Great coffee!!! The last time we went, we grab one of the breakfast sandwiches. It was huge. My wife and I split it. Nice quiet place to lounge around and grab good coffee, a bite to eat, and converse.

Must have been understaffed because I stood there just trying to get a pre packaged biscotti and wasn't acknowledged or told they would be right with me. A little goes a long way. Wouldn't recommend.

This is the cafe, not the restaurant. It is a coffee shop and the food items are not made as fresh. Compare to a starbucks or local equivalent. My mistake for confusing it with their other establishments.

I ordered the pimento tomato bacon grilled cheese and it was fabulous! The flavors were intense. It came with cantaloupe, blueberries, and carrot sticks as sides. I also had a decaf iced latte, which tasted just like bold caffeinated espresso. They also had a nice collection of local goodies: soap, artwork, body lotions, etc. to purchase. Overall, my friend and I had a delicious, relaxing lunch.

I don't ever wish the visit this place again. Service is terrible and they're extremely overpriced. I paid $9.50 for a small latte and a basic bottle of water. Latte wasn't anything good. On another occasion they charged me over $6 for a small milkshake and then didn't have the flavor my son wanted. They refunded my money and I left. Save your money and go to Starbucks since it's much cheaper.

We have been to this location numerous times since 2019. I love the concept, but the execution is lacking and food preparation seems to be taking longer and longer. You can get much better sandwiches elsewhere for the price. With that said, if you’re just stopping in to grab a pre-prepared item or coffee it’s fine as long as you’re not in a hurry. I’m bummed things haven’t improved.

Visited the Midlothian location a few weeks ago. After receiving our food, a friend noticed a hair on her carrots. Then after about 10 minutes of eating, we noticed another hair in my son’s bagel - in between the salmon and cream cheese. I took the plate to the employee working the register and let her know about the hair..her only response was “I’m sorry”. Nothing else was said or done. We weren’t offered a fresh food order, reimbursement. Also noticed that the women preparing the food seemed like they were in a foul mood, didn’t want to be there, or have anything to do with the customers. We used to frequent this place often, but you have now lost 6 customers…

I enjoyed my meal here. They have gluten-free breads as well as desserts. I had a delicious clam chowder made with rice flour, a decadent brown, and a gourmet grilled cheese!!! The atmosphere is charming and cozy, whether you are by yourself or dining with others. The service was wonderful! They brought my food out to me while I waited and it was to go. The young lady assisted me with understanding their gluten free offerings with great patience. I recommend this place as they have many options such as vegan, dairy free and gluten free. Overpriced and under flavorful. I ordered the Turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce. Only one slice of thin turkey and thin layer of cranberry sauce. Very sad little sandwich. My son and husband's sanfwiches of different types were equally measly. The best thing on the plate were the few slices of fresh pear. Overpriced for $60 for 3 sandwiches and 3 drinks. Clientele seems to be "ladies who lunch". The atmosphere however was nice.

I don't know why I've never been here till now because it's my kind of place. Fresh, eclectic, unique menu items are served up in a quaint location beside Midlothian Mines. I had lox on an everything bagel and left nothing behind. There's yummy looking cookies and other baked goods and even some natural treats for dogs. I got my son's dog some doggie sweet potato treats! I'll be back! One issue....parking. I suppose it's because they're continuing to work around there but there's no real parking lot, other than a semi- makeshift one in a field beside the restaurant

Atmosphere: We went for the first time looking for something different compared to all a coffee shop, or chain. The people attending were really nice and friendly! Menu: Homemade and fresh delicious options, juice, coffee, salads and sandwiches. Despite the options are limited, I guarantee they are really tasty. We ordered: - Chicken Salad Sandwich 4/5. Bread was hard to eat. Tasty flavor and fresh! - Egg, Bacon & Cheese Sandwich 5/5 - Caramel Latte 5/5 - Helen’s recipe 4/5. So spicy with the ginger that I had to add water! But it was natural and fresh. Total $42 Value for money totally worth it! Nice, clean and complete market area! I love the decoration and signs that help first timers. You have a station where you can get water, 2 restrooms tidy and clean. Lot of space to go and read a book and enjoy the breakfast/brunch!

Six of us...1st time 5 stars Service was expedient, prices were good, nice selection of food & drinks. Ordered 2 VA ham sandwiches, 3 lox & cream cheese (1 was gf) & a AB &J and drinks. EVERYTHING was very good! ...I've been here several times since I originally posted. I have an enjoyable time each time. Friendly staff, great selection of food & drink. Latest visit 10/29/23...updated fall menu was nice. We got Turkey cranberry sandwiches. They were delish. We noticed tables had not been cleaned & the bathroom had no soap. The shelves were pretty bare & we always buy several items like wine, chocolate & honey when we are there. We couldn't buy any wine because we were told they lost their liquor license (but there was wine on the shelf??) And no local honey. The place was pretty empty for a Sunday lunch (1130-1230). I like a quiet place but it seems like they're not doing so great. Location might be part of the issue. If they open one up by Swift Creek Reservoir off of Hull St, they would do a ton of business!

Food is overpriced. I think that’s the biggest thing. People will overlook most things of the price is right. I’ve been here a few times to get work done and it does what it needs to but it’s ridiculous to pay for a $6 bagel with cream cheese and have to spread it myself? Coffee is decent but on multiple occasions had to get warm milk to offset the cold coffee. There is an up charge for everything. Which I get but y’all should go to Perk cafe. At the very least even if it’s overpriced the food is better.

MORE AT Google

Owner is a self-obsessed control freak incapable and unwilling to run her own business. "HR" has a habit of protecting employees that create a toxic and hostile work environment for their own self interest. Food, fridges, and line are covered in mold and infested with flies and other pests, yet the health department refuses to do anything about it (owner hides documents that she's required to display). The "gluten free" station is constantly cross contaminated without as little as a barrier in the broken fridge to keep it separate from the rest of the food. Ice machines were filled with pink mold and copper which the owner knew about and sold to customers for at least a year and did nothing about it until it finally broke. Equipment is damaged to a point of being a health and safety hazard (exposed wires, fridge caught on fire, standing water where produce is kept, more mold in the back rooms). The sanitizer is almost entirely water. For a period of time, employees were expected to wipe down counters with coffee filters and water because the store ownership and management couldn't manage to keep basic things in stock (cup lids, straws, soup lids, most of the food on the line, rags, coffee filters, etc). Floors are black from years of built up grime. The little food in stock is more often than not well passed it's expiration. Owner has a habit of disrespecting employees and their time as well as bouncing checks on a semi-regular basis. Not really hard to see why she's losing both customers and employees. On top of everything, when she's not away for months on end on personal vacations, the owner has the audacity to charge a bare minimum of $14 for food she doesn't know how to make, and expects employees to perform duties well beyond their pay grades while she actively makes life harder for everyone. Great place to go if you're a conservative freak with too much money to spend and no care for the quality of ingredients (largely Sysco and regular grocery store supplies) or your own health. Just ask around and nearly everyone has some horror story associated with this place. Store regularly gets calls from companies shorted on payment. Most jobs like this are thankless, but if you work here you will either be fired (rehired, promoted, then demoted all within a week) or driven to quit. The pay is barely worth the toll it takes on you, and not incomparable to almost any other cafe in the area. Business is on its last legs and I couldn't be happier about it.

This establishment is not a great place for customers looking for quality food. This current location has a fly and fruit fly infestation that the owner actively ignores. I watched a fruit fly land into someones drink. I then heard one of the older looking employees ask if they could scoop it out and then try to berate the employee making the drink instead. Their cutting boards and many of the pieces of equipment contain mold. None if not most of the products are not locally sourced. Despite the advertising and the names of food on the menu; the bacon is Hormel, the soup is from Sysco, the salmon, the "organic lemonade, the fruits, the vegetables all from Costco or whatever supermarket has it for the cheapest. Most of the electrical equipment is not safe for use. The owner herself constantly berates her employees and recently fired an employee for speaking up and filing complaints. This place only cares about a profit, while the prices go up, the portions become smaller and while that is the case in most places, here's an example of what I mean: Bacon was removed from the "pimento grilled cheese" and now cost 5 dollars for 2-3 slices to be added back to the sandwich. Saw multiple older employees behind the line with no hair coverings or aprons. Not an environment anyone should be in.

If you want to pay $45 for 2 coffee shop meals and wait for 45 minutes for 5/10 food come here! The woman with glasses and a shaved head has an extreme attitude problem that I don’t think she’s aware of. The looks she gave when I asked if my food was close to being ready (after waiting for 40 minutes) was disgusting and she definitely needs some more training on her facial expressions. When I went to order they were out of VANILLA syrup!! and white chocolate. which are two of the most popular syrups for lattes. When I tried to order my third syrup I asked for caramel and I asked if they had salt so they could salt my caramel and he looked at me like I said something so absurd it honestly made me insecure and uncomfortable (I work at a local coffee shop and this is asked all the time so I know it’s not out of the ordinary and even if it was CONTROL YOUR FACIAL EXPRESSION.) When I asked the cashier what soups they had the lady with the shaved head and glasses just had to chime in with her attitude. (sorry i wasn’t aware of the sign for your soup of day. it may be at the register but it doesn’t stand out.) It’s an uncomfortable environment to be in and I felt extremely uncomfortable around the staff. Just overall not an good experience for how pricey everything is. I don’t mind spending a lot of money if the experience is good, but it was not. I would also suggest scheduling more than 3 people on a Sunday afternoon. The food is pretty complicated and you can’t expect your baristas to put the food out in a timely manner with one person on register, one on food, and one on drinks. It’s not a good look for your establishment.

Quaint farmhouse style with expansive bright sunny windows and large front porch for sipping your favorite brew. Inside has rich, warm wood paneling that makes it feel soothing and comfortable. Has an eclectic assortment of Virginia sourced products and gifts that include muffins, scones, ice cream, wine, beer, coffee and tea to brew at home, pasta and sauces, goats milk soaps, and even a few treats for the family dog! Nice menu selection for breakfast and lunch to enjoy inside the cafe or on the porch in nice weather. I had the Virginia Ham Cubano, that had thick slices of juicy pork, Virginia ham, white cheese, mustard and pickles all on a demi loaf of crusty bread. It was delicious, enough to save for lunch the next day! I also had a large hot Coffee Toffee Latte that was so smooth and flavorful easily making it the best cup of coffee I have ever had. Rich, smooth, flavorful, not too strong or sweet, but perfect. The server and barista were happy, charming and delightful! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will come again soon. There are multiple locations, but today I visited the Midlothian Market in the Millworks complex, just off Woodridge Road and near Midlothian Mines Park.

A message to ownership - HIRE MORE PEOPLE! The food, atmosphere, and employees were great. The establishment is beyond under staffed. A breakfast/coffee shop should not create lines out the door, over 20minute waits, and encourage end-of-line waiting customers to leave as a result of such slow service. You have a great establishment, but absolutely need to recognize the issue at hand which is you are losing business, money & customers by not processing and completing orders fast enough, especially on a Saturday morning.

Did I really just pay over $7 for a small latte? Yes, yes I did. This is the only coffee shop in the area that has NYC prices. They charge $1.25 for a flavor & another $1.25 for nondairy milk. When I commented on the steep upcharge, the staff informed me that the nondairy milk was expensive. Come on y’all even Starbucks is cheaper. I’ve been coming here since it opened so I will say the staff is generally friendly & the atmosphere is nicer than a chain. The tables aren’t really kept up with as I find myself cleaning before I sit. Overall the place is nice considering its one of the only “local” coffee shops in the area, but it’s overpriced & kindof overrated. I’ll be back but hoping for some improvements…

I used to write here all the time. Absolutely loved this place. I see people talking about it being over-priced but you used to get what you paid for. Six months or so ago I was leaving town on extended business and saw a change in management or ownership or whatever before I left. Six months later I returned and am sadden to see my favorite spot has become a shell of its former self. Items and food have declined or completely disappeared yet the prices remained the same. The staff is friendly enough yet the magic is definitely gone. Many of them seem to always be training. I suppose due to turnover rate. The final straw was today when they didn't even have lids for their coffee cups. I've ran coffee shops. That's 101 ordering right there. When there was a shortage of lids, I hit up a Sam's Club and stocked out of my own pocket due to standards I felt should be set for customers. It's not that this place is bad. I can just feel the lack of care by either ownership or top management and the employees seem to be doing their best. I was happily willing to drop $20 to $25 dollars here three times a week when the product was worth it. Sadly it no longer is. The lack of stock and attention to detail is glaring when compared to what this place was before. I'm far from the only one to speak on this issue. I drive past five coffee shops to come here. I think today will be the last time I do that. I post this openly so that if management/ownership really does care about how awesome this place was and can be again, they'll take a real hard look at the product and environment they are offering and work harder to change. If I wanted the experience I've been getting, I'd might as well just go to a Starbucks. Good luck, Guys.

Staff is super friendly, very helpful, and the atmosphere is really really nice. Lots of windows and really peaceful. Unfortunately, the food is just not great. I tried the vegetable soup and appreciated that it actually tasted like veggies, without a pound of salt or sugar added to it. The tuna sandwich was simple, but had a nice flavor, I liked that. The apple slaw it came with was inedible. There was no dressing or anything on it whatsoever. It had no flavor other than raw carrot and red onions that have been pre-cut and held in the fridge too long. From one chef to another... flavor could use a big boost. The coffee was mediocre, not great but not bad, but expensive. Probably won't come back.

Took very long time to get the 2 sandwiches we ordered. They were very disappointing once we finally got them, particularly for how expensive they were. Won't be returning.

this place is definitely overpriced for the food quality. The coffees are very watery. sandwich fell apart immediately when I got it. 2 small coffees, 2 sandwiches brought to 42 dollars. that’s absolutely absurd.

The bacon egg sandwich was terrible. Not much bacon and the egg had so much black pepper it was inedible… and it probably took 25 min for the food to be served so much too long for a sandwich that was only assembled and toasted.

I’ve been here a few times before and it’s always been great; however it’s been a couple months that I’ve stopped by and this time it was really disappointing. I ordered a simple bagel with cream cheese, iced latte, and cappuccino. The two coffees were basically just milk and my god the bagel was so hard I thought my filling was going to break off. I also don’t think I’ve ever waited so dang long for just a toasted bagel (they weren’t busy btw), it took them 20 minutes, I’m glad I didn’t order anything else that was more complicated cuz I probably woulda gotten it after the sun set.

I really wanted to like this place, but they are either understaffed or unprepared. I ordered a large latte and just waited 25 mins with what seemed to be an average volume of customers. If you are coming here to sit and have a restaurant experience then it can work. But I came in for a quick coffee and lost 25 mins of my day. Had to push an appointment back because I had planned a 10 minute stop for a beverage. They have the right ambience and setting, but the workflow or staffing seems to be working against their best efforts.

If you enjoy dried out meat on an overly pressed piece of bread, get the Cubano! Very small portions and they forgot my soup. Just cannot recommend.

You rarely find a place that lets you customize your own juice! Most businesses have standard juices that you have to choose from. You're usually compromising on an ingredient you don't like (in my case, ginger). Love that I can pick half a sandwich and half a salad. I want to be healthy, but sometimes some bread, meat, and some cheese hit the spot.
