Ordered the jerk shrimp and loaded fries + jerk chicken on top. The food was awesome, fresh, great sauces. Wish there was seating but was a nice day outside. Service took awhile with lots of orders but they were very kind and helpful.

One of the hidden gems in Virginia Beach. A favorite of mine is the jerk beef fries (fries well done), but you won’t be disappointed getting it in a bowl with rice either. I get my bowls with a side of plantains. The plantains are always sweet, soft, and fried to perfection. Check their hours before you head over there, they don’t maintain regular business days/hours.

Locally owned by an amazing couple. Best place to get fresh and authentic Caribbean food FAST! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the rum cake after I enjoy their amazing jerk cauliflower bites. Relaxing at their outside dining area is the perfect way to eat and enjoy the sunset. Best Caribbean in the 757!

Such friendly staff and the food is amazing!! So much flavor and it’s got the perfect amount of kick. Always good quality, I highly recommend to anybody looking for great Caribbean food.

This place is TAKEOUT ONLY now, no dine in. Food comes out fast and hot. However, it is mediocre at best. Ordered chicken curry - - Not a whole lot of spice and flavors, even the extra hot sauce on the side tasted more like vinegar than chilli. Willing to give it another try... Maybe the jerk chicken is where they excel.

I randomly came across this place on Instagram and I’m really happy I visited! It’s a good vibe, local place with limited outdoor seating. The service was friendly and authentic, very warm and welcoming. We tried a little of everything and every dish was delicious. I recommend the Shack Jerk Chicken Bowl, Loaded Fries and Mac and Cheese. I didn’t try the Cuban sandwich but my boyfriend said it was fantastic. We can’t wait to go back!

Got the fry’s and Jerk Shrimp 100% would recommend and worth going a little out of your way to try this place. It’s a to go spot so no atmosphere, but could maybe make the entrance look a little different so it seems a little less sketch when you walk up. But don’t let that keep you away. Also get the aioli with it as well. So good.

Ordered takeout. Loaded Fries with Jerk beef and avocado cream... My goodness. This place has given me one more reason to drive to work. The fries are delicious, beef do tender and the flavor is out of this world! Thank you!!!

The food here is amazing and it’s always ready quickly after placing your order. Easily 5 stars. I’ve had the Jerk Chicken soba bowl and the Fried Chicken Calypso sandwich. Both have been excellent. My only complaint is that it’s labeled as “spicy” on the website - but seems pretty normal to me. There’s really no place to sit inside aside from a small bench. There’s a few small tables outside - but this is really a drive up and carry out kind of place. No need to arrive before you get the “your food is ready!” text.

OMG! Finally a killer lunch spot near Shore Dr. And Great Neck! Everything is made fresh with real food! I recommend, I recommend, I recommend! A block from the beach too for great take out. Did I mention Guy Fieri was here as well? YEP! I heard Guy Fieri did another visit! 2024

Heard about it from tv show so I went and tried it on my stay in Virginia Beach. I THINK it must be under new ownership because the stew chicken(0) was over cooked and tasteless and the jerk pork(6)was not jerked but it was ok.order came to 46$ so I'm pissed never going back....

The jerk chicken bowl & shrimp bowl were HITTING, loaded fries with pork GREAT!!! the calypso burger was ok but everything else made that ok; will visit again when back in town

I love it. The coco bread takes me back to new york, and the shape of it is just a tad refined and makes for a wonderful, tasty, and filling sandwich. In a mcdonalds world, its so nice to be able to go to a place that takes the time to put out excellent food at such a fair price. Its my new favorite, by far. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in feeding my family tonight, it was amazing.

Carib Shack is a Virginia Beach gem! They serve up some of the best Caribbean food we've had outside of the islands. The soca burrito and pork/chicken bowl with cabbage/carrots and coconut milk rice and beans are amazing. I've also previously tried the curry bowl (also delicious) and will definitely be back to try other items. If you've ever watched Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, you may recognize that chef Guy Fieri visited here and had nothing but great things to say about it. Pictured: soca burrito and pork/chicken bowl

Take out only! Overall, as a Caribbean restaurant, it surprisingly lacked in seasoning and flavor. Ordered the jerk pork bowl, jerk cauliflower bowl, loaded fries, fried sweet plantains, and Caribbean crunchwrap. Overall it falls short in taste, but has potential to be better.

Support this place. I'm writing this from the parking lot with my mouth full. They're such sweet people with really good food. I'll be back. Sincerely, One picky eater!

Overall great experience! Chickpea stew was delicious! Was even better the next day. 4/5 Coco Bread was good 5/5 Not coco bread 1/5 Roti love that it’s stuffed 5/5 Pepper sauce was hot to me! My friend said it tasted like vinegar water not spicy.

It’s hard to find roti in the area and I’m so happy I found it here. Had it with curry chicken which was a little bitter. Will get the roti but will try it with the stew chicken next time. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Went back for the Cuban sandwich and it was so good. I’ll definitely be back to try the other dishes.

It’s been 3 years since I’ve been in Virginia Beach and I still dream of Carib Shack. This is a flavor that I haven’t found anywhere else… and I’ve been searching. Oh how I miss you guys!

I am Jamaican and know what authentic Caribbean food should taste like. This spot has great food that tastes fresh. Just wish they were opened 7 days of the week.

I gave this place a try, with high hopes. Unfortunately, the cauliflower was dry and not fresh and tasty at all. I was hoping the food and flavor would be redeemed with the jerk chicken burrito. Sadly, it was dry, stale tasting and not palatable. Lunch $23 down the drain.

Curry Chicken over Red Beans and Rice was flavorful, but a bit dry. However, the par-boiled type of rice was chewy and the 2 beans on my plate could have been cooked longer. Portion size was generous. Wait time for in-store ordered carry out was reasonable. Customer service was good. Also appreciate earth-friendly packaging. Would I eat here again? Yes. I like Carribean food. I’d return to try another dish.

The setup has changed since I last visited. It is no longer a dine in restaurant. It's carryout only. It's not a bad thing. Grab some food and find a place to sit by the water. There is a river, a lake, an inlet an ocean and a bay within five minutes from here. So your food won't even be cold when you get there. Now let me tell you about the food. Everything on the menu is fantastic. My favorite it the Jerk Chicken Burrito. It's huge by the way and loaded with meat cabbage with rice and beans. The jerk chicken is tender and bursting with flavor. The coco milk rice and beans are a good balance of flavor and an excellent add on in the burrito. My other choice is the Cuban Calypso. It's loaded with pork and bacon on a nice sized piece of cocobread and pressed. This thing is so damn good! So if you are by there and lucky enough to catch them open. Stop in and grab some food to go. I promise you will not be disappointed. Hell even Guy loved it!

I’ve been coming to Virginia Beach almost monthly for the past 4 years. There is not a better meal per dollar in this city, period. Eat here as soon as you get the chance.

Amazing food! Locally-owned takeout restaurant. Try the jerk chicken burrito! And coco bread. Delicious vegetarian and vegan options (shack veggie bowl/burrito), and jerk cauliflower that you can substitute for meat to make any dish vegetarian. Staff is knowledgeable on vegan diets - they even made the coco bread vegan for me (omit butter). Guy Fieri featured Carib Shack on Diners, DriveIns and Dives on TV. It’s that good! Such friendly owners, who always remember you when you come in!

Food was fantastic and cheap compared to some of the restaurants in the area. Jerk chicken was super moist and the jerk sauce was amazing.

It's online ordering even inside the shack which is very convenient! Service was friendly & efficient as the wait was not long. However, I wanted Jerk chicken wings and there were none. My husband ordered the Jerk chicken bowl with cabbage & rice with a side of plantain (excellent in taste/texture). The Jerk chicken seemed to not have been seasoned with sufficient Jamaican spices as the sauce poured on top had a sweet catsup taste without any 'heat'! Hope other selections are better.

It was not 12 of us and we just asked a question there was need to be rude, but you reply supports my review. Treating others with respect is still the same in 1999 and in 2022.. Horrible attitude from the person in the back. Very rude!!!!! We asked if they had Cuban sandwich today, his like it's 2022 you can check the menu before coming in or you can go to the McDonald's across the street!! It's was just a question ⁉️ no need to be rude! We just walked out, no need to get to their level!

Not a fan. The food is not authentic to Trinidadian cuisine and style. The jerk chicken is actually Barbeque chicken. We are big Triple D's fans but must have made a wrong turn.. because this definitely was NOT "Flavor Town" .

We ordered Carib Shack online for lunch. The food was delicious. The cheeseburgers and tacos are yum. They even have a Shack Veggie bowl for those who don’t eat meat. Definitely worth the short drive from the boardwalk.

One of my favorite places for take out! If you like authentic food from the Caribbean you must try this place "The Carib Shack". Absolutely fantastic!! Every time!! They are consistent with quality as well as quantity. If you enjoy some spicy Caribbean food, with all different levels of heat and exceptional flavor. You must give this place a try. They are constantly adding new items to an already fairly extensive menu. Their food is always fresh, they use only the best quality meat and produce and their food is always bursting with all different flavors of the caribbean.. Should spicy items not be your first choice, then you can always find other great selections, such as their fantastic burgers. As I mentioned, this is one of my favorite local take out spots! I cannot say enough about the food and the hard working owners who consistently put out a top notch product for their customers. Did I mention they are also originally from the U.S Virgin Islands of St. Thomas. They definitely know what they are doing and we are extremely fortunate to have them in our community as a local take out restaurant.

My husband and I visited this place over 3 year span of being stationed in Virginia Beach. I am so sad to relocate and can’t pack this place and staff with me :(! Do yourself the favor of trying their delicious food! My favorite was the coco calypso with extra pickles! Close 2nd the Shack Jerk Bowl! I will miss you guys!!

My Jerk Chicken bowl was perfect. It was deliciously sweet and spicy. This is my new favorite place to eat in the area. Looking forward to trying the other dishes. After having gone here a half a dozen times I would say this is THE best takeout I’ve had in Hampton Roads. It consistently hits the spot and it’s where I always go to now when I want to really treat myself.

We came here because of the number of 5 star reviews on Google, and I'm super excited to add my own 5 star review. Carib Shack is incredibly accommodating and knowledgable about vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. We had a great meal here, the vegetarian options are totally awesome, the staff understands what "gluten free" means, and the rosemary fries were off the chizzle: I think about them when I'm having a sad and it perks me right up. Wish we could've eaten in the restaurant but as of May 2022, it's carry out only.

We decided to check this place out for take out after seeing it on TV and being close to where we were staying. My wife and my mother in law are from the islands so we were excited about trying them out. It was more of a 50/50 hit. We ordered stewed chicken, curry chicken, roti, and plantains. Roti with split peas was excellent. Plantains were also great. Chicken dish curry dish was not good. Curry was NOT cooked down enough. There was a bitter taste from it. Stewed chicken was just okay. You can tell they use fresh herbs on their meals but maybe a little more attention to detail on the cooking process.

Amazing hole in the wall. Definitely an order-and-go-outside kind of place, but only because it’s so small. It’s clean and service is quick and the food is so, so good. Can’t recommend it highly enough! Get mamma’s beef bowl, you won’t regret it!

Stopped in and got the Cubano and a burger before heading to Deadline Project Brewing for some good beer. The sandwich was amazing and the fried okra was the best I’ve had in a while. It is a “shack” in the sense that it is carry out only.

I ordered Stew beef and am very disappointed with my food and especially the customer service. I actually tried this restaurant after an awesome day at the beach. I was so hungry and excited to have some authentic Caribbean food. According to the good reviews and 5 star rating I was for sure to have a delicious meal. I ordered the Stew beef (wanted oxtails) because the cashier said “it’s the closest thing to oxtail”. That’s a Negative!!!!! The beef was so dry and the rice and peas had hardly any peas. My mouth was watering for some Jamaican food, but nope this was not it! Don’t be fooled by the great reviews, trust me don’t waste your money or time going here. And definitely don’t order the dry stew beef!!!! Honestly I would not order anything else from this establishment after the customer service (no phone number) and nasty food. It smells delicious but the taste is way off! If you know good Jamaican food you will be very disappointed. If you don’t know good Jamaican food you probably would like this awesome excuse for Caribbean food. Not authentic at all and smells better than it taste. The plantains was also awful! How do you mess up plantains???? Here’s some advice, let them ripe sweet!!! There were a few red flags that told me this place was going to be good. 1. No oxtails on the menu, 2. Cook is not Jamaican and if he is he should be ashamed of the stew beef 🤮🤮🤮🤮 3. No desserts on the menu. They have the look and smell of a good Caribbean restaurant, but fall short!!! Tik Tok and the reviews failed me!! 🙅🏽‍♀️

I've worked near this restaurant for years and have never been disappointed once! The owners are extremely personable, nice, and care about what they do. Every time I have shown up, they made absolutely sure my food is just how I wanted it, and i am always pleased by their stellar customer service. Their food is absolutely to die for, especially if you love jerk chicken or curry!!! Absolutely worth visiting if you live nearby, are passing by, or are from out of town.

Great. Spicy jerk chicken. Hot ham and cheese sandwiches for cheap on good fresh bread(this the cheap ham and cheese sammich rather than the specialty sandwiches). And good plantains, served nice and hot. The jerk chicken was juicy chunks of chicken, not dry at all. On the saucier side, sweet with good spicy kick to it, not too weak on the spicy level which I like.

I would fight a pack of wild zebras for Carib Shack’s delicious jerk chicken.

Fantastic! Portions too large to finish even after a hike at the park nextdoor. Great jerk bowls, tender meats with great seasoning and just enough heat. Excellent curry bowl, not much heat so you could appreciate the flavor. INCREDIBLE sweet plantain side, pan-fried to perfection with a tender interior and little bits of caramelized chewiness on the outside.

I found the Carib Shack on the way to Zeros Subs and decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad that I did! That was one of the best Reubens I have had! My kids had the ham and cheese and let me tell you that bread was delicious!! The only reason why I gave 4 stars was because I thought that the sandwiches would have a side item...only to discover I had to pay 3.50 for each side. That brought my total for 4 sandwiches, 3 fries, one okra, 2 waters, and 2 diet cokes to $52. That is a wee bit too much for a lunch for a family.

Best Cuban sandwich I've ever tasted. The bread is fresh and crusty on outside, chewy soft on the inside. Thinly sliced meats and cheese on the inside are outstanding! I did not care for the their cole slaw or cabbage&carrots side-dish, but nothing was wrong with them... just not to my particular taste. This restaurant is on my list of "must visits" if you come to VA Beach.

New favorite restaurant. Been here three times, this time I wanted to cry - I almost did cry - because of how amazing this food is. It’s getting to the point where before I even eat it I want to cry tears of beautiful joy. God bless this place. I have high standards, and this is it. If you don’t like it, it’s 100% your fault!!!

First time trying this spot and I will say I was PLEASED. I got the curry bowl with coconut milk rice and peas with a side of plantains. The plantains where my FAVORITE. And the portion of the food was huge. I really wish they offered more sides like Mac and cheese or yams etc but other than that it was very good.

They make a very good Cuban sandwich just like I have had in southern Florida. Their Cuban Calypso is also great with a little kick.

This is my favorite take out on shore drive! The teenager likes the cuban sandwich but we usually get the jerk pork bowl with coconut rice and some plantains.

OMG!!!...Food was SOOOO GOOOOD!!! had granny's curry chicken and it did NOT disappoint....food was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the plantains I also got were so tender that I barely had to chew!!!...I found my NEW go to spot!!!...Definitely recommend this spot!

It's worth every bit of a drive from my home to go there and it's worth every cent because of the quality and quantity along with the variety of food and drinks they offer, 5/5 I go when I can.
