BCN Taste & Tradition in Houston is a participant in Houston Restaurant Weeks, a citywide event where restaurants offer special prix-fixe menus with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Houston Food Bank. It's a great way to try some of Houston's top dining spots while supporting a good cause. My experience at BCN Taste & Tradition was a mix of highs and lows. The restaurant has a beautiful, elegant atmosphere that states sophistication—almost to the point of feeling a bit too pretentious. Think "sit up straight with your pinky in the air while sipping espresso" kind of vibe. It's clearly a place designed for those who appreciate the finer things in life, but it can come off as a bit over the top. They’re known for their gin and tonics, which is a unique and cool aspect of the restaurant. I decided to try the squid rice with Branzino. While the portion of rice was generous, the fish itself was almost comically small—maybe about 3/4 oz. My fiancé opted for the duck, which our waiter warned us would be a small portion as well. The duck was delicious, but the portion size was indeed tiny, especially given the price point. The food was good, but I couldn't help but feel like I was paying for the atmosphere more than anything. For what we spent, we could have gone somewhere else and actually left feeling full. While BCN Taste & Tradition certainly delivers on ambiance and presentation, the portion sizes left much to be desired. If you're someone who enjoys high-end dining experiences with a side of extravagance, this might be your spot. However, it's just not my style, and I likely won’t be returning. There are plenty of other places in Houston where you can get more value for your money.

top of the line .. delicious food, clean inside, great presentation

Wonderful! The experience at BCN was exceptionally good. I've previously been to their starter restaurant, MAD, and this one was noticeably more subdued, in a good way. The food and presentation was phenomenal. The atmosphere was one that encouraged conversation without overhearing other tables or feeling rushed. Several works of art associated with Spain decorate the building (a Picasso was directly behind our table) and the atmosphere was pleasantly warm without being too dark. If you drink cocktails, get one of their gin and tonics. All were phenomenal and there are no wrong choices. The entire meal was again, and the Houston Restaurant Week menu did not disappoint, featuring a sampling of options from their regular menu (too many places have a different, often inferior HRW menu). Standouts for the food included the appetizer potatoes and ham (not on the HRW menu), the suckling pig, duck and steak. All phenomenal. A bit on the more expensive side, but worth it if you appreciate fine dining. Highly recommend. (Pictured are some appetizers, including the potatoes and ham, and cocktails). Valet is not required, but highly recommended. $8 fee to valet. (The only dedicated lot is for valet). HRW menu is $55 per person not including drinks, with several upgrade options. If doing HRW, the entire table must do so, though you can add things from the regular menu. Normal menu prices vary, but expect to spend $80-150 per person, unless you are intentionally frugal ($55/per person is really the bottom end). Of course this can go much higher, especially if you add bottles of wine.

Food was superb, but Mario is what made the night memorable. Wonderful experience.

We had terrible service there . Our waiter was very pushy and would not give us any time to order , felt very rushed . We left after ordering our drinks and appetizers . The manager was nice enough to offer us to have dinner on them however by this time we were already turned off and went elsewhere instead. Food looked pretty and appetizers were good .

Disappointing to see BCN fall off as it has. The food the last 3 times we’ve been was not to its prior level but it has really taken a turn for the worse. The food quality was so bad this time. The “crispy artichokes” are limp, grilled artichoke hearts. Not as described. The $60+ ribeye was not high quality and overcooked. They recommended medium rare and then cooked it medium, bordering medium well. Service was still decent but not like it has been previously. They made good wine suggestions but otherwise it was unremarkable. It’s sad to see a once reliably awesome place struggling to put out a quality dining experience. Hoping they get it together!

Brought my mother here for Mother’s Day and we had the best time. The customer service was outstanding and the food was an entire experience in and of itself.

All was impeccable, from valet to service and food. Seriously great experience. Will be back for sure. I recommend the tartare as appetizer for sure but all is delicious. Try the romesco sauce as well. Thanks so much for the wonderful anniversary guys!

BCN continues to outdo themselves time and time again. Every morsel was exquisite and a work of art. The cocktails and wine recommendations we receive are always amazing and perfectly paired. Our group this time around was torn on dessert so we sampled nearly every option! Delicious!

As always, a wonderful dining experience. The food has the all-too-rare combination of being both delicious & beautiful. The service does not lack in knowledge of the dishes or in attentiveness. At times, a touch solicitous. I return because BCN is at the peak of fine dining in Houston & has been for many years now.

It's the only place in town that makes me feel like I'm back in Spain during the visit. Every time is a unique experience.

Rude staff called the towing company although the driveway is clearly open and were unwilling to compromise. Clearly this is indicative of the character of restaurant. Will never be back.

This is truly one of the best restaurants in Houston. A beautiful intimate space with beautiful art, incredible selections, and the best staff in the business. You truly cannot go wrong with any selection. The warmth and energy of this establishment is unmatched, and the food is truly immaculate.

we went there for my friend’s birthday, so impressed by the service, everyone is so friendly and professional, when they recommend the menu, can give you a log of detail, and the food over there are terrific.

The food was incredible. The chef's tasting menu was so rich and so well thought out. Our server Guillermo had great recommendations and was incredibly knowledgeable. He picked incredible drinks and food for us. After dinner, he showed us all the original art work and talked about it with us. Some of the best service ever. I highly recommend

This restaurant has a special place in my heart & always will.... Barcelona's cuisine right in Houston! Barcelona was such a treat to visit primarily because of the food & I had the wonderful experience of taking a cooking class there, so this review is from that perspective. The place: it's in a two story home which makes the experience even more intimate and at home Wine: always go for red, add fruit...ok get the sangria is you must! Food: we did the branzino to share with patatas bravas and scallops to start & EVERYTHING was very well cooked and properly seasoned as well. Service: A1 as always, you're treated like royalty! Come alone to treat yourself, win your date over, or enjoy with friends and family!

BCN checks all the boxes. The atmosphere was outstanding, the food was delicious. Guillermo was absolutely incredible. The most prompt, professional, easy to talk to server I’ve experienced. After he walked us through every dish, on the tasting menu, he walked us through the restaurant and their art collection consisting of Picasso’s, Dali and Miro. Do yourself a favor and book your dinner reservations now.

My wife and I went to BCN last night for my birthday. We are self proclaimed “foodies” who migrated to Houston from Manhattan almost 2 years ago. Our dinner was one of our best culinary experiences thus far in Houston. The suckling pig was outstanding. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly seasoned. The croquettes were also a big hit. Definitely a must try. We also had the potatos bravas and crispy artichoke which were both solid. My Negroni was the best I’ve had since our most recent trip to Italy. On top of all of that the service was exceptional. If you’re considering checking out BCN for a special event don’t hesitate, pull the trigger. You won’t regret it.

Perfect experience for a special occasion. The food is delicious, and the service is impeccable. The dining room is QUIET, which is a delightful and welcome surprise. Even with the gourmet food and the lovely ambiance, the restaurant is not stuffy at all. In fact, Eder, our waiter, took us on a mini-tour of the beautiful art works after dinner (Picasso figures, Miró litho). Last night was my first trip to BCN Taste & Tradition, but it will not be my last. Memorably wonderful experience last night.

This food was quite underwhelming. I tried 4 dishes that were all highly recommended by the staff and none of the dishes seemed on point.

This spot was just ok. The service was great but we were seated upstairs and the wooden floors make the private rooms very noisy. The food was just ok - I’ve had some of the best in Spain and this didn’t live up to it unfortunately. Visiting Jinya Ramen Bar Midtown Houston is always exciting and never disappointing, They expanded their menu offering now delicious vegan options. I love ramen soup and selected this time ‘Flying Vegan Harvest’ - all vegan and nicely balanced from the spice level. The best vegan ramen I had. Also the dish ‘Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen’ is a strong recommendation. Overall Jinya is a great place for eating ramen in Houston.

It was a good experience, the staff was attentive and very knowledgeable and the drinks were good. The food was good but not as good as other restaurants in the city that have similar price points for their per person. I'd say where they shine are appetizers which could get 5 stars but most of the entrees were par. I'd say a bit more creativity and transformation with their vegetable, rice and side options could change that

I have been to this place twice and everything they make is incredible. The food is top notch, tasty, high quality, good portions (European style) Their service is high level - they have a solid team that makes you feel well-attended to. Their set up is perfect for a date night or special occasion. For drinks they have a strong selection of gin and tonics, they take a great deal of pride in them as well as a good selection of Spanish wines.

I took my husband to a birthday dinner last night at BCN. Wow, what a wonderful experience! The food quality and presentation were amazing. IMHO, BCN has the best table service of any upscale restaurant in Houston. Our waiter was Carlos Rosas, and he was awesome—-didn’t miss a beat. Highly recommend the quail eggs, duck salad, foie gras and lamb chops. We’ll be back to BCN soon.

Truly an amazing dining experience! The sea bass was so fresh, well prepared and beautifully plated. The gin cocktails are equally beautiful. We also loved the molten chocolate cake; decadent and worth it! The restaurant is elegantly understated but not stuffy. The service is impeccable and friendly. Parking is valet and $8 not including tip. Highly recommend for one of the best meals in Houston!

Very expensive and nothing compared to the authentic Mediterranean food, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This is what bothers me more than anything. When a chef and his team is presenting an amazing offering and the service quality is not much better than a local diner. My experience from a few years back was amazing food and an amazing service- sense of hospitality and professionalism. Today it was more like “you want fries with that”. The hard part is that the food is still amazing - some of the best in city. Need someone that knows what to do to hire and train the correct staff. Also, do be classless like some of Tillman’s places - at $100+ person, don’t nickel and dime $8 out of people for valet which is only option - very bad form. Again- chef, chef’s team and food amazing- so sad what’s happening front of house.

Right now, my favorite place in Houston. Having been to MAD previously, I liked that BCN was quiet and more traditional. The venue reminds me of Olamaie in Austin. Definitely a special occasion restaurant.

Food was great, service was impeccable. It it too loud, you can't hear the person across the table. Other than that, it was fantastic.

This is the best lamb & wine experience that I've ever had! The lamb was simmered perfectly, and this process gave it the perfect balance of flavor & moisture. The cuttlefish & rice were cooked incredibly well; the process gave them a good consistency in context and juicy flavor. The bomba rice was delicious. The desserts were well-balanced in sweetness, consistency, and taste. The gen & tonic combinations were especially effervescent & delicately crafted to give them a clean, berry-sweet taste.

I have been to the BCN twice now, both times for dinner and have already reserved for my 3rd time in November. I lived in Barcelona for 13 years and originally chose the location based on researching their website and noting the menu was also in Catalan. Bar and restaurant service is very well informed, polite and and patient . The first night, the Queen of Spain was having dinner there and still we were treated excentlly even with the extra pressure on all the staff. Food is very good with Catalan and traditional Spanish dishes. Excellent appetizers and a quality wine menu. You will not go wrong dining here and the experience is memorable. Had a very nice conversation with Paco, the GM, a real gentleman. Highly recommend! Had the Sea Bass (Labina)and it was delicious

Service was great. Pedro was the best part of out experience at BCN. The off menu 36 month jamon and tomato bread was one of the best plate of the night, the cochinillo and the fideua were lacking something. Off menu calamari was good. The papatas bravas are amazing order 3 orders at least. Flan was average.

BCN is our go to restaurant for special occasions. Tonight we went for my husbands Birthday. Once again our experience reminded us why we keep coming back. To us, it's not only the delicious food and drinks, but also the service and the experience. The food is always amazing. Delicious and prepared to perfection. The service is above the bar which makes the experience even better. You are made to feel like family. Our server Juan always goes out of his way to make sure we not only have everything we need, but also makes sure everything exceeds our expectations. You are made to feel like royality when you dine at BCN. It is worth the trip all the way from the Clear Lake area. If you haven't experienced BCN, you need to. Ask for Juan and I know you'll have a fantastic experience.

Had a fantastic experience! Top service, and five star experience. Even though it is named after Barcelona, the vibe is more like Madrid. Charming converted home, that displays some of the owner’s private art collection. I left very impressed with the service staff, no only do they know the menu left and right, but they were very eloquent on the wine list and the art pieces in the room.

A first class restaurant and a first class experience. We enjoyed the unique tapas, the melon and seafood soup and the beautiful duck and langoustine entrees. The Rioja Blanca is superb as well, really nice wine.

I think the atmosphere could be a little bit more exotic, and the AC was a bit chilly for me. Now, everything else was above expectations : excellent dishes, refined and authentic. They do not honor reservations. Was in town for one night and looked forward to going. Was called 90 min before reservation and they cancelled because of rain. We had reservations for almost a month. Lovely restaurant, but the food was average. We had ravioli with Jason iberico - tasteless, bluefin tuna - Excellent , Spanish Iberia ham - seemed like it had been stored in heat, the taste had gone and it was so greasy/warm ($50) patatas bravas - 5 small mashed type potatoes with aioli sauce - the sauce was standard aioli - nothing interesting or now , shrimp special - just average and overcooked without flavour. With the exception of the bluefin tuna which was very good, the food would be what one would expect from a very basic tapas restaurant. We had G&T to start and they mixed Hendricks with lemon, this is not how you mix Hendricks. The waitress filled up my G&T with leftover tonic which further ruined the mix. The wine was ok but nothing at all special The waitress was lovely but seemed to not notice the half eaten plates and kept on saying everything is awesome. BCN in Barcelona is far superior. Great experience! Came here on a week night, and was pleased with most all things from start to finish. Knowledgeable waiters and very friendly service. Appetizers and desserts were the best parts of our meal. We especially enjoyed the grilled calamari in the avocado purée, and the cheese tray. As we departed, one of our party members was very assertively and repeatedly asked to tip the valet, which the restaurant advertised via text to be complimentary.
