I stopped by today to try their food, saw them on instagram a while ago and the food looked good so I wanted to try it. However when I went the store was locked up and locked empty inside even though it says they are open on google ):

I was very confused upon entering as this is apparently a ghost kitchen. The only indication that asado is here was a chalkboard menu below the other Mexican restaurant's menu. I'm not sure where the restaurant pictures online are from... but it's not Maplewood Village. The chicken birria tacos were delicious though. The fish tacos were okay.

I never leave reviews on places I visit, but I definitely have to let everyone know that these are the best tacos and smoked chicken in NJ in my opinion! Top quality ingredients, amazing taste and flawless execution! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Best birria tacos I’ve ever had! Honestly some of the best tacos I’ve ever had, period. Guac was also excellent - very fresh and very large portion. Can’t wait to return!

Stopped by to takeout the chicken birria tacos. My only other exposure to birria was in San Diego, and Asado's version is quite different. While it comes with the traditional consomme and toppings, the meat itself is very sweet, almost like barbecued chicken rather than the traditional Mexican version. Nevertheless, the tacos were good and had a mild spicy (almost mustardy) kick. They were also packaged very nicely for takeout.

The food was absolutely excellent. The woman that works there was quite nice but doesn’t speak English. This wasn’t an issue because we used a translation app and got along fine. Despite some of the following quirks, the experience and food was so good that we will definitely be back. A couple things to know; There are no servers at the restaurant. You go to a kiosk and place your order. There are not fields to ask for customization - like we wanted one dish without onions. So we needed to talk to someone in the restaurant. All food is delivered on a shelf and in a takeout bag. (Customer names aren’t typically announced so you have to be on top of it) There are a couple tables where you can eat in the restaurant (each with a swing seat - so you might be able to push it aside if you had a wheelchair) There are no garbage cans and you leave your empty containers on the table. Someone comes out and cleans the table. There are a couple tables where you can sit and eat.

The food is so good here. Even if you have left overs and reheat them they taste just as good as the first time. This place is super low key and doesn’t look like much at first but the tacos have so much flavor and are simply perfect.

The food is amazing. This is my go-to order, and it never lets me down. Pulled Chicken Birria, Savory Red Rice & Beans, Ginger Pineapple Agua Fresca. Give it try you won't be disappointed.

A bit weird of a set up but amazing food. Straight to the point. Be carefrul when waiting for your food, the benches look fun but if you swing them too much you might have a bit of a scare. Great food.

My first time. The cod tacos are to die for. I can't wait to visit again.

Best tacos I’ve ever had! Only 3 choices (chicken, fish, mushroom), but maybe that’s why they are out of this world! I would recommend take out (seemed that most people were doing that - we ate on the only table outside).

I will be craving this meal for a long time. The half chicken is enough for two and make sure to try the corn.

Holy moly! The best tacos I've eaten in my long career as a taco lover. Mind blowing, changed my whole understanding of what a taco can be. Five stars is not enough. Even at $5 per taco, completely worth it. These tacos are PACKED to the brim with smoked meats, pickled onions, and special sauces. They are so generous with the portions I've never finished my plate here because I get full after two. The chicken tacos are my favorite.

Was hungry so decided to give this place a try. I'm so glad I did. Upon entry I was confused as there was no one in there staff or anything but I then realized you place your own order on the machine. I was a little disappointed as there was a bell for help I rang it as I needed my reciept and the machine was just printing blank paper but the lady that came out there was a language barrier so she wasn't able to help. The food however was amazing. I got the signature asado tacos which were amazing I also got the watermelon Fresca which was good too.

Nice to see a place like this pop up on Springfield Ave. Food was really fresh and tasty. When the word gets out I am sure there will be a long wait. It was a pleasant surprise to be this good for take out.

The food is excellent best fish tacos

All the reviews are spot on. The wood fire Chicken has a slightly smokey hint, perfectly tender, and is complimented by a delicious and light, yet crisp house slaw, jalepeno ranch crema, pico, monterey jack cheese, and a amazing "rich in corn flavor" house made tortilla. A great chew, and strong enough to hold everything together w/out falling apart. 3 of these for $14. 100% worth it. I finished them in about 6 minutes, and then went back to order the Fried Cod tacos (fantastic as well). Habanero crema, fresh avocado, pickled red onion, pico, etc....Combine that with one of their fresh beverages and you have a mightly winner. Friendly people, cute swing seat outside for sitting. Will I return? Hopefully next weekend. Great Great experience and well worth the drive.

The cod fish tacos, and consume. So delicious. I ordered the mushroom tacos as well,that was good, but my favorite is the fish. This place will be successful because the quality of food fresh and flavorful.

Small tacos spot elevating Springfield Ave. There are two small tables inside the waiting area, with swing seats...very cute. They also have a larger version of the bench/swing out front. You can order on the app, or their kiosk inside...the food it brought out to you, or will be placed on their food shelf. I had the the birria tacos, which were delicious and very generously filled. Would definitely recommend a visit, and worth a drive if you're not local.

We will be back! The chicken tacos were out of this world. Also loved the fish tacos, corn, and guac. Friendly staff and owner too!

I got the chicken birria tacos and they had great flavor. Pineapple agua fresco was delicious and refreshing. Will definitely be back to try other items.

Amazing food. Easy ordering and pickup.

I was very happy with the 1/2 chicken I ordered. Very juicy and tasty. The red rice was perfectly cooked, with a nice tang to it. The black beans were creamy and went great with the meal. The only note I will make is that the menu says it comes with tortillas, which is true, but they come cut into chip size pieces,not whole tortilla which could be used for making your own tacos. Im sure ig you specify they will give you them uncut. This mean inspired me to make the whole meal at home again a few days later it was so good. Would definately go again.

Highly recommend you trying Asado. Delicious chicken, tacos, bowls. Everything is super fresh and tasty.

The food was prepared quickly, and the staff was insanely happy and friendly. Perfectly seasoned, extremely fresh, and worth every Single penny. Ditch the Taco Bell and fast food, spend the same here, and have an amazing meal. The street corn is a must.

The most delicious food I’ve ever had and my new fav rotors spot. Asado is worthy of 5 stars. The attention to detail in the flavors of the food and the presentation is amazing. The consommé and birria are delicious, and I think leans more towards ginger than cinnamon which I love while still packing spice and heat!!! The elote is delicious and cut straight from the cob itself, with fresh cheese and lime and sauce. Somebody else said in their review that they wish they ordered double and I completely agree!! My partner and I could split a serving of tacos but double down on the guacamole and tostones and elote- they are absolutely delicious. The pineapple agua Fresca is perfectly sweet and fresh. My new favorite spot!! And on top of that- the staff is super sweet. 5 stars all around!!!

Take away food only. Ready on time. And really really good!!! Tostones are fresh and crispy, guacamole delicious. The tacos are fantastic! Give it a try!!

Had the vegan tacos, BEST TACOS I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE.

Let me tell you about this new Maplewood hot spot! First props go to it being black owned! You can definitely taste their African influence in the way they’ve upgraded these classic Mexican menu items. The food is so well flavored & deliciously savory, you get generous portions & the spices are on point! Pair that with quick service, passionate owners & rustic decor and it’s an A+ across the board. The smokiness of the chopped mushroom birria was soo soooo good, their sweet corn was off the cob so you can enjoy the flavorful kernels without getting your hands messy, the chopped chicken tacos were stacked with condiments and spices and were so deliciously filling, the sauce on the side to dip the tacos took the flavors to a whole other level & the guac and tostones were generously portioned and tasted amazing! Oh and did I mention that they have agave sweetened exotic juice options like pineapple ginger and hibiscus strawberry, yummmmm! AND they have vegetarian options too! As someone’s who’s very picky with her taste in food, trust me when I say you can’t go wrong ordering your meal from here. Just place the order from their website, pick up on arrival and go. Or choose delivery like I did today! It’s that simple. Run to this spot! Your tastebuds wont regret it one bit!

New taco spot in the neighborhood… and it’s good! We are finishing up meatless March, so couldn’t test all the fixings, but the veggies eats were tasty, fresh, and filling. We had mushroom tacos (big!) and elote (crunchy) but the black bean soup was the stand out for me. Perfectly seasoned. Can’t wait to try more!

Loved my experience at Asado! The food was absolutely delicious. The employees and owner were so friendly and communicative. Highly recommend this place.
