Being Cornish I know a good pasty and this doesn't even come close, awful and not authentic. Call it something else but don't pass it off as traditional when it's not

I was watching a show this past Sunday that was filmed in England, explaining how "Cornish" pastry was made, and the History of this Wonderful Food that was Originally created to feed the Working Class people in England. Once I had seen the ingredients, it was just a matter of time before I wanted to see if there was a Local Source to purchase them . I will be Honest....... I have not yet prepared, nor eaten any of the Items I have Purchased.... But based upon the Ingredients shown, I will probably be a Happy Satisfied Customer.... Stay tuned for updated........ P.S. I purchased (2) of every non-desert item for evaluation.... Cristina was fantastic.....and a wonderful person to chat with....

This small but very well stocked English food market had all my favorite British foods and treats and then some. The owner is extremely nice as well as being knowledgeable. They make all the pastys as well as a variety of handmade sausages. Finally I have somewhere to get my beloved Cumberland bangers! This great little shop is definitely worth a visit. You'll find all your favorite English foods - - from sausages to pastys to Yorkshire tea to traditional English sweets and more.

Great pasties! I love the pasties in the UP of MI. So when I found this place I was excited. Definitely try the cornish. All of the ones I tried were great-chicken tikka masala, beef curry, chicken and veggie. I just went back and bought some of the peach apricot dessert ones. Can’t wait to try them.

First time, based on recommendation of a friend. Wow! Pasties were fabulous!

I asked a friend of mine who's wife is English if there were any British type grocery stores or the like. He told us about 4 & 20 Pasty Company, so we made it a point to get there this week while on vacation in nearby Longboat Key. They have their pasties frozen and readily available. Apparently you can put in an order ahead of time to get fresh pasties. We picked up several different ones, and had two for dinner tonight. Absolutely delicious. The frozen items reheat quickly (10-20 minutes) in the oven. I told my wife we should have bought more! The women serving us asked how we found out about the place, and shared with her that our friend told us about it. They also have a lot of shelve items - crackers, mustards, jams, et.

Originally from the UK so sometimes i crave authentic food. Cornish pasty was spot on. Pork pie was really good too.

Omg...fantastic...pastry was unbelievably amazing...if we lived here we would come at least once a week. Prices are right considering the freshness and flavor. If you haven't had any pasty pies in a long time or never tried any, this is for sure the place. It was also extremely clean!! Having been to England numerous times since my mother is British, this place has the flavor to match old school pastys.

Great small bakery and pasty shop. Owner is very pleasant and helpful. Pastys are made fresh daily and have a perfect crust that is packed with homemade filling. Can eat in (if a small party), take out or take home to bake them yourself.

Small shoppe, not the kind of place to take a big gathering, but most of their fare is available to go or frozen for another day. If you go in the mid-afternoon quiet time, the ownwe may treat you to the story of his opening the shop. Very interesting and the food is great.

I am British but live in the USA. I am always sceptical when I see sausage rolls advertised. There is a real art to getting the flaky pastry just right. Well they did that and more. Absolutely delicious. I bought pasties, sausage rolls and pork pies to take home. They were the real deal. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend 4 & 20 Pasty Company.

So good. We tried the cornish, Shepherd's pie, spicy jamaican and spinach yesterday. Can't wait to try the rest. Goes great with beer for a quick but interesting dinner.

This was our second visit to the 4 & 20 Pasty Company and it was just as good as our first visit. I had the Sausage Roll again and it was very good. The sausage was tasty and the crust on the roll was fluffy and delicious. I also had The Original Pasty and liked it. Unfortunately to much food between the Pasty and sausage but I saved it for later. The owner is a very nice Chap and will tell you all about his business and a lot of other things, haha. Great time talking to him. Will make sure to stop in again next time we’re in Sarasota.

Enjoyed Shepherd's pie, was just like my grandmother from Ripley England used to make. We will be sure to return for other of the many items on the menu.

I've been meaning to stop by for ages. Finally did. Got the original and LOVED IT!!! It is rather pricey for what it is (I make these) but otherwise top notch.

Having just vacationed in Cornwall, England we want to try 4&20 Pasty Company. We stopped in and bought a couple of Sausage Rolls which were excellent. The sausage was very tasty and the crust was excellent. One of the last things I had in St Austell, England at Niles Bakery was a Sausage Roll and I thought this one was just as good if not better. We talked to the owner for several minutes who was a very nice and friendly. He explained the difference between his Pasty’s and the Cornwall Pasty’s, butter vs. lard and told us about the different types he makes and shipping. Before we head back to Calif. we need to go back and try a Pasty.

Was a delight, excellent cheese and onion pastry

My husband is British, so finding such a wonderful source for fresh pasties and other English treats has been a godsend. My family's favorites include the Original, Shepherd's Pie and Cheese & Onion. The best part is that they are available hot and ready to eat or flash frozen to bring home. Small but well stocked shop also carries pork pies, eccles cakes, dessert pasties, PG Tips, back bacon, mushy peas, Heinz Beans, Marmite and other seasonal favorites. Last, but not least - the owners are a truly delightful couple. Friendly and kind, they make coming to the shop a pleasure. This place is a hidden gem of authentic food and welcoming hosts. One of our favorites.

Great selection. Have had many of their pasties and I would highly recommend them. My family and I have been long time customers.

Our first visit, we drove 100 miles round trip to try their food, it was excellent. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had pasties in northern Michigan several summers ago. It is a shorter drive here, and they will ship to your home if desired. We had the traditional pasty inside, and bought more frozen ones to take home. The crust was very light and pasties were excellent. We had wanted to visit here for a while, and glad we did. Come check this quaint and comfortable place out, you won't regret it.

On a trip to the UK we enjoyed the Cornish Pasties whenever we could find them. Upon returning to the US I first googled recipes and then mail order, etc. and found this shop. A 4.5 hour trip to Sarasota included a stop at this pasty shop. We walked out with a few hot pasties to eat in the car and a bag of savory and sweet frozen pasties to take home. [Bring a cooler]. Not only was the food authentic but so are the proprietors who take pride in bringing their culture to the US. Lovely!

Love, love, love this place!! The food is fantastic and the people behind the counter are absolutely lovely. I usually buy hot pasties to eat while I'm there plus frozen ones to take home. They also have a great selection of British candy and drinks. The pasties are exactly like my grandmother made them...sooooo good!

I went to another local British shop in town and for the price the food was not as authentic or good as the 4 & 20 Pasty Company. I’m from Manchester UK and was used to Gregg’s for my pies and pasties well I can say 4 &20 blows greggs out of the water ! I go every month to get my supply !!

This is a great place! Stopped in for lunch and got the lamb roll and my guest got the traditional sausage roll. Both were fantastic. Authentic British food is hard to find and this is the best I've seen in Florida. The staff are super friendly and it's a great atmosphere. I recommend without any reservations.

Great food, British pastry and other foods done right. Richard and Barbara, the owners are a delight. They are masters of the craft of British pastries. Come in for a free sample of what you will want to order for desert and while you are here try a Jamaican Beef Patty, Shepherd Pie, or a Chicken Tiki Marsala, all in their delightful pasty. One of only 2 British places done right in this town and the other is Champions Pub. This is a casual place that serves not only the foods mentioned above but other treats such as Ben Shaws drinks and others. Candies such as Rowntrees.

In our busy world today, one's lucky to find food shops that serve good food, let alone have wonderful customer service. Chains dominate many of our areas because it's hard for family businesses to thrive in this competitive market. But, those that stand out above the rest are some of the blessed few and that distinction and privilege in today's economy are well deserved for places like 4&20. Barbara and Richard's place is not just a place to get British yummies. It's a labor of love. From their delicious pasty treats to their sausage rolls and everything else in between, it's apparent that this family believes in the place that they play in their community. When one walks into 4&20, one feels as if one is stepping into the personal space of long-time friends, if not family. The warmth and genuine nature of Barbara puts a touch to 4&20 that can only be offered with much sincerity and grace. Customers feel welcomed and valued. And, her partners in crime Richard and Ian add to the humor that is always found among good friends and loved ones. I've been to many a places that might serve good food, but I've stopped going if I didn't feel like my business mattered. I prefer to support businesses that not only provide a service, but those that would also leave a hole in their communities if they no longer existed. For 4&20, I drive about over 100 miles just to go visit. Their food is that worth it and visiting with such lovely people is such a joy. They do mail orders, but visiting the shop is a blessing in itself, so I rather make a day out of it if I am able. The first time that I visited, Barbara gave my brother a tour of her family's store. She will never know how much that meant to me. My brother is special needs and he has difficulty processing information quickly. And, as a result he can be very quiet and shy. But, I mentioned to Barbara how I had brought him to her store because he had a love for modern British culture and perhaps seeing the excitement in his eyes, she offered to give him a tour. For our entire trip home, my brother would not stop talking about this wonderful, kind experience. So, I promised him that I'd bring him back as we also fell in love with the delicious treats, especially the sausage rolls. Thank you, Barbara, Richard, Ian and all of the staff at 4&20. Your food is delicious and you all are just as awesome. I pray continued blessings upon your store and that you may continue to be a ray of sunshine to everyone who meets you. This is a lovely shop purveyors of British food . A really charming couple, helpful, friendly and pleasant. Great selection of imported items. The sausages are the best in all of Sarasota. A must try product.

A great hole in the wall place for delicious pasties! The owners are warm and friendly and the prices are great. They sell fresh and frozen, so you can stock up, and they ship all over.

Wow, I'm driving down Swift Rd and tucked in a row of shops I discover what the gentleman behind the counter described as 'Sarasota's hidden gem' and he was so spot on! I bought 5 amazing pasties, a couple of unique beverages, a wonderful jar of black currant jam, an English breakfast treat and a chocolate bar to enjoy in the car. My husband and I enjoyed 2 pasties for dinner and are hooked! This little shop is so clean and organized!! The food is truly homemade and they even make their own curry sauce! Friendly staff and owners, a clean place and wonderful food!! So excited I discovered this fabulous gem!!!

Authentic in every way. Truly worth the trip. Our choice for special occasions and the holidays!

My kids love the Eccols cake. You can't go wrong. Where else are you going to get haggis in a pasty? Shepherd's pie pasty and British banger roll are the favorites here.

We visited twice the week we were in vacation. The sausage rolls were a big hit with our family. My 10yr daughter begged all week to return for more! My only complaint is they wouldn't allow me to buy as many as I wanted, as they were holding for their regulars. I can understand that, but still disappointed as this was a big treat for us as we can't get there them where we live.

There's only one place in town for authentic British pasties and meat pie. The seating inside is very bare bones, but the conversation is pleasant and the food is delicious.

Charles - you literally have no clue what you are talking about. Their pasties are about as authentic to England as you are going to get. They source their sausages with discerning accuracy and quality to what you would get in the UK. Most people who enjoy 4 & 20 are looking for a taste of home. If you haven't travelled much then you wouldn't understand. "A hotdog in phyllo dough" that is hilarious. Maybe you should stick to Tacos as that seems to be your specialty.
