I've been eating here once in a while for at least 5 years. My husband and I don't go out to eat very much (just this place and sushi) and it's always exciting when we do. The halibut tacos used to be really good. The service has never been good or friendly so I wonder where the friendly folks are from all the good reviews? Server was sloppy, and not friendly at all. She seemed put out that she had not heard my order correctly over the phone and then the guy making our food seemed confused about having to make an additional order of tacos. Good grief. They were the only people in the store and it was slow- why does it take 15 minutes to put 6 tacos with a premade filling together? I felt unwelcome and then our tacos were cold and sloppy and the fish didn't taste good. Yikes.

Omg is this place good. Rolled up on a Sunday morning so was skeptical when there was only 1 more customer here, but service was friendly so we tried it. Large latte and large americano with a large sausage breakfast burrito plus jalapeños. It was one of my top 3 breakfast burritos of all time- incredible.

Had an early train and was hoping to get something before departure. Open sign was on. Walk up to order and the guy said we’re not open. Didn’t know when they’d open. Totally un interested in helping us and seemed annoyed that we even approached him. Very disappointed in lack of hospitality esp after reading reviews.

Very good place to eat a sandwich, they have beers, wine, fast and tasty food, they have a place to order in the car. They open all year round. I liked it.

At first, it’s real confusing. Looks like a drive-in but actually has a place to sit down. The food is absolutely outstanding really good fish tacos bathroom situation is rather unusual and I’ll leave it at that. They proudly display their work orders from the town of Anchorage.

We ordered the breakfast burrito with Salmon and they charged us an additional $3 for the “salmon” even though its not listed on the menu. The woman at the register sounded like she just made that up to charge a bit extra. Not a problem if you charge $15 for a burrito, but don’t be sneaky about it

Usually I do not write poor reviews, especially for local businesses. However, I had a poor experience this morning while ordering a coffee and a red bull before work. I overheard the barista say “someone has to be coked up to have a coffee and Red Bull.” Terrible customer service.

A friend recommended I try the breakfast burrito and I am so glad I did. I've had it a couple times now and it slaps every time. A perfect meal, do not miss it! Friendly & fast service. Love this place!

Adorable place to stop for a quick drink to warm you up! Haven't tried the food, but stopped there almost daily when I visited my friend!

The smoked salmon burrito was phenomenal. As a New Yorker I’m used to cold smoke salmon and was surprised to try the salmon in this burger but I loved every bite.

This was disappointing. I was excited to try the halibut fish and chips but the batter coating wasn't crispy at all. The meal was ready super fast, which was good, but makes me wonder if it was already prepared and that's why it wasn't crispy. Just an okay meal so I won't return.

Now, I hear that the barista or the chef are not always there to get you squared away but I got lucky. I mean talk about great service, great food, and the coffee- yes please. I am so coming back. I hope I continue to have the chef and barista at the same time, ha. Great job AK.

Very uninformed staff, rude. Asked for cold brew stated that they were out it was brewing currently and would be ready tomorrow. Tomorrow comes I walk there, they don't even sell cold brew according to today staff?

Needed a Mocha Breve' due to it being late & Coffee Queen, Cafe De' Arte & even Boom Coffee was closed. I don't know why Baristas are not taught how to prepare, pack & pull a decent espresso shot. It's upsetting because Steaming NOT Scalding the "half & half"... Not regular whole milk "for a breve'. Both have to be done for the Latte' to be correct

Crazy amazing food and super large portions, definitely worth the $$. We had fish and chips and coffee, both of which were surprisingly affordable and delicious. Everyone working was super kind, and the overall vibe was very relaxed. We LOVED this place!

Just recently tried this place out and I have to say that they have probably the best breakfast burrito in town..The breakfast sandwiches are also off the chain and as an old skool Spenard skater guy I love the trendy/hipster steam punk vibe...This place has officially locked its place in my roation..

Customer service: the best in town, super friendly, and always welcoming no matter what time of the day. In this day, it seems hard to find good people who still smile and serve, not expecting a tip either. They are the first place in town that don't ask for a tip, which we love tipping companies that don't expect or ask. Coffee: not only is the coffee the best in town, but also the lowest in price. Food: all I can say is wow, this business knows how to serve top quality 👌 all around. The bacon cheese burger and fries is the first and only food we've tried so far. I'm excited to give the rest of their menu a try! If you are looking for a really good place to grab a bite to eat, or just a coffee, I highly recommend this business. You'll definitely fall in love with the service.

I stopped for just a coffee but left with a couple burritos. They were the best breakfast burritos ive ever had. I got the half pound chorizo and it was more than enough. It took less than 5 mins to make and worth the $9.

We order halibut fish and chips with extra fish,it was horrible!!! All our fish was burnt-out the taste was disgusting 🤮 We will not be ordering from here no more!!!!! WASTED OUR $50 DOLLARS!!!

Blown away, best Halibut Tacos by far!

The food and coffee (cappuccino with caramel syrup) was amazing. Stopped by because it was one of the few places open on Christmas. Workers were super friendly, plus the Star Wars Christmas sweater was amusing too.

Reindeer sausage breakfast burrito. Are you kidding me!?!? So good. But...didn't expect the Smoked salmon version to be even better! Gotta be one of the best things I ate in Anchorage! Really nice people too! Even at 6am.

The place looked at little run down driving by it, but I finally got around to looking up their menu and once I did, I HAD to try it! I got the smoked salmon breakfast burrito, soooo good! I was going to try one of the smoothies, but they only had peach and barely enough of that. So I asked what their best coffee flavor was and I don't even remember it was peanut butter some kind of cookie and white chocolate, so I went with that one and it was so good! The right amount of sweetness and strength. I wish I went back again, because I'm incredibly interested and curious about the Reindeer Crunchwrap!

This roadside coffee stand is totally Alaskan. The building seemed cobbled together, as is the seating area. The drinks are good, the food is fine, and the service great.

This place was shocking! I did not expect such quality food from a drive up/window service spot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The halibut tacos were superb.

This place serves very delicious food. The reindeer crunch wrap was out-of-this-world delicious. I’d say the same for the 1 lb smoked salmon burrito. The portions were very generous. We went thrice while we were in the area! You should not miss this while in Anchorage!😋

I was on a search for the best halibut tacos in anchorage and surrounds. After checking out 7 different places, I can say that I thought theirs were the best. Perfect balance of halibut and sauce in a corn tortilla that is first melted with cheddar cheese. Really really good!

Only eaten from here a handful of times, always satisfied and full. Hit or miss with cafe/espresso. One of few places to get espresso after 6. (Greatly appreciated btw💌) Chill vibes, great service and informative crew.

I got a bacon busict breakfast sandwich and this was one of the best sandwiches around and my mom got the sausage and it was huge and both were delicious 😋 try them out

I actually kind of liked this place until the owner yelled at me to get off his property all because I stopped at 6am, the time it says they open, and asked when they would be open. I didn't go near him or the building. I would avoid this place. The proprietor doesn't know customer service or deserve your business. I will never go back myself.

Oh my God amazing food. My hat really goes off to this place. Their reindeer ANYTHING is worth getting. I've had crunch wrap, nachos and cheese fries and they all just made me want to go back for more. My mouth is watering just thinking about them honestly. I'll probably eventually get through the menu. The staff is always super sweet and friendly and definitely worth tipping.

We ordered the fish n chips (halibut) and the fish tacos (also halibut). The fish n chips were very good. In fact the fries were amazing - coated with spices and remained crisp even under the fish. The fish tacos were the best we've ever had. So much flavor. Very surprised.

Came here for a dinner and a beer. Had the Reindeer Crunch Wrap and it was so tasty and filling! Ground reindeer, crunchy tortilla chips, cheese, lettuce and pico de gallo wrapped in a tortilla! Service is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Blue Raspberry, Guava and Coconut do not mix. The redbull soda was disgusting. I chose blue raspberry and asked to be surprised, let’s just say I was surprised by the disgusting combination

We were here back in June of 2022 and had breakfast sandwiches. They were very good and the girl working was very friendly and helpful. Good place to stop for a quick breakfast.

Went to get a drink with no Ice then after tried it told the barista I thought it taste like too much syrup asked her to top it off. She told me she can fill it up with water, I told her that’s fine. She told if I don’t like her drinks I can go somewhere else and she’s the manager. Paid $7.00 and $2.00 tip what a rip off. no quality control. Lady who is the manager flirting with hospital staff also not professional.

Went to the Hospital location at Alaska Regional Hospital asked lady for no ice and told her the drink tasted like too much syrup asked her to go off the Lotus she said she will but it’s rude I didn’t like the way she made my drink she filled the rest with water I said that was fine instead of soda water. She asked me to leave and go somewhere else if I don’t like her drinks and she’s the manager. Paid $7.00 and $2.00 tip what a rip off!

I love coming heret. The halibut fish and chips are everything you would hope for. This time I got the Reindeer Crunch Wrap and let me tell you! You NEED to eat this! It is the perfect combination of an Alaskan staple and comfort food. And if that's not for you, there are plenty of other options. The whole establishment has a nice vibe and I've never had to wait to grab a seat. Seriously, come grab a beer and some of this food, it's absolutely worth the price!

AK Alchemist was our go to place for breakfast for two mornings on a recent pre cruise visit to Anchorage. Really enjoyed the Reindeer sausage breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito. Had dinner here one night and had the Halibut tacos and Halibut quesadia. They were okay, would have liked more Halibut in each. All the staff that served us in the morning and evening were super friendly. Prices were also good in comparison to other local restaurants. Place was a bright spot for us as we were stuck in a dingy Ramada Inn a street over.

Awesome breakfast burritos and coffee to get going in the morning. Did the 1/2 pound version but they have a 1 pounder if you're starving. One of the better places in Anchorage. I'll be back

Since moving nearby my wife has gone here almost every day and brings home some of the best food in town every time, the coffee is great but the breakfast burritos are even better! The service is a little slow but that's to be expected since they make all the food as its ordered, its so fresh and tasty!

Amazing 10/10 the reindeer crunch wrap is a must

The server was rude and made me uncomfortable. I think she was high or intoxicated. We waited 45 min for fish and chips, left before it was ready as i couldn't wait any longer.. The server was licking her fingers after handing us drinks. I was excited to try this place and it was just a really bad experience.

Go here for the experience as much as anything. The good and beer were fine, but it was the ambiance and quirky servers that made it fun. I mean, I'm not sure the owner wanted us to have the kind of experience we did, but they're his people.

What a wonderful dining experience we (2 in our party) had this last Saturday at AK Alchemist on 4th Avenue. We were greeted and served by Kelcie, she was a breath of fresh air, with a kind, and cheerful personality (and just gorgeous). Our reindeer and halibut were cooked to perfection (thank you to the chef), the portions of both of our entrees was too much for us to eat so we both had leftovers, and the price for the entrees (amount of food we received) was less than we have paid at several other equal type of restaurants. We sat outside and other than some sporadic loud traffic, it was absolutely enjoyable sitting in the beautiful weather, with a fabulous server and dining on delicious reindeer, halibut and the best (fresh, crispy, hot) french fries. Thank you AK Alchemist for making our dining with your restaurant an A++++++ experience!

My wife and I shared - and thoroughly enjoyed - the halibut and chips very much. We usually share our dinners because we are not big eaters, and the truth is, we couldn’t even eat all our chips….although we made sure we ate all the fish. But don’t get me wrong, the chips were done perfectly. They were so good, I didn’t even need to use ketchup with them because I didn’t want to spoil the great taste. The lady who served us, Kelsey I believe her name was, was as pleasant as they come….born and raised in Alaska too. You eat outdoors, which was just fine with us. The weather was in the 70s so it felt good to feel the breeze. If you don’t want fish and chips, no worry, plenty more to choose from. I think they even have reindeer something, but I couldn’t eat that because I have been feeding about 10-20 deer every day at home for the past three years. I couldn’t eat Bambi ! Anyhow, I digressed. The place is not located in a “restaurant heavy area” so to me, it was a bit of a surprise….a pleasant one at that. Try it out and see for yourself. Cheers.

Okay, so… let me preface this by explaining that I actually really like the coffee and food at this place. However, at the time of writing (04/17/22) I have been there within 10 minutes after opening and the cook has had to politely tell me I couldn’t get anything because the barista was late. This has happened a handful of times in a row and is honestly inexcusable. I’m going to start trying out Rush just right up the road.

Food is really good, and a fun place to hang out in downtown. Downside is they are really slow.

So the service here is good, nice, friendly staff. The food is good but I have noticed they are inconsistent on how things are made and served. At some point I have really liked a dishes and have ordered them again on a different visits and have been sadly disappointed. I keep going back to try new plates which come out great, I just know not to expect the same when I want it again.

Workers are always polite, they went out of their way to make me Vegan Burrito! I also like how they use shredded potatoes in their burritos. My favorite place from now on.

Food is great, coming from next door, the environment is causal and relaxing. Don't expect very attentive serving, but I think this is Alaska culture. Causal and be yourself.. love it.

An Awesome recommendation for places to eat in Anchorage. Food was amazing, especially the smoked salmon fries!!! They are to die for, but I can't forget the fish tacos nor the fish & chips either. You get large portions, for sure, more than your money's worth, because we had doggy bags. There's dine in at the bar or outside patio options.This place is a must!!!!!
