Hands down best resturant in gaylord. Yes it's pricey, but the product you get out weighs the price.

Went in for dessert and cocktails, atmosphere was dark with a old time pub feel which I absolutely love, super friendly and professional staff. Dessert and drinks were very delicious. Before paying the check we looked at the dinner menu and can't wait to make another trip down from Indian River to try some entrees!!

Took the wife out to eat. The staff are super friendly, and we got there at the right time as we were seated promptly. Food was prepared and dished timeley. I personally thought the menu was lacking a little as we have had numerous friends tell us about certain dishes that weren't to be found at the time of our experience. Also, the prices are a little on the steep side.

Food was amazing and Savannah, our waitress, was top level!! She did a fabulous job. We didn’t wait long or want for anything.

The service, food, and atmosphere are all 10/10. I get to visit this restaurant once a year and it’s always a highlight of my trip to the Gaylord area. Bennethum’s is not just a great restaurant it could be the best up north restaurant in the state.

Cannot go wrong at this beautiful place! Great service. Food. Venue. I look forward to the outside area being open as season progresses! A downright magical setting.

Another fantastic meal! Started with the calamari, had a nice garden salad then for our entrees my wife had the grouper tacos and I had the havarti scallops! What a wonderful evening here yet again!

We eat at BNI fairly often and every visit is truly outstanding. The food is diverse, creative and just amazing. The cocktails are great. The wine list is huge! And the service is always incredible. Every meal here is memorable.

This place is definitely a gem. You need to go during Happy Hour ( 4 - 6). The food is wonderfully tasty. The service is quick and friendly (Thank you, Paige). Half off ALL drinks. It's worth the price you pay

Would highly recommend. Exceptional food and service in a warm, welcoming environment. Hit up happy hour first (4pm - 6pm) for appetizer specials and half off drinks. Then stay for dinner. Their French Onion Soup is amazing! The side salads were plenty big! Everything we ordered was cooked and seasoned to perfection!! The Gulf Shrimp Scampi with Parmesan Risotto & Sauteed Spinach was heavenly. Portion sizes are plentiful but save room for dessert. My recommendation - Lemon Pistachio Tiramisu (our party of 4 shared it). Three out of four of us needed to go boxes. Will definitely be repeat customers.

We just experienced our new fav restaurant up north. Bennethum’s has it in spades. Classy, casual dining Welcoming rustic decor, tasteful done. Top notch serve Excellent menu Absolutely delicious food Mushroom soup in a bowl big enough for two grown folks. Ribs on point - Salmon tender and delicious. The best asparagus I have ever had. Of course we gonna try the desserts . . . . Yep that Oreo Peanut Butter pie melts in your mouth. Highly recommend Bennethum’s Northern Inn

I will put this restaurant up against any other in northern Michigan. It is fairly expensive but you get what you pay for.

The food was fine, but it did not live up to the price. $36 for chicken pasta and that doesn’t include any sides or a salad. The portion size was average for a dinner. Also drinks were pretty pricy. 2 house Vodka Clubs and a chicken pasta came to $64 then add the tip. The exterior does not give off a fancy sit down client meeting or Anniversary Dinner vibe. That being said I could see this would be good for those occasions.

SO YUMMYYY. The happy hour deals are great and the food is phenomenal. The prime rib is some of the best steak I’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was impressive. I absolutely recommend Bennethum’s. It’s like disney world for my taste buds.

We went there for our 22nd anniversary. The staff was outstanding, the food was delicious, and we really loved the hand written anniversary card at our table from the staff.

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. Their Prime Ribeye steak was tremendous. My wife's filled was cooked to perfection.

Favorite date night restaurant up north.

I had heard great things about this place and happened to be driving by one evening, so I stopped in. I ordered the Morel pasta and a glass of red wine. The pasta sauce was so thick; unfortunately you could not taste the morels. As I was finishing up I found a piece of plastic in my food. I let staff know and they said it was onion. I do a lot of dining out and know 💯 that was not an onion. I’d put this rating into the negatives. What a disappointment. And a loss of $60 no less. I wish I could say my experience was amazing but there are better restaurants in the area that are much better all around.

The property is very nice and well-kept, and the service was absolutely outstanding. However, the food quality was not up to the menu pricing at all. To be clear, the kitchen did a great job. But most of the menu items I experienced were lower quality than advertised. The $65 prime ribeye was definitely, definitely not prime. Not even close. The short ribs were not short ribs - they were beef roast. A tasty roast beef, sure, but not what's on the menu and not priced like roast beef. The apps were tasty and well-prepared, and the sides were decent, but they were all Sysco-type pre-preps. Again, it wasn't bad food, and like I said the service was notably impressive, but an expected $80-$100 per plate needs to deliver higher quality and certainly needs to be honest about it.

We came back while vacationing in Gaylord! Fresh and delicious!

My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary with an amazing dinner. It was well worth the 6 1/2 hour drive. The service was top notch. The owners took time to talk to us and congratulate us. We are looking forward to visiting again next year. Thanks so much for a wonderful evening.

I usually like Bennethum's, but this time we were sat in the bar area at a high-top. It was beginning to get busy. There were two different tables nearby us that sat at least 10 or more. Eventually the noise got so bad we couldn't hear each other. I'll never sit on that side again. If you want to have a conversation, stay out of the bar.

We eat here when we are tired from our business. This place is one of the best in town and it's a victory meal for us

Went for happy hour appetizers. Shared numerous items with four of us, and all were great. Drinks were also good. Our server Paige was attentive, friendly, and overall awesome.

I can’t say enough about this restaurant. Every time we are in the area we stop in and have such a lovely meal and cocktails. Liz, Sloan and Paige are the best. We are always greeted by our first names at the door and it’s so welcoming. My husband and daughter can’t wait to come back. It’s the best.

The entire experience here is a pleasure from start to finish. From the atmosphere to the menu, service... everything is great from the start. Then comes the food and drink, all beautifully displayed and absolutely phenomenal flavors. It will be an expensive night if you enjoy to the fullest, but this is the best restaurant in most of Northern Michigan.

It was a great experience overall. The food was exceptional! The environment was somewhat dark.

We went for our 25th anniversary tonight and it was wonderful! It is our tradition to eat out every year at somewhere special. We decided during the appetizer that it would continue to be here. And we have a 90 min drive each way, but it was worth it! Great staff, great atmosphere and great food!

It was a very nice place . Bring at least $150.00 for 2 with food and drinks . Salad and soup does not come with the your meal you have to pay EXTRA . My cousins veal was grisly and it was $65.00

We come here every time we go up to the NW part of the state. Amazing! Be sure to try their whitefish dip appetizer, the wild mushroom soup, and the parmesan-crusted walleye entree.

Not trying to be dramatic but I’m a foodie and this is TOP 3 places I’ve ever ate!! Service AMAZING, food EVEN BETTER, atmosphere FANTASTIC, overall NO COMPLAINTS. If you’re thinking about eating here stop thinking and go. We’ll be back, it’s a new favorite. We spent $160 not including the tip and received 2 appetizers, a bowl of soup, 2 meals with upgraded sides, 2 desserts and a drink! Worth every penny!

Always excellent! We enjoy the bar tenders and servers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The ever changing menu and specials always keep us intrigued.

All of the food that we ordered was excellent. Our server, Monica, was stellar. She gave us just the right amount of attention and was able to answer all of our inquiries like a pro. My son LOVED the kids portion of Filet Mignon...he said it was better than some of the top Chicago restaurants that we've been to. Thank you!

I was absolutely blown away by Bennethum's. We started off with some great cocktails (the Midnight Manhattan is fantastic) and meatballs (a special of the evening)that were all perfect. My entrée was the Tomahawk Pork Chop. The BNI Zip Sauce was a wonderful addition to a perfecly cook porkchop, and the crispy french-fried leeks were the perfect combination of crunch and salt to compliment the dish. I can't recommend the food here enough as all 4 of us devoured our food and had a few more happy hour drinks!

Celebrated our 10 year anniversary and had a few special requests. They went above and beyond to make the night special for my wife and I. Wonderful experience and great food. I was surprised there are menu items that allow you to have a Friday date night with a reasonable price and there's options for more special occasions when you're willing to spend a bit more. I'd say it's $$-$$$ based on what I've seen Google rank other restaurants. It's worth a stop for any occasion, whether it's a Friday dinner or an anniversary.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in northern Michigan. I've been here 4 times now and every time it's perfect. My wife and I both had steaks and crab and they were cooked perfectly as always!!! Service is always excellent. This is my favorite restaurant. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area a must try.

Outstanding meal! Topnotch service, amazing bread, a very tasty steak, and detectible creme brulee. The ambiance in the restaurant was great and they even had a guitar player playing soft music. I look forward to visiting again!

Absolutely the best place to eat up North. There may be a better restaurant out there but I haven't found it yet. It's pretty much as good as you can get without getting into the major cities and paying a major amount of money. The atmosphere is perfect, nice and intimate but plenty of happy people laughing and chatting in the background so you feel nice and private. Been coming here since I could drive and wouldn't go anywhere else for nice meals out of the house.

Great food, great service. Bennethum's Northern Inn always lives up to our expectations. If you like quality food and expect top notch service, they do it right every time.

2 full tables of kids sat right next to us by staff while their parents were in another room all at an "adult" table. Staff had to ask them to quiet down multiple times. I'm fine with bringing kids out - I have my own, but they should be required to be supervised. Really reduced what was otherwise a good experience.

My husband and l went for the first time to Bennethums for our Birthday celebration's. We were absolutely blowing away by the service and the food. They made our special day even more special with the atmosphere, food and service.

Amazing food and quality service

Literally one of the best restaurants in the area. At first I was put off by the prices of food. The food honestly was so good and just absolutely the finest quality ingredients that I was able to see why. Our server who sadly I didn't get the name of was soooooo on top of things that I never even had a chance to ask for a refill. The minute I finished my drink at set it down a refill was already on the table. Our server knew every part of the menu and gave legit guidance on things I would like. I absolutely love this place and am glad I went!!!

The mushroom bisque was phenomenal as were the venison meatballs and cocktails. I highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I will be eating here on our annual October visit to the Houghton Lake area!

Seven of my friends and I had dinner and drinks at Bennethum’s last night. Best Happy Hour around!! Cocktails and apps were great. Some of us had margaritas, martinis, wine. Lettuce wraps and buffalo cauliflower were great apps. Signature dishes were yummy and prices are super reasonable. The staff is amazing. Highly recommend on your next visit. It’s a definite must!
