First local coffee shop that I went to, ordered the dirty chai, turns out the owner makes it from scratch (no powder bs), takes about 16 hours to prepare its really good. Ashley the bartender was very happy to chat about coffee and preparation methods. 10/10 place. Greetings from Mexico

Each year on her birthday my wife and I drive the 30 minutes to Affogato for her birthday dirty chai. That allows me to get the best Affogato I've ever had. Every year for the last 7 years. Affogato is special in so many ways. You should definitely give them a try!

Great drinks, friendly staff. I particularly enjoy the opportunity this place gives me for community service, as the cold tea jar is often screwed on too tight, and somebody has to step up to the plate.

Wow, my new favorite chai!! They make a homemade chai and it is a very spicy ginger - amazing! I hope you never tone it down, because it's a truly delicious recipe!

Best coffee in St John's with a batista who always remembers my drink.

This place is a recent find, and I absolutely love it here! The lattes I've had are amazing. They have a homemade vanilla syrup, and the other syrups they use are an organic brand. And the marionberry pop tart is fantabulous! The service is always top notch, the staff are amazing here. The only problem is they only have barstool seating really against the wall and window, it's a pretty small shop. Good for stopping by for something to go. But still an amazing place, would highly recommend!

A fine Chai, ginger, tumeric-ish latte in a low-key, intimate environment. An enjoyable break from neighborhood exploration. AND an adequate, no frills bathroom.

I have been here quite a few times for their affogato which is very good. I tried an ice latte today and it was very disappointing. Their other coffee may be good but if you want a good latte, go literally anywhere else. Two stroke coffee, the great north, and daydreamer cafe all make very good lattes that taste like coffee and not just sugared milk. The one I got today from this cafe is very similar to a McDonald’s latte.

Great coffee (and sometimes amazing pastries). Enough said!

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing an affogato for the first time - and it was an amazing experience! The combination of the smooth, creamy gelato and the intense espresso was a delicious balance of flavors. The espresso was strong and bold, yet the sweetness of the gelato made it perfectly enjoyable and not too overpowering. The presentation was also beautiful, with the espresso poured over the gelato in a way that made it look like a work of art. All in all, I would highly recommend this treat to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dessert.

I've been here before but today, the coffee was exceptionally bad. It was like drinking dishwater. There are so many places in that area that i won't be back. The Barista was very slow and really didn't listen, although very kind.

Met up an old friend, was the perfect place to meet up. The coffee was good, tasted my friends but, the Chai was absolutely outstanding. just sweet enough and perfectly spicy. Staff was great and personable. Didn't hang out so can not speak to much to the ambiance.

Got a fantastic vanilla bean Affogato, which I absolutely recommend! I also got the pop tart, which is really a decadent pastry and do not regret my choices at all. Everything was great! I sat outside with my dog on a nice day and the atmosphere was good.

They make their own chai. It’s spicy! With fresh ginger and black tea and other delicious secret ingredients. Try it with oat milk. Yum bomb. Service is always warm and friendly.

Teeny, tiny place. But, very, very good affogato. Presentation is more coffee-like than dessert-like, e.g., slightly more coffee to my taste and served in coffee cup. Had affagato in Venice and Rome where they serve more like a dessert. But, the taste is wonderful. Worth every sip/spoonful.

Some of the tastiest espresso in Portland. I have stopped in here many times and they have been consistently great. Not much room inside to sit but a great spot for take away. I definitely recommend trying a bag of some of their locally roasted beans as well.

This is a wonderful coffee shop to sit and drink my morning coffee in. The interior is warm and inviting, and the employees friendly. It's easy to strike up friendly conversation, and a perfect place to get your coffee to-go in addition to sitting in.

The owners of this place are so nice and I love their obsession with quality. This place is the real deal. Stop in for a coffee next time you are downtown

Really cute coffee shop that makes an excellent affogato, hence the name. Come here for a mid day pickup in the caffeine department. Or show up in the morning and grab a cup of coffee with a friend and sit at the window and admire the rain or shine.

Delicious! No cheap imitation flavorings there and the staff are always pleasant to talk to.

Wow. What a game changer to add ice cream to an espresso?! Sorry if I’m totally new to this concept but, this blew my mind. I’m pretty picky about my espressos and often can’t stand most but theirs is so robust!! I didn’t want to finish my affogato because I simply didn’t want the experience to end. I usually have dessert in the evenings but this place may have changed my perspective on this! What a fantastic find since moving to the St Johns area.

One of my favorite cafes in town. The affogatto they make is WAAYY better than the one I make myself (they pull great shots!), and I love their Chai. They also sell excellent beans at a reasonable price. I really appreciate that they setup such a safe environment for both customers and employees during covid.

I had a delicious oat milk Borgia which was absolutely amazing. This is the first coffee shop I've found in the Saint Johns area that I actually enjoyed and recieved my money's worth. But that doesn't really do this little local shop justice, I'd go so far as to say it's in my top 10 favorite coffee shops on the west coast. This business was hit hard by unforeseen circumstances during the pandemic, I'm really hoping they're able to recover so they can go back to serving amazing coffee AND gelato. Super friendly and outgoing staff in a cute little neighborhood, highly recommend.

Got a caramel macchiato milkshake with an added shot of espresso, and it is delicious to say the least. The man behind the counter was very polite, friendly, and talkative, but not overly so. 2nd best coffee shop in the entire metro area IMO

The most delicious dirty chai I have ever had. Their latte's are really good too but I just cannot get enough of that housemade chai. Service is always wonderful. I always take our out of town guests here. A+++++++++

Literally THE BEST! We buy coffee (Ethiopian Harrar) and gelato (Coconut Stracciatella) online here regularly. It's the best. This week, I treated myself and got a Pumpkin Spice Latte with Oatmilk, SO delicious.

Best coffee and Gelato in Portland! I'm so happy I found this place because they sell the highest quality of beans for the most affordable price. You can tell its fresh and has not been sitting around like you mind in most grocery stores. The owner is extremely nice and trustworthy. The gelato is probably the best I've ever had to be honest. He makes it fresh every morning and the taste definitely backs it up! Super blessed they are staying open during the pandemic offering online orders and curbside pickup because we need places like these to stay open during these hard times! Can't go wrong supporting a local business like Affogato.

Such a cute and intimate spot! I was greeted by Molly who’s bright personality made me feel right at home. She walked me through the menu and offered me samples of their delicious gelato. Cookies and cream is a winner! I had the chia latter, which I enjoyed very much. If you’re looking for a relaxing and clean atmosphere with a wonderful menu, don’t hesitate to check out Affogato. I've been coming almost weekly for an affogato ever since I moved into the area, and I don't plan on stopping. This is the kind of place people obviously stop by at on a regular basis. You can get coffee beans roasted by the owner, delicious house-made gelato, and house-made chais and flavored lattes. A St. John's staple!

I had the single best dirty chai of my LIFE here yesterday. I'll definitely be coming back for another soon.

Only been here once, really good! 4 stars as we didn't try much. The gelato was really good and made in house. The affogato I had was a really rich espresso over vanilla gelato. Was really good after the gelato melted a bit. If we lived nearby I'd frequent often I'm sure.

My girlfriend looked her coffee, but I was surprised they don't have tea.

Just stopped for a gelato only and damn it was good, interesting flavors too, encountered the Coconut Stracciatella and enjoyed every little piece of it, even the yummy cone. Didnt try the coffee tho, I'm sure it's really good.

They make a terrific iced mocha. The interior seating is fine for a small group, but a bit lacking if you have more people. The outside picnic tables are a great option if traffic isn't too heavy at the time.

Not only is their coffee delicious, but they also have an amazing homemade chai with fresh ginger!! I bought their beans to grind and prepare at home, too, and was always happy and satisfied with their selection of beans from various coffee regions around the world!

Wowza! Best affogato on the planet. I could order one of those every day for the rest of my life. And the gelato I tried (fresh mint & chocolate chunks) was delicious. One of the rare gelato places I've been to that actually use fresh mint leaves instead of some kind of nasty mint oil or extract.

Was in the area and came across this nice little shop. The (assumed) owner was super nice! I got an affogato with a scoop of Oreos and cream. It was great! Friendly service, good flavor, decent price, and very convenient hours.

Excellent Affogatos! The previous 5 star reviews are all right. They are friendly, and experts in what they recommend. Me and my wife went here because of what we read on the review board and we were very surprised to find out they are true. Our barista knew all popular flavors and was confident in her recommendation. I had the stracciatella caramel expresso AFFOGATO and I'm not a big coffee person, but this blew me away. And my wife had the vanilla caramel Affogato. This shop is next to the corner and it does not have a huge sign. So make sure you look in the window for the sign. It is a small coffe shop that makes big flavors! We'll be back!

A stand-out in a city of stand-out coffee shops. Excellent dark and rich espresso is a natural poured over great ice cream. Above average friendliness and very good value (hard to find an affogato anywhere else for less than $5). We'll be back!

The cold brew was everything my life needs and I had a delicious and reasonably priced toasted bagel with cream cheese. I sat at a cute, 1 or 2 seater round table inside - one of a few cozy places to sit in this small, charming spot. They have some outdoor seating as well.

Their coffee is seriously out of this world. Yum. Plus gelato. Hello!? Their gelato is all handcrafted and they often have crazy yummy seasonal options. My favorite is the coconut straciatella.

My sister and I stopped by Affogato on the recommendation from a tattoo artist down the street. I ordered an americano and my sister got an affogato with salted caramel ice cream. Both were delicious! Good service, great coffee, & tasty ice cream

This little hole in the wall will make you think twice about going in but the people behind the counter make something truly fantastic. I was unsure of the gelato. Small freezer, 4 flavors and lots of coffee. I mean lots of coffee! Anyway, Salted Carmel was wonderful and it actually tasted like salted carmel unlike Alotto which fails in comparison to what you find at Affogato. The vegan Stracciattella was soooo good! The chocolate was flaky and melted in your mouth rather than being waxy or chalky. The use of coconut milk was a great combo. The Raspberry gelato was equally amazing. One downfall, there is so much coffee there that you can taste it in the gelato, not a bad thing but a refined palette can find it. On the topic of the coffee, $9/lb and they have Ethiopia Harrar. What?! I will most definitly go out of my way just to visit here many more times in the future. I love this place!
