I had the carbonara, delicious 🤤 and my partner had the risotto, fresh and so tasty. Our server was amazing and sweet. The atmosphere was romantic, the drinks were delicious the tiramisu was divine and the espresso on point. Highly recommend.

The food was so amazing but the service was even better! We had Alex as our waiter and he went above and beyond. Explained the menu to us and gave a great recommendation (spinach ravioli) which was AWESOME.

Luanna was an angel!! We had the best time tonight for a girls night and felt like we were treated so well. It was some of the best service I have gotten at a restaurant. She was so attentive and sweet to us and gave us the best recommendations that really surpassed our expectations. Thank you Luanna for being so great to our table!!

Our waitress, Belle, was phenomenal. She knew the menu like the back of her hand, she provided excellent suggestions, and her upbeat personality could not be matched!! The food speaks for itself! We had the gnocchi and risotto (both with scallops) and the dishes were perfection with every bite. Do yourself a favor and grab one of Mulino’s signature cocktails. You will not be disappointed!!!!

My Fiance and I came here today for dinner we were asked if we had a reservation and we said "No," then the waitress told us to have a seat it would be just a few minutes. Next thing I noticed was everyone else being seated the guest that arrived with us and after. My fiance goes and gets the manager and we explain our experience being new customers to the restaurant he just stood there with a blank face with no remorse for the situation. Not to mention the waitress walked up to me asking me could she help me and that she didn't recall us checking in to be seated. I don't know if it was because we are a biracial couple or if it was because I'm Black, but we were definitely being racial profiled. My biggest concern and the reasoning for the review is how the Manger chose to handle situation and because of that we didn't eat there and will never eat there. He didn't apologize for our wasted time, our experience, or even get with his staff to see how problem was caused or even check in with them at all. I wouldn't give their restaurant even 1 star for service, but in order to do review that's least you can do.

Disappointed- Great atmosphere- unfortunately service and food wasn’t up to same level. Didn’t have pastas on menu (pici). Evidently don’t make anymore. Also had large party celebrating birthday and they didn’t do anything for birthday girl ( even following very large bill for party). There are other local Italian options I’d recommend over Mulino.

Mulino, aka "Melrose Knitting Mill" is housed in a renovated 19th-century building that was originally used as a knitting mill which specialized in underpants and bathing suits. The building retains much of its historical character, with exposed brick walls, large windows, and wooden beams. It truly is a beautifully renovated venue. Fortunately, the underpants and bathing suits have long been replaced by an endless resource of stunning Italian cuisine, where red vino and red sauce pleasantly litter the menu and one of the finest entrees on it is their house made lasagna. Its rich in flavor and layered with thin noodles to ensure your palate captures the flavors of all of the fresh ingredients. As far as I am concerned, the best seats in the house are on the outdoor patio next to the large fountain, on a good weather day of course. No worries, if there is a good chance of rain, they have everything covered. I am a fan of authentically made cannoli, so end the night right with one of the freshly prepared cannoli's'. The subtle sweetness of the filling, the slight tang of the ricotta, and the delicate flavor of the crisp shell, all prepared in-house, YUM! Mulino will see us again, Cheers!

Great service and amazing food. Lasagna pizza and yoga could’ve been enough for two people, but overall timing experience was excellent. We definitely go back again.

The picci were drowning in sauce, not true Italian, not very good. And the Margherita pizza was not good either. Disappointing.

Food was good, scallops were perfect. Server was not good, not attentive. He stood around talking with other servers while we were trying to wave him down. Adding a 20% gratuity to the check automatically probably makes him this way. I honestly don't know if we'll be back.

We had high expectations for this since we heard great things about the restaurant and food. We came for a birthday celebration and while the atmosphere was lovely, the food was mediocre at best. There were six of us and we all got different things. The Picci was supposed to “spicy” and had no flavor at all and was just bland tomato sauce with nothing in the sauce. The carbonara had no flavor and the gnocchi was just ok. The Bolognese sauce was good, but not worth the trip. The bathrooms smelled. Disappointing birthday celebration. We won’t be back.

What a great spot for a date with my wife in downtown Raleigh. Awesome ambiance and menu options for authentic Italian. The pasta was amazing. We didn’t get pizza but there were several around us that did and it looked amazing. Bella was our waitress and she was fantastic! We were in town for orientation at NC State and realized our daughter and Bella had the same major. This restaurant is definitely going to be in our rotation for future Raleigh visits.

This restaurant has high ratings which is why chose it but we were extremely disappointed. They initially sat us at a table just inside and literally a few feet from the door which opened 4 times within 1 min. Moved us (without us asking) to a high top in the bar area. Our server, Kim, was lovely and very informative of the establishment and the menu. We ordered the carbonara that was cooked well but too salty and almost cold. The other dish was the risotto of the day described with locally grown corn cut off the Cobb and heirloom tomatoes. Again the cook on the risotto was great the tomatoes and corn were diced so fine and sparse I wouldn’t know it was there if she hadn’t told me. So disappointed couldn’t wait to get my check. Sorry to say we won’t be returning.

It was very hot and there was limited inside seating but the shift manager solved the problem by reconfiguring some seats. we were all greatly appreciative

It was delicious. Everyone was nice. Nothing stood out to be exceptional. I think bread should come with the meal like most Italian restaurants. The ambiance is amazing. It was kind of loud but not to the point you couldn’t hear the person at your table. I will return.

Better take Uber or walk if you live nearby. 74 spots described seem a lot but my wife had to wait for me for about 20 minutes to find parking even the “overflow” paid parking was full. Description in Open Table needs to be updated. But again, we will be back but without a car.

Went again... Brought a big family party to sit outside and eat. Great service and food selections. Very nice!! Roll up to parking and right into a nice outside restaurant section. Has an outside bar and tables and it's done up very nice with a pool in the center. Elegantly lit and styled for nighttime dining. We sat outside pool side (great weather thankfully). The Bar was overwhelmed and we really had to wait a long time for a drink. Out of a lot of wines etc.. one bartender serving the whole place and he was trying. (Packed for Tuesday night). By the time we got drinks our table was ready (took about 10 minutes..that's a long time for getting 2 drinks when you go there before the table is ready) Menu: decent size menu of authentic Italian dishses. Meals are good, fresh tasting, prepared well and stated as all ingredients imported from Italy which I was hoping for. It did lack some spice/flavoring I am used to from Italian meals. I eat a gluten free diet and when in Italy I can eat the pastas and pizzas etc...(not made like/with crap the US puts in the food). So....I ventured on with pasta and pizza. All worked out for me so..the ingredients (as for flour/wheat) were imported from Italy. ( I do that too for home cooking and it's fine ) I don't recommend gluten free needs/celiac to eat anything that potentially can be an issue for them however I and others I know can tolerate real Italian foods since the food is made so much differently than our typical US stuff. Our server Salvatore was awesome. What a great Paisan!! Ask for him if you go! He is good people for sure ...Turns out we have a lot in common, lol. Easy to get to and parking right in front Atmosphere is excellent Hostess very nice Food is good Service is good Bar needs helpers and updated drink list. People are excellent Great place for a nice night out, date night, friends/groups. Recommend for a unique experience. I do recommend to fix the bar issues but I do not know if someone maybe called out that night etc. Mangia and Enjoy!

Amazing overall, with a reservation seated on time, waitress Belle was so kind, knowledgeable and helpful with the entire menu and suggestions for cocktails. Ambience was top tier, if the weather wasn’t so humid & hot we would’ve sat outdoors, but next time we will.

Great summertime dinner. We were sat at the time of our reservation. We had a nice two person table by a fountain. The service was good, attentive but let us have our space. We shared the lasagna, which was a good portion for two. We also shared bread and a tiramisu. The tiramisu was good but not remarkable. We also had a couple of cocktails. All for $100.

If you like the southern heat, please book your dinner. Celebrating an 80th birthday, outside in 90+ heat, and without working ceiling fans was not a good occasion. The food was very salty, underwhelming and very non-Italian. Will give a second chance in winter when it’s enjoyable to be outside.

This restaurant presents as a fine dining experience, I think it depends on the server you get. Our server was terrible. I didn’t realize this until I heard servers talking to tables around us. They discussed the history of the building, and the menus items with their guests. Ours did not, we didn’t even know they had specials until we heard it from another server, by that time we had already ordered. My wife’s lasagna was hot on the outside but cold in the middle, we would have said something but our server never followed after the food arrived. It was crazy, after we asked for the check the sever offered fresh parmigiana and pepper, we were clearly done eating at that point. I can not recommend this place, but clearly people around us had very different experiences.

It was a really nice experience at Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar, we were greeted (had previously made a reservation) and seated immediately, server came up and took orders promptly and was attentive, I would recommend the restaurant on low seasons because it’s always packed but it’s an amazing experience.

In truly enjoyed myself at Mulino. Great waiter. The ambience, the food…. Lamb and half chicken superb!!

Bartender took care of our table as we were in a side room. Large party of 11. Was a master at making everyone comfortable and managing the timing of drinks, apps, dinner and dessert. Really made u feel like your business was appreciated. Will definable be back!

The carbonara was in a disappointingly thin sauce. The beet salad was mostly greens drowning in a dressing with no Gorgonzola and very few nuts etc. Scallop app is tiny (esp for $18). Just disappointed overall. The server (Stephanie) was sweet and very helpful and attentive.

Great place to eat outside! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Get the braised lamb shank if you are feeling fancy or order the pizza - either one is fantastic. Also, the octopus appetizer is excellent. One of my favorite places in Raleigh!

My first time here! I forgot my servers name but he is tall lol he was awesome! We sat outside and my son insisted on sitting by the water so we asked and he had no problem with switching us . He answered any questions we had about the menu and when I didn’t like my pasta , he offered different things to try. I didn’t like the food too much but I’ll be back because of the service !!!! Service is a 11/10 and the environment , ambience and aesthetic is 11/10!!!!!

The ambiance, food, timeliness off the food were excellent. From the beginning the waiter acted annoyed. I get that with three children we are not purchasing a lot of alcohol but he actually sighed multiple times taking our order. With a party of 7 the 20% tip was included, which he pointed out, so he just wanted us to finish up.

We love Mulino Restaurant but last night we had a bad experience with the service. We couldn’t enjoy our appetizers because never came, the food came cold, the wine came we were almost finished. We expressed our disappointment to the manager and he explained they were short of staff so we totally understood the situation but ant the end we were not able to enjoy our special night. Even though we love this place as we enjoyed there multiple nights and will keep going there we were really disappointed on how that was handled overall. Hopefully our feedback is taken in a constructive way !

Mulino's is always a great dinner to celebrate or enjoy fresh authentic Italian food

Atmosphere is a 10 out of 10. Food was a 6.5. Nothing really stood out as a MUST HAVE. Cocktails were the star of the show for us. We started with gnocchi, calamari, and arancini balls. Again, just average. Nothing ‘wow’ed us. For the entree we had lasagne, pear and prosciutto pizza (disappointing) and honestly can’t remember the third entree because it was unremarkable. It was a very enjoyable evening , but the food was average. It took about 13 minutes for our cocktails to arrive which is 8 minutes too long imo. The server never came back to explain, nor did he ask us how the food was after serving dinner. He forgot to take off a dessert we ordered, but had to cancel because the gelato was too runny. The waiter asked if we would like to keep it anyway, and we declined. I will likely come back for cocktails because the atmosphere is pretty cool, but I would not recommend it for dinner.

It’s a really cute spot. Highly recommend for date night. I do think carbonara it’s too watery. If reduce a little bit more the flavor will be better. The server is really nice to give us recommendations for our wine options.

Food does not have flavor it is very bland no seasoning. The waitress was not welcoming and very dismissive. The inside restaurant door continuously opened and slammed closed. Very annoying.

We sat outside next to pool and our server, Elizabeth was fantastic - knowledgeable about menu & great recommendations. Went during Christmas time and enjoyed the heated patio and the decor. We were so happy with our dinner!

The atmosphere and service were good. Unfortunately, we were very excited to try the restaurant and all 3 of my family members and I agreed the food was not good at all. The salmon was overcooked and the pasta dishes were poorly executed. The appetizers were ok but not amazing. My husband is Italian and we recently moved here. We have been trying to find a good Italian restaurant and this is definitely not it. We will not be returning.

Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the Polpo, which was the best part of the meal. I ordered the risotto special with mushrooms and scallops. It was awful. It tasted like they took Spaghetti-o sauce from the can and poured it over canned mushrooms and undercooked rice, then topped it with 4 pan seared scallops. I should have sent it back. I thought it was $24 lost. We got the bill and it was $38. I was upset with myself for not sending it back, but after seeing multiple people around pushing food around on their plates, I knew if I sent my food back there was nothing that looked good to replace it. My husband ordered lasagna per the servers recommendation, and it was nothing special. We went for the tiramisu (the photos online were a good sell) and it was fine. My husband got the creme brulee and it was good. Overall, everything was basic and taste was severely lacking. We sat outside which was really beautiful. Other than that, our experience was not great. For $125 before tip, our date night felt wasted at this restaurant. Would not recommend.

I recently visited the Mulino Italian Kitchen and Bar, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Let me break down the key aspects of my visit: 1. **Atmosphere:** The only redeeming quality of this establishment was its atmosphere. The ambiance was pleasant. However, as they say, looks can be deceiving. 2. **Service:** The service was abysmal. From the moment we stepped in, confusion reigned. No one greeted us or offered any assistance to find our way. The staff seemed more interested in staring at us than in providing any actual service. Our server, McKayla, was particularly disappointing. She rushed through the meal, attempting to clear our table prematurely and pushing us to finish quickly. As a former server myself, I know the importance of attentive and considerate service, and this fell far short. 3. **Food:** Now, let's talk about the food. We ordered two pasta dishes: spinach ravioli and carbonara. Unfortunately, both were lackluster. The sauce for both dishes was downright dreadful. The spinach ravioli had an overpowering earthy taste that reminded me of manure (not exactly what I look for in a meal!). The carbonara, supposedly an Italian classic, was far from authentic. It lacked the creamy richness and balance of flavors that make carbonara delightful. 4. **Timing:** Timing matters in any dining experience. Our bread appetizer arrived promptly, but before we could finish it, McKayla swooped in to clear the table. A couple of minutes later, the pasta dishes appeared. It felt rushed, as if they were eager to turn over the table. Not the leisurely dining experience one hopes for. 5. **Unasked Questions:** Our server never bothered to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything. When we declined a takeout box, she didn't ask additional questions. I know that attentive servers check in on their guests, especially when they leave a significant amount of uneaten food. 6. **Overall Impression:** I won't be returning to Mulino Italian Kitchen and Bar. The high number of 5-star reviews baffles me; perhaps my expectations, shaped by my time in NYC, were too lofty. Even with lowered expectations, this visit was a disappointment. While the atmosphere may have earned them a star, the lackluster food, poor service, and rushed experience left me with no desire to revisit. If you're seeking an authentic Italian dining experience, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Beautiful setting. I thought this was a rooftop restaurant but it’s not. Nonetheless the venue is very pretty. To me the menu is limited and I should have looked ahead but Ive seen all these videos and reviews so we went. We ended up ordering pizza because there was nothing else on the menu that I thought I would like. There is no fettuccine, or spaghetti, or chicken parmigiana. Service was fair and I felt snubbed at times. It’s not for me and doesn’t fir the Italian cuisine I would expect.

Our waiter, Alex, was amazing. He made good recommendations and was timely and warm. The food was excellent. They even had a nice wine list.

I ordered medium salmon and it was cooked beyond well. It was hard and dry. My parents ordered salmon, received the sides when everyone else’s meal arrived but the actual salmon arrived 25 minutes later. It’s very loud. No apology from manager.

First time here, for our 6 year anniversary and the experience overall was amazing. The sever Alex did an amazing job and treated my wife and myself with exceptional service.

The food was really an overpriced mixed bag here. We really liked the Lasagna, but the Carbonara was sadly tasteless and the pasta was mushy.

My goal here is to be as objective and honest as possible. First let me say that my wife and I are what people like to call "foodies". We have dined internationally (Amalfi, Rome, Barcelona, ect) and love to dine domestically as well when new opportunities present themselves. We have lived in NC for 6 years and have passed Mulion's multiple times & finally decided to give it a try. We had reservations for 5pm & were basically the only guests at that time. We got seated in the middle of the room rather than a quiet corner. Not a huge deal & we could have asked to have been reseated but we wanted to go with the flow. We started with their bread, which is Fantastic! My wife had the salmon, and I had the spinach ravoli. Both were tasty but neither dish hot, semi warm at best. Note the dining room was almost empty so not sure if the kitchen guessed on popular dishes & had them ready to go but they did not present as freshly made but rather warming in the kitchen. Also, the salmon was not cooked enough. Again, we could have sent it back but chose not to make a fuss. A door near us had staff emerging many times with kitchen trays and walking through the dining room. Not a great way to induce ambience. Also, the door to the patio area was used very often and shut in a fairly loud manner to create a negative experience. With the food just okay and having been served so quickly, our impression was not favorable. For us personally, in a place like Mulino, we are looking for a dining experience and expecting to spend 1.5 to 2 hours. With the ultra fast service, we could have been done in 35 to 40 mins. We had a hard time understanding why the food needed to come out so quickly with 99% of the establishment vacant. Service was Wonderful, Stephanie (if my recall is any good) was fantastic & we would take her as a Server any day, A+. Perhaps we caught the kitchen on a bad day, but we are not ones to return when the overall experience does not meet our expectations.
