Great coffee shop with fun and friendly staff. I really like the banana latte. I think their prices are a little steep but would recommend this place!

This place popped up in my coffee search for the area & it looked super cute so decided to try! Unique interior, as it’s eclectic and cozy, almost like it should be in NODA or Plaza instead, but I love the vibe! The baristas are super nice. I tried the banana bread latte and it was pretty good. I tried it iced, I think it may be better hot. And tried the cinnamon roll.

This is an amazing coffee shop, well deserving of their 5-star status. Every coffee I have had from Backyard Brew has made me feel amazing after, in a way that chain shops like Starbucks and Dunkin simply can't. The beans are roasted there, and the flavors and sweetness levels are seperate, meaning having a flavored coffee that isn't as sweet as somewhere like Starbucks is always on the table. The specialty coffees are also delicious and always unique. The staff is always kind and helpful, and there are some delightful inside and outside areas for doing work or catching up with a friend. It's a great and relaxed ambiance. One thing to note... you can't really get an (iced) coffee under about $6. Not necessarily the worst thing, as the coffee is WELL worth it, but just something to note. (And the coffee is still priced similarly to starbucks, so it is definitely worth it for the quality).

This coffee place is absolutely amazing - just what Dilworth needs! The coffee was amazing, and the service was phenomenal. I had never been here before, and the gentleman working the counter gave me an number of great options and recommendations. I had a Pistachio Baklava Latte and it was absolutely amazing. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. I had been looking for a coffee shop in Dilworth to work in ever since the People's Market moved, and this place has definitely been a welcome addition. Would 100% recommend and will be visiting frequently.

Been to a lot of coffee shops and this one may take the cake!!! Came with my family on vacation and the man at the window was the friendliest! He talked to us for 10-15 minutes and recommended the best drinks and food. We had a nitro coffee, vanilla latte, vanilla americano and pistachio latte to drink and the burrito and pistachio croissant to eat. Everything was spectacular- especially the croissant! 😋 shoutout to the cashier for giving us a free drink too because I wasn’t going to order something. Hope to be in charlotte again sometime to come back here!

Absolutely wonderful people and service. The coffee varieties and quality is the icing on the cake. If I don’t go there everyday I get depressed. You have to go and check it out!!!

Awesome family run place for coffee, pastries, and burritos (among other light brunch foods) on the weekends. We usually come here for breakfast at least once on the weekends. The most amazing friendly service! Love the unique coffee flavor options and the ability to specify how sweet you want anything. Dog and kid friendly too!

We have passed by here many times without stopping and always saw a gathering of people. I decided to stop by one afternoon on a less busy day with my two daughters and it was perfect! The iced latte was delicious and refreshing. The atmosphere was friendly for my toddler and I could nurse my baby comfortably. The man behind the register explained their philosophy on natural ingredients and proceeded to give us two stickers, friendly conversation, and some lemonade on a hot day for my toddler. The inside is unpretentious and spacious for working. There are so many coffee shops around town but I don’t think I have been to a friendlier one. We will definitely be back to try the food and more drinks!

I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun placing a coffee order. The service was engaging from the moment I stepped on the porch. They helped me find a coffee order that was perfect for my taste and preferences plus the consideration of the 90+ degree weather. I got the iced Alaweena (with double the coffee to milk) which was the perfect balance for me because I prefer small batch roasted black coffee. I took my coffee and went across the street to stitch at Charlotte Yarn. I had so much fun and such a great experience I went back to try the tea before I went home. I had the Ginger Peach tea with half sweetness and again, it was perfect for me. The effort they put into helping you find something you like is amazing. I’m sad I live in Kansas and can’t visit more often but I will definitely visit every chance I get!

Ryan is deserving of the name “The Flavor Tailor” he is spectacular at making unique flavorful dishes. He’s also incredibly hospitable, I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

THE best coffee shop in Charlotte! The beans are organic and small batch custom roasted. The syrups are all natural. Everything is delicious and can be customized in any way. This is a family owned business and the service and atmosphere is incredible. The Orange Crush latte is my current favorite, it tastes just like one of those holiday chocolate oranges. They're always testing out and coming out with new drinks. The food is really good too and the portions are generous.

Incredibly friendly staff and focused on high level service. Breakfast burritos are phenomenal! The owner took time to chat with us and tell us their story and future plans for the business, even gave me a free latte! A+ Excellence services this morning as we approach the ordering window at Backyard Brew. We were greeted with an extra Saturday vibe morning to welcome us into Sunday. To keep the customer energy going into the day before workweek. Love it! We explained that this was our first time here and gave us a detailed rundown of the place. Then he placed two little ducks in front of us as we looked over the menu. Cool, right! We both ordered the Golden Latte one hot and one cold. It definitely had a great fresh coffee herbal blend taste. Now, them Jordanian Cakes were a light fluffy rose sweet taste with a hint of cardamom and flakes of pistachio. Which made each bite rewarding. There were plenty of alphabetical parking spaces in the back. They even have a place to take a cool selfie spot near the parking. Nice for any type of outing.

Literally the most friendly staff I think I have ever encountered in my life. The coffee and cheesecake (safe for Celiac!!!) were delicious and I can't wait to go back. Definitely a hidden gem. These are people who are in the business of making people feel good. Highly recommend.

It’s a true honor to write this review. I first learned about backyard brew by attending a Thursday morning run club. This coffee shop has become a Thursday AND weekend staple! What makes this place special is the ingredients they use to create their speciality coffees. No syrups. No junk. They make everything in house and can customize sweetness and flavor profiles to your liking. Tried the breakfast burrito and was not disappointed. I recommend the Banana bread latte to accompany it! This is a locally owned establishment that I’ll continue to support. There’s parking located behind the house and ample seating inside and outside. You’ll leave here wanting to come back!

Seriously the best coffee I’ve ever had, I can’t go to other coffee shops now 😂 the staff is so welcoming and they are always so happy and make my day. The most incredible coffee/tea shop that I have experienced (as it definitely is an experience) in years. The Banana Bread Latte is enough to distract you from the rest of the world. Also, you deserve the Pistachio Croissant in your life! You will need to ask for two of them because (1) You will not want to share yours and/or (2) the memory of it will make you leave everything that you are doing just to go get another one (all while asking yourself, why you didn't purchase two earlier that morning)! To compliment the outrageously delicious menu items, is the spectacular service that is provided. The owners remember orders of regular guests and today, T.K. remembered my name, not because I told him, but because he listened to me and my colleague talking to one another as we waited for our order. Masterful!!!! Do you remember the theme song for Cheers???? He nailed it...T.K and Backyard Brews...I will see you regularly!

This place is more than just a caffeine pick-me-up. Its a mental pick-me-up. Only been one time, but I’m sold. Good service will do that, and this place is probably the friendliest, most genuine and engaging establishment in Charlotte. (Shoutout to TK!) Next time I’m going out for coffee, I’ll be going to backyard brew. Next time I’m having a bad day, I’ll be going to backyard brew.

Just got our second latte this week and we have made it our goal to try out every single flavor on their menu because they are THAT GOOD!!! It’s been a while since we went to a business that treated us like we mattered more than what we spent- they ensure we like our drinks every time and refuse to let us leave unless we’re fully satisfied with what we ordered (literally unheard of in this fast-moving society that treats you like a number). The owners have put so much soul in this little house and remember their customers, have intentional conversations with each one and the best part?! You get a lucky ducky for every visit!!! Truly the little things make this place worth the 5 stars they get. Our top favorite is the banana bread latte right now! Their chai mix is made in house from scratch and can’t wait to try it next

Backyard Brew has been added to my list of favorite coffee shops (and so glad it’s in my neighborhood!). On my first visit I tried the banana bread latte, which was delicious. So many offerings caught my eye, that I had to return the next day for an almond joy latte, which was incredibly yummy too! The owners are so friendly and take time to ask about your taste preferences to craft the perfect drink for you. The atmosphere is very inviting! A friend and I enjoyed coffee in one of the Adirondack chairs on the front lawn. There’s also a cozy front porch and indoor seating. Highly recommend and already looking forward to my next visit!

Backyard Brew is in a word: incredible. Regretfully, I drove past this cottage gem many times, hurrying here or there, since their opening. I WAS MISSING OUT. So glad I finally made a point to stop. This was my third visit in less than two weeks and each experience as well as orders have been nothing short of amazing. BB’s coffee and espresso are literally so so good — flavorfully robust yet smooth, not watery or weak, and well-balanced. Tastes “pure”. As one who loves coffee and prefers each served with intensity, BB’s more than surpasses my expectations. I also believe theirs would be agreeable to most palettes, even those preferring the lesser end of the coffee-forward spectrum. I applaud their many options and allowances for customizations. Their list of flavors, most if not all organic and natural extracts, make for some of the best iced lattes I’ve ever had. For example, banana extract and mint leaf additions, fresh grown on site. I want to first promote their coffee and menu as legit but haven’t even scratched the surface of why this ranks for me as one of the greatest, if not best, coffee houses in Charlotte. Besides their tasty offerings, Backyard Brew is family owned and operated by some of the most wonderful personalities and kind dispositions I’ve encountered. Their Jordanian heritage (some German, too, if not mistaken) brings an extra genuine warmth, knowledge, and hospitable flair to the already top notch service. Not only are they welcoming and inclusive of all, they literally go out of their way to acknowledge, inquire, and connect with each and every patron. Special shout outs to PK, Badar, and Hannah for your kindness, as well as the rest of the staff. Further, just when you think the delicious drinks, food, and hospitality are enough — BB outdoes themselves again by fostering a creative and encouraging environment. Adults and children alike are free to write, draw, and express on literally everything inside from the walls to the table tops. It is just stellar. In summary, I could praise on and on, but Backyard Brew is quite simply magnificent. This will be my new hub going forward and I’m excited for more amazing visits. Dropped by for the first time and was so impressed by the food and service!! Ryan and TK both greeted us and made us feel so welcomed. They offered us samples of the avocado toast on a sourdough English muffin which were was so good that my friend and I each ordered a serving. I also had a sample of their garden lemonade which was so reminiscent of lemonade I had when visiting Lebanon. Their Golden Latte was also amazing. Even though they were busy they took time to make us feel like part of the family. Definitely will be back!

Been stopping into Backyard Brew on the way to work about once a week since not long after they opened. Hands down the best place for flavored lattes, they also make a killer flat white. Excellent and fast service. My new go to spot for espresso. Always fresh highly recommended. Update a year later I had no idea they moved from pineville to their coffee shop in Dilworth. I was sad when I saw their previous location had shutdown but I’m glad they are doing well and growing. The atmosphere at the shop is very unique and inviting. The wall art and guest provided inspiration is a wonderful experience to a great product. our almond croissant and coffees where beyond expectations. I’m glad to see such a great group of people growing and improving their business. Everything is handmade. Highly recommended. Every coffee shop we go to will now be compared to this one. Got a pistachio latte and a pistachio croissant- the latte is a little bit too sweet for me, but the croissant is AMAZING with crushed pistachio on top and full of pistachio spread inside. As a pistachio lover, I’ve tried so many pistachio croissants, and the one here is definitely on my top list. Need to mention that the owners are super nice and charitable, will come back again.

YOU MUST GO HERE. Incredible experience at this coffee shop. I’d say we’re well versed in the coffee shops in the area and appreciate good quality coffee but this feels like a hidden gem and has the personality that some coffee shops lack because these owners clearly LOVE what they do and are so proud of what they offer. They care about your experience and go above and beyond in their service. They make everything from scratch in house using things like organic sugar and local honey etc. And they’re super flexible on accommodating your order, making it less sweet etc. And it’s not just the coffee that’s great, the food (had the burrito and banana bread) are truly delicious and not over priced like a lot of things in CLT. Absolutely coming back to experience more soon.

From the moment I walked up to the window, I felt like a very important customer! The owners are incredibly welcoming, warm & knowledgeable with everything coffee related. From the roasting process to sourcing their beans, you will find every type of flavor here. The customized blends of beans change every day and you can order any drink you like, just how you like it! The reviews speak for themselves and if you haven’t tried this place yet, it’s a must in Charlotte. The location is so cute - a literal house. First time here, amd thank goodness for delish coffee :) i got the banana bread latte (it really does taste like banana bread and there is an aftertaste almost as if you did eat it) very delicious. I also got the cinnamon roll, the first bite was so good, soft. It wasn’t warm but I’m sure they can warm it up for you if you’d like. The best part of it all is that the sweetness wasn’t overpowering, for both items. Support local!!!

Just had my first experience at Backyard Brew! Absolutely love this place - the customer service is incredible, nicest people ever, super helpful and genuine. They want you to have the best coffee experience and I did! I ended up getting an iced peach black tea for myself and a latte for my boyfriend and both were so so good! They gave me a dessert to try as well and it was incredible- a cheesecake soon to be on the menu and when it is I will get it again :) will be back for sure! Probably tomorrow 😂

I had a wonderful time chatting with TK. He and the other employees were very informative in regards to the coffees and were so welcoming. I tried the Turkish coffee which was very tasty and the Jordian pancakes were to die for!

From the second we saw the building I knew this place would be 10/10. The vibe is immaculate, both gentlemen that were working were so kind and helpful. The shop itself is super cozy and fun (plus they’re pet friendly, love to see it). The coffee speaks for itself, the flavors are truly unique and divine. We got the pistachio baklava latte and banana bread latte - both were made to perfection!! We also got the pistachio croissant, I think it was the best croissant I’ve had in my life? And I’m not even being dramatic. Please come here, you won’t regret it.

I've been to backyard brew twice now and both times, it has far exceeded my expectations. Their lattes are absolutely amazing - I’ve tried the gingerbread and banana bread! I love how their focus is on flavor enhancement for the coffee, rather than being as sweet as possible. Additionally, their lentil soup is delicious. Great decaf latte, super kind owners/employees, and awesome front porch seating. There’s a bit of seating inside + a bathroom as well. The owner brought fresh pancakes out to my husband and me, on the house, while we played a card game - so surprising and fun!

We travel around Charlotte trying different coffee shops and put this on our list based on the reviews. It was well worth the 40 minute drive for us to try out the coffee! There was a steady stream of customers when we went. The coffee was fantastic and the converted house was super cool with a really nice covered porch where you can sit and enjoy your coffee. The service was great! We will definitely be back even though it is quite far for us. That will tell you how good it is!

My new favorite coffee place. The owners (forgot to ask their names) are very welcoming and that’s what stood out for us. We had their Signature drinks - Desert Rose and Raw Mocha. We asked for the flavors to be mild and that’s exactly what we got. With each drink we were given a small cup to try the flavor without the espresso which is something I have never experienced. Backyard brew is a hidden gem. We will be visiting again to try out other drinks.

The founder, Ryan, and I chatted for 15+ minutes before I connected the dots of his role to the shop. With each introduction to the team members, the crew’s identity was clear - down to earth, generous, and passionate. If you can, stop by and say hi and ask about the business model. The shop’s investment in the Charlotte community is distinct but especially laudable. The drinks are authentic, and the high-quality ingredients are noticeable. I am not one to review, and I wish I were sponsored for this post! But no, this shop is simply a great addition to the Charlotte scene brought by solid people with good intentions, a good vision, and good talents.

Amazing coffee and Jordanian pancakes! On the first trip here I had a desert rose latte. Second trip had the iced eggnog latte. Also had an almond croissant sample they gave. Customer service is awesome, and they take the time to figure out what you like and how to make it just right.Will definitely be back soon!

Such amazing coffee, and TK was so knowledgeable and friendly. We got a hot latte as well as TK’s Chocolate Orange Crush (after trying a sample and being absolutely OBSESSED), both were phenomenal. The cinnamon bun (heated up of course) and the lentil soup were perfect on a chilly morning. We’re so excited to go back already.
