Excellent Food, Excellent Customer service

This place is absolutely fantastic. The weekly hot meal menu is outstanding and the chicken salads are so so yummy. I’m so sad I loved out of Oviedo this past year. Gonna be driving a half out over here after work some days now.

I thought I didn't like chicken salad sandwiches, turns out I just don't like *bad* chicken salad. I've had multiple different types of the chicken salad at Bernie's and every one has been unique and delicious. The prices are good and there are tons of great options, and the customer service is excellent. Highly recommended.

I love this place! Quaint and friendly and most importantly the food is great. Egg salad sandwich on Marble Rye is my favorite along with their classic Cuban.

Great hidden gem. The potato salad was awesome. Also had the Cuban sandwich, which will say the best in the Oviedo area.

Great little restaurant/shop! Excellent chicken salads, many flavors, wonderful homemade deserts! Many different homemade meals to take and heat up at home. Highly recommend!!

My wife and I love the food at Bernie's. The new owners are the nicest people. When they have something on the menu they know we like they will call and check to see if we want anything before they sell out. The food is so flavorful and of course always so fresh. Monica and Claudio (owners) always have time to chat with their customers which is nice with today's busy world.

Tried for the first time yesterday. Food was great. Had the pastrami sandwich. Very good !! And took some things for dinner and they were great. Definitely will be back. The woman who took care of me was awesome !

Have been wanting to visit for a while, but it's far from where I live. Met a friend who works in the area and used that as an excuse. It's lovely, a welcoming deli with takeout or dine in for full meals, sandwiches and desserts. Their specialty, chicken salad, is unusual. A very fine texture since all the ingredients are ground. Fantastic assortment of flavors and all were good. Friendly service, and they offer samples. Wish I could have justified trying a dessert. They all looked tempting.

The chicken salads are awesome... but.... the dinners are out of this world. I just had two in the last two days and the food simply couldn’t be better. Servings are plentiful and heating up is a couple of minutes in the microwave. Highly highly recommended!!!! Three years later and the foid is still outstanding! Never, ever will put a dish in the microwave for 3 minutes and then eat a fabulous, gourmet dinner!!!!!

With my family we always buy dinners at Bernies, they are super delicious and very accessible. We have been customers of this place for years, and I have never had a bad experience. The attention is super friendly, always with a smile, and the food and prices are very good. You have many options to choose from and above all, the daily dinners are different every day. My company and I ordered food from Bernie’s yesterday. All five of us ate our lunch at 2 o’clock in the afternoon by 3 o’clock everybody at work stomach was not doing well. Obviously something in the food was not good they got all the employees stomach feeling sick throughout the whole entire day and night. After this experience I don’t think any of us will be going back to that restaurant to order food ever again. This is the second time I ate there and the first time I ate at Bernie’s , my stomach acting up as well. There’s something was wrong with the food. Can’t say it was one order because all five of us had different food and all five of us got sick. The food didn’t taste fresh at all. There are better deli’s in the area but I will not be going back to Bernies again. I gave them two chances and both times the food was horrible. If you want a good sandwich and good sides go to Cavallari Gourmet you will not me disappointed.

First time attending, and I couldn't have had better service. Both of the front end workers provided excellent service. The food was absolutely delicious aswell. Healthy foods and priced well!

Bernie's wow the senses upon first entering when you see all the delicious food they have available. The food is high quality, and the staff is very friendly. If you want high quality food, especially to take home and prepare a family feast, this is a great place to find it.

Revised review - new owners - went into for lunch, one other customer, three people behind counter - after 5 minutes of being looked through with no acknowledgement that I existed, left. Won't return. They claim there was a problem with register, that doesn't excused looking directly at me and looking through me - being treated as invisible guarantees a non return. Also "give each other another chance" - what chance do I have ot provide to them? I did nothing wrong and they are trying to make it as if I was at fault for being ignored.

I’ve been going to Bernies for years! I’ve never had bad food from here. Only Savory and delectable food. I’ve tried all of the sandwiches and all of the pre made dinners! Every one of them deserving of 4 or more stars! I’ve even ordered an entire lemon cello cake for my sons birthday from Then! Such a Tasty hit that was way better than buttercream Publix cake!! I can’t say enough good things about Bernies! High quality food with exceptional service always served with a smile! This is the best place to eat especially if you need to cut corners for dinner. The only thing I hate is not having two stomachs so I can eat more of their food!! Also I can’t figure out my favorite chicken salad. It might be the Garlic/olive or the Ranch/bacon one. You can’t go wrong!

Rude. Don't honor their own reward system. Raised prices and cut customer loyalty programs... and met with such a lovely attitude when asked about it. I'll go to Pickles or TooJays, customers don't need to put up with this. Not a way to run a business. Cya Bernie.

I am always so pleased with the unique and always delicious food served here! The picture I posted is of a gluten free creamy Italian something or other that’s lite and just the right amount of sweetness. I also enjoyed the black rice with veggies and a jicama salad. Thank you for my fabulous lunch today, you guys are the best!

My mom and I found Bernie’s a few years ago. We make somewhat frequent trips to the Oviedo area to visit Sprouts. We go to Bernie’s every time now when we go to Sprouts. We always get a bunch of things to take home with us since we don’t live in the area. Their Grandma’s chicken salad is so simple yet so delicious. Same goes for their cranberry apple chicken salad. What we love the most though is their sweet potato salad. It’s incredibly addicting. We get their macaroni salad and tortellini salad too. They’re both very good. The first thing we noticed the first time we walked in was all the chocolate desserts. We got the dark chocolate earthquake and been getting it ever since. If you’re a chocoholic, you will love it. It’s rich, moist, and decadent. Every time we visit Bernie’s, it’s a smooth and easy experience. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in that area!

Clean, very friendly, knowledgeable staff offering but not over offering suggestions. Definitely a once a week spot! Great if you don't want to cook dinner!!

Long time local favorite. Quality Deli

Working in a busy veterinary hospital, Bernie's has been our go-to for lunch (& dinner) for many years. When we had a minor problem with our order, Bernie himself delivered! Food is always delicious and we are grateful for everything they do.

Service good, staff friendly, salad was fresh, Philly cheese sandwich is good, but wedding soup was good but not outstanding.

Bernie's did an outstanding job with catering for my godson's graduation party. The food (sandwiches and salads) were ready on time for pick up, order had everything specified and it was delicious for the afternoon luncheon. THANK YOU Bernie to you and your staff - you've been a gem of a longstanding Oviedo restaurant and no wonder why!

Had stuffed cabbage and pastafasoul soup. Both were BLAND wth little or no spice. It is not clear to me how the place got such a high rating. Two Jays is much better and we are from NY? .

I used to deliver for doordash. When delivering for this place, the owner just started insulting me for working at a company like doordash and said he “doesn’t believe in a company like doordash”, continuing to lecture me about how bad they are. If he hated it so much why does he employ doordash to deliver his food? Very hypocritical. I didn’t really want to be working for them, but needed the money at the time. That’s the short version. Very uncomfortable experience, no reason for the demeaning. EDIT: If it was not you, the owner, speaking to me like this, then it was one of your employees who identified themselves as the owner. I shouldn’t be insulted just for delivering for your restaurant, so I will leave my rating at 1 star. People can take what they want from it, I just personally did not feel comfortable there. You also claim to not have doordash as a third party, well you absolutely did a few months ago. So I’m not sure if your just ignorant of what your business is doing, or if you are just straight up lying. Your business will keep doing fine so I’m not sure why my 1 star review triggered you so much. Have a great day and please treat people with kindness.

My favorite place to grab a nice dinner or a chicken salad sandwich. The place is spotless, the customer service excellent, and the food is always delicious. I really like the cranberry chicken salad and their chicken pot pie! The carrot cake is also to die for.

The quiche is amazing and they offer many selections of chicken salad. We tried the Buffalo chicken salad and the selection with Cranberry, which is our favorite. I feel the prices are appropriate given the high quality of the food. Everything we have tried from Bernie's is very yummy!

Been going here for lunch for 4 years and have never been disappointed, the restaurant is a staple of Oviedo so much so that people driving down from Maryland detour to pick up some chicken salad and sides. The sandwich's and food made by the dynamic duo owners really show case how good ingredients and time make some of the most savory meals.

Stopped by Bernies for lunch yesterday What a great surprise (first time) i had a Reuben, my son had a Dagwood and my wife had a wrap. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. I picked up a stuffed cabbage on the way out the door. WOW it was probably the best iI've had since my grandmother's..... Great job! I will be back after the holiday....

The best Chicken Salad in the World!! Multiple choices of flavors. Amazing stuffed cabbage and twice baked potatoes with cheese and bacon. I go to this place 1-2 times a week.

Hands down one of the best places to go for fresh deli items/home made desserts. They have 5* for a reason! Super friendly. Customer service is great. They always make sure to acknowledge you when you walk in even if they are busy. The pulled pork sandwich on Cibatta is absolutely delicious. They have the best pastrami Reuben in town and don’t get me started on the 10+ chicken salad options 🤩! My favorite side item is their Jimimica salad both the beets or peppers. If you haven’t tried this place, do yourself a favor and stop by for a bite 🤤

Bernie's is one of our very favorite places. Bernie is a trained chef. He is primarily in the catering business, but he opened this little deli and always has an assortment of chicken salads that are great He also has an assortment of great desserts The carrot cake has captured my heart. Best of all is you can pick up dinner for the family. It's all very good.There are a couple tables out front.

What a great place to get a bite to eat with such friendly service! My husband and I were visiting the area from St. Pete and after a hike were looking for a place for some fresh and healthy lunch. Needless to say, there aren't that many options in the area, which was great because it led us right to Bernie's! Bernie was so friendly and took time to ask what brought us to the area. We told him that we were newlyweds that had taken a little trip to do some exploring of springs, rivers, lakes, etc. He loved that and told us to never stop exploring! Anyways, my husband got the portabella sandwich and I got the waldorf chicken salad sandwich. Both were delish! My sandwich was loaded with chicken salad, so much so that I was able to eat it for lunch the next day as well! If we are ever in the area again, we will be sure to stop at Bernies!

Delicious, healthy meals at a great price delivered with warmth, caring, and smiles. I have no idea how Bernie's has anything but 5 star reviews. We have been coming here since they opened almost 15 years ago. They were a Godsend after I had my 2nd child, especially with my husband and I working full-time plus jobs. Bernie posts his menu every Monday morning--call ahead to reserve meals as he does sell out of popular selections quickly. Their holiday specials are also fantastic, and you can't go wrong with any of the deli case items/chicken salad.

Amazing deli food! I always drive by here and decided to finally try it and its fantastic! Authentic, quality food and it's pretty reasonably priced! They're super nice too, told them to keep the few dollars change for tip jar and they insisted I keep it lol. Definitely worth every penny! I'll be back!

I absolutely LOVE this place! Never have i ever been unsatisfied with my order. Food is always fresh, Breads are plenty to pick from which i like...I have not had the chance to try all the chicken salad flavors since there are so many to pick from but so far my favorite, i must say is the chipotle chicken!! One of the sandwiches many dont know about is the bbq pulled chicken, WOW. ..Just absolutely ridiculous how good that sandwich is. So highly recommend, also the carrot cake is perfected! You must try. Dinners are also reasonably priced!

The food is fresh and the service is wonderful. I had the traditional chicken salad in a wrap and macaroni salad... Both were delicious and I could taste how fresh and of good quality the ingredients were. They brought my order out to my car, which was very nice since I had my two little rascals with me, and I got a sense of how friendly the woman was who brought out my order - even with her mask on. It seems like a wonderful local establishment and I can't wait to try the other flavors and dishes!

Everybody should visit this deli at least once. The food is good, home made, and a nice variety of specialties: - Sandwiches and sides. - THE place for chicken salads (dense and a lot of flavors to pick from). - Prepared entrees that you can take home and heat up. I really like the Tuscan salad and my wife really likes the tortellini salad. We typically visit for sandwiches and always end up picking up something else to take home.

My father passed away and my family & I wanted to make sure our mother didn’t have to worry about anything. Bernie sat down with us and discussed menus for the visitation and a gathering at our home after the services. Bernie was very kind and offered the use of his platters and bowls for presentation. This place is sooooooo good! Their chicken salad is creamy and authentic. Their side dishes are sublime. Don't even get me started on their delectable lemoncello mascarpone cake. The atmosphere is soothing and the people are cordial. I will definitely go to again.

Bernie is one of the best chefs in Central Florida and the reason I used to be a regular at Nicole St Pierre in Winter Park back in the day. Everything he does here is amazing. His Shepherds Pie is the best I've ever had though its only part of his rotating dinner menu. Each day he makes ONE very special hot meal (check the website for the menu) you can eat there or take to go. They are really enough for two people. Then on his regular menu are things like 10 diff kinds of chicken salad, his own special takes on traditional sandwiches and lots of salads. I work next door at the liquor store and our customers can pop in there and get dinner to go after grabbing a bottle of wine or something for cocktails here. If you are having guests over you can't go wrong with anything on the catering menu too!

All their food is delicious! The smoke ham and cheddar cheese quiche was extremely tasty. Not ever having quiche before now I'm on board and ready to try all flavors.

The place reminds me of a homey new york deli. I got the smoked ham and cheddar quiche and wasnt disappointed. I'll definitely be back to try some of the different sandwiches.

First time visiting,can't believe we have lived here 7 months and have kept driving by.almost feel guilty for spending money at other lunch spots. Friendly service,lady's were quick to have us sample lots of chicken salad. Our wrap was delicious,large portions,we were able to save some to take home.bakery items looked fantastic as well.
