My wife and I were so looking forward to our brunch here, but were extremely disappointed. We started wtih the truffle crab claws, which had a lot of chards of shells clinging to the crab meat. We also had the gnocchi, which the gnocchi were very good but they were swimming in an oily fluid that didnt seem like butter. I had the shrimp and grits, and many of the shrimp were not cleaned of shells and legs, a LOT of grease from the sausage was poured on the grits, and some of the garlic chips were extremely over cooked, black and bitter. My wife had the gulf fish almondine, and although the fish was good, her plate was also swimming in a greasy/oily fluid that was not butter, and frankly rather off putting. The bread we got on the table was excellent, as was the service, but frankly all of the food was terrible.

"A Symphony of Flavors in the French Quarter" Step into Tableau, and you're not just dining - you're embarking on a culinary jazz improvisation. This French Quarter gem hits all the right notes, from appetizers to mains, with the finesse of a seasoned blues musician. Let's start with the baked goat cheese, shall we? Paired with confit tomatoes and multigrain toast points, it's the culinary equivalent of a warm New Orleans welcome - creamy, comforting, and impossible to resist. You'll be tempted to lick the plate clean, but remember, you're in public. Next up, the red bean hummus. Now, I know what you're thinking - "Red beans in hummus? That's as out of place as a tuba in a string quartet!" But trust me, this dish tickles your taste buds in all the right ways. Served with cool cucumber slices, it's a refreshing twist that'll make you question everything you thought you knew about hummus. The truffle crab claws? Oh honey, they're the Louis Armstrong of the menu - bold, unforgettable, and quintessentially New Orleans. Louisiana blue crab takes center stage, backed by a truffle vinaigrette that'll have you snapping your fingers (and your claw crackers) in delight. But the real showstopper? The duck and andouille gumbo. This dish doesn't just sing - it belts out a soulful ballad that'll make you want to get up and dance. It's so flavorful, you might catch yourself trying to scoop up the last drop with your baguette when no one's looking. Our waiter, Jordan, deserves a standing ovation. Attentive, helpful, and probably moonlighting as a mind reader – he anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them. In the end, dining at Tableau is like attending a jazz fest for your taste buds. Each bite is a new riff, a fresh melody in an ever-evolving composition of Creole cuisine. So go ahead, let your palate improvise - at Tableau, every meal is a standing ovation.

Definitely not a fave! The service was impeccable, but the food was not flavorful and required the use of much salt and pepper (which I hate to do)! For starters, we had the chilled crab claws… flavorless… needed garlic, lemon, spices, etc. We also had the crab dip. That was a little better, although the consistency was “different.” The best of the starters was the fried oyster bake(?). It was more flavorful than the others, but still not worth the spend in my opinion. In terms of entrees, I had the chicken dish (one fried; one roasted). The portion was large and the flavor was above avg. Others in my party had a bacon burger (she advised that it was very good… and well worth the cost)… and a bowl of gumbo (he advised that it was “pretty good” and fairly priced). In terms of the cocktails, they were OK… nothing to write home about… tiny glasses, small pours and big prices). All-in-all, not a place I’d return to (one party said he wouldn’t choose it, but he also wouldn’t avoid it if someone else did). Lastly, the final member felt like the burger, although tasty, was not enough to inspire a return trip. There are way better places to eat in NOLA!

Gotta say, lived here since this place has opened but ever since Covid it’s never been the same. Food is more expensive and for New Orleans not on par with other restaurants like it used to be. Used to love coming for brunch. It was just the two couples in there. I only ordered a cheeseburger. Came out cold. Sent it back and it absolutely took forever to come back out. WAY over done and I’ve felt sick ever since. I think it’s time to not come back anymore.

She explained the specials, answered questions about menu items and kept our table at the top of her list all evening. The food was better than expected. We had the blue crab fondue, turtle soup, duck/andouille gumbo, creole seafood pasta and shrimp/crab and grits. Each course was better than the next. Our Son requested that we celebrate his birthday at Tableau. Our table was in the very corner at Charters & St. Peter, looking out on the square; perfect, or so we thought when seated. We started with a round of cocktails, and when the Old Fashioned was placed in front of our Son, he immediately handed it back to the waitress. It arrived with a dead fly garnish, which was not requested. The waitress apologized and went back to the bar for a replacement. When she returned she delivered another "Old Flyshoined" and it wasn't the same drink, this fly was even bigger! (If alone, at point I am leaving) I would expect that a waitress at ANY restaurant, but especially a fine dining establishment, would inspect the second drink. Common Sense or Training: If one had been sent back already for a fly, hair, lipstick smudge etc., please inspect before bringing second to the table. At this point, he decided to forgo a cocktail. Felt would be safer with the wine. For appetizers, we had two orders of gnocchi and mussels, and our table was bombarded with flies, having an aerial dogfight trying to get to our appetizers. Our guest were swinging arms and napkins like at an outdoor seafood boil, and soon a gentleman came over to assist. He opened doors on both sides of our table, chased most of our unwelcomed guest outside as they landed, or flew close to the glass doors. He told us that,. . ." for some reason flies like to hang out in this corner of the restaurant ." I can't begin to explain how disappointed we were. If it would have been a normal get together, I would have asked for a check and left, never to return. The Food & Wine During the rest of the meal, until darkness, we still had aerial visitors. . .but nothing like the 1st course. Restaurant had a good wine selection; prices comparable to other fine dining establishments in the French Quarter. The mussels were very tasty, but overcooked; gnocchi was heavy & doughy, with lots of pecan pieces. There was a lamb special, and three lamb lovers ordered the special. It was so salty that it was sent back. Need i say more? There was an order of Tableau Chicken, not much was consumed. The Waygu Steak was described as, "overcooked & cold". One guest stated, . . ."was expecting a higher quality dish, it was, meh." Dessert By the time we arrived at Dessert, darkness was falling outside, so our aerial visitors were off to visit brighter areas of the restaurant. The Cream brulle was delicious, but what made it so tasty was the way it was served. It was served on a flat dish, so with every spoon the crunchy caramelized top was pronounced & present. The Rasberry sorbet was described as "delicious, homemade & best I've ever had." We have never been so disappointed at any restaurant in our life, let alone a New Orleans fine dining establishment. As a New Orleans native, I expected the food to be of a much higher quality. I do not expect to be fighting flies off my appetizers, or; have cocktails delivered with, "unrequested garnishes"As far as I am concerned, flies and fine dining don't coexist in my universe.

I would have liked to have gotten more lump crab meat in the seafood pasta. I did feel like the pasta absorbed any potential fluid the dish had. That was okay. Our server was Ashley J she was absolutely awesome and did everything she should do. I say this with experience since I have been in the industry for 47 years . We also went to the play during intermission, I wanted a Bloody Mary. The bartender was overwhelmed which I understand everyone went to go get a drink or something. Now the reason why I took away two stars. There was a gentleman who was trying to help her, that was good also but it was obvious he did not know what he was doing in any way shape or form. Your Bloody Mary is pre-mixed he couldn't get the okra or Olive onto the pic, when he finally did he poured the Bloody Mary mix in glass with about an inch from the top and put it on the counter in front of me. No cocktail napkin... I asked if he was through he did not like that question and then I asked him for some ice in my drink. His response was oh I was going to get you ice. He was not, he was through I asked. That upset me I always trained my staff to admit if they made a mistake everyone makes mistakes. You learn every day in this industry. Later I saw him seating people. Maybe he's more equipped to do that but he needs training with that also

Possibly the worst dining experience I've ever had. To begin, the receptionist/hostess put us in the worst table available (even though there were other empty tables) without so much as asking what we wanted or if we were willing to wait on other options. The gumbo was just ok, the famous onion soup was fine, nothing super special. The pasta in the lamb bolognese was undercooked (not al dente, undercooked) and the Wagyu Denver steak was simply uneatable. More than half of it was pure fat, with barely any meat attached; I could barely cut the steak, let alone eat it, so after a few tries I had to return it. I was very disappointed, since the restaurant had been so well recommended by, well, all of the internet. The only highlight was the excellent service of waiter James, who is very attentive and did his absolute best to acommodate us in every way. But given the rest of the experience, I wouldn't come back to this place.

My family went here for dinner on a Friday night. The room we were seated in was beautiful and the food was good but unfortunately it was hard to enjoy it because of one obnoxious employee. Every time he would bring a tray of food up (the trays were located in front of our table) he would yell to the waitresses “hey your food is here” and continue to badger them until they got the food. Then at one point our waitress was talking to us and as she was speaking, the same food runner was hitting her in the back with a plate and calling her name over and over like a little child. My 5 and 7 year old are better behaved than this guy. This was definitely not the experience we were looking for when we booked this restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Tableau. Caleb, our waiter, took very good care of us. He was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and personable. We sat outside on the upstairs balcony and found it to be one of the best views of the city we've ever experienced. The food was very high quality. We will be back!!

No reservation was needed for this Saturday night. The food was delicious and the portion of lamb was great, just like the way they serve wine in glasses. They are definitely not shy about the quantities compared to California.

Our waiter was horrible! The first words out of his mouth were to complain about his job 😑. After that, his interactions with us were fewer and fewer and usually on the rude side. Our food was good (not superb) but being waited by him really ruined the experience.

The food was terrible. Do not order the octopus. The best thing we had was a salad and even that wasn’t that good.

Strong start, underwhelming finish. Service was excellent. Food was not. Foie gras is on the menu, it wasn’t available. Ordered a Waygu steak, poorly cooked, very tough both times. Not the quality you would expect from such an establishment.

Came with group of four people for dinner, had excellent service the entire time. Extremely obnoxious group of tourists from Los Angeles behaved loudly and as if they were on a reality TV show. The restaurant comped some of our drinks, gave us an awesome spot on the patio and removed the obnoxious customers. I will definitely be back.

The gulf fish almondine was amazing. I also liked the crème brûlée. My husband had the bbq shrimp and grits and thought the shrimp tasted funny. Our server wasn’t very attentive, we waited quite awhile after finishing our entrees waiting to place a dessert order even though it wasn’t very busy. It is a cute place to eat at and a convenient location.

So, the food may be beautifully presented and a symphony for the taste buds, but I can’t tell you, because I never got any. I walked in, talked to the hostess, and she told me it was an hour wait for a party of 2. So, I got on the waitlist and we hung out in Jackson Square until it was time. We got seated, looked at the menu, and discussed the dishes that looked good. Then, the waiter came to our table and proceeded to list off menu items they were out of. It was close to half the entrees. And every dish we were interested in. At that point, we left. Now, I get being out of the special. I get an item. Maybe 2. But this was, like, 5. We waited an hour to find this out. Why did the hostess not mention they had such a limited menu when I first got on the waitlist? I highly doubt they ran out of all that stuff in the hour we were waiting. If I had known, I’d have gotten on the waitlist at Muriel’s. And by the time we found out, a lot of restaurants in the Quarter were about to close and were no longer seating people. I recounted our experience to the desk clerk at our hotel, and she told me she had been told about similar experiences a number of times before. Not going back. Guess I will see if I can find us a slice of pizza or hot dog on Bourbon St. since everything else nearby is closed.

TRADITIONAL RESTAURANT IN THE FRENCH QUARTER This popular restaurant just off Jackson Square boasts a courtyard, main dining room, Drawing Room lounge and apparently the “best balcony for dining and drinking” in town. We sat in the main dining room and shared the Maison salad, fried oyster pan roast, shrimp & grits, ending with a classic crème brûlee. A few things went wrong, but overall it was fine.

Food is not good at all: oysters are not tasty and have smell of mud, kids chicken is like plastic, and the creme brûlée has tons of sugar.

Worst food experience on our USA trip. (Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans) When we arrived everything was fine staff friendly and order taken, our drinks arrived soon after. My wife's starter was delicious (French Onion Soup) mine I didn't enjoy but that's just a preference I guess (Gnocchi). My wife was barely halfway through the soup when our mains appeared at the serving table at the pass, the waitress asked if we were ready for them which clearly we were not. The food was then put back on the pass, covered and placed under the warming lamps. This then made my wife and I uncomfortable as there was now time pressure to finish the starter as our mains (Fillet Rossini and Denver Steak) were slowly broiling on the pass, about $100 of food cooked medium and medium rare. When my wife finished the soup the waiting staff wanted to serve the food immediately, when we asked for a 5 / 10 minute break we were told our food was ready and would be deteriorating, we informed our waitress that we were aware of that and that we were concerned that the food had now been waiting for over 10 minutes on the pass. We were made to feel extremely awkward as if our request for a small gap was unreasonable. The manager offered to have the food cooked again but it was clear from the reaction of the Waiting Staff and the Chef on the pass that they did not appreciate our concerns. I told the manager that we would pay for our starters and drinks and leave as our last meal of the trip had been spoiled. The manager offered a free desert and the waiting staff offered to make the wine to go. We paid went to the bar finished our wine and left. The staff were not rude it was just the lack of care when managing the food order and the lack of understanding of our concerns that earns a 1 star review. We had many meals in the USA and there were all pretty good, the service was managed to give reasonable times between courses.

This was mine and my boyfriend’s first meal in New Orleans. Our server (I cannot remember his name) was great and served us on the balcony. He was great and recommended drinks and food. We enjoyed the truffled crab claws (his recommendation) and my boyfriend enjoyed shrimp and grits as his meal And I got the bbq shrimp roll. My boyfriend and I are pescatarian and our server was helping in modifying the dish to accommodate our dietary needs. This was a great first meal in New Orleans!!
