on the phone the total, I was a little thrown back but proceeded with the order since I was craving palm butter . I will say I was very disappointed today with the food. It was extremely salty and pretty much inedible. I am not sure if they have a new cook but I saw a couple of more recent reviews say the same thing. I now hate to say that I am not interested in paying more for inedible salty food so today was my last order with this restaurant and in the hunt for a new African restaurant that I like and is consistent. I have a hard time finding a consistent one in Charlotte.

I’m not one to leave reviews but as a Liberian I had to. I’ve had some bad experiences with Zowee’s but this was by far the worst. I got fufu and soup and the soup was 90% salt. They only put chicken and turkey in their food and no other meats as if they’re trying to save money. Most of the people leaving good reviews aren’t even African so they don’t know what the food is actually suppose to taste like…no offense to them. Also the girl who works at the counter is extremely rude and ignores the customers. They never answer their phone. I have absolutely no clue how they’re in business. People are going to think that’s how we (Liberians) make our food and it’s not.

I went to Zoewee's many times and always ordered the fish combo only I don't like bones at all on any type of meat, the rice tasted very authentic and plantains were fruity tasty like vitamin c.

I lived in Liberia for five years, and this is by far the best Liberian restaurant I’ve been to so far in the US. Very authentic. I have to stop by anytime I’m in Charlotte and order some of the dishes. I have really enjoyed everything. If it’s your first time coming the cassava leaf and potato greens are great to try. Highly recommend! They also package the food so nicely and great costumer service.

I really love their African cuisine, always tasting very authentic and fresh, the prices are very reasonable and a nice amount of food is given for the price. It's a must try if you've never eaten African cuisine.

The restaurant is open for takeout only. I tried a ethnic food I'm not a custom too. Was through satisfied with the taste and quality. Being sarcastic, I had the seasoned rice with a little crocker. It would have been more complimentary had there been more fish. None the less I enjoyed the meal.
