Wonderful Summer Camp with caring and friendly counselors. Staff is amazing. Very receptive to individual camper needs.

We recently stayed at Camp Johnsonburg with our family and three small children and had a wonderful experience! The lodges were comfortable and perfect for families, and the camp's natural beauty made our stay truly memorable. We enjoyed the serene environment and the various activities available, which made it a perfect getaway for our family. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a beautiful and familial experience!

Such a beautiful facility. We've been using Johnsonburg for 4 years now for an annual program. I love that their values are in line with our welcoming and accepting Christian beliefs! The lake is wonderful to swim in or kayak. Love seeing wildlife in the woods! The newly built pavilion is great for rainy days to still be in nature, while protected from the rain.

Life changing. Supportive and love for all. No where else I would go with youth and adults. A variety of programming and beautiful hiking and land to explore

I love the inclusion. 🌈 thank u for making the LGBTQ+ feel welcomed and safe. Fun tip for anyone who doesn't like their decor selection, if you look anywhere else, you don't have to look at it!

This camp has been such a safe and accepting space for me and everyone I’ve shared this space with!!! Knowing that they are a camp that loves EVERYONE and allows us to worship a God that loves us all makes me feel comfortable and secure in my identity and beliefs while I’m here. I had such a wonderful time!!

There aren't enough words to accurately describe what a magical place this is and how impactful Camp J'burg has been for all my kids and for myself. When Camp J'burg claims that ALL ARE WELCOME in BOLD on the front page of its website, they really mean it. Camp Johnsonburg has been a spiritually formative and safe space for my kids for the past 14 years. My kids had counselors from all over the world, made life-long friends, and have endless stories and priceless memories to share. My oldest went from a camper in third grade to a counselor and young adult leader. I LOVE that the kids get to unplug for an entire week and just learn how to be kids and play in a beautiful outdoor space without a device in their hands 24/7. Camp Johnsonburg embodies what it means to love like Jesus loves and how to care for all people as Jesus cared for all people. The space has also become a restorative retreat for me over the years at the annual women's retreat. When I walked into the dining hall recently, my breath was taken away by all the flags displayed that represented the countries of origin of all the counselors and staff and the progress flag that embraces all the people that God loves, juxtapositioned with the verses to the hymn, "They Will Know We are Christian by Our Love," engraved on the wooden panels on the wall, in clear sight of all who assemble to eat, play, and fellowship in the dining hall. They love. No matter what. That's how I know they're like Jesus. I'm so grateful for their influence on my children's lives as well as my own. Also, their Tempurpedic mattresses in all the cabins and lodges are more comfortable than my own bed. I always look forward to spending time there! There aren't enough stars here to rate how much I love this place!

What a well rounded and well run center! I have attended retreats at Johnsonburg for adults, stayed in Meadowview Cabin for a personal retreat and sent our kids to summer camp in this beautiful place. The new pavilion is gorgeous! I recommend everything about Johnsonburg.

This place was saddening to say the least. For starters, the price was extremely expensive for only 3 days and 2 nights. The cost of each meal was insane ($15 for breakfast, $17 for lunch and $18 for dinner), especially for the quality of food. Each meal had only one option and they all contained pork which no one in the group ate. There was watery beans and sausage served for lunch. We were so appalled by the food that we had to order outside food for dinner instead of mystery meat they had. Speaking of dining, I was alarmed to see a LGTBQ+ flag in the dining area when this retreat place claims to have Christian values. The rooms itself wasn’t that bad although there were bugs here and there. The worst situation of the entire weekend was when we saw not one but three rats. There was a giant beefy one and its children which were two white mice, came back to haunt us for our last day. Also, we heard a bear. Overall, I am extremely disappointed. We spent over $200 for this and we left with utter disappointment. I hope they take this feedback and do better.

Honestly place and scenery was great but the food was diabolical. Pork and beans with a side of salad was served for $18 buffet for lunch with a group that doesn’t eat pork. There were also large rats in our rooms and we heard bears in the area, which made it hard for us to move around and nobody in our group could sleep. The gymnasium also smelled like the zoo. I am very pleased with the scenery though! (everything else wasn’t satisfactory)

I’ve been going to retreats for well over a decade, and this is by far the worse retreat location I have ever been too. Rats in the homes, horrendous food, you have to pay for every little amenity. Go literally anywhere else.

guys don’t go here this place got lbtq flags and i had a traumatic experience with the rats. it’s even infested with bed bugs but they tried gaslighting us by saying they did a thorough investigation when they didn’t do bleep. i paid 200 bucks for this and had panic attacks bc of them rats. even my auntie heard a bear and had to run like why we gotta run from bears during worship. and let’s not even talk about the food. we paid mad money just for them to tell us that two of the chefs quit. all they served us was mystery meat. like why am i driving to chick-fil-a when i paid 17 dollars per meal. tell me why i was spending my evening dodging rats instead of reading my bible. if anything i was expecting to cry because of the service but i cried bc of rats. i got multiple witnesses btw so don’t play with me. if you guys want the phone number of any of my lawyers shoot me a dm.

This camp is absolutely the best - I would highly recommend.

This campsite was a terrible disappointment! It caused itself a Christian campsite with Christian values. That word is all over the campsite. It’s all over their information. But when we got there with our young adults over 140 of them, we went into the cafeteria to find the lgbq* flag flying big and bold in the middle of the cafeteria. Saying that they absolutely embrace this lifestyle. It was deceptive because it stated that stood by Christian values, and this is not the case. I want Christian to know that this site doesn’t support Christian values. We can absolutely love everybody and we should and we’re commanded to, but we cannot embrace every lifestyle. There are clear values set apart in scripture.

Fantastic camp. Well run and my children count the days to return each summer. Truly a caring staff with fantastic programs.

A true hidden treasure for all ages!

Can I just say beautiful!!!! The grounds are breathtaking. The nature around you is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are well kept. There are so many activities to be planned. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We attended this establishment for 1 overnight and a eucharist the next day with breakfast. The cabins are spacious, and I love the grand room in the middle where everyone can unite in communion. They are clean and very well kept. Where we held our eucharist is a newly built space of gathering, they're still finishing it. It's absolutely stunning!!!!!!!. They have done a great job in design and layout. Our youth has really enjoyed it, and we are very grateful for the opportunity to the Lord and our catechist to bring us here. May the Lord bless your business 100 fold, and may many people enjoy it. My 60th birthday celebration was this past weekend at Johnsonburg. Justin was AMAZING and all other staff members were accommodating and welcoming! The atmosphere was relaxing and restorative. This is a great venue! I’m planning on going back next year! Five stars for J-burg!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Ida B Fabulous!

As a graduate of Ridge High School, Basking Ridge, NJ we had "Band Camp" there in the '60s. I recently found this photo showing us marching up the main drive and brought back sweet memories. I'm glad to see this wonderful camp still exists.

Counseling Wonderfully Made camp was the best week of my summer!

Not what it used to be, the camp has taken a full 180. At one point a fun and adventurous camp has now focused it’s energy into other activities. No longer interested in teaching kids life skills like fire building, tying knots or how to swim. Camp has just not felt like camp anymore.

Visit, take a breath, relax and be prepared to wonder. All ages benefit from an hour, a day or a week experience.

favorite place ever, hands down

My family and I love Johnsonburg. Between the stellar staff and the ever improving facilities it has been a part of many wonderful experiences for all of us. My children (15 & 13) have both been campers since they were in elementary school. It continues to be a highlight of their summers. And all of us have participated in retreats and day events at camp.

This is a magical place for kids and young adults to enjoy the outdoors, participate in many activities and make great friendships. My son has attended numerous retreats and summer camp over the years and always comes home talking about how wonderful his experience was. He reports that it is the people and sense of community and inclusion that make it special. It is also spiritual, but presented in a way where everyone feels included, regardless of their beliefs.

My children (17 and 15) have been going to Johnsonburg for years. First for day trips with youth group, then for overnight retreats, and this past summer attended camp for a week. They also both joined the Social Justice Cohort that is a program that stretches over several months with online and in person meetings. My children are very different from each other, but they both found activities that interested them at Johnsonburg. They have made connections and friendships with other teens and always look forward to seeing them at Johnsonburg events. They have commented many times about how wonderful the guest speakers are and they are never bored there. Camp Johnsonburg is a special place and I am so thankful to my church youth group leaders for introducing my children to it.

A beautiful setting and wonderful place for camping. My child comes back each time with amazing stories, centered, and stronger in her faith.

My children have spent a week at this camp for several summers. Every time they come back home they are thrilled about their experiences and are eager to return. I’m very grateful for the good environment and the opportunity for my kids to expand and grow.

Any time I have the opportunity to be at camp Johnsonburg, I am filled with a sense of God's presence. It is a place of sanctuary that then equips people for living and for following God's call out in the world. The staff are kind, fun and deeply spiritual people who radiate a sense of love and hope. Johnsonburg has been an important part of my own and my children's spiritual development.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Johnsonburg! My daughters and I have been coming for youth retreats and family fun days for the past few years. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious, and the place is just beautiful. When we are at Johnsonburg we feel a special kind of peace that we don't feel anywhere else. The retreats have helped my 12 year old daughters grow their confidence and grow in their faith - as my daughter says, "Johnsonburg is the place where I know I can be myself and I belong."

Camp Johnsonburg is a place of joy, peace, acceptance, and love. My daughter is most freely herself when she is there. It’s wonderful for me, too.

What a wonderful camp! One of my favorite places to go to in NJ. The staff is top notch, the food is great, and the programs they do are always wonderful and thought provoking. My church loves to go up for their day retreats, and will hopefully go to more weekend long ones. Can't suggest them enough!

I had a great time at the camper at Johnsonburg. It was a counselor door my high school days.

So excited any time I get to visit Johnsonburg. I was there on a Saturday and the lunch we had was amazing. Salad bar! The kitchen staff were also very friendly and helpful. Love the new chairs in the dining hall too, very rustic, but clean, and very comfortable!

I am a Camp Johnsonbuger! I started coming here for congregational retreats and bringing our son to summer camp. I've participated in Women's retreats and chaperoned youth retreats. I seldom miss an opportunity to spend time at beautiful and magical Camp Johnsonburg and it has been a real joy to see it grow and improve over the years. There is something here for everyone -- including heat, real beds and indoor plumbing (in case you are concerned it might be too rustic for you)! The grounds are beautiful, the facilities are excellent, and the staff is top-notch. And even the food is great!

It’s cold in the Winter, and it’s hot in the Summer. Spring is the best season, fall is second but I love it.

Our group of young families had an amazing weekend at Johnsonburg! Camp is such a special environment, and we had a lovely fall weekend enjoying nature, a camp fire, and each other's company. Cedar Lodge is renovated with new (very comfortable) beds and a gas fireplace, and was the perfect place to play board games when the weather turned rainy. The staff was wonderful to work with and accommodated us with anything we thought to ask for.

If you get a chance to book the Meadowview Cabin, take it! Such a cozy setting. It’s cottage living comes to camp. The beds are super comfortable (one queen and one single), and I love sitting on the front porch to work. As someone who has to have coffee first thing in the morning, I appreciated the coffee pot, and the small fridge and microwave gave me extra options for snacks. It is a real gift of a retreat. AND they have a food service director who is not only a great cook, but is so great about working with people with special dietary needs.

My son's Boy Scout Troop (77 Wyckoff, NJ) spent the weekend at Johnsonburg. Everyone had a great time. Great Fishing, Archery, and a beautiful setting for the campsite.

I have 4 daughters all have attended addy one time or another and all 4 unique personalities have come hinge sharing wonderful stories if fun and friendship, dine still communicate with their new friends years later. I will continue to send them to this friendly, loving, safe and fun environment for years to come. You should send your children also, they will live the experiences learn a bit of independence and put those phones down for a eye waking look at life and nature. You will not regret it, promise 💛

I have brought youth to Johnsonburg for 20+ years and have always been pleased. Youth could be free to explore and enjoy the beautiful grounds- I had so many wonderful memories filled with laughter. And then there was Covid. This April was to be our first trip since 2019 and I had a younger group going. I did not know what to expect. Kim was wonderful in helping to plan our trip and Harry was amazing working with our group. He guided them through the low ropes course and his patience, humor, and kindness made the experience one the youth will not forget. They started off all over the place, not listening, and by the end they were working together, listening and unified. It felt wonderful to be back! I am already beginning to plan our next retreat. Thank you Kim and Harry for all that you did to make our first trip after Covid a success!

The unexpected surprises of natural beauty at Johnsonburg abound and continue to amaze me every time I visit. Finding such natural beauty so close to major population centers such as NYC and Phila. with so many varied housing options, excellent community building activities and superb hospitality makes Johnsonburg a rare find for a summer camp, a family reunion, a meeting or place to retreat.

What a beautiful site! The facilities are great and the staff are always looking to improve guest experience. In addition to the facilities the camp is located on a several hundred acre piece of land with multiple trails to explore! What an excellent place to connect with others and with your faith!!

I've been to Camp Johnsonburg several times with both my youth and for day events. I was very impressed with the housing facilities, which are much more comfortable and private than many retreat centers I've been to, plus the waterfront is lovely and peaceful. The staff is very welcoming and is always trying to improve on both the programs they offer and making the facilities hospitable. A wonderful place to visit for a day, weekend, or even longer!

What a place! A jewel and it's so close to NYC. We stayed in the Meadowview house this past time. So comfortable and secluded. We found out about Johnsonburg when a group we are involved with booked the Lodges for a retreat. I fell in love! Open meadows, rolling woods and a dining hall with a spectacular view of their private lake. Boating was great. Bring the kids for a get away and book your groups here. So very impressed. I have stayed at retreats before, but this was well kept and comfortable. Oh, and don't get me started on the staff. they are so caring. Felt at home away from home.

I have been a volunteer are this camp for 5 years. We work hard to make this a 'a welcoming, well maintained, and professional camp experience for adults and kids. People I've talked to love this place - the beauty, the lake, the facilities and most of all the people. You won't be disappointed.

My twin 8 year olds attended the Genesis camp this summer. It is a shortened program for first time campers. They thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back for a full week next year. No homesickness, no tears when they left, only tears when we picked them up... because they wanted to stay longer. The camp is well run! Communication before and during is phenomenal. The counselors connected with my children from the minute they opened the car door to welcome them to camp. It was very clear that the counselors are well trained and love kids. The camp posts daily photos so you have an idea of what your child is doing each day. My children came home from camp describing everything from the wonderful daily worship times of singing to the all camp games, the giant swing, the lake, the pool... on and on. My son said that, "they never let anything get boring." I highly recommend this camp for an exciting, fun filled and Christ-filled experience for your child.

Our church was kind enough to send all 4 of children to camp. They had never been away, let alone for a whole week. From the moment we got there, which was late due to traffic. The staff was amazing. Colin helped get everyone sorted into cabins, and seperate my girls (they wanted time away from each other). Off the kids went, off I went. 2 days later an email was sent letting me know that my first time campers were having a great time. That was one of the nicest things, as the kids can't call home. Every child was busy. Stepping out of their comfort zones and trying new and exciting things. They said the food was great. They can't wait to go back next year.

We brought a group of 30 Teenagers for a Leadership training. The hospitality we received during our overnight stay was great. Johnsonburg staff did an excellent job with the team building activities. They helped to get the group comfortable with sharing and doing activities together. It made our next sessions a lot easier. We all had a great time. Thank you!!

Amazing place for all walks of life

Johnsonburg is a beautiful conference and retreat facility for any season. The winterized facilities are perfect for corporate retreats and really anything else you can imagine. With intuitive and engaged staff, this venue can be utilized to suit nearly every need!

Only been here a handful of times, but I can say that not only is the food is great, but the dining hall itself is beautiful on the inside and offers a great view of the lake around back.

Best camp ever! I went as a kid and now my children. My son has been 3 times. Compared to other camps, he likes here the best. He is still singinh camp songs along with his sister. Robin really helped make it possible for them attend. This place is a blessing!

Such a great camp! Been there Many years. The leaders are so kind and amazing. The activities are tons of fun. I had a blast! It's a great establishment for all ages (I've grown up going there) from child to teen.

Great camp. Spacious and lots of activities for all passions. Have been going for generations. It's a real family camp as your kids will want to go and their kids as well as they hear stories about all the fun and friendships.

We just use the gym there but the staff is absolutely wonderful and easy to work with. The camp grounds are really beautiful and so big!

I went to this camp as a kid, and now my kids go. They offer a variety of options for kids, teens, and adults. Family camp is great for younger kids. It's a tech-free camp... no phones or electronics are permitted and campers are kept busy with hiking, rope courses, boating, swimming, worship, etc. The staff is fabulous and kids are never pressured, only encouraged. They have a new chef that my kids rave about. It's a wonderful, traditional camp. They also have a scholarship program for families that can't afford the full cost of camp. It's definitely worth taking a look!
