I love this bakery. I have been vegan for a long time and this is my favorite spot to come get a sweet treat… I always get a few extra 😂😂 Thanks Hannah for being a sweetheart and making our experience lovely! TRY THE BRIOCHE!!!!!!!!

I love this bakery and café so much, it's a delicious and wonderful spot for a breakfast or lunch date. I love the food, and everything reflects great product quality. Their staff are always sweet and attentive. The prices are pretty fair for a vegan place in NOLA. This is a good spot to take family members visiting New Orleans! It always smells amazing. I frequently order here and I'm never disappointed.

I always stop by Bread On Oak when I visit New Orleans, and it never disappoints. They have the best cheesy grits, and the pumpkin sandwich is perfection. It's nice to dine somewhere that has an entire menu of vegan options. Thank you for the cruelty free goodness!

Amazing vegan bakery with really good variety and impressive spread of vegan treats. My favorites are the Biscuit Tower & Blueberry Muffin.

Great shop with lots of personality, the breads we bought were super delicious. The chew on the Baguette Parisienne was perfect; crispy crust, tender inside, good oven spring. The Pain au Levain had a good sour note, nice spongy texture, great crust, we made sandwiches with it very lightly toasted, it was perfect. As vegan brownies go this was a good one, it ate a little dry for my liking, but the flavor was all brownie, super chocolatey. I'm not vegan, but based on the items that I had, I would give anything these fine folks make a try and I'm willing to bet that I would not be disappointed. I wish that I didn't live 300+ miles away.

We just arrived in New Orleans and this place was on my list. We just finished a lunch of a sausage biscuit, a muffanada, and cheese grits. Additionally, I had a dirty iced chai (spicy and delicious!) . The biscuits and grits were out of this world, and my husband, who is a meat eater ate every come of muffanada. Best vegan lunch we have ever had. Everything was just delicious! We will definitely be back !

Breads on oak is literally the best bakery in town. Everything is so tasty but manages to stay vegan. For non-vegans, you WILL be impressed! I recommend the pumpkin cheddar biscuit, delicious.

We ended up at Breads on Oak after coming into town early to visit my daughter. I was a little unsure because it was a vegan bakery, but I did try the chocolate chip walnut cookies. They were amazing! I make it a point now to visit Breads on Oak every time I’m visiting my daughter in New Orleans.

I am so glad I decided to stop by Breads on Oak! It is the coziest little place and I can’t wait to study there once the semester begins. I loved eating with the cats in the courtyard. I ordered a London Fog, which was DELICIOUS, and a blueberry biscuit. I will definitely be back.

I absolutely LOVE this bakery. I'm not vegan but I'm definitely hooked. My favorites are the brioche donuts, especially the lemon curd and Boston creme. Best donuts I've ever had anywhere! My coworker loves the cinnamon roll with raisins. We have also tried the avocado toast scramble and it was delicious. We plan to work our way through the menu each trip.

I usually make lunch at home, but I turn to Breads on Oak when I need a treat. I’m not vegan or even vegetarian, but I love their sandwiches (a recent special was sooooo delicious) and feel good for eating them. I also appreciate the level of customer service provided by staff.

The white lady with the ponytail needs some work on her customer service. I know I’m black and beautiful and that intimidates others but I don’t deserve to be treated like I don’t exist. She had no problem smiling and greeting all the other white that walked in but me she couldn’t look in the eye. I am so heart broken because I really enjoyed this place.

We were looking for breakfast place and did not notice that this spot is vegetarian when we got there. When I saw the menu I was kind of disappointed, but when I tried their food, ohh god, this is the best bread I had in years. Food, service, everything, so even if you are afraid of places without meat like me, don't be, because they do have some delicious stuff everyone would like.

Best bread! Ordered the ham and tofu scramble biscuit and home fries. It was delicious, just too much scramble for the biscuit. Service was wonderful.

Absolutely charming bakery with various delicious options - and all vegan! I visited a few days before Mardi Gras to get my hands on some vegan King Cake... and to my surprise, I was spoiled for choice on different flavours! The cream cheese and pecan praline king cakes were amazing! I also grabbed the pumpkin cheddar biscuit which contains sausage, tofu scramble and greens. A super tasty bunch!

The food was good, especially the breads and biscuits. Their vegan sausage had a good flavor; there was a hint of spice but not really noticeable to those sensitive to spice. Their chai tea was flavorful. We had their pastries but didn't take any photos of them. When you have children, they don't allow time for photos of pastries even when you tell them it's for a review. 🤣😂 The peanut butter blondie was soft and moist. The oatmeal raisin cookie was hard. The rumbles were our children's favorite. The place was busy with folks, but the energy was positive and would frequent this place again.

The food was so good, I was looking at Zillow listings for apartments before I drove off. That's not even an exaggeration. This is hands down the best bakery I've ever been to plant-based or not. I cannot recommend them enough. Truly incredible food!

I bought the Bavarian king cake for some friends visiting town. I’m not really a big fan of king cake, but this one may make me change my mind. So good.

This is my favorite vegan place anywhere. I would go here every day if I lived here. The fries and the biscuit tower were phenomenal. Bread is superb. I don’t even like cinnamon rolls but the one with almond cream and raisins is so delicious. Tried the muffanada as well, which I thought was good, but not as good as some other items.

Get the vegan pumpkin biscuit - you won’t regret it!

Stellar little bakery with tons of great vegan breakfast options. Cozy indoor and outdoor seating in the back. The "donut" doesn't really look like a donut (where's the hole?), but they're some of the best donuts I've ever had. The king cake is unlike any king cake I've ever had but it's absurdly good. I went multiple times on my short trip in town and despite trying a bunch of different things on the menu I was never disappointed. If I'm ever back in the area I'll be sure to stop in here. (I also visited the downtown location, but preferred this location)

Severely disappointed. I used to love Breads On Oak and would go all the time. I used Uber Eats a lot to order food from here as well. But now every time I order Uber Eats I get food that is so burned its inedible and I can't call them to complain and ask for a new order because no one actually answers the phone. I also used to love the brioche donut but they changed the chocolate on it and I'm not sure why because now the chocolate they use is not good. Was disappointed with the changes in the king cakes last year as well. Just disappointed all around because I used to love them and have nothing but good experiences but not anymore.

They’re not considerate about allergies - I communicated about my soy allergies and they gave me a list of “soy free items”…. Come to find out that they cook everything in soybean oil and vegetable oil…..

This is honestly a bit of a hidden gem. The bread is absolutely fantastic, which is what I was looking for in the first place, but it's hard to find vegetarian and vegan food sometimes and theirs is excellent. It was nice to go somewhere for breakfast my friend, who is allergic to eggs, has any real options. I'm someone who will cheerfully eat anything, but my vegetable sandwich was legitimately delicious, and a fresh diversion from the heavier food that I have been having in the city. Their tofu scramble with mushrooms was also excellent , and we both left pleasantly full, London Fog lattes in hand. The scones are a bit dense, but quite tasty- especially if you take them home, toast them, put butter on them. But don't tell them I said to.

I was originally introduced to this place by a friend who shared a donut with me from there. I must say the donut was good and so I decided to try it in person. The space has a very New Orleans feel and the location on Oak is great and the seating is perfect. I was not impressed at all with the menu beyond the donuts. I realize it’s a vegan bakery so finding something to eat with any real protein is tough. I went with a cinnamon roll which is more like a loaf of bread with a cinnamon sugar spread on it. It’s a great spot if you’re into oddly oriented vegan food and balls of dough covering in sugar confectionery otherwise I’d try somewhere else. Also they don’t take cash.

Delicious vegan sandwiches and pastries. I love the cheddar and tofu biscuit. A bit expensive but I eat here at least twice a month. Was one of leash dog that made me worried for my SD. Otherwise, no complaints.

The vegan chocolate ganache cake was a big hit! The cookies we bought were the best I ever tasted! The sourdough bread was lacking the sour taste, but it was still fresh!

I stopped in on Sunday, 9/17/23 to pick up a couple of pastries. I handed the clerk a $20 bill as my total came to $9 and some change. She asked if I had a card because they didn't have a cash register. When I said NO, she proceeded to dig my change from a glass jar sitting on the counter. It was an awkward feeling. It would be nice if this place would post a notice at the entrance that they are a card only business.

Favorite French vegan bakery! Their chef learned to bake in France and you can taste it! SO GOOD!

Unique bakery on Oak Street, with actually delicious vegan foods and baked goods, which if experience tells us anything, is quite an impressive feat. The interior space is a little tiny in the front, but there is a little door which leads to either a lovely quaint side patio, or another door leads to a spacious comfortable drawing room with tables and couches and is frankly charming. Of course there is seating out front. Friendly staff, though sometimes the music is annoying. Try the all veggie sandwich: it's delicious!

Decided to stop in to give this spot a try. I was interested in the cinnamon bun, so I first asked the young man at the counter if it had nuts, as I have a severe nut allergy. He said no, but I got a weird feeling, so I asked him again if there were nuts IN the bread, flower, etc. He said something to the effect of "oh yeah, it's made with almond milk, but it doesn't have nuts in it". To the establishment... please take people's allergies seriously. Had I not asked again, you would have been responsible for a BIG hospital bill. I ended up leaving, not confident that I would be safe eating here. It's really nice that there is a joint in town that caters to vegan folks, but food allergies are serious business too. Please take better care or you are going to get someone killed. At least post a warning that you do not cater to people with allergies.

I think about this place like 5 times a week. We went on a NOLA vacation from Florida and this was honestly the highlight. Being conveniently close to our AirBnb, we actually went every morning for 4 days, the duration of our trip. Many cafe au lait and hot chocolates were consumed. The baguette was top notch and we consumed at least 7 pastries. I highly recommend. The warm atmosphere and outdoor area with the cat is very cool too. Delicious! First of all, it’s hard to find plant-based food; second, finding plant-based food that is actually tasty and not greasy. Breads on Oak knocks it out of the park. The Boston crème filled brioche bun is so good. I’ve had several breakfast sandwiches which were also extremely good. This place and one other make my visit to NOLA!

Amazing vegan muffuletta. I’m vegetarian and was impressed - a carnivore said it tasted authentic. There’s olive salad, 2 layers of fake meat (mild and not smoky), vegan cheese (some of the best i’ve had). Bread was great. So so tasty and half kept about 8 hrs without getting soggy. Highly recommend.

Had an awesome brunch here. A little expensive. Expect to spent 15$ a person here. I tried the barvarian and almond cream king cake. Both were pretty good. Would return.

I had the best vegan sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit here! I know every vegan recipe online is like “you won’t miss the meat” and it’s like ok yeah sure, but in this case I really think it’s true! I swear on my honor as an occasional omnivore. Also, the chai latte was pretty darn good too. Yes it’s a little on the pricier side but they don’t skimp on quality and the staff is friendly. Counter service folks deserve tips too!

The praline stuffed brioche is out of this world. The lunch is really good too, the muffeletta is very good as were the burgers. I'd drive the 9 hour trip back just for those brioche buns🤤 make sure to get there early if you want one because they sell fast

Yummy. The Vegan Pumpkin Cheddar egg biscuit was delicious with just a kick of heat. The biscuit, although a bit dry, was still worth it. My husband enjoyed his “ham” on toast. I make it a point to come here every time I’m in NOLA. I’m allergic to both eggs & animal dairy products so it’s one a the few times I can safely have breakfast in a restaurant.

Everything I tried has been delicious. The pumpkin biscuit, the buttermilk biscuit with chickpea sausage was also simple but great - didn't feel dry cuz no other ingredients as I expected . I also tried the stevia cookie and it was great ! The multi grain bread was simply outstanding!

Y'all, I straight up love this place. You don't need to be a vegan to enjoy your time at Breads on Oak. I'm a pescatarian, and their vegan muffuletta is 🔥. Also, it's fall now and their treats just make me want to dance. Prices are reasonable, and the workers there are kind and willing to answer any questions. I love chatting with them when I can. If you're looking for savory, I recommend the vegan muffuletta (as mentioned), or their burger or patty melt. For sweet, I love their double chocolate cookies and their eclairs! You can't really go wrong with whatever you get though.

They don’t accept money at this place (I wonder how one is supposed to purchase anything here). Some staff are decent, some are really rude.
