Best apple pie!! There's a reason they have that title. We decided to try something unique and went with the apple mango. Absolutely delicious. Worth a stop if ever in the area. Not to mention the friendly staff and the amazing aroma

Stopped by just to peek at the goodies. We left with mountain ⛰️ high blueberry scones, biscuits for Biscuits and Gravy, that were taller than Mt. Vesuvious and 2 chicken 🐔 pot pies!! Let me tell you that these were AB-SO-LUTELY KILLER!!! The scones were so soft and fresh, the biscuits magnifique and the Chicken Pot Pies were AMAZING!!!! The crust was SOOOOOO flaky and rich! The filling was absolutely 💯 perfect!!! OMG... if you don't stop here... you're being FOOLISH!!!! We came from Yuma and WE WILL BE BACK!!! REPEATEDLY!!!

Best slice of pie you can get in Wynola, and I'd argue for the rest of East County. Never had a bad one, and there's lots of variety from traditional apple crumb and pecan to more adventurous varieties like apple peach, apple boysenberry and rhubarb apple (gotta use that local apple supply!). And the rest of their baked goods are phenomenal too! The breakfast sandwiches are BIG. Go give 'em your love!

Well today we were told about this bakery and we drove thirty minutes to it. Wow! We tried just about everything and let me tell it was amazing. I highly recommend this bakery! It's a family owned business and they food it's amazing. Very nice folks, the service was above and beyond. The brother made this breakfast sandwich on a croissant that was outstanding! Thank you for your hospitality and your attention to detail.

Breakfast sandwich on a biscuit! Soft and buttery. Biscuit won't crumble and fall apart in your hand. Tried a cherry cheese Danish and lemon blueberry muffin. The bakes goods are all delicious as well. Food is delivered to your table after you order. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. Place was fully packed at 10am - it is really that good. Friendly staff and clean happy atmosphere. My daughter and I will be back.

Unparalleled pies...and muffins and everything else here. I always make it a point to stop whenever I'm anywhere near California Mountain Bakery. Their crumb crust is worth the drive!

Hands down the best pie in Julian. We’ve tried the apple, summer berry, apple mango, and apple peach. All delicious. Friendly service and amazing jalapeño cheddar bread too! Much better than Mom’s. Mom’s is a bit too sweet.

Staff very nice and busy. Total wait time about 20 mins.I got a chicken poblano pie. Wished there was more poblano's or more of a spicy taste. I also got a bear claw and brownie for my husb and I ended up eating half the brownie because it was so good! Will definitely go again and try something else.

We bought several things.... but the best thing of all was the BEAR CLAW. they heated it for us, we ate it in the car. It was so good and soft and warm!

Definitely the BEST place to get pie in town!! Their breakfast sandwiches are perfection. I love everything they have to offer and their customer service is amazing. I always recommend this place to anyone visiting.

My fiancé had been saving a pie for me that has been in the freezer for two months. When I came to visit from Washington, we had the pie for dessert and I was hesitant to try some because I don’t normally like pie, but the moment I took a bite of their pie it was so delicious I can’t stop eating it. So my fiancé and I drove 3 hours just to get to their bakery to get five more amazing pies and their service was unforgettable!!!! Thank you.

Forget the pie shops on the main street and get your pies here! We tried Mom’s and thought it was ok. Locals highly recommended this place and we’re so happy we listened to them. Pies and breakfast sandwiches were amazing! Check hours before you visit cause not open everyday.

The best bear claws, so yummy! Get there early, or you might miss out. The staff is always friendly even though they've been up since before the crack of dawn.

Got the chicken pot pie and it was the best I've ever had. Great atmosphere, will definitely be coming back again.

This place has the BEST pies in California! I just wish they were open 7 days a week. Their cookies and sticky buns are amazing too!

The staff was great and gave us great recommendations. They only serve pie around Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we got a few single slices and went over to Hero’s for lunch. The pie slices heated up great in our oven and we’re planning on heading back to take home some whole pies!

Love this country bakery that is everything you want in homemade baked goods! Pies that taste like Grandma’s and fresh out of the oven! Or take home to bake yourself so you fill your home with the same delicious aroma you get when you first walk into California Mountain Bakery! The assortment of amazing breads, cookies and brownies will blow you away! And the Chicken Pot Pies are addictive! Unfortunately they don’t make them during the holidays because they are made from scratch and are time consuming. But they come back after the holidays so don’t miss your chance to try them! I promise they won’t disappoint! The beautiful people who work there are sweet, caring and dedicated to making your trip to Julian memorable and satisfying! I never come to Julian without taking home one of their Apple Pies and Chicken Pot Pies. They were voted best Apple Pie in Southern California and trust me, they got that right! I think their pies & breads are the best in the world!!! ❤️

I bought the Apple crump pie at a grocery store in San Diego and it’s delicious!! Might eat the whole pie to myself and not share with my husband.

I am guilty of a type of snobbery I think many of us locals are. We love Julian for its old timey charm and authentic vintageness, if that’s a word. The building that this bakery sits in is the antithesis of anything cool because it is old: this building is big and new and stucco and ugly - but I will officially never let that keep me from coming here ever, ever again!!! You can smell the goodness for miles, the pastries and pies and biscuits are melt in your mouth, the menu is simple and the service is precious. Sweet, professional and cheerful. AND THAT BATHROOM. Will definitely be back. I don’t even care about where it is anymore.

As a native Californian and born in San Diego county, I am an expert on delicious pie. I would rate the leading pie companies in the Julian area this way: 1) California Mountain Bakery 2) Mom’s Apple Pie 3) Julian Pie Company California Mountain Bakery wins my approval every time, because they are that good. From the crust to the delicious fillings of the varying pies they offer, to the difference pastry’s they bake. Oh but they also bake bread and their olive bread and potato bread is literally to die for. I have never had better potato bread in my life. Perfection. I know people that drive 2 hours or more out of their way passing fine bakery in their own right, just to pick up, bakery goods at a little shop in Wynola just outside Julian. It’s worth it.

Great selection of freshly baked goods. Friendly service. Delicious pies. Prices are a little high but great quality. There is a additional fee for using a credit card. Not happy about that.

BEST PIES IN JULIAN. I was recommended to this place by a Julian local, born and raised. They sell a lot of pies in that city but this place trumps them all. Don't bother going to the "touristy" shops to purchase, just come to this place and save yourself the time.

Tried three different pies. The dilling and bottom crust were good. I'm not a fan of the crumble topping. I liked the pie at Julian pie shop better.

Absolutely love this bakery! Always consistent, everything delicious and super friendly. Best hand pies, sticky buns, brownies and of course Apple Pie. They also have deli sandwiches and some savory items. Go early, they do sell out by closing. Totally worth the drive up the mountain.

They have excellent breakfast sandwiches made with homemade buttermilk biscuits. The pastries are also excellent.

Oh, heck. I haven't even been there yet, but I just bought their blueberry-apple pie at Frasier Farms. All I know is that we now have to consider CM to be part of 'the mountain ' (Wynola and Julian) because it could, very well, be the best pie on it. Fantastic crust and crumb, with apples and blueberries perfectly cooked and seasoned. Doesn't seem as sweet as the other mountain pies as well. After looking at the store pics, I'm so looking forward to spending about six hours there. A follow-up, it's in Wynola, across from the motel, not Santa Ysabel, proper. Now, I'm going to return to my two perfect pies, three perfect scones (who knew), and a loaf of pepperoni bread that I can't wait to try.

Awesome traditional apple pie. The crust was to die for, and the filling was just perfect. And no waiting in line for an hour just to buy a pie. The staff was super friendly as well. This will be our place to get pies from now on when we head to Julian.

Our favorite! We love so many of their pastries, and their flaky pie crust is just delicious! The family who run it are lovely people who care so much about what they make, how they make it, and how they serve you. Though it’s hard to go wrong with pies and sweets in Julian, CA Mountain Bakery is extra special! Some of our favorites are: strawberry rhubarb pie (flaky crust), pecan pie; the brownies!!; the spinach/cheese pastry; biscuits; pot pies; pretty much any fruit turnover; the peach muffins especially (though all the ones we’ve tried are yummy); cinnamon rolls; and the Mexican hot chocolate!

Holy cow, this place has great pie! Their crumb topping is nice and crunchy. I'm not a fan of crumb tops that get all soggy and soft. These do not disappoint! We tried apple crumb and apple mango slices. Both were fantastic. We'll be back to buy a while pie, if we can decide on one flavor.
