Poorly trained staffed. If you are a fine dining establishment, it’s your responsibility to properly train your staff. It wasn’t that they weren’t being polite or trying. It was simply a lack of formal training.

While the service at August was impeccable, unfortunately, the culinary experience fell short of expectations. The Wagyu beef tartare lacked the anticipated depth of flavor, and the gnocchi proved to be disappointingly bland. The overcooked fish further detracted from the meal, as it too was also devoid of any notable taste. It’s regrettable that the food did not meet our standards, as a delightful dining experience hinges not only on excellent service but also on exceptional cuisine. The culinary offerings in no way justify the cost!!

Spoiled by you guys! Best anniversary dinner ever, thank you so much for having us. Keep up the good work (chef, sommelier and waiters)!

There are no words for the experience offered at Restaurant August these days! The attention to the detail is incredible and there is creativity in every bite! Very much enjoyed celebrating my birthday here. The service was impeccable and they really know how to make it special with a few surprises. The food was flavorful but not so much that it would overwhelm your palate. Highly recommend the escargot appetizer and the cornbread!

August has potential for greatness but just lands right outside. The food temps were a little cold, glasses of wine forgotten, and flavors just a tad boring. The room was gorgeous and several of the wait staff were top tier. Dessert was excellent! But for the price, it just felt missing.

Our spot was very dark for older couples hats to read the menu. The food was excellent but portions very small. The chef made me a special birthday dessert that was delicious! The food was exceptionally good. One of the best meals I’ve had in New Orleans. However, the portions were too small and there were no options for sides. In NY, a fish of that size would be in the $30-35 range. I felt the price of $50 was very high. This would definitely be a splurge meal.

Wonderful evening for our anniversary! We ordered the Chef’s Table menu and it was very good! Service by Matt & Annabell was impeccable. Drinks were a little pricey and the Chef’s menu was $150 without wine pairing. Overall an enjoyable experience! Will be back

I recently dined at August and it was a truly exceptional experience. The food was nothing short of amazing—each dish was a burst of flavor, though the portions were on the smaller side. This, however, didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment. The atmosphere is perfect for a date or any special occasion, offering a touch of old-school glamour that makes the evening feel extra special. The craft cocktails were particularly impressive, skillfully made and adding to the enchanting vibe of the place. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience with exquisite food and a romantic, elegant setting, this restaurant is a must-visit.

Disappointed with bread and no salad options. Disliked triple tail and red snapper. Slow bar service. One bartender for whole restaurant is insufficient.

We started our summer visit to New Orleans with a meal at this restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in. The staff was very welcoming and particularly attentive to our dietary restrictions for spiritual reasons, making sure that everything we ordered was prepared according to our needs. This attention to detail was a standout, unlike any other place we visited during our stay. What made the service even more unique was the specialization of the staff, for instance they had a specific waiter just for desserts. The food was exceptional every appetizer, main course and dessert was delicious. Although it was the most expensive restaurant we dined at in New Orleans, the overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable and very accommodating. Highly recommend for a great dining experience!

Photos didn’t happen due to the exquisite experience of dining at Restaurant August. Pulling out a phone seemed crass. Each of us enjoyed two appetizers, getting to taste the other’s choices. We delighted in the bluefin tuna with passion fruit granita, venison tartare, black & blue gnocchi, and pecan smoked Iberian pork. Wine selections were spectacular. The hummingbird cake rounded out the meal splendidly. Thanks to our server, Felicia and right-hand man, Gabriel, we were well cared for.

Came here for my mom’s birthday. Right when we walked in the staff were very welcoming and cordial! They were able to any questions we had about the menu. August has an assortment of cold and hot appetizer, entrees, and desserts! There’s also a tasting menu but we didn’t do that. The rock shrimp cold appetizer was one of our favorites! The aged duck breast and steak were delicious! Must try! Would come back :)

We had the tasting menu with my order “paired”. The service was outstanding with only a small hiccup quickly addressed. The courses came at a nice pace, which we were reminded could be adjusted at our request. Nice combination of flavors and incredible presentation. My wine pairings did exactly what they were supposed to: make everything even better. It was my birthday, and the staff went out of their way to be particularly generous in welcoming us to celebrate with them. Easily one of the best restaurant I have eaten in and a Michelin Star contender if in another state.

I read another users review that she felt the service was rushed. I can perhaps see how she felt that. The wait staff is plentiful and very attentive, perhaps coming by a couple times too many, but to me that in no way detracts from the 5 stars for the wonderful, cheerful service we received. The food gets another 5 stars. We had the duck and the fish. Both were prepared and seasoned to perfection with the chefs unique interpretation of these dishes. I was torn on how to rate it on overall value. It’s a bit expensive, but I suppose not too far out of line for that level of fine dining, so I gave it 5 stars there too. We will definitely be back!

The menu is very limited and truly nothing special. The portions are tiny and expensive. Restaurant Revolution blows this place away. I’ll never come back nor ever recommend this place. They need to completely overhaul the menu.

If Michelin stars were awarded in New Orleans, Restaurant August would be an uncontested recipient.

The food was phenomenal and the staff were attentive and friendly. The snapper almondine, truffle mousse, and gnocchi were to die for ❤️ Our only issue was feeling rushed. Before we even received our cocktails the server said “no rush but the chef recommends getting your order in…” The restaurant had several open tables and it was before 7pm so I’m not sure the reason. The 4 courses came out rapidly and we were out the door in an hour. The couples around us turned over quickly as well. When you’re spending $300+ for a birthday dinner, it seems reasonable to take your time, have some wine, etc. My daughter put it like this: “I’ve gotten slower service at Chipotle.”

Whether looking for a special evening or celebrating the week, August is a next level dining experience. Amazing service from Jordan and Annabel. Chef Corey presented beautiful plates with flavors that burst to be both complex and clean. Well done team!

We came (party of 2) for the South of France Tasting Menu on my birthday. Lee and Gabriel were our serving team. We had a truly exceptional experience, they took great care of us! I am vegetarian and my wife is not, and our service was completely seamless. The timing of our courses was perfect, we never felt rushed and we never waited for anything, and we never had to ask for anything. It was a beautiful evening. Thank you August, and thank you Lee and Gabriel for providing such a wonderful experience!

We celebrated a very special 80th birthday there on the 28th of June. The beauty of this restaurant is beyond expectations. The work staff, the food and the management has to be the best we have ever experienced anywhere, from Europe, the far east to New Orleans. We have no words to describe the excellence of the food from the presentation to the taste. It was truly an EXPERIENCE not just a meal. An outstanding experience and an even better meal. We had the tasting menu and enjoyed all the unique, delicious food in its beautiful presentations. Felicia and Annmarie were great wait staff, we had a wonderful evening!

We have eaten at August before and loved it. This is our first visit since 2021, which we have fond memories of. This time around, not so much. The service and staff are great. The building and ambiance are beautiful. The winelist has hidden gems and known brands with a nice representation of new and old world wines. The food? There is too much going on, too many competing flavors, too many noncomplimentary flavors, and, well, a lack of simplicity. The food tried to hard to be interesting, cutting-edge, and complex. The Manhatten Steak's beef, topping, and side flavors worked against each other. The Duck Breast was good but tough. The chef did make us a simple side salad, which was wonderful in its simplicity. The Fava Bean pasta appetizer was also good and enjoyable. Our service was great. The wine was a nice selection. The mood of the dining room is wonderful. The food was trying too hard.

This is a French restaurant and stands out from the typical fares of New Orleans. Portions were appropriate, unique, and delicious. I will be back.

Beautiful restaurant. Great service. We started with the gnocchi. Tasty. Shared the Snapper Pontchartrain and the Beef entree. Both okay. I wasn't looking for the Ryan’s buffet with heaping helpings, but expected a little more volume than what August brought to the table. Gnocchi was 4 small bites in a huge bowl that accentuated the Lilliputian serving. Snapper portion equally small. I looked everywhere but I just couldn’t find $48 of fish on the plate. $52 steak entree had 4 cut strip slices that could not been more than 4 oz of beef. Quality of food was decent but not good enough to justify pricing . Disappointing. We left there hungry and found a McDonald’s close by our condo after spending a couple Benjamins at Restaurant August.

We celebrated our anniversary here just yesterday and the staff took amazing care of us. Jordan took excellent care of us, made really wonderful suggestions and made our evening very memorable. The whole team was wonderful and the food and drink were a real treat. Don’t miss the Duck with Foie Gras mousse –It was a show stopper.

The service was excellent. Food selection was also great - just a little disappointed with the side for the duck breast because the foie gras mousse was a little overpowering if you combined with duck breast. All other plates were delicious and drinks were also good. Also, baguette bread option was a bit hard and chewy, but corn bread was so good! The tuna starter was very flavorful and the cheesecake dessert was delicious!

We received two separate recommendations from people living in New Orleans that said we needed to try August. It did not disappoint. We also happen to be there for restaurant week, so of course, we tried the restaurant week menu. Everything was amazing. Very creative presentation, delicious food, and amazing flavor combinations From the compressed cantaloupe wrapped in serrano ham to the stripped sea bass, everything was amazing. The atmosphere is classy and perfect for a date night. The staff is very courtesy and informative. If you're visiting, this is a place you should stop if you want a classy dining experience just outside the French Quarter

The nola bbq escargot was possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life…. and Im not really into snails… but wow. The service was absolutely perfect from top to bottom. Was slightly underwhelmed by the striped bass entree. It was fabulous… but nothing like the appetizer. I highly recommend anyone that considers themselves a foodie to eat here because it was definitely something to remember.

Restaurant August blew us away! We loved every bit of the experience we had there. We went to celebrate our anniversary and left feeling so celebrated and completely satisfied with our dining experience. The FOH staff was so attentive and kind, while BOH created and executed the most beautiful and most delicious dishes! This was one of our favorite meals of all time. The space is beautiful and the drinks were divine. This place ticked all the boxes! Thank you all for our truly incredible experience. We return to New Orleans every year for our anniversary and we’ll surely return to Restaurant August next year for our trip.

Our server who took our order was engaged and very courteous. All servers were very knowledgeable about our choices. The mixed drinks were great. The appetizer was superb. Our entrees were very appealing and tasty. Great experience overall.

I came to New Orleans this past December for two reasons, to see how the city celebrates the holidays, and to celebrate a birthday. For her birthday dinner, I chose August to go to. I'm glad I did. This place was upscale from head to toe. If the Michelin guide was in town, this place would at least get recommended. Starting with how beautiful the place is. This corner space in a large building had the internal décor of a fancy house. Complete with a giant staircase in the middle of the dining room, leading up to a mystery second floor. Elegant chandeliers and servers that re-folded your napkins for you when you used the restroom were the cherry on top of this very nice experience. So we looked at their tasting menu they offer, but two things held us back. Number one being that the tasting menu is fixed, doesn't offer either-or options, so we'd be both eating the exact same meal, no opportunity to share. Also, they were serving turtle soup at the time. I don't have anything against the very traditional dish. It's just not for us. So we went ala carte! I don't want this to get too wordy, so let's get through the entrée highlights. I had the (red snapper Pontchartrain) shrimp, lump crabmeat, wild mushrooms, sauce béarnaise. I also got to try the (dry-aged duck breast) morel mushrooms, blackberries, foie mousse. The duck was So good. Huge cuts of duck presented to you cooked side up, so the cook Has to be good on it, no excuses. And the cook was perfect. Lushous, tender duck, perfectly cooked mushrooms, and a nice, deep blackberry sauce really made this dish one of the better duck dishes I've had. Impressive. But my dish, the snapper, was king. I had many fish fished out of Lake Pontchartrain on this trip, but this night have been the best. Flakey, delicate, and topped with three of the plumpest shrimp you might ever see in your life. Mix in it with the sauce, and this dish will stick in my mind for a while. We had a couple of desserts that don't seem to be offered right now, but that's ok. I like seasonality of menus. But the desserts were good, also elegant, fun. I had a freaking pavlova. What is this, the British Baking Show? It was so good. Get the desserts here. Get two. Overall, this was the perfect birthday restaurant. Keep in mind, you'll be surrounded by people in like, blazers and stuff, but don't be intimidated. The wait staff is pretty chill, and so was the food. Come here.

Wonderful and elegant, but not stuffy. Stunning hard wood floors. Service excellent. Food very good but what I had Wagyu strip) was not quite up to the great decor and ambiance. Menu entree choices a bit limited. But for a classy dinner away from the tee shirt and sneaker crowd. This is the place!
