Bom Apetite in New Bedford - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

Having a hard time calling ahead .and reserving a table online . The phone rings and rings. And the Google assistant can't reach anyone and yet we were told to call and reserve a table Friday and Saturday nights .?!??!?!?! Not sure why this is ?

Pretty bad when you hate fish and your fries and steak taste like it. Then tell the waiter who takes the plate. Comes back to tell me the chef, supervisor, plus himself tasted the food off my plate snd they all said its not fishy so you have to pay. Ridiculous who does that and who's to say they have the same taste buds. When that didn't fly they say well you ate it so have to pay. How else would I have known if I didn't take the one bite from each. Then again tried to make me pay for fishy meal by noting the person I was with ate theirs...well they like fish. Unbelievable how they just lost my business over a 20 dollar steak. They made a scene in front of everyone. RUDE STAFf AND DISCUSTING FISHY FOOD. ...change your oil or cook fish seperate ..problem solved. Will not return.

Went to eat for a special occasion, our waiter a tall dark dyed hair and shirt unbuttoned down to his hairy chest (gross for a waiter.. He totally ignored me his focus was on my male partner , to the point I told him that I wasn’t coming back for the way he treated me like I wasn’t there..Asked my partner how was the meal but never asked me like I wasn’t even there..

I had made a reservation for 8 people. When I got there, the waiter came out and asked if he could help us, I explained I had a reservation for 8. He looked at a piece of paper confirmed my number and said “well, I have no room for you, if you want to wait, you wait if not then I don’t know what to tell you.” I will not be going back here. Rude and very unprofessional. I do NOT recommend this place.

Absolutely one of my favorite Portuguese restaurants and the service is excellent

Asked for medium steak got a very undercooked steak, staff is not friendly when doing takeout.

Steak was well done when I asked for medium this happen several times then asked asked them please can I have it medium and they laughed in my face and said sure then again it was well done

This place used to be a 5 star restaurant which I previously rated it as but now it's become a long wait with expensive prices and the woman waiting tables is rude and inattentive. Also I'm almost 100% positive the cooks that have been there forever are gone because the food is nothing like it used to be.

I think its important to know you will be charged per Soda... like no refills. Which is pretty bad since it takes soooo long to get your food. Expect a 2 hr dining experience... The homemade cheese was out of this world delicious! Otherwise food was just so-so.

Service is poor. Half hour wait for our order. Place is under staffed. We were given no menu. Fortunately we knew what we wanted. Years back place was excellent. Now including the food not so much. I don't think I,ll go there again.

Steak sandwich with fries and espresso makes a reasonably priced and delicious lunch. Sat at the bar to get faster service and it worked well

Casual - Family Friendly - Great Value - Great Food. We had dinner here with a group of friends ( 8 of us). We had 5 appetizers: Shrimp Mozambique ($13), Little Necks Portuguese Style ($16), Little Necks Spanish Style ($16.50), Cheese ($4) and flaming Chourico Sausage ($10.25) - all excellent. Loved my steak with a garlic sauce and lots of rice & french fries and a egg on top ($31). Two other dinners received rave reviews around the table - Cod Fish Bras Style (Baccala) and the Cacoila (marinated pork). We had 4 pitchers of Sangria. For dessert we had Flan Pudding ($5.25), Pistachio Cake ($7) and Chocolate Cake ($5.50). The Pistachio Cake was particularly outstanding. Total cost for eight people: $274. What a deal. Excellent service. Can't wait to go back.

One of the few places I’ve ever come close to being a regular. Great prices and great food. When busy the service can be slow but I like to take my time when I go to diner so it’s never an issue for me. Love the fresh cheese and Portuguese steak.

The food was very good but the service was lousy. The server basically ignored me and was very unattentive because it was just me at a table. Probably won't be back due to the service alone.

Food was excellent. The server on the other hand lacked serving capabilities of taking care of people at a table. I get up Portuguese don't bother going there only cater to themselves.

Friendly staff, clean and inviting atmosphere, delicious Portuguese foods with large portions and reasonably priced.

If you ever read my posts you'll know I'm big on ambiance. This is a very simple restaurant in a very unassuming spot... And the Portuguese food is spectacular! And the prices are fantastic.

Service was great. Fries were really good and the batter on the fish was really good too. But the fish itself wasnt that great. Otherwise, the rest of the dining experience was good.

Place has gone downhill. Waitress was horrible! She only had 3 tables.

I just wanted to say the reason for the 3 stars was because of the rude waitress we had serving us. Otherwise, the food was delicious and the gentleman that was helping was also very pleasant. The waitress seemed very annoyed and unhappy with us when we asked for anything. She also kept telling the kids to shush from across the room which was super unprofessional and not necessary. I’ve never experienced that before. They were being kids and we make sure as parents that they are not a bother to anyone.

Pork was dry textured but with gravy...very tasty. It came w/ 4 cherrystone clams, 1 slice of red pepper and 2 olives. Wish I had a little more of those additional flavors. Plenty to fill me up with the fried potatoes. I'd go back.

Reminds me of my late Avozinha's cooking. And the Flan is hands down the best. Not the best area & it's a little out dated looking but don't let the looks deceive you! Cheap home cooking & good portions.

Este restaurante está dividido en dos partes, el resto de Aran y el bar. Los bancos está lleno de familias y el bar está lleno de hombres, como el viejo país. La comida es buena, las bebidas son razonables, el personal es genial. Ofertas especiales en el bosrd. Un montón de cenas portuguesa y mariscos. Aparcamiento es atroz, la gente detrás de usted no dejando parque alejado.

I visited for a drink at the bar, ended up staying for dinner, and I'm glad I did. The bartender and the people at the bar were, to a person, friendly and engaging. I was persuaded to check out the dinner menu, so I moved to a table. Service was (no surprise) friendly and prompt. I ate the caçoila, and it was very good. The waiter offered a wine pairing as well. I had a great time, and I urge you to give this place a try. I don't think you'll regret it.

I've been to Bom Apetite several times and continue to enjoy it like it was my first time. I tend to always have the Steak Regionale which is cooked nicely, smothered with a fried egg, garlic and hot pepper slices ..... Very satisfying and I hate to see my plate finished!! I've tried other dishe;s and they too have been fantastic. Start with goat cheese and pepper sauce smeared in a fresh baked Portuguese Pop (roll). To die for!!!!

I have been to this restaurant 3 times and each time was a delicious experience. Not fancy but very homey and fun. Would definitely go back again and again. Excellent drinks. Very authentic Portuguese food, including goat.

This is where we go when we want home cooked Portuguese food but don't feel like cooking at home. This isn't a very glamorous place but every dish is cooked exactly the way it should be and tastes like a little Vavo spent all day cooking your dinner in the kitchen. Go here for traditional Azorean fare, especially the grilled sardinhas. Another family favorite is the Alentejana, but my personal favorite is their shrimp Mozambique. The sauce is perfection!

This restaurant on Bellevikke Avenue is always busy. The Azorean Portuguse dishes are hearty and very good. Portions are large, service is attentive. All in all a very nice dining experience

I ate at Bom Appetite yesterday for a late lunch with a friend. We wanted authentic Portuguese food, and we got it. He had the Littlenecks Alentejana, a dish of pork and clams in a savory broth. I had the Blood Pudding with Grilled Pineapple. We washed it down with some Lancers Rose - not the high point of the meal, but the selection of wines available by the glass is very limited. There is an attached lounge, but we did not go in there. I enjoyed my meal, and plan to return with my wife. Note the spelling: it is Bom, not Bon. It's a Portuguese place, not French.
