Wonderful food and wonderful people.

Quaint place with an interesting story about the German couple who founded it. However, the single server covering the entire dining room was overwhelmed for lunch when we came, so it took a while for our food to come. $6.49 for a fish sandwich and $13.99 for the cod dinner with 2 small pieces of fish.

Great food, came out fast. Server was very attentive. Prices are reasonable.

Excellent German and American food.

You can tell the ower has put heart and soul into the cafe! My daughter and I got a ruban. My child doesn't like sauerkraut and she ate every bit of her sandwich. It was by far the best I have ever had! Our dog was welcome on the back porch and was given a bowl of ice water. Our party of 6 and a dog was greeted and well taken care of by the waitress. Overall, the whole experience was pleasant and delicious. Would definitely recommend it to all in the area!!!

After living in Germany for 3 years, I love a good jagerschnitzel with German potato salad. Blue Holler has these and so many more great eats! In good weather, we enjoy eating on the covered back porch which has a peaceful view of the woods.

I had lasagna and Sam had schizeleand it was so flavorful. So happy to return to this little gem of a restaurant. Staff was so kind. 5 of 5 stars across the board!!

We had a great meal at Blue Holler Cafe. There is not many places to eat in the area and it was a nice cafe with a German flair.

We randomly made a stop here and holy smokes is the German food delicious. The service was wonderful, the owner is a gem and the atmosphere is unique. The sauerkraut is so delicious we asked for an additional side . We will more than likely go out of the way to make a stop here next time .

Large portions, great food. We were part of a large group and the kitchen had a little trouble keeping up but the food was worth the wait.

I had the Patty Melt with fries and the sauce was fantastic! My husband had the Shaslik and it was amazing! They really know how to pack flavor and joy into their sauces. Even the caramel drizzle on their Pecan Pie was great! The owner was so friendly and the staff made us feel right at home. Can't wait to make it back here on our next trip.

You have to have the Patty Melt... amazing. The pork chop was great. The entire staff, hostess, waitress, cook, we're just so friendly. Honest southern hospitality. I would highly recommend dining here, it's like home.

Country kitchen for sure I'd recommend

If you’re exploring Kentucky at all, or just passing through, this little joint is a must. We’re from Ohio, but if we had this at home, we’d certainly be regulars. Everything was fabulous and I couldn’t rave enough about it.

Nice quaint local restaurant close to the lake. Unfortunately, they sold out of the big pretzel, but their smoked porkchop was very good. They also had a special peach cheesecake that was great. The service was friendly, they made us feel very welcomed. We will be back.

Cute little small town diner. Didn’t expect much, and it lived up to that. I had a BLT and some cheese fries, and we also got the jalapeño poppers. Good, nothing spectacular though. We were sad they were out of the pretzels when we went. Our waitress was sweet as can be! 10/10 for the service for sure. They had lots of silly little knick knacks around we enjoyed looking at while we were eating, too. Pretty view in the back, but it was a little too chilly to sit outside, unfortunately.

When visiting anywhere around Mammoth Cave National Park, it is well worth the drive to this authentic German restaurant! Driving is a bit longer due to the Green River Ferry being closed. Food and service....fantastic!

On Saturday we stopped in with a large group. Honestly felt rude because it was so quiet and we had a load of kids. But the staff and people in the restaurant were so friendly and welcoming. Food was hot and came out fast and it was good. Thank you!

Really cute local restaurant. The food was good, but I'm pretty sure the gravy and biscuits were pre-made from a mix or a can. But, it was a really fun place to go.

First time to eat German food. and it did not disappoint! Be sure to check to see if they are open before driving a distance. They close in October for the winter.

Wonderful food. The German goulash, German homemade spaetzel were perfect. Made by hand by a German couple. My husband got the hillbilly taco. It was a corn meal pancake with a really good barbecue and coleslaw on top of it. For dessert I had the apple pie and it was heavenly. My husband got the hot cherry crumble with ice cream he loved it. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're out in the area.

Hidden gem!!! Very friendly staff, the owner is so nice and the food is excellent! A great selection of food including Authentic German dishes, a hood old fashioned cheese burger, and the BEST homemade Apple pie.

EXCELLENT!!!!!! The food was so good! The service was great! We spent a few years in Germany so when we heard there was a German restaurant in mammoth cave we were psyched! It did NOT disappoint! I had jaegerschnitzle and my husband had the currywurst. We both had sauerkraut and green beans. DELICIOUS! It took us back to Germany. Considering we had literally just came from Michigan where we visited the Bavarian Inn for lunch in Frankenmuth and left really disappointed in the food.We were over the moon excited to try Blue Holler Cafe. The staff was super friendly!

On way to Nolin Lake we stopped for lunch. We love German food and will seek it out when traveling and we're looking forward to our meal. The hostess owner had a very distinct German accent so we got even more excited that we were in for a treat! The warm German style potatoe salad was very good. Enough bacon and very flavorful. The schnitzel unfortunately fell short. It appeared to have been deep fried rather than pan fried in butter which is the more typical. That deep fry and heavy thick batter left it a bit dry and the Batter not light. The large pretzel was good, probably not from scratch homemade but tasted good except for some over cooked (or reheated) tips. Cheese sauce in addition to the mustard was provided when we asked. Would we go out of our way again to visit, probably not.

If you are looking for a restaurant that offers a taste of a different culture, then Blue Holler is it. This small cafe is bringing a slice of Deutschland to Kentucky, but don't worry, they also have American-based dishes avaialble. The restaurant is just a short drive from Mammoth Cave NP and has a very beautiful view of the park on its outside balcony. However, it's not currently open to dining outside due to staff shortages. Our server was very welcoming. The decor is also a hodgepodge of German and American trinkets. We ordered the Shrimp Basket, Chicken Fried Steak, Jager Schnitzel, and Zigeuner Schnitzel. The portions were perfect and we even took some home to enjoy on another day of our trip. A small note to out-of-town visitors is that this county is a dry county meaning alcohol sales are prohibited. If you're in the area and hungry, this cafe will fill your stomach happy.

My husband an I enjoyed our meal and talked to the owners before they left for vacation. We got pretzels bigger than your head. But the girl gave us all kinds of different mustards and cheese to take home because we were having friends over for the football game and we were going to share the pretzel. 😀 It was awesome.

Authentic Schnitzel!! This is a "best kept secret" kind of place. Well worth the drive! Friendly folks, delicious food, CLEAN establishment. Only wish I had found them sooner. And if I could give more than four stars I would!

Excellent food and wonderful atmosphere! I highly recommend the pork baked potato. Mounds of wonderfully cooked pork with butter, sour cream, cheese, peppers and onions. It was huge! Everything was delicious!

Excellent service. Tad disappointed that they didn't have the Bavarian cake. But the food and friendly people made up for that. Overall a place I'll visit again.

What a great spot for breakfast! Fed 3 adults for under $30! Authentic homemade breakfast food! Flavorful gravy on homemade biscuits and perfect gravy. The staff is so sweet and attentive. You can tell this restaurant is a labor of love for them. And to be honest it's the first place we've been to in Kentucky that was taking any covid precautions (separations between tables and gloves on servers) which is nice (not that the place that weren't bothered us). The view from the deck is beautiful though they were short staffed so we couldn't sit outside.

In an area starving for eateries, this rustic diner is an unexpected treat. This was my first time dining here, and I ordered the jaeger schnitzel, a traditional German dish. Very good! Dessert was quite pleasant as well. Though they feature several German-inspired items, they also offer American staples. Come for the food, come for the beauty of the area (Mammoth Cave/Nolin River Lake), come and meet this endearing German couple who will most likely welcome you with their unique brand of Southern hospitality and charm.

Red cabbage, sauerkraut had great flavor. Curry wurst brat casing was chewy. Jagerschnitzel was thin and tough. My friend had brats and German potato salad great flavor and a ziguener schnitzel which was thicker than mine and not as tough. I plan on trying something else next time.

We got a takeout breakfast. They have a nice looking covered patio but that day they were under staffed. Throughly enjoyed the veggie omelette, side of crispy bacon, and two pancakes. If you’re in the area don’t miss this unique place.

The waitresses were very kind and helpful. We were a large group of out-of-towners for the socially distanced venue so that may be why the owner seemed to scoff at our group the entire time. The food was brought out cold and seemed to be mostly frozen center of the plate items that were not really well prepared. Hopefully we just came on a bad night because the reviews we read were pretty strong.
