One of my favorite Italian restaraunts in the area. Great service and food.

The whole evening was extraordinary.

Not very good. I would say fair. When we read the reviews they spoke about first generation Italians. They said the chef came out to talk to you at the tables. (Like the owner does in Italy in most restaurants) This restaurant was being run by young kids. Our waiter (although nice) couldn’t recommend a bottle of wine bc he was under 21. The bartender - as we overheard her talking - was under 21. And the 2 kids in the kitchen both were under 25. Or at least they looked it. The food was ok. Pricey for the taste. They are only open 4-8. So I’m sure you don’t have the best chefs in town preparing the food. Not very crowded for a Friday night. Somewhat disappointed and won’t go back.

We were so LOOKING forward for our first experience here. We'd heard so much, that we decided THIS was the place for our 50th anniversary and my birthday. We got seated. Then we waited quite a bit before our server came over. She took our drink orders. Our water took more than a few minutes and then hubby's beer came right out after our water. Heather told us the special and it sounded SO good, but didn't share with us the price. Lesson learned. Anyway, the ravioli stuffed with spinach was to die for!! Half way through our meal I finally got my glass of wine; I had tried to get her attention many times, but as she later admitted, she was distracted. Yep, talking to everyone else and was Heather was SO very inattentive to us. The dinner was the best Italian that we'd both had in YEARS!! Our server, Heather, not being attentive pretty much ruined our lovely celebration.

I had the pollo piccata to go. the bag was very light!! I was disappointed in the portion size. not enough food for $25 it tasted ok just ok. I was hungry again in an hour.

Amazing food, dog friendly, atmosphere excellent. Chef was very pleasant and polite will definitely come back again with friends.

Often eat here as we are local. Have given it 4 stars previously . Our favorite entree, and a signature dish, Sacchettini, no longer has lobster in recipe. Disappointed in the change. Please bring back the flavor with the lobster! The outside dining area could use a bit updating, we like sitting outdoors.

This place was recommended by a local and the recommendation was spot on. We went with another couple and had two appetizers and four dinners. The Sacchetti Pasta, which is their signature dish, was amazing. Dinner was topped off by a selection of homemade desserts. Small but quaint restaurant that is definitely worth trying if in Mt. Dora.

Don't let the rather unspectacular look of the menu and the outside of the bldg. turn you off. Here is a magnificent cafe with a truly gifted chef, capable and helpful wait staff, recorded piano music in the vein of Windham Hill, and a bit of magic in the air. The menu is rather limited but full of unforgettable choices. The House salad features a variety of fresh spring greens and the Caesar dressing is authentic. The Sacchettini Pasta is nestled in a creamy wine sauce, punctuated by a slight yet perfect degree of sweetness that blends with the shrimp, attaining without artifice optimal sophistication. It exemplifies simply crafted richness as does all great Italian cuisine. The Rigatoni Funghi Salsiccia E Tartufo is a unique, sublime dish well suited for truffle oil aficionados. Whether you're strolling through Greenwich Village, searching the back alleys of San Francisco, or following your nose around New Orleans, you suddenly encounter a splendid dining establishment with food worthy of praise, prompting you to tell everyone you know. This is such a place.

It was so delicious we went two days in a row on our weekend away in Mount Dora! Delicious & fresh. Gianni and staff were so friendly and welcoming!

Attentive service and delicious dinner entrees. We returned the next day for lunch! The atmosphere is quaint and intimate.

Food was exquisite! Atmosphere/ ambiance was warming. Hubby and I had the funghi with sausage and the signature dish that my husband fell in love with! Clams appetizer was delicate, light and fun to dip your bread in! Wine was described well. Although we were served by a brand new waiter, Trey's first table, he did well! Checking in with regard with our requests without hesitation and a genuine pleasure. Gianni the owner came and discussed the delicate pistachio cheesecake with us and allowed my husband to taste a sample of his marinara ! Overall a top restaurant!! Food was fresh, homemade, not like other places!!

I live in Mount Dora, and I don’t know why I waited so long to try this restaurant. The food is excellent, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. Since first trying it, I’ve been back twice with family members, and everyone enjoyed their food. There is a small outdoor dining area that is pet friendly.

RUN AWAY!! . Visit today and stop here because of the 4.6 reviews… BIG MISTAKE. They brought out bread that was boring. The food was awful and the service worst. Ordered Carpaccio that look like leftovers.. Ordered the carbonara with sausage, it was the worst carbonara ever. No flavor at all. A few slices of sausage on it. The pancetta was almost non existent and the presentation was horrible. We also order Penne Vodka that was cold and tasteless plus got charge $7 for 4 shrimps… The waitress ask us how was the food and we honestly mentioned our dislike and from that moment on she was rude and sarcastic with us! She never apologized for the experience or offered us a solution to the problem (even though we didn’t want anything because what was the point) Don’t waste your time or money going here. We went today at around 5:30pm and the place was empty. We were seated outside because inside was reserved. Left at before 7 pm, the place was still empty except for one table.

Worst food and attention ever. We paid so expensive for the worst italian food. The service was horrible, the woman got upset when she asked what you think of everything and I honestly answered that the pasta was very bad and the salmon carpaccio looked like leftovers. Don't waste your money and time coming to this place. They should change the chef and the woman who serves, the tall chubby woman is sarcastic and rude, very bad treatment and very bad food. $150 thrown in the trash. They didn't even offer to change the dishes and they charged that amount for something we couldn't eat. It is not recommended!

IF I HAD AN ADDITIONAL HAND, I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE THREE THUMBS UP! Gianni, The owner, warmly greeted us at the front door. Our waitress Heather was super friendly and extremely attentive. Like all other elements of our dining experience she was awesome. The food was incredible! I highly recommend the carbonara. It was quite impressive how Gianni visited our table multiple times to assure that our experience was perfect. If you are unable to dine here, I am sorry that you have missed out.

Our party of four had high hopes for dinner, but we left disappointed. The service was “strained”—and by that I mean the apologies to us for the infrequent and at times lengthy intervals between visits should not have been “I’ve been dealing with something downstairs.” That’s not what we come to hear when trying to enjoy an evening out. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that at Beef O’Brady’s, but not here. As for the food…we all agreed there seemed to be a shortage of olive oil where we normally would enjoy it. The sliced bread served before dinner was warm and tasty, but so lightly brushed with olive oil one had to wonder if it was only imagined. A house salad was quite heavy on vinegar and light on oil—again, how does a salad get that way? The bruschetta, too, was simply not memorable because the tomatoes were so “separate” from the bread—untied by the lack of olive oil. It sounds petty to say this, but if you expect good Italian food, this is a real shortcoming. Even the sauce on my Osso Bucco—a delicious piece of tender pork shank—was quite plain, and I tried hard to extract some subtle flavor, but sadly it was as uninspired a the overly cooked spaghetti that accompanied it. The positives: the “special” of portobello-stuffed ravioli with shrimp in a wine reduction sauce was flavorful and the shrimp were ocean-delicious. The cannoli trio for dessert were perfect, although we had thought they would be a trio of different flavored cannolis. Overall, if someone told me the delivery of olive oil never came that day, I’d give Cafe Gianni another try, but for the price, I certainly expected better.

Chef Gianni and his crew are fantastic. You can tell that he is passionate about what he does. The food is always excellent and the service is great.

We have wanted to visit this restaurant for several months. Open air dining was a plus and it’s pet friendly. Mostly seafood or items fried in the same oil as seafood and limited for me. I had a pasta with a white wine sauce, my wife had a pasta with a traditional sauce. Nothing to go back for. Bill for lunch totaled $127.04 plus a tip. Wish I could be more specific on individual items but all we were presented with was a bill to sign. One and done

Gianni is a Master chef who's love for his craft is well reflected in his food. His place is a true culinary gem.

I can't say enough about this place! The service is always so sincerely personal. Chef Gianni himself often comes around to our table to ask how we are enjoying our evening. The dishes are mouth-watering. I highly recommend the secchettini pasta if you want a combination of the slighty sweet and savory. My other recommendation is the pasta al salmon. It's my favorite. The menu is fine-tuned so there is nothing in the selection that is just filler. It's all top-tier. For dessert, the tiramisu is a family recipe that always tastes homemade and not overwhelming. It's a perfect ending,even if you are unsure about eating another bite.

Wonderful intimate spot! I brought my wife, who is a vegetarian, and the chef's accommodations were amazing. He personally came to our table to ensure service and food were excellent. Food was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We highly recommend 👌

Chef Gianni has created a superbly original and delightful restaurant in little (and busy) Mount Dora, Florida. There is a happy and friendly atmosphere here, and the Chef will most likely great you at the door, or during your meal. The waiters are professional and also helpful. The menu is creative, and the recipes are original and masterful. It would be an under-statement to say only that the food is delicious. It is refined and satisfying in a sophisticated way. For Valentine's Day, Chef Gianni created a special menu, and the sauces must have been simmering for hours. But that is typical here. With each meal over the last several years, we have felt that the food was prepared especially and uniquely for us. We will make a point of dining here each time that we visit the area.

We looked at the menu and reviews and arrived at the restaurant at 6:20pm. Hours on the website and on the door said they were open until 8pm. I opened the door and asked staff and they said they were closed. Probably will not return. Very disappointed!

Absolutely amazing! If you’re in Mount Dora, you have to stop and grab a bite. My family and I walked up without a reservation, and the owner (Gianni) kindly said “One moment, I can get something ready for you.” In a matter of minutes, a table was made ready and we enjoyed our dinner! The friendly atmosphere at this restaurant is unmatched. 10/10 will come back!

Absolutely wonderful. We were at the Art Festival and everything was so crowded. One woman was extremely rude at having to wait, but the chef was so professional doing everything he could to accommodate such a crazy amount of people. Well done!

The menu looked good and the reviews were positive so we made a dinner reservation on a Thursday evening. Weekends are definitely busier and we were happy to have enjoyed it during a quieter evening. Our reservation was taken in a friendly tone, and when we arrived we were seated promptly in the first floor dining room. Our server arrived immediately and our bruschetta and wine came quickly. The special that night sounded yummy, so my beau ordered that (mushroom stuffed ravioli with shrimp) and I had the the sacchettini. Both entrees were EXCELLENT - sadly the bruschetta was not - tasteless tomatoes. We shared the tiramisu which was light and delicious. The restaurant has seating on the street side patio during warmer weather, and the upstairs works for larger groups. We were very pleased with our meal and the overall experience. Having tried four other nightly recommended restaurants in Mount Dora, Gianni’s was definitely one of the two best we experienced.

Fantastic dishes straight from Italy, origin of Chef Gianni who also owns the restaurant. The service is excellent, My fav dish is Spaghetti Ai Fruitti di Mare.....an amazing dish!! Shrimp, mussels, clams in a light seafood broth. Italian Cheesecake made with mascarpone is also money! Tomato bisque soup --Wow! Be sure to make reservations if you plan to go on the weekend. Very popular.

The food and service were amazing! The mushroom crustini was so yummy for the appetizer. We also got the tomato basil soup and linguine with clams. OMG!!! YUM! They had a nice wine selection. Had a wonderful dinner with my family on December 30 @ 6pm. We only waited 15 mins for a table. The chef greeted us and also came over to say goodbye and thank you for dining. We had mushroom crostini, clam, garlic and white wine pasta and tiramasu. Will stop in again on our next trip to Mount Dora. Every thing was delicious and the service was terrific

Terrible terrible. The restaurants specialty was the little purse pasta white sauce and shrimp. The shrimp were totally over cooked and rubbery. The sauce was thin as milk and it was tasteless. I m sorry , you are an Italian and the food was that bad. So disappointing. My husband had pesto linguini and it was tasteless. No salt no flavor. My daughter in laws penne was mush. Way overcooked. Never again

Being from Boston, this place felt like the North End. The food was amazing (dinner bread was fresh and warm) Christina, our waitress made dinner suggestions and they were perfect (the crab ravioli in wine sauce… simply a delight to the taste buds) We now live in Jacksonville, and will drive down on occasion to experience this place! The chef even came out mid-meal to check on us! In love with this place!

I was excited for some good Italian food for my birthday. The food was good. Squid ink pasta was a black sauce not infused into the pasta itself, so that to me was not appealing, but my husband liked it. My pasta carbonara was good. I would have liked it if it was creamier. Salmon appetizer was okay. The cannoli's were delicious. The service was great.

My husband and I dined at Cafe Gianni this week and thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. We were greeted promptly and given a wonderful table upstairs. Our waiter as so congenial. We loved the eggplant rollatini appetizer. My husband, who is a fabulous Italian cook, actually said that the sauce was better than his own. We then had two pasta entrees, the signature dish of sacchetini, and the penne with mushrooms. Both were so delicious. We will definitely go back during our next visit to Mount Dora. If you enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, this restaurant is a must.

This was a great find, and we highly recommend Cafe Gianni for excellent Italian food. I had the chef's special Saccettini Pasta that surpassed all expectations. My wife had the Pollo Piccata, and it was very good. Side note: the restaurant takes reservations, and it is highly recommended you do so if you plan on eating before 7 pm.

Cute little gem in the heart of Mount Dora. Everything about this place is five stars, from the food to the service and the quaint, cozy atmosphere. Our night started with the signature bruschetta, followed by Rigatoni Bolognese with sausage and Pasta Vodka with chicken for the main course. We split a piece of the chocolate mousse cake to wrap up the night, everything was delicious!!! We went for the first time tonight, but it certainly will not be our last!

This was our first time at Cafe Gianni. What a wonderful surprise. The whole experience was very reminiscent of our time in Tuscany. The menu is small but well done. Salads were lovely the special tonight was butternut ravioli. In a butter sauce. The flavor was absolutely delicious.Beautiful texture and nice spicy taste of butternut and cinnamon. I would highly recommend this dish. My husband ordered off the menu with a shrimp and mushroom dish over a pasta with a mushroom cream sauce. This too was a beautiful dish. Both dishes were lightly seasoned with fresh herbs and spices. Simply beautiful. We did stay for dessert.The traditional tiramisu was light as air and evidently a family recipe. My husband that doesn’t like coffee loved this dish as did I. Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked like a piece of art. The chef and staff were very pleasant and shared information with us. It is a small restaurant and during holidays and on weekends reservations are recommended.

Don't miss out on this authentic Italian cuisine. It was cool night so we sat outside. Couldn't have been more perfect. I had the signature dish. Being Italian I will say THE BEST dish I ever had at a restaurant. My boyfriend had the veal...another winner. I even saw Gianni deliver some plates himself!

Probably the best Italian food in central Florida, Chef Gianni creates meals that are like no other. You will want to savor every bite, so delicious, so creative, so authentic Italian! The service is always top notch, the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. I will continue to go to Gianni's until I try everything on the menu, then I will start over!

Limited menu because of a craft fair. Dried, overcooked shrimp, tasteless pasta and the waiter never brought the wine we ordered. Save you money and go somewhere else.

I visited mount dora in February 2023 and had dinner at Gianni. The food was absolutely fresh and tasty but I must give 6 stars to our server George . From the moment of our arrival to the moment we left he was absolutely helpful and professional. He knew so much of that menu that he picked the best dish of the night for us and it was again delightful. With all of his acknowledgment we thought he was the owner. I am returning for the thanksgiving weekend and hope to eat there again and see George if not waiting tables hopefully as a manager . Our tour boat guide recommended Cafe Gianni and we were blown away!!! The food is magnificent. Met the owner, Gianni, and such a pleasant gentleman who definitely knows his way around a kitchen. The Fra-diavlo was to die for, linguine bolagnese was superb and the house special, Spaghetinni amazing. Highly recommend your visit to Mt. Dora include a meal at Gianni's Cafe.

We have had the pleasure of dinning at Cafe Gianni numerous times. Each and every time the food, service and ambiance have been consistently 5 Star worthy. Chief Gianni takes time to ensure each dish is the highest quality of Italian cuisine. This visit we were served Rigatoni Bolognese, Vitello Marsala and Creamy Smoked Salmon Pasta. All outstanding. Gianni has an extensive wine selection to perfectly pair with each menu item. Service is excellent, attentive, knowledgeable and delightful. The Chief will always make the rounds to visit each guest for their thoughts. We highly recommend Cafe Gianni as one of the very top restaurants in Mound Dora!

A few friends and I were in Mt Dora and decided to go to this Restaurant. Of all the choices we could have made this was the worst. Menu was minimal and after being seated and looking at the menu, we should have left. Portions of food were very small and pricey. One of us had to send back the pasta Faggioli as it was tasteless and made with penne pasta, not small pasta. All in all a very poor experience and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went here to celebrate a birthday. Chose this restaurant because of the TripAdvisor reviews. I wish I would have only listened to the negative reviews & not gone. We were seated upstairs, waited to be welcomed & when we were it wasn't friendly. I am not quite sure why our waitress was annoyed but she was sadly. We all walked into the restaurant in a good mood & all left saying we will not be back. One meal was sent back & comp'd so that person didn't eat. All of the other meals were good but nothing to rave about. Be aware they charge more for angel hair if requested. We are a group that loves bruschetta, so we ordered 3 servings & we were sadly disappointed. It was soft bread with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese/basil so much of that went to waste. Our waitress never asked if we liked any of our food, just served it, & walked away. I am not sure since we are a large group & gratuity was to be automatically added that she felt she didn't need to be pleasant. It was awkward & I truly hope she is ok, who knows maybe something happened to her earlier? Since we were celebrating a birthday, we asked for a slice of something, didn't matter what it was, just so we could sing & celebrate. A small slice of dessert was brought over, no candle or attempt to sing from the waitress so we started our birthday song & clapped as the waitress was already down the stairs. The fee for the cake was $10, which I was surprised since we were spending close to $550 as a Group I would "think" it would be free? Sadly, we can't get that night back & sadly we were all disappointed with this dining experience.

Would give it -4 stars if I could. The people there were not interested in sitting up (party of 10), which seems discriminatory (maybe they have something against hispanics or its just their italian attitude). There was another party already sitting, and they left cursing out the staff because of their attitude. We went over to Pisces Rising and they treated us with good service.

We enjoyed the best meal we have had all year! The hand made tortellini which included small pieces of pear inside were uniquely delicious. Our waitress (Shauna, I think), was very knowledgable on both the menu items and the appropriate wines to pair with them....

The food and service were awesome. I highly recommend Cafe Gianni. The chef came out to the table to check on us. He's very engaging. We will be back for sure.

Chef Gianni does almost all of his own cooking and we’ve never had a bad meal yet. My favorite is the Cobia Piccata!

I love the homemade food and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely be going back.

If you're looking for comfort food with an Italian flair as you would find in a five-star restaurant the wait staff is efficient the chef and kitchen staff extremely capable... We were visiting Mount Dora location, and we’re looking for a really nice place to eat. I ordered the linguine carbonara, and my husband had the pollo picatta. We also order bruschetta as an appetizer. We found this restaurant on a website for dog friendly restaurants in the area. We were seated right away outside with our to Puppies and they brought water for them as well. tiramisu was our dessert of choice. Everything was excellent. We will definitely be back when we are in the area. Thank you for accommodating small dogs on your outside seating area.

My family & I have visited this restaurant twice, the food is beyond excellent! On the first visit, Chef Gianni even came over to introduce himself. Best Italian cuisine in Mt. Dora by far. Will continue to frequent this establishment.

The food in this place is very good authentic Tuscan Italian food, I highly recommend this place, very fresh bruschetta. Service is awesome, owner/chef took time to come out and meet the people in the restaurant

Charming location the wine and food were delicious. I ordered the signature dish shrimp with the purse pasta filled with cheese, taste amazing! Highly recommend this place. Our server was Chris he was so attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Will definitely return.
