My mother and I are here recently and the food was delicious. We ordered one of the quiches and the croissant French toast. The service was very friendly and accommodating. We definitely plan to return!

Went to Cafe Monet last night with nine friends, food was fresh and delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was fun. I will return and highly recommend!

We recently had an amazing dining experience at Café Monet in Millburn, NJ. The restaurant offers delicious French cuisine. We started with the Red Onion Tarte Tatin with Goat Cheese and the Wild Mushroom Strudel, both of which were bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. For the main course, we ordered the Rabbit and Steak, and both were cooked to perfection. The dessert, Apple Tarte Tatin, was a classic and delicious. The restaurant's design is captivating, with numerous paintings adorning the walls, adding to the overall dining experience. Overall, Café Monet is highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy authentic French cuisine in a unique and charming setting in Millburn, NJ. We will definitely be returning when we're back in the area.

It's a cute and comfortable place for gathering or dating. I enjoyed the delicious french soup, entrees, dessert, coffee, and the vibes there. I definitely recommend you to go.

First of all let me say that I’ve never been to a true French restaurant in my life. It was a fortuitous impromptu dinner that brought me here. It was a revelation to dine here. The main reason is that all patrons and servers shared and understood that a Saturday night repast had no business being harried. Nor did it need to be unreasonable in price. I enjoyed a fantastic Hanger Steak 🥩 with frittes 🍟 and fresh young salad 🥗 leaves. The whole plate was abundantly flavored and proportionately just. The owner and chef hand-delivered all his creations. At first, I didn’t realize this because of his humility… nice touch and a great look. Anyway, enjoy this gem 💎 if you wish to tarry a while and enjoy your company and the culinary stylings. We had an extremely poor experience at this restaurant. The restaurant manager / maitre d (man with white hair) was extremely rude and threatening despite obvious errors and misses on the restaurants part, including their server taking away our bottle of wine without notice, multiple asks for basic service requirements (eg an ice bucket, salt and pepper). To top it off the service staff and the manager in particular were completely unapologetic and had zero interest in any service recovery. This comment is in-line with other reviews. The food can be described as overpriced roadside fare that lacks finesse. If you want to eat overpriced food in a threatening environment, go here. I hope this restaurant is not around in a year.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Cafe Monet. Cafe Monet is a cozy, warm BYOB French cafe in Millburn New Jersey. We began our dinner by sharing appetizers of mussels and a mushroom strudel. The mussels were steamed in pernod, mint and tomatoes. The broth was delicious. The strudel was light and flaky with sauteed mushrooms with smoked brie on top. Entrees were the steak frites and the crispy duck breast. The steak was cooked perfectly and the duck crispy and juicy. Both were very good. We shared a warm chocolate torte for dessert. The only negatives were the frites did not come with any dipping sauce. We asked for some and it was not that good. We were brought the wrong dessert, and when we alerted our server, the torte was brought but some of the interior was cold. Service was a bit slow and not as attentive as it should have been. Overall, dinner was good.

For an asian bakery, the portions are huge and matches the price of each pastry. The pastries were delicious: my favourites were the ones with the hot dogs. The latte is also pretty good- the beans are sweet enough that I felt it didn't need extra sugar.

I'm bummed I waited 3 years to try this place. It has a wonderful french bistro ambiance that you just don't find that much anymore with your standard french comfort fare. I'll be back soon.

The food is very expensive for what they serve. The atmosphere felt like everything was rushed and not a calm place to eat and relax.

1st time here, and we loved it. The quality was above average, good enough portions, I can eat so good enough means its good enough. The egg, goat cheese, and tomato omelet was so simple and delicious. It's Sunday so I had two dishes. The Frenchtoast made from croissant was so good, that this alone will make me come back, tons of fresh fruit. Daughter had all of her Frenchtoast, and my wife cleaned off the plate and loved her quiche. Don't expect a meat heavy breakfast. I had to ask for a side of Canadian bacon. Received 2 pieces and wasn't impressed with the portions of anything, but it was good enough. 1st bight, and I knew I was going to really enjoy the meal. Great food, simple, delicious, and will be worth coming back for. Hot latte on this cold morning was appreciated as well.

Duck Cassoulet was not what I was expecting though still delicious. Octopus was cooked correctly. Mussels frites was ok. Dessert was my favorite part!

Food was very good, especially the appetizers but the steak for the main was a bit overcooked and dry. Service took a little long especially between the appetizers and the mains.

Went for my birthday. We had eaten here before and it was great. Possibly may be a new owner???? The food was horrible. So sad it was an awesome place. I would like to add why my review was low as it is not fair to just rate something low without an explanation. First my husband's Beef Bourguignon and my Lamb shank were very dry and my husband's mushroom puff's pastry was not fully cooked. Also having takeout is awesome but the individuals picking up the food should not walk through the restaurant. It would be nicer for the customers who are eating if they were to pick up their order at the door. I hope these issues can be resolved so this will once again be one of our favorite places to dine.

We just had our daughter's rehearsal dinner for her wedding at Café Monet. We had the entire restaurant. It could not have been lovelier. The food, the ambience, and the atmosphere were all spectacular. Café Monet gets the highest ratings possible. We've also been there for an intimate dinner for two. So lovely.

I'm rounding up here because it is a very nice place for breakfast with good omelettes, good brunches, and good coffee even if the chicken salad is a bare bowl of lettuce with a tiny piece of chicken and they charge more on weekends and sometimes you get the wrong order

Stumbled upon this place on my off day and went in for a coffee. The people working there were so kind and considerate. The atmosphere was amazing and so was my coffee. And to top it all off, they even gave me a macaron on the house! I’ll definitely be taking my family here sometime!

Charming bistro with good food and pleasant people.

Our favorite restaurant and we go to a lot of restaurants. The french cuisine is simple and perfect. The cooking is top of the line. The atmosphere is welcoming and intimate. The art is interesting. It has a dozen tables with white linens and sparkling glassware. The waitress is quiet and kind in her manner. Wes, the proprietor, is a veteran restauranteur and gives the extra effort necessary to excel. We recommend the daily specials; generally french country cooking, and apple tart for desert.

Had a terrible experience here for mothers day brunch. We sat down at 11:30 for are mothers day brunch reservation and didn't recieve are mains untill 1:15. When we got our food the waiter said oh sorry for the wait like it was no big deal. Three tables walked out because of how slow the service was, the credit card machine was down. I had been to this place before and had good experiences but I am not coming back for a long time and I recommend you to stay away.

Unfortunately I have to second the sentiments of other reviewers on here in that this restaurant completely botched Mother's Day. I don't understand why, because they had a prix fixe menu with only a few options on it (surely a benefit for the restaurant) and there were at least 5 tables completely vacant when we arrived. And yet my mother and I waited more than an hour and didn't so much as see an appetizer. So, as other customers did, we simply got up and left. But not before I at least tried to address the wait staff politely and I didn't so much as get acknowledged or receive an apology. I had never been to this restaurant before but I will surely never be back again. If you don't have enough people working to manage your restaurant, then don't open on a busy holiday.

We have been sitting at our table for an hour and a half and we have not received our food or proper service from our waiters. The ambiance is nice but the service is horrible. Do not recommend.

This is a horrible food. Ambiance is oka, but first they don’t have a lot of thing inside the menu. The steak frites is terrible, the onion tart terrible too… do not recommend this place at all. Waitress was nice, but nothing you can do when the food is that bad… and it takes sooooo long!

The fork was not clean, it had food from the previous person who ate with it. The glass had dirt on it. The appetizer was bad. The food was ok. They took our order but forgot to put it in with the chef, they realized after quite some time and placed our order.

The vibe and the food was a perfect lunch, I felt rejuvenated after being there! The waitress and the chef were friendly, nice, and helpful! I loved every single bites of food, will definitely come back!

We stumbled into this gem while looking for a local place to have brunch. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. From the starting plate with the assorted croissants, to the amazingly tasty assortment of butters, we were pleasantly impressed. I recently held an after wedding brunch for many of my wedding guests who stayed over. I chose Café Monet because I had read some good reviews! However, I would like to sharply differ with anyone that wrote anything positive about this establishment! The owner was unbelievably nasty. He had one waitress and himself for over 40 guests!! Half the guests had finished their meals before the other guests had been served!! The menu was to include an arugula salad with pear, brie, pistachio and chicken. The dish served had no pears, no pistachios and the chicken was overcooked! The entrees were supposed to be accompanied by fruit, cheeses and croissants and rolls! No cheeses at all were offered, and they didn’t even provide whole croissants and rolls! They simply cut up a few and stuck them on a plate. The fruit consisted of about four bite sized pieces of fruit on skewers. Additionally, there was supposed to be a selection of coffee, iced tea, lemonade and non alcoholic Virgin Mary’s. Only coffee and plain tomato juice and water were displayed on the restaurant counter. When I complained, the owner curtly replied that the guests should have asked for them!! I guess he thought they were clairvoyant! And he offered a literal spoonful of the creme brûlée as dessert for each guest. In total, with a forced twenty percent tip plus tax he charged us over $2,000!!!! He completely ruined the end of what should have been a very happy occasion. I feel beyond swindled and betrayed!!!!

Walked in. Asked for a table for two. Whole entire place was empty. Told it was ‘Reservation Only’ Walked by 30 minutes later. Still empty. Seems elitist or unwelcoming to walk in folks. The sign for reservation is also incredibly small. Will not return. The lady who also greeted us wasn’t friendly about it either. Hope your business stays successful and people continue to love it 💜

Cute little cafe with delicious food!! The atmosphere is French inspired and lovely.

Atmosphere: Beautiful paintings, the colors are very warm and the music is perfect: french cafe jazz. The decorations are beautiful. Food: For brunch they start you off with a free appetizer that I forgot to take a picture of. It consisted of an array of french pastries and baked goods with jam, nuts and fruit. The food is very light and filling as opposed to American diners which can be very greasy and heavy. We got eggs benedict and french toast. I get the eggs benedict every time I come, it’s so delicious and comes with an amazing salad. The lattes are also delicious. Everything is so fresh. Service: The servers are all very friendly.

Intimate and decorated setting with welcoming service. BYOB. Everything we ordered was delicious. The starter croissant and fruit plate went above and beyond your typical bread basket. The ox tail was a rich and perfectly portioned. The chicken Caesar salad was very fresh with a generous portion of chicken. The octopus was cooked perfectly. The quiche of the day was creamy with brie and had a beautifully delicate crust. We also ordered blood orange lemonades: tangy and packed with pulp. Our iced macchiato was also lovely.

Delicious brunch, and we had a great birthday party there. The food is fantastic.

The food is beyond amazing here. The curry mussels were tender and the sauce very light and delicious. My husband and 2 friends had eggs Benedict and loved it too. Try it if you are in Millburn.

Pretty good. Felt safe social distance wise and the brunch was really tasty. I had a lamb burger it was absolutely delicious! And my husband had thesteak which was perfectly cooked. The coffee was good and so was the chocolate mousse. I'd definitely go back.

I was for breakfast few times and few for dinner at this place and it's absolutely delicious, no matter what you order, it's amazing... will celebrate my daughter's Birthday there as well, you cannot miss it when in Millburn...

Where we go to celebrate. I worked in France. We honeymooned in the Champagne and Paris. Took the kids to Paris, so yeah, nous aimons la cuisine francaise. This restaurant does not disappoint.

We went for a dinner at Café Monet. The food were delicious and the service was outstanding !! A very pretty and nice waitress named Jenny was very nice and helpful, and she is french !!! We will definitely coming back.

This place is right in town. I pass it all the time. I can't believe it's taken seven years to finally come in and have a meal. We went on a whim tonight. What a great choice. I've been missing out. It's delightful.

We are not ready to go inside yet, so we sat outside with heaters provided by the restaurant should we have needed them. it was a charming place, the food was excellent. We had French onion soup, the special Chestnut Soup, Coq Au vin and the desserts to die for, I couldn't wait for the Chocolate Soufflé's , so I took the Profiteroles covered in warm dark chocolate sauce. My friend can't help himself when Soufflé's is on the menu the Soufflé' with creme anglais was very good, plus its the only place in Millburn, you can get decent French coffee, illy I believe, Great evening not many people we were definitely socially distanced.

Very Disappointing, after spending many dinners here, the quality is just not what it used to be. just very disjointed with Wes now, just no good. waitress want to close the restaurant before 9pm, so if you want a relaxed dinner, this is not the venue for you, try Basillico, or the Italian restaurant up the road, that is so supreme....La Pergola.... so much more better in Millburn....

Nice bohemian French atmosphere and tasty food! (The price was not bohemian) We went for brunch and it was really nice. Service was friendly, but not well organized. Interesting buffet nibbles to go with a good selection of menu items. I had the curry mussels and my wife had an omelette.

Came in for brunch one weekend. This spot is really cute and our server was even French! The menu we were given didn’t match the one online but when I asked about it they were able to make something off the online menu for me anyway which was great. We were also given free french bread and croissants before our meals came out and a small drink they referred to as the house cocktail. It was some kind of fruit juice? Not sure. All super cute though. And the food was tasty as well.

The service was great and the food was wonderful. The place is small and quiet but filled with energy and the warmth of a European cafe.

I’ve only been here once, but I had a delightful meal — cassoulet with duck and Moroccan lamb sausage. It wasn’t a traditional cassoulet — maybe a nouveau cassoulet — with some crunchy vegetables on top for an interesting textural change of pace. I loved it but can’t comment on their other dishes. It’s BYOB, but they have a service that will deliver your choice of wine from a nearby wine shop. Service (from the owner) was pleasant and reasonably attentive.

This place is like stepping into a French cafe. Love it. Food is amazing, service is delightfully French. I would love to keep this place a secret, but that just wouldn't be neighborly. Try the weekend brunches.
