Visited here for the first time. It's a small quaint restaurant. Everyone was very nice. Our server was Teki. She was terrific. We started off with an appetizer called Assiette de Deux Pate Maison, which was two pates, one with pork, duck and pistachios, and the other with duck liver cognac mousse. Our entrée consisted of Cordon Bleu for me and Crusted Trout for my husband. Everything was delicious. Restrooms were small but clean. There is outside seating and street parking. After 6 p.m. parking is free.

Get the La Bleu mussels with pomme frites (La Bleu—White wine, onions, garlic, bacon & bleu cheese). Take all the mussels out of the shell first to better absorb the flavors. Use bread to soak up the flavors when the mussels run out.

Prices don't really match the food quality or atmosphere. It was alright, but not a very nice place. I looked at the menu beforehand and planned to order the steak poive. But someone at the table behind me ordered it and when I saw it go by it didn't look good. I got the trout. Which was alright.

We visited because of a stellar online review but were sadly disappointed for numerous reasons. There was NO air conditioning and the temperature INSIDE was in the upper 80s, F. Three ceiling fans operated at what was obviously the slowest speed and we were told that they had no ability to turn them “up”. The hostess seemed put out that we wanted another table other than a small side table we were originally offered. Apathy pervaded. The server was good but that did not make up for a miserable environment.

Overall the food here is great. Halibut special was incredible. Duck flavorful but one piece was not well seared. The broth for the mussels was flavorful but the mussels didn’t seem to take on any of the flavor unfortunately, and many were gritty. Atmosphere is always good. I subtract one star for the service because I felt that the server was slightly misleading. The server asked us if we wanted bread with the mussels (as if it were included). Yes, bread separately on the menu costs money but I felt in this case since the server specifically asked/ offered it, there should’ve been more transparency about the cost. The reservation also indicated it was our anniversary and there was no acknowledgement of that (even verbal).

We were here a few months ago and had a fantastic experience. It’s a relatively small restaurant and we had made reservations two weeks ahead in anticipation of our visit to Asheville. We enjoyed everything we tried. The mussels and escargot were very well prepared and very flavorful. The steak au poivre was absolutely delicious. The ambience was laid back, cool but sophisticated and the service was timely and attentive without being overbearing. I would highly recommend.

So good!!!! Every bite seemed to make you sit back and sigh in contentment! We ordered the escargot, cheese fondue, baguette with garlic confit, and the lobster stuffed ravioli. The ravioli was so good, we ordered a second portion! Then we had the banana dessert. It was all amazing! The only thing I would have preferred would have been if the bread would have been toasted. Our server was super helpful and friendly, he helped us pick out wine to go with our meal, and he was helpful and quick with service. It was an amazing date night. And the ambiance hits as soon as you open the door, it smells SO good inside! I wish I lived closer because I would absolutely go again!

Based on Google research we decided to try this restaurant. We just came back from a day on the French Broad River whitewater rafting, and were quite hungry, and wanting something more casual, homie and comfortable at the same time. This hit all the check boxes. The food was great, we had an interesting drink that you don't find at other places that was also marvelous, there was plenty of food we could not finish it all and we wanted to because it was so good. We had a French onion soup and it was spectacular. Probably one of the best we've had. We have a lot of French onion soups it is one of our favorite items. We also had an appetizer of Rracelet cheese fondue. It was so good I had to scrape the last bits out with a spoon. I hope I do not need a laxative in the morning with all the cheese I have eaten. I had all you can eat Parisian muscles and I did not need a second serving. They were delicious, plump and there was more than I could eat. We also had a creme brulee for dessert. A creme brulee is probably my all-time favorite dessert and I consider myself an expert on creme brulee. There are many factors that make a great creme brulee including the proper thickness of the melted sugar on top, the flavor of the cream and most importantly the texture of the cream which has to be exactly right. This creme brulee was perfect I wish I had more room in my stomach for a second or third of these.

My husband took our 1 year old daughter and myself on a date here. Our food was delicious and our server was great. Another tall male server was talking through the kitchen window to staff in the back, he was only standing a few feet from us. He told the kitchen person “that is what breeders call a baby”. What a disgusting comment. We were 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant and the only with a child so…even if he wasn’t talking about us, how vile and dehumanizing. 100% will never give my money to this business again.

Small, French Bistro styled restaurant. Full bar and varied, primarily French wine list. Service was prompt and friendly. The PEI mussels were excellent. We also tried the Pomme Frites which came with a marvelous aioli , and the Panne et Beurre, with Garlic confit. The only downside was the white wine, a really good French Sancerre was not really cold when served.

We wanted an eclectic dining experience for our last night of vacation. Bouchon is in a trendy area, very hip. First off, we made reservations for outside seating, which turns out to be a covered alley. Because they close at 930 and our reservations were for 830, they started bringing out the garbage right by our table during dinner. We had the pate duo to start- very good. My sister enjoyed her French onion soup. She ordered Steak a Poivre- peppercorn steak. The sauce, typically thick and savory, was thin, bland, with very little peppercorn flavor. I ordered mussels Parisienne, garlic, butter, white wine. While the mussels themselves were great, the broth was the color of dirty dishwater and had zero taste. I NEVER send things back, but this time I did. Instead I ordered the mussels with tomato sauce. These were much better. Our server, Justin, also brought us mussels cooked in PBR and whole grain mustard, which my sister really enjoyed. Justin, our server, went above and beyond and truly was wonderful. In conclusion, food was hit or miss, you may prefer to sit inside, but ask for Justin as your server!

Bouchon is one of the best restaurants in Asheville. We have driven 500+ miles the past three years to celebrate birthdays here, it’s that good. My favorite dish is the Duck. The orange sauce is fantastic and it is a large portion. The have a very extensive wine menu as well. The mussels are a great appetizer and the fries are some of the best I have ever had, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chicken cordon bleu is another favorite of ours, the prosciutto inside is amazing! Overall a great restaurant and a must try in Asheville!

This place does not know how to cater to customers. We came in with a party of 8 on a reservation and told we could not sit together (even though the tables were a few feet apart). I won't bother sharing the lie they told as an excuse because I felt bad that the management made this poor waitress defend their poor service. We were then told that we could not put both tables on one ticket even though we asked them to and we couldn't share wine between the tables, forcing us to order a bottle for each table (we probably would have had more wine if the tables were together). Then the food...the escargot was mediocre, the duck was decent (but for the price, it should have made my taste buds dance..it didn't), the creme brulee was tasteless, and the bread pudding was pretty good except they cheaped out with a small teaspoon of ice cream on the side. For the price, this place is not worth it, don't bother. I heard it is closing - probably because they don't treat their customers as well as they could. One more thing, any restaurant of this caliber that charges for orders of bread is appalling, to me this is a sign that the owners are cheap and probably overcharging for everything.

The food at Bouchon in Asheville, North Carolina, is truly alive. My wife and I got engaged and married in Paris. We fell in love with French cuisine and gastronomy during our visits there and have always found ourselves wanting more. We had a fantastique server named Leila who sat us at a table near the back of the restaurant on the patio. She was incredibly kind and even accommodated our small dog Ollie with a water bowl. We started our meal with the French onion soup, and it was absolutely perfect. Many French onion soups tend to be too salty, but this one struck a perfect balance of hearty cheese and onion with a refreshing broth at the base. The onions were chopped perfectly. Paired with some French bread to dip into the broth, it was equally impressive. My wife, who is pregnant, skipped the wine, while I enjoyed a glass of the Fournier Sauvignon Blanc. It had a great aroma intensity with a fruity palate and a touch of acidity. It paired beautifully with the Parisien Mussels. For my entrée, I ordered the full order of Parisien Mussels, which did not disappoint. They were so flavorful, and the mussel broth was divine. I used some of the leftover bread to dip into the broth—it was that good, I could drink it straight. My wife ordered the Steak Frites Bouchon. Since she was pregnant, she asked for it well-done. I am grateful to the chefs for respecting her request, as I know this is not the ideal way to cook steak. She was very happy with the result and enjoyed her entire meal. We ended our dinner with dessert. We shared the chocolate mousse (without chocolate chips) and the 100-year-old crème brûlée recipe. I did not want to share my crème brûlée, and she did not want to share her chocolate mousse—to say the least. This food is intoxicating. We have traveled all over the U.S. looking for a great French restaurant that takes us back to our time in France. Very few have come close, but Bouchon has succeeded. This was without a doubt our best experience at Bouchon. Thank you to the owners, chefs, and servers who put so much care into their craft—we love everything about this restaurant. Most of all, thank you to Leila, who made our experience unforgettable. Bouchon, which means "cork" in French, is inspired by the bouchons of Lyon, offering authentic French comfort food in a warm and welcoming environment. Their dedication to traditional French cuisine and exceptional service makes them a standout in Asheville's vibrant culinary scene

Server was one of the poorest we've had in a very long time. She was not attentive whatsoever. So much so that one of the other tables commented that she wanted to order desert, but said the waitress took so long to offer, that she gave up. You can really tell when someone does not want to be there. Unfortunately, the poor service did not make our 35th anniversary feel very special. Won't be back. Food was good, not excellent. One order of fries were hot, the other not so much. I really enjoyed the ravioli and my wife's steak was very good. Escargot was mediocre. Cooked on too high of heat where it over cooked the snail and under cooked the pastry.

Second time visiting beautiful Asheville. Great food all around the city, but not here at Bouchon. Made a reservation for 2 at 8:30PM. Had to enter credit card information for the resy. Now we know why. I’d have canceled had I known it would be this terrible. At 8PM we received a text saying we could come early. We didn’t. Arrived at 8:25 for our table. The place reeked of fryer oil. Quickly escorted to the back of the lower dining room to a table for four, where we could easily hear the dish room. Not ideal but the place was a bit full. Maybe it was a good sign. People near us raved about their meal. Perhaps another good sign. They had ordered the frites, along with probably everyone else in the dining room. Maybe you come here for the frites? We ordered a cocktail. It came. Not great. Ordered food and wine. Escargot, bread and butter with garlic confit, Beef Bourguignon, and a bottle of Burgundy. Escargot and bread to our table within 12 minutes. Fast service for a French place. Maybe it was the pace of the non-French music? Slammed our mediocre drinks. Waited several minutes for our wine. It finally came, set before us with white wine glasses. Nothing French about this. Dove into the escargot. Terrible. Chewy, sinewy. Disgusting. Clearly not fresh. Worst escargot we’ve ever had and now, an hour later, we’re burping it up. Bread? Stale. Garlic confit? Meh. Not impressed with anything at this point. Next comes the $29 bowls of WTF. Not hot. His had lots of gravy. Mine was pretty dry. Both served very luke warm. Server wanted to warm it for us but a spin in the microwave would have dried it out even more. Not happening. Ate half. Last chunk of beef in my trap nearly had me choking for it being so terribly dry. Server rewarded us with BOGO pricing. Not her fault, but she clearly knew it isn’t great food. Don’t spend your money here. We found the worst food in this food haven. You should find better! Don’t bother with Bouchon. We smell like frites and it is worse than terrible.

I was so excited to go to Bouchon tonight. We love RondeVous and we know this is their sister restaurant …. I was so disappointed when the muscles came out limp and slimy (we had already decided on them before we even got to the resturant bc we have had them several times at Rondervous and love them!!). The flavor was on point but they were not cooked enough. We almost never send food back but (bc it was seafood and we really wanted them) we did mention it to our waitress, she took the muscles back only to send the manager over who then let us know that the chef refused to fix the problem. We were not rude, and we didn’t make a big fuss about it… so this reaction was kinda surprising to us. Also… just for the record we didn’t eat most of them then complain…. My husband had one and I had one and we both agreed they weren’t right. Also during our dinner the dining room filled with smoke from the kitchen twice and the smoke alarms were going off. That’s not really a great experience. We prob wont be going back.

We’ve been a couple of times now and both visits were lovely. Once we sat upstairs for our anniversary and the other down with friends. I enjoy the vibe of both. A bit more quiet upstairs, but down feels like you’ve been transported to a bistro in Paris. Our recent visit was with friends. We couldn’t believe that we had been wining and dining for over 2 hours. We were having such a great time that we lost track of how long we had been there. My husband and I split some bread with garlic, a salad and the Moules Frites. We debated about dessert but ended up with a liquid dessert instead. Everything was delicious. Great service made for a wonderful night out with friends.

Wish there was an option to put a zero! My husband took me for my birthday. He called ahead for reservations. When we arrived we were told that there were no tables available, and we were escorted upstairs where we were seated at a "bar table" aka servers station facing a dirty kitchen sink and dishes and a bathroom to our immediate right. We tried to make the best of it and ordered two escargot which was pretty good. We then ordered veal and sea scallops...both were Nasty! A $128 sub-par meal with terrible atmosphere. Not my best birthday experience. The best part was there were several empty tables the entire time we were there! We will NEVER return!! Horrible over-priced experience!

My many years and many visits to Bouchon attest to my experiences and feeling about it. That changed on my most recent visit. Rather than being warm and inviting, the staff was curt. Additionally the food was served only warm, and the accompanying sauce had no taste. I am hoping this experience is an aberration, but will consider visiting Rendezvous instead, the sister restaurant, as I’ve head very good reports about it.

This is a small restaurant. The food is very good and presented nicely on a plate. The staff is friendly and helpful. We did not feel rushed and the waitress checked on us the right amount of time. They have a good wine list.

Wonderful French Restraunt located Downtown Asheville NC. Everything from the service to the food was delightful. I got the lamb chops and it was flavored to perfection. My wife got a cordeon Blu *spelling* She enjoyed her meal. The cocktail menu has plenty of options and the wine menu is expansive. Beer options were present not as expansive as the wine menu but enough choices. Our server, Lilly was so helpful and friendly. My only draw back is just the noise level of the Restraunt, but that can't be helped. It is a smaller place, but an exquisite theme which is enjoyable. I strongly recommend.

The folks there were great, but the food just is not what it used to be. The risotto was way overdone (basically mashed potato consistency) and soupy. And the duck wasn’t seasoned. We were quite disappointed.

The food was amazing I haven't been there in over 10 years, and it was still just as amazing as the first time which is hard to find. The only complaint that I have is the hostess was a little rude, but the waiter was very nice he knew the menu very well.

There were 4 of us dining. The ravioli appetizer, escargot and French onion soup were outstanding. The duck was just so so. The steak au poivre and chicken cordon bleu were excellent as was the creme brulee. Service was excellent.

I went here for my birthday dinner and it was a great meal. The prices were very affordable, and the food was great for the price. The mussels were the highlight of the meal for me. I really liked the sauce I got with them (I believe I chose the first option on the menu). The only negative I had regarding the food was that the vegetables were undercooked across the board with my steak au poivre, but the fries that came with it more than made up for that fact. I don't remember the waitresses' name, but she was amazing. She was actually able to understand me when I said the names of the dishes correctly (I'm French), and she had a great french accent when speaking to me in french!

Excellent food presentation. Flavors were not overbearing, as often can happen with French cuisine. Our server was not exactly attentive, yet she didn't hover over us either. A pleasant atmosphere once you enter the front door. Downtown Asheville is rough at times. Local government has not attempted to make the area more receptive to visitors. Parking is difficult on the street, but the garage is only a few blocks away.

Food was absolutely wonderful. Only small complaint is that it gets foggy in there real quick. We were seated at 5 and by the time we left 45ish minutes later it was pretty foggy from the kitchen, just a heads up!

I don't know why, but I noticed that nobody has said anything about the bottomless mussles. They don't do it anymore. They havent for a long time. The Beef Bourguignon came out cold, the Mussels were good. But also 28$ is a confident price, knowing it used to be bottomless for $14.

Overall my friend and I came here for a girls night out, we got the French onion soup, lobster ravioli, beef salad, steak and cream brûlée. The soup and the cream brûlée were the two best things of the night. My steak was hard to cut and had to ask for 2 knifes to cut through it. Flavor was good but was not a tender steak. I gave the atmosphere 1 stars because my view was of a pole. As my friend is in the service industry she said it’s not fair to sell our seats as a reservation. During meal we had to deal with being crowded due to people coming into the restaurant. Plus no one would ever think a bar seat would be looking at a pole. The whole ambience of the restaurant was ruined for us😑 Overall may come back but is not on my short list.

After initially arriving I was disappointed as it almost looked like a small restaurant with a bar and not much more. Not quite fancy as I’d though. We got seated upstairs which felt much more intimate. The food, the vibe, and everything was exceptional. The chicken cordon bleu was so tender, juicy, with a nice crust on the exterior, I loved every bite. My wife had the Saumon Dijonnaise which was also really really good. The bread with roasted garlic and butter was great too. We made a mistake and did not get dessert. I will absolutely be back at the restaurant, exceptional experience

My wife and I drove an hour and a half to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The entre came out and we were still working on our appetizer. After 45 minutes we had the check. This is unacceptable for restaurant where you spend 100+$ and it wasn't the first time this happened.
