We hosted our quarterly department dinner here (Midlothian) and everything was great! We had a larger group, about 30 people. The dinner area we were seated in, service, and food were great! I got a lot of positive feedback from my coworkers regarding the choice to have Capital Ale House host our dinner.

We always have a great experience here! Our waitress Hope was amazing and we remembered her from the year before when we came!

Food was awesome, beer selection was awesome, our server, Hope, who has been our server multiple times, is great as always.

This is only my second time coming to Capital Ale House. The burger was amazing. The Cider Donut was really good. The pretzel was amazing. Most importantly. Our server, Hope, was amazing!

Excellent food. Good service. Nice staff. Very spacious dining areas. Today was perfect weather and 6 of us sat on the very large outdoor patio and lingered for a long time afterward as well.

My mom was visiting me from out of state and I took her to Capital Ale in Midlothian. I raved about their Monday burger night and she was not disappointed. Our waitress, Julie was pleasant and on point.

Late night outting with friends. Ordered beer and wings at the bar (very friendly bar staff). They have an assortment of wings that are very delicious in all types and flavors. If you are a beer lover. You will be in heaven. They had all kinds as well as their own brewery. They separate the bar area (with TV's) from the true dining area. Both atmospheres are great in sitting in either area. They is a patio on both sides of the restaurant. People were sitting out there as the night was beautiful at the time of my visit. You can have romantic/date night. Or hang out with friends.

Come here often. Jess is fantastic and always makes it worth the trip! One of the hardest working bartenders in town! The Monday Burger nights are an unbeatable deal. Also, the Schnitzel is a classic. Bring back the $5 schnitzel!

My husband and I love the Richmond location. We figured we’d pay this location a visit since we were running errands close by. We should have stuck to our usual orders instead of branching out. Chicken shrimp and andouille pasta is his favorite and my second favorite. I know it has been a little more than five years since they got rid of their chicken and waffles. I really really loved that dish when they use to serve it. My husband got a French dip and was a little disappointed the roast beef was a bit dry. I got the shrimp tacos and the shrimp was overcooked. I do wish there was a hint more acid in the slaw to brighten up the dish. The bottled Thai chili sauce was heavy for this dish. We loved the fries and the fried pickles were great. If we come back, we will be sticking to pasta dishes.

No server on a Friday night only the bartender trying to tend to 20+ people bar and tables. Waited 10 minutes for a water. Food messed up. Food runner offered to refill our drinks and never came back. Mashed potatoes served cold. And fries extremely burnt??? definitely wouldn’t recommend this location

Dirty napkins,both my husband and I received,then I got another dirty napkin. I ordered shrimp tacos, awful! They changed things up to look better,but it's worse. Lol, fancy menu means nothing when the food is awful and you get dirty napkins and plates!

Brianna's warmth and humility were evident from the start. I've found a new favorite spot, thanks to her impressive drinks and quick service!

Waited 35+ minutes for two entrees on a Saturday. Felt like we wasted our time waiting around and honestly should have left at the 20 minute mark. Was met by the floor manager only after waiting 30~ minutes that they were short staffed with only two people working the kitchen. My husband's fish and chips came out way too fried. After we left, we discussed about our meals and found out his fish was so fried that it cut the roof of his mouth. The fries on both of our meals were stale as if you could have mistaken them for stale fast food fries. $22 for fish and chips should have actually been more like $15. My burger could have been from a fast food place instead where it could've came out a lot quicker for what it was worth. Too overpriced. The server came around saying our food will be out any minute now at around the 20 minute wait mark and we waited another 10-15 mins for our meal. Not once did they just offer to refill our waters... FYI, if you knew you only had two people working the kitchen, maybe a simple note to the customer while they walked in would have been better than us waiting 35+ minutes on our two meals. I'm glad we didn't get anything else. I don't believe we will be going back here. I'm embarrassed to have taken my husband here for his birthday. I told him I'll have to take him somewhere else. Disappointed as it was our first time here. Customer service is lacking. Food was just average.

Food was pretty good. Spinach and crab dip is excellent. The service was fantastic!! Bobby was a great server!!

The atmosphere is always nice, excellent Stout beer selection even during summer, I always enjoyed their salads and delirious dishes, great and friendly service.

Everyone’s meal was cold. It was barely warm and We were a party of five . A party of six came in 10 minutes after us, but all six of them receive their meals way before us. It was very very disappointing. The service was not good and the wait was long and the food was cold. It was a disappointing evening

Stopped by for lunch. Great service. Food prepared quickly and to order. Steak cooked perfectly. Would definitely eat here again.

Slid thru for happy hour and sat at the bar! I won’t hold you, there aren’t too many choices on the food menu for happy hour. Loaded fries, sweet potato fries and more fries… But if you sit at the bar, a 5pc wing is $3 off ($6.50) and worth a try. You can get them sauced or with a dry rub. Try the peach bbq or the Mexicali! I’m the champagne lady so I sipped on $5 glasses of Prosecco (on tap) some of the best Prosecco I’ve EVER tasted! And on the kind suggestion of my very sweet bartender (nice guy, I wish I remembered his name) I ordered the beignets! Those beignets are DELICIOUS!!!! Don’t leave the restaurant without a bag or two! I’m definitely going back! Happy Hour is M-F, 3pm-6:30pm

Seasonal salad was alright, chicken was overcooked, but Vinny was awesome! Such a helpful and knowledgeable guy, love seeing him whenever visiting.

Beautiful place! Spoke at a woman's dinner and I loved how cozy our meeting was in a secluded area. All allergies were assessed and many items on the gluten free menu. Jordan our server was very attentive to our group even taking a photo for us at the end.

I have been to capital ale many times and usually enjoy it, but tonight was the worst meal I have had in a while anywhere. I ordered the baked cod and it was garbage. The piece of fish was about 5 bites. The apples were barely cooked. The "special" mustard sauce barely had any flavor. The portion was so small that I went to Publix afterwards to get something else to eat. Spent $50 only to still be hungry. I have noticed their "bar" food is good, but their higher end dishes are very hit or miss

On 6/17, Brianna and Jess were exceptional at Capital Ale House in Midlothian during Burger Night. Brianna's attention to detail and Jess's friendly demeanor made the perfect team. They provided top-notch service to all tables, including the Thompson family, who were celebrating their retired firefighter dad. Their seamless teamwork and dedication ensured every guest had a fantastic experience.

If you’re in the Richmond area, it’s a MUST HAVE that you check this spot out they got just about everything you want, good price on drafts, classic drinks and also some new drink recipes you might can’t find anywhere else and amazing staff, Brianna the bartender that works there is amazing and always seems to be in a great mood and very helpful with people like me that have a hard time picking something to order I’ll be back next week!

I came there not that long ago and I love the environment. I haven’t had the chance trying the food out but I kept eyeing everyone else’s food and it looked amazing so definitely getting some next time! I had this one drink there I never heard of until then called a coconutlada (I hope I said it right) recommended by Brianna who works there and I loved it! Speaking of Brianna wonderful service I definitely recommend asking for her when you go

Great place to eat, chill and get some drinks, I usually get the same drink everywhere I go but my bartender Brianna was pretty cool and recommended me a blue grass motorcycle! Now Im addicted to them (in a good way lol, promise haha)

I had an incredible experience at Capital Ale House, and the standout part of my visit was the amazing service from Brianna, the bartender. She truly went above and beyond to make my evening special. From the moment I sat down, Brianna greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. Her knowledge of the beer selection was impressive, and she helped me choose the perfect drink to match my taste. When I was unsure about what to order, she patiently explained the options and made excellent recommendations. Brianna's attentiveness throughout the night was remarkable. She ensured my glass was never empty and checked in frequently to see if I needed anything else. Her friendly and personable demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. What really impressed me was how Brianna handled a busy bar with ease, all while maintaining top-notch service. She managed to make every customer feel valued and taken care of, which is no small feat. Thanks to Brianna's outstanding service, I will definitely be returning to Capital Ale House. She made the evening memorable, and I highly recommend asking for her when you visit!

Their $3.95 burger deal is great but the sides are full price. You also have to dine in and purchase a beverage. Our waiter didn't inform us of that. Also took a meal home that was missing the sides.

My husband and I needed a late night spot to go to after an event. After searching for places, we saw this place was open late and you could order from the full menu. Vinny was an amazing host! He helped us with food and drink options, and small talk was great. We already loved the food here, but having a place to go late with great food and service really topped our date night off. Thanks, Vinny! We'll be back soon!

We are from out of town Very very slow service. Had to ask many people for a glass for my drink. Cuban sandwich and fries came out cold and cod was overcooked like rubber. Then had to find waitress for our check. Sorry would not recommend.

The place is severely understaffed. The bartender and only wait staff was running around all night and doing his best, but there was no manager in site and the host didn’t help with running any of the food. We showed up at 9:15(they’re open until midnight), there was one server working the entire restaurant and he was also the bartender. We sat for almost 15-20 minutes before our server came to great us. We ordered drinks and apps and those took probably 30-45 minutes to arrive. We then put in our mains and before they even came to our table, our server returned to ask us if we wanted dessert—he then seemed shocked we hadn’t gotten our food yet. Our food was lukewarm but the plates were hot which means it had been sitting waiting to be delivered for quite some time. It then took a while to get our tab and close out. If this restaurant is going to be open until midnight, there needs to be more staff to support the customers. Our server was friendly and gave us a complimentary apple pie a la mode.

It is the day after my husband’s retirement party that we hosted at Capital Ale House Midlothian last night and WOW! Everything turned out perfectly - the food was delicious, the cocktails done just right, and the staff was excellent! Julia, Madison and Brooks did an outstanding job in attending to all of our needs. They were polite, prompt, and worked to profession! I also appreciate your flexibility in accommodating us with menu substitutions. I highly recommend this event space to all of those who are in need.

I order takeout from Capital Ale House almost every week, and the service I receive is always excellent. Lauren always goes above and beyond to make sure I’m happy. Everyone there is always welcoming and friendly!

Decent food, ok service. But they were out of 4 different items we wanted including the featured drink and the dessert that comes with the kids meal. Had to go into the kitchen to get them to get a substitute dessert.

Steaks VERY TOUGH!!! Disappointed in the meal. Usually get a burger which is pretty good.

Good local place - ice-bar to keep your drink relatively cool. Food is above average - pasta - steak - burgers. See the menu online if you're looking for something in particular. Hasn't changed - good beer selection & good food

I’m a regular here and I’m always so impressed with the fantastic friendly service and great food! I love coming here for burger night on Mondays. The special sauces that come with the fries are my favorite! Tonight as always the food and service were great! Thanks Jess L for the great experience. (and thanks to the rest of the staff too!)

I love coming here. The beer selection is crazy and the loaded fries are something I've never had before. I came in last Friday and sat at the bar table with my buddies. Jess is an amazing bartender always helping me find a beer and suggesting great food. I will definitely be back!

Had a burger, it was great. The service on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. Server had many issue, forgot part of the order dropped a tray drinks a then didn't bring drink for 10+ minutes. He appeard overwhelmed

This was the second time here for Birthday dinner but the first time here was absolutely fabulous, so that’s why this place was chosen for Birthday dinner again. We had dinner there this past weekend with a couple friends for a birthday celebration. One of my friends dinner came out with hair on it another ordered some drinks which were fine the first round but second round was too much Alcohol, not balanced properly and had to be sent back. When our bill came they comped us on that persons meal and the messed up drink but I was ready to go at that point. We were told the manager would come out and speak with us. Our waitress was very apologetic, but no manager ever came.

Went here for dinner tonight with some friends and had one of the worst meals ever. Food came out with a hair right on top of it, drinks were not being refilled, soup coming out cold, missing food items and never was once visited by a manager or offered any kind of compensation for all of the issues we experienced.

The atmosphere was amazing. The BOH Manager Derrell came, and ask have I been waited on, I told him “No”. He went and check, when I looked My waitress Madison was ready to take my order. She was polite and friendly. I definitely will be coming back

Yesterday I had this dope bartender Bri that was really nice and had awesome recommendations on what to get to eat and drink! she was awesome and I will definitely come back!

This dining experience was sub par compared to my previous experiences at this restaurant. We sat in the bar area as there was an hour wait in the dining room due to LARGE sports team party. This visit, the French Dip steak sandwich had greasy burnt pieces at the bottom of the sandwich. Our interactions with the waitress were professional but she was clearly in less than a happy mood. My beverage was forgotten until I walked up to the bar to inquire. I’m pretty sure this was just a bad night for them and not their standard. If you’ve never eaten at Capital Ale House, it’s definitely worth giving them a try.

The adventure started with the hostess walking away without a greeting in sight until someone else happened to be walking by and sat us. This was followed by our server very comfortably sitting at our table for quite a while like we were old friends while taking our order. Really! True story. The restaurant did not smell clean. I bet you're asking why I stayed. I guess you can say I'm a sucker for chances. I won't waste of your time but that performance was followed by very mediocre food, and no one caring.

Placed an order then told that “we’re out of that”…should have known to not order anything then but went ahead and placed an order for steak. This “steak” was ordered medium well and it came out beyond rare. Needless to say this place not only doesn’t know how to properly order items needed for their very limited menu but they also do not know how to cook. Beyond disappointing

The smokehouse burger was fantastic, and the fries were good as well. The waiter was very helpful in giving us tasters to see what we wanted to drink. He was good about seeing our needs without checking in overly much. The drink selection is great outside of beer, which I often have trouble finding at a tap house, as someone who doesn’t like beer. Overall great experience for mom’s night out!

Sunday 5pm out of special 2 - iced tea was sour 3 - blackened chicken was over cooked and unchewable 4 - shrimp chicken sausage pasta was spoiled and sauce was nasty water 5- Ceasar salad had no dressing and romaine was wilted also came out w our entrees 6 - took half off bill? Should have been 0 bc we didn't eat anything. No big deal..

Nice little bar in downtown Richmond. Had a couple pints of beer and a couple of apps. There is also a downstairs area that has different drafts on tap than upstairs so make sure you check it out. I would visit again when I come to Richmond.

The service was great, the brunch food was relatively average, but it was decent. It’s a huge restaurant, so it wasn’t overly crowded.

Love this place!! Great Food... Very Comfortable atmosphere!! Wait staff just perfect... Attentive enough but not Hovering over you!! I love their Black & Bleu Salad with Flank Steak!!!! My husband has not had a beer there that he did not thoroughly ENJOY!!!

The food had a lot to be desired it's not fun as good as it seems like it would be the service is very slow the water tasted like mold will not be going back

I saw the sign out front that said andoullie sausage hushpuppies.... my dream come true! right away I called my roommate and we planned to go on the next Sunday... we all went.. 12 bucks for five tiny, dry hushpuppies... even the waiter apologized saying how others have complained! I've never been more let down.... ...... .... the rest of the food was good and the service was great!

Ok place to eat with a lot of options and variety.

We had Bri as our server, and she was AMAZING. Very nice, knowledgeable and a very good attitude.

Beer selection is awesome but I ordered the andouille hush puppies, which are advertised as being packed with andouille sausage, and it was mostly bread with very few small bits of sausage. They should either really load them down with sausage or change the description. Seems like false advertising to me.

Where my husband and I met on our first date. Great burgers and beer selection.

My wife and I had a early dinner Christmas eve, our server Bobby was outstanding as was our meal. We truly appreciate how Bobby timed our meal, it's a huge peeve for us to be rushed when dining out. Appetizers are meant to be enjoyed before your meal lol and Bobby made sure that happened. Our dinner was hot and delicious and brought out after we finished our pretzel (btw the pretzel itself is worth the drive, we live in Cumberland) a note to management don't let Bobby get away from you he's what all your service staff should aspire to be. Thanks again Bobby for the excellent dinner and awesome service.

We did not get much food for the price. The small Caesar salad was a tiny bowl of old Romaine lettuce.

I like the ambient and the beer selection. The food is o.k. but way over priced.

I like going to Capital Ale House Restaurant. The food is great and they have a great beer selection. I have gotten calamari and fish tacos several times.

Man this place is very under-rated. Food is always very well prepared. Service is good. Always a good spot to celebrate. The pretzels and sausages are always great. We really enjoy living near Capital Alehouse.

Tonight my friend and I went to Capital Ale. I had not been there for about a year and I was craving their shrimp tacos. I ordered them (as always) with only shrimp and grated cheese. When they came, they had 2 tacos with 2 shrimp on each. That's it! 2 shrimp. The waitress was nice but said that was correct. That they had made some changes in the last year. Only 2 shrimp and if I wanted, she would get me a few more. When she came back she said the Manager said I could get more but there would be an additional charge. I did not choose to pay more since I already felt I was due more. More than ticked. Will not be back.

Hubby and I went to the Capitol Ale House for Christmas Eve. We didn't have reservations so we had to sit in the bar area, which was just fine. We enjoyed the food, service, and beer selection.

Great restaurant. Well run, food was delicious, service was great, overall wonderful experience. The restaurant really has a nice air to it. One of their best features is the extensive beer options, with great descriptions on their menu. My husband ordered the Mushroom French Dip Burger with french fries. The burger was very juicy and cooked to order. I had the Krakow, which was made with smoked polish sausage, beer-braised onions, and gouda cheese. Very nice meal in a chill atmosphere. Definitely will go back to try other specialties on menu.
