Excellent food, fun cocktails, and great service! I got the enchiladas and there was fresh avocado slices, fresh cilantro, and pico! Full of flavor! Reminded me of a restaurant I went to in Houston! Also had a lovely cocktail that looked and tasted wonderful! Highly recommend! Reasonable prices! Excellent flavors!

Came in on our way back home to Texas. Menu has many options but the food just wasn’t all there as far as taste. I ordered the Bandera Dominican Republic and my spouse had the Pollo con Tajadqs. The shredded beef was very tasty but the rice was dry and hard. Beans needed more flavor. Now the vanilla custard or flan was very rich and tasty. If you live close by stop by.

Wonderful dinner at Area 337. The Palomino frozen drink is going to be my new favorite! Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. Definitely recommend. Nice kids menu.

While the food type isn’t my personal preference, everything was hot, fresh and seasoned well. Good service and nice building. Kind of slow for how (not) busy it was, but not bad.

The environment? Blazing masks on the wall, the seats clean, and Salsa del Gran Combo or Fania All Stars is heard on the radio - the water ehhh a little salty but it doesn't matter - the ripe ones - sweet, the President - cold, the clothes old - juicy and Cubaó-like, the cassava stuffed chikki but perfect and hot, and the portions - so filling! If you are in Lake Charles for any reason- don't go anywhere else for Caribbean food!

The food was amazing if you were willing to dry foods from different cultures. He uses a lot of plantains in his dishes, which I like. His Mojitos are amazing as well.

Do not leave your wallet or money unattended! My big mistake! Now I cannot get my car repaired after losing a few thousand out of my cash I stupidly left behind. I should have known right away when I had to go retrieve the envelope from the staff all looking like a deer caught in the headlights. I was the only customer there in that seat so there was no question who's it was. I should have counted it right away but at the moment I was greatful to get back any. My car is all I have for a home. I just lost my home from a tornado. It was no great surprise when I did count it money was missing but I wasn't expecting nearly half to be gone. It zapped the life out of me when I counted. I had just cashed an insurance check that is everything I have to live with and repair vehicle. I am disabled and get nothing. I hope everyone enjoys themselves with my money.

First time here and the Mojito was very good but the food and the service was even better. (I appologize for not getting the barkeeps name) I hate to give this review for selfish reasons. I know that the more people who know about this is a hidden gem the become harder it will be to get into. I appreciate the hospitality, the exceptional food and the atmosphere. Thanks again.

Ordered the Vaca Frita with Cuban Rice and Mofungo. Had no idea what the Mofungo was, but the waitress was really helpful and explained it well! Everything was great and reminded me as if I was in a little Soda on the side of the road in Costa Rica again!

Food is Great.. The amount of food is plentiful, enough for two people.

This was my first time here, so I had no idea what to order.....I was recommended the bandeja paisa by Marcos, it was the best dish for a variety of meats. The taste was out of this world. When I come back to lake charles...I'll definitely be back to get this authentic latin food. Ohh and I can't forget about the passion fruit cheese cake and the Tres Leche Cake....both items are made in house like everything else on the menu.

One of the best secrets in LC! 337 has the most amazing Latin/Caribbean based dishes one can find. I've yet to try anything on the menu that wasn't "roll your eyes" good. The staff is always friendly & helpful. The facilities & parking are limited but clean & cheerful. If looking for something to eat just a bit off the "same ol, same ol" do yourself a favor and pay more attention as you drive along Kirkman.

I absolutely love this place. In a small region such as SWLA, it is hard to find authentic cuisine. Chef Gus nails it every time. Give it a shot and support a great local spot.

For a first time visit, we were very impressed with the service and the food. I tried mofongo for the first time and it was very tasty. In a city overrun with Mexican restaurants this place stands out with unique food and great service from the second you walk in!

I wish I could give this restaurant more than five stars because they deserve it… Gus is Such a nice guy… His staff is wonderful. The food is 2nd to none. This is my favorite restaurant to go to. Do yourself a favor and go try it out. You will not be disappointed.

The atmosphere is warm and comforting. The owners are so kind and gracious. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience Latin cuisine at it's Finest!

The mofongo was flavorless and the Puerto Rican rice tasted burnt. Service was good and atmosphere was great.

We have had consistently great experiences here. The food is top tier and the service has been wonderful.

I'm very happy with the flavors, first time here. We order empanadas (the best are beef) plus spicy sauce. Bandeja paisa (my favorite of all), churrasco plate (meat was requested medium wear and was chewy great greasesoning just not my favorite and $$$), fried tilapia serve with rice, tomatoes wedges and lettuce (friend was very pleased) and cabrito (nice tender, good flavor in a red sauce 😋 small portion , can't have all the glory) a to die for fresh berries mojito and tres leches(delicious also a very small portion and $$$) The place is pretty small almost crowded.

Our 1st time here, Marcus took care of us with old school service. He was the best server we have had in 15 years! He took the time to explain the cuisine, the tres Leche cake was the best I've had in a long time, and we had coffee to end the wonderful experience, thank you 😊

Fantastic food and a awesome cultural approach and contact with the local people. My fav was the Zydeco party with Rusty Metoyer.

Excellent food, just like my mother use to make. Pork roast , tostones and empanadas were outstanding so was the stewed beef. Highly recommended for carribean food especially Dominican food.

Area 337 is amazing…There pork chops are great. I also had there Oxtail stew with Puertorican rice delicious. Gustavo and Area337 are here to stay!! I recommend it to the world

Food was delicious. Owner is extremely friendly and gives you plenty of information on what is in each dish.

The owners are so welcoming and nice. They will explain anything on the menu, they make u feel like family there. The food is so delicious. The margaritas are the bomb. Will most definitely return. Thr prices aren't expensive. My 18mth old even enjoyed it.

Very cool place with a great atmosphere. The outdoor seating space is extremely cool and quite welcoming. The food is amazing and authentic. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel like a longtime friend. I had the blondie arepa, chicken and beef empanadas, puerto rican rice and they were all delicious. I also got the 3 leches cake for dessert but I’m so stuffed that I have to wait to eat it. I’m sure it will be just as delicious. I will definitely be back as their menu is quite extensive and I’ll have to try some of the other items. The prices are also quite reasonable (not cheap) for the quality and portions you receive. I already want to go back and try other items on their menu!

I come from Atlanta for work, This is The best Restaurant of Lake Charles!!!!

This was our first visit and did so upon recommendation. We were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. Guillermo was our server and did a great job of explaining the menu and taking time to answer our questions. His recommendations were great and we enjoyed the food and our time at Area 337. We will definitely be dining here again. I highly recommend giving Area 337 a try!!

Had the yucca balls (with beef) and the cubano. The food and service is OUTSTANDING. If you want truly authentic Latin food that is amazing, you have to try this place out!

Yhe Chicken Arepas are delicious!

We enjoyed lunch yesterday afternoon. Boss had the seafood gumbo and said the flavors were on point. I had the chicken stew. It was excellent. 🤗

My favorite place in Lake Charles.

Much nicer that I imagined from the location. It's a little gem comfortably tucked away. With specialty drinks and beautifully garnished food, I can tell they put their hearts into this place. I expect them to outgrow this space as the news gets out that this is one of Lake Charles' best kept secrets!

My husband and I went for lunch, our first time and from the moment we walked in Gus and his staff was amazing! Drinks, food, service was the best! We weren’t sure what to order so Gus started us off with empanadas, yucca balls then shrimp cocktail! All delicious! We will definitely be back, we want to try everything on the menu!! I’m so glad y’all are reopened! New items on the menu! I got a Cuban sandwich this was a special btw it’s was so savory each layer was made to perfection and I mean it I’m from South FL grew up eating Cuban sandwich Gus and crew did there thing with this one. Don’t let me get started with the Yuca balls I am not sure what y’all are doing differently this time but the cheese pull woah and the outside of the yuca ball it was absolutely delicious.

Great food, atmosphere and service. The owner chased us down outside when we were leaving to make sure we enjoyed our visit and invited us to come back! Amazing service! We will be back soon!

The best Latin food in this city and the next

Nice place with variety of latino food. We ordered the Surf and Turf and Pollo con Tajadas (Honduran). Very tasty. The yucca was delicious too. For dessert we had a tres leches cake! It was so yummy! Really recommend this place. It's pretty busy so expect a wait. (Very worth it)

I had the Cuban special and it was amazing. The butter and flavor from the pork is like a little flavor explosion in your mouth! It was soo good.

Area 337 is probably, hands down, the best restaurant in Lake Charles. Every time I go in, I’m addressed by my name and always get a hug from the owner. They are so kind and welcoming and make it a priority to know their patrons. The food is 10/10 and the service is even better. Don’t pass up the opportunity to visit this restaurant if you’re in the area.

What a great place! The food is amazing and the service is top notch. Gus is out in the dining area visiting everyone and answering questions.

The food was good. We sat outside which was really nice weather for it but nice weather for outside seating is not really a normal thing in south west Louisiana. It's location is not the best neighborhood though and the parking is not very good at this location. The prices are pretty high too.

Great first time experience here. It was a busy Saturday night which was a good sign. The place had a good vibe. I had a Pineapple Mojito which was the best I’ve had. Gus, the owner, waited on us. He was super friendly and helped us select our entrees. We had the chicken stew, pork ribeye, mofongo, and Puerto Rican rice. Delicious and flavorful. We will definitely return!

My first visit here was yesterday at lunch and oh my goodness, this place is fantastic. The parking lot is off the shoulder of the road so we were having a hard time parking. One of the workers came out and helped us, motioning us to pull forward. It was very helpful! As soon as we came in we were greeted by the same man. He was so welcoming, asked me how I was doing and shook my hand, then shook my boyfriends hand. He was telling us as we were walking to the table that the plates will be filled with color :) he pulled out our chairs to seat and left us to look at the menu. We ordered the grilled mozzarella appetizer. It was GREAT. I ordered the Pollo con tajadas for my meal and it was so delicious. The chicken was crispy and not at all greasy, just perfectly fried and clean. The fried green Bananas were specular and tasted so refreshing. I loved it. This one visit has this restaurant at the top of my favorite lists. The guy from earlier came in and checked in on us and asked about the food. I'm pretty sure he was either the cook or the owner, or both! Our waitress was a really nice lady who's recommendations were great when we weren't sure on what to order. I 100% recommend this place, I will be there again. The food is great and very tasty.
