Need more stars! This place is a local legend for good reason! I went last night for the first time in probably a year and a half, and I regret that. We sat at the bar last night and were treated like family by Ezra, our esteemed bartender. His knowledge of the cocktails and the menu was pinging the top, and he made the experience THAT much better. Can't wait to come back.

5 star service, food, hospitality, ambience! We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary here on 08/22/24. What a memorable experience filled with amazing food, wine, and dessert. We came in a little early and were pleasantly seated - the lovely table was set with a 'Happy 4th Anniversary' greeting and confetti (how sweet). The server was knowledgable and gave us great suggestions. Everything was delicious. The blue cheese flan is now my husbands' favorite dessert of all time. I was a pastry chef and worked in hospitality for two decades and I will tell you - Atchafalaya has everything. I wish we lived here. We cannot wait to come back. this place is a gem! incredible gumbo et al. we’d been on the trolley and mosy’ing around Magazine street, when we realized it was dinnertime and hunger rang. after seeing great reviews and especially that Atcha was a neighborhood restaurant, we stopped in. the owner, Tony, greeted us warmly, and did not make a fuss that we did not have a reservation. he was kind, funny, and so accommodating! a beautiful and comfortable atmosphere, and then we ate…and the food surpassed our expectations!

As we were reminded at the end of our meal, this was our 16th time to dine at Atchafalaya. So the bar has been set very high over the years. Our 16th had to rank up with all of our best! Heather Dawn’s (HD) service was perfect. Never intrusive, great suggestions, terrific banter- totally spot on! Our choices for apps and dinner were excellent, it’s amazing that the quality has never declined at all. The support staff was always there right on time to do whatever was appropriate. The other thing that amazes me is that whenever we dine, the staff always recognizes that we are returning customers. I’ve NEVER experienced this at any of our finer dining spots. Only at our local hangouts. All in all, another fantastic evening at Atchafalaya! Thanks so much!!!!!!!

The food was good, and so was the service. The only thing I wasn’t pleased with was the 3% credit card surcharge that was not disclosed to us before paying. It was on our receipt once we paid and that’s the only reason we noticed it. It’s wasn’t a huge amount since it was a small party, but it’s the principle of transparency. Pretty sure it’s an illegal practice to not disclose prior to taking payment. Just an FYI for others.

I was able to have their special, the pan seared scallops with pork belly over coconut rice. After the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, and the cocktail Atchafalya, I mopped up some of that delicious dark roux with some of the French bread and honey chive butter. The perfectly seared scallops paired perfectly with the saltiness of the crispy pork belly, and complimented by the creamy coconut rice. I’ll definitely be back for another seafood dish and dessert

We absolutely loved the food here! Customer service was on point. Ann(waitress) was so kind and informative! Everything she recommended we ordered and appreciated. We loved the fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs to start off our meal. To top it off we got the chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and huevos rancheros! We came to celebrate a friend’s birthday after many friends recommended the restaurant. We arrived a few minutes early where we had to wait nearly 30 minutes (25 minutes after our scheduled reservation) because another party was still at our assigned table. We then had to wait 20 more minutes for the bread and our drinks to come to the table. We had to wait an hour and a half from arrival for entrees to get dropped at the table even though we ordered entrees the first time the server came to the table. Once the entrees came, they were not what we ordered where the kitchen had to redo our plates. The cocktails were nothing special, and the food was very lukewarm. The manager came speak with the table and began to question me on if my experience was truly as bad as what I was telling him. Their “apology” was taking care of one round of drinks and one side. Very disappointed in the experience and management’s response.

Our first time at this restaurant. Great food! They were not able to seat us at our Jazz Brunch reservation time. We waited about 15 minutes or so past the time. They did bring us a free side dish as compensation. My only real complaint is that we were seated upstairs where we could not hear the music. We chose this place because we wanted live music with our meal. We were not familiar with the seating to know to ask to be seated downstairs when we made the reservation.

I just wanted to thank the entire team for making this evening such a wonderful experience! I had a few friends visiting from out of town. They had a couple of requests: 1. See the city outside of the Quarter and dine in a “real neighborhood” 2. Awesome local seafood and a fun atmosphere, and 3. They don’t drink alcohol and were hoping I knew somewhere with cool N/A options. Atchafalaya came to mind instantly. Checks every box. Everything was perfect in every way! They of course raved about the food, but kept commenting on the service, which was impeccable! They also said it was the first time in a long time that they’ve looked at a mocktail list and could tell that someone put together with care. It really meant sooo much to them! We had a great visit this morning for brunch. We were a party of 7, so we sat in the front by the bar (which was totally fine). The portions are good, and delicious. Our server (I forget her name) was EXCELLENT. I mean, very friendly and on top of everything...just a delightful person that you wish could wait on you for any dining out experience. I would definitely recommend making reservations too, as it's not the biggest dining room in the city. Five stars all around for sure.

I see this listed as LGBTQ+ friendly and a trans safe space but I really think this is a stretch. The food here is great but I was not made to feel welcome here. I arrived on time for my reservation and waited on the two staff (younger gentleman and older woman) at the front to acknowledge me after I said hello and as I stood right in front of them and was ignored by both. While I was standing there two separate parties arrived by car and came in (both led by older white cis men) and they were immediately greeted by the two staff and taken to their tables. Only after there was no one else coming in and I was still very obviously standing there did the younger gentleman finally acknowledge and attend to me. Once I was finally seated the waitstaff was kind and knowledgeable and took good care of me (and in the midst of a downpour outside). The food here is 5 stars but the two at front of house did not make it feel like a safe or welcome space for me hence the rating of 3 stars.

First time coming to Atchafalaya but will definitely be back! Came for brunch with a friend. Fried green tomato appetizer was delicious- we shared it. They brought small corn muffins which were amazing. Ordered Breakfast risotto (so flavorful) and friend ordered eggs, bacon with biscuit. Only disappointment was biscuit was heavy and dry but jam served with it was good! Mimosas and tea completed the meal. Great, helpful server. Never felt rushed even though we chatted awhile. Great brunch!

A friend and I recently enjoyed a very FUN Birthday Brunch at Atchafalaya. We were warmly welcomed and were seated at the bar while our table was readied. The bartender was wonderful and carried on the warm welcome. We were seated in a very timely manner and had the pleasure of being waited upon by Luis. Luis was friendly and knowledgeable and made some excellent recommendations. Thankfully, he pointed us in the directions of the Shrimp and Grits/Grilled Gulf Fish/a starter of the AMAZING deviled eggs. Topped off with a brunch cocktail, it made for the perfect afternoon celebration!

I passed by the day before and restaurant was closed for an event in the evening. Owner Rachael saw me looking and immediately informed me that they were preparing for an event but if I wanted to have a look at the menu and inside, I could. I was amazed by the professional gesture and booked a table for the next day lunch. And wow, it was a blast. From the greetings at the door from Rachael, wonderful service by Ryan the beverage director and the waiters. The food was amazing. I had the grits with shrimp and the Gumbo. Chef even came to the bar and brought me other dishes to try. Blue cheese flan, exquisite. Definitely a place to try and go back. You will not be disappointed. Atmosphere was very friendly.

Celebrated my birthday at Atchafalaya based on a recommendation for a friend - so consider me your friend, and head to this restaurant! Every detail was perfect from being personally greeted, to the handcrafted cocktails, perfectly decorated table, superior service and dishes. Josh had the jumbo as a starter and I had the soup de jour which was sweet potatoes, crab, coconut milk and cilantro. This was a sych where I had to remind Josh we were in public and bowl licking was not approved. For our entrees, I went with the shrimp and grits which was insanely good. Josh went with a daily special of swordfish with a rice and okra mix and green beans - obviously healthier than my fish but as he described it - it was food art. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It satisfied the stomach and the soul.

Wow. Best menu for a wine tasting I have ever had. The artichoke heart stuffed with lobster,clams and I think crab was great. The depth of character with the Swordfish with the sweet plum sauce and just a bite of spice over a bed of creamed corn that was the best I ever had. While the Waygu short ribs were melt in your mouth delicious, my absolute favorite were the potatoes on the side. What did they do to them! So unique and extremely tasty. Never disappointing. The peach and blueberry buckle at the end paired with a peach belini was the best ending to a fabulous meal.

Yes the atmosphere rivals BKLYN, CHI, LA, LV, MIA, DFW & MTL. but Clay, you Sir made my meal light years. When you visit please ask for Clay and be sure to talk with him. His knowledge and love of the menu is reflected quickly. Sadly I didn't take photos of my meal cuz i enjoy the experience more than through a camera. the hostess and table staff deserve accolades as well. All are attentive and pleasant. They never reached for a dish without asking first and move with purpose and poise. I will someday meet the kitchen staff for post shift cocktail and ensure they understand my appreciation. this review is also for the leadership of Atchafalaya. You've all done great work and investment in quality people and training. Please continue this and share. It was an experience I will treasure continually. til the next, enjoy!

Atchafalaya does not disappoint!!! I read the reviews and their rating is almost spot on…it should be 5/5! We had the fried green tomatoes with butter poached shrimp as an appetizer. The presentation was great and the flavors were very thoughtfully combined with each element of the dish standing out on its own, but the flavor combination was phenomenal. The quiche practically melted in our mouths and was delicious. It came with a gorgeous salad. I had the special fried oyster BLT and again it was fabulous. The sandwich was rich and full of flavorful salty bacon mayo goodness. The richness was cut a little with the addition of fresh dill that gave the BLT an added layer of complexity and balance. (It was dill-icious! 😆) The boat load of fries that came with it were perfectly cooked and tasty. Last but not least, Tara was an excellent and attentive server! Next time we visit New Orleans, we will absolutely be back!!!

Fried oysters on my salad were cut up and battered to the point they were only clumps of batter. Birthday celebration was noted in the reservation but not acknowledged in any way.

For our first trip to NOLA (in July) my wife and I were overwhelmed with the restaurant options—all serving similar menus. Knowing we wanted something genuine and local we came across Atchafalaya and the great reviews. It’s a good ways from downtown but the street car takes you close. We made a reservation for brunch, based on reviews, and I’m glad we did. The restaurant filled up FAST. The food was incredible. We got the crab cakes Benedict and the duck hash. It was the best tasting breakfast I’ve ever had. The service was friendly, warm and engaging. Atchafalaya has a professional executive chef and it’s obvious in the flavor and presentation of the food. Even though there are thousands of food options, if we’re back in NOLA we’re going back to Atchafalaya to try the rest of their menu. Stop reading and make a reservation!

My husband & I were very impressed w/Atchafalaya for Sunday brunch. We live in Oklahoma and travelled to NOLA for vacation. We spoke with the woman owner and a gentleman who seated us, both top notch people. I had the excellent shrimp and grits. My husband ate the red fish. He is extremely picky but could not stop talking about how good the food was. Our server was very attentive, courteous and helpful w/the menu. Every food item was flavorful & fresh down to the fresh squeezed OJ. Pricewise, definitely on the higher end of average, but worth every penny. A wonderful experience and highly recommended! This restaurant will be on our list when we travel back to NOLA.
