Amazing sushi spot. one yr of being open chef Leo never disappoints! all his creations are great. had many dishes but yo start we had the eggplant ponzu which is to die for. cant wait to be back again

One of the best spots to get high quality sushi in Studio City! The crispy tuna rice and soft shell crab appetizers are great too.

Went here 5/1/2024 for lunch service Hostess greeted me at the door. Sat at the bar and got Chirashi and Hokkaido Uni. Chirashi comes with soup and salad. Miso soup has tofu and chives, house salad has great dressing mixed in and the tomato on top the skin was peeled, sweetness burst in my mouth! Delicious. Chirashi has a mountain variety full of fish. Comes with what looks like octopus, sweet shrimp, crab, salmon, tuna, chutoro, albacore, yellowtail, seared white fish, 2 sweet scallops. The rice underneath was seasoned with seaweed and pickled seaweed. Very tasty! Also the rice is from hokkaido! Really great rice texture! Hokkaido Uni was very delicious! Definitely a treat! Service is great! My tea cup was never empty. Will definitely come again and try their omakase.

Very high quality sushi and the chef is awesome. I gave him a budget and he put together a custom omakase experience for us. We really enjoyed it. Atmosphere could use a little more warmth. Lighting at the bar was also a little too bright. Highly recommend.

Amazing! I had the avocado cucumber roll. My husband had the dragon roll (Decorated like an actual dragon! Omg! Art! He wouldn't let me take a pic!) and futomaki roll. The service was polite and informed and quick. No wait for a table on a Saturday night! Delicious. Must try! Wonderful beer and alcohol selection. We had three beers. Loved the music and ambiance. It was quiet and comfortable/cozy after a long day. Thank you for the lovely meal .

Really good sushi in the area. Great service (especially the sushi chef Leo) we love his sense of humor. You must try the Japanese uni, blue fin tuna, monk fish liver and Spanish mackerel. My mom said their uni was the best she’s ever had. Trust me, she’s been to hundreds of sushi places. I’m so glad we found a good sushi place near our home. Our family loves sushi and our go-to-restaurant is sushi restaurant. I think this place will become our go-to-sushi-place. :) If I could make one small suggestion, the rice could be warmer, i would rate this place 5+.

Akira is some of the best sushi you will find on the West Coast. The chef, Leo, is creative and passionate with his craft. The fish in unbelievably fresh. Ask about the off menu specials, and let Leo finish your dinner with chef’s choice. You’ll have dreams about it

Great place for high quality sushi

Leo, the sushi chef we had, is inspired and his food is outstanding. I recommend sitting at the bar especially if you are in it for the love of fish and not just rolls and sauces.

The premium sushi was good except for soft shell crab which caused my son and I to regurgitate. The sashimi wasn’t pure and was drenched in sauce . The karage and fried squid legs were decent. We enjoyed the udon and sashimi salad. We were hesitant to try the regular sushi since the descriptions mentioned they had sauce. Service was very good . Waiters were attentive. Overall didn’t think the AYCE was worth the price point. Would not go again.

I had one of the best sushi dining experience in Studio City. As a true sushi lover, Akira's food was absolutely delicious, their omakase was super worth it, lots of expensive ingredients for that price, staffs are very knowledgeable and helpful as well, most importantly - chef Leo is fun and take his work very seriously - he is a true perfectionist! There are so many sushi places on Ventura Blvd but this is the spot I'd come back for sure, you can get fresh sushi anywhere but you can't get the same experience elsewhere! You can see I really had a great time! :)

The chef is amazing to arrange all the magical food and explaining details of each dish! It’s far beyond ordinary sushi place, probably the best omakase experience in town. I am lucky that there were three types of uni available that night. Everything fresh, beautifully decorated, special and yum!

How do I even begin to explain how special this place is? Forget what you think exceptional sushi is. Chef Leo has raised the bar with Akira. He is an artist. Exacting, meticulous, and a delight. I took my daughter for her birthday and we sat at the sushi bar and went the omakase route. Amberjack belly with a light brush of truffle oil and a touch of sea salt - OMG. The fatty tuna just melts. There was a course of these beautiful little hand peeled and marinated cherry tomatoes - gorgeous and delicious. Don't hesitate, just go. You will not regret it.

Went with friends and coworkers to the new sushi restaurant in Studio City Akira Sushi. We tried multiple Sashimi, Sushi and Handrolls all were exceptional. The presentation and quality of fish far exceeded my expectation. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Can't wait to go back.

We decided to go in and tried omakase here. To our surprise, it was fabulous. In our course, the nigiri sushi given to us embodied the traditional culture that usually can find in high end sushi restaurants in LA or Tokyo. The chef was able to bring out the fish flavor while striking a perfect balance between texture to sauce. Definitely will come back for another run. (Will provide another update after another random visit with friends.)

Leo's the best! My sister and I have been going to him for our sushi cravings for years. His ... Recipes? I'm not sure what it's called when it comes to nigiri... Always taste great, and I haven't found the same quality or taste elsewhere. He's always smiling and joking around with his diners, too, so the sushi bar seating is highly recommended. My pictures don't do the dishes justice, so if you're ever thinking about heading out to Studio City, definitely stop by. Or just come out just for the sushi, because it's worth it!
