Small but quaint spanish restaurant off the main strip. I liked the atmosphere, and the food was good even though they didn't have a large menu. Seems like a really chill place to hang on a hot night. I've been to PR and Cuba, so I thought the food was pretty good.

One of me and my wife’s favorite restaurants! Best steak ever! We have never had a bad meal here.

This reviews purpose is not to affect the establishment, but to warn the real Latinos and people of African descent, that this is not a true genuine Puerto Rican or Cuban restaurant. Don't let the name fool you. This restaurant/bar seems to only cater to locals. When I walked in with my wife and two daughters at 6pm, I was told to not bother to wait because they close at 9pm. That to me seem very weird as I have never heard of any establishment needing 3 hours to prep for another customer or anyone needing 3 hours to dine. As a Afro-Latino from NYC, the first thing that came to mind was all the rumors of discrimination and racism that unfortunately still happen in places like Virginia. I wasn't angry but disappointed that my daughter's had to be exposed to this type of situation at such an early age. As for me and my wife, this is not our first rodeo, but the first in a long time.

The food was amazing. I enjoyed the grilled shrimp with rice and beans. My husband had the salmon which was the catch of the day. My son had the churrasco and the pork chops. We had the bread pudding for dessert my favorite and also the tres leches. Everything was so delicious. We will definitely be back.

We have eaten here 5 times now with our children on vacation. We drive 5 hours and head right here. The food is homemade, delicious, and I highly recommend stopping if in VA beach! The shredded pork (pernil) is wonderful (with yummy rice and beans) and the beef empanadas are delicious. The salad dressing was wonderful. We also had a relleno (like a mashed potato ball stuffed with meat) which was such a pleasant surprise! It is worth the wait!

I was there with my family and hungry. They refused to provide two courtesy cups. I would have gladly paid. The waitress was simply careless about my request. I have worked in the restaurant business and know doing and giving stuff for free is not liked but I still did it.

One of my favorite places to eat in Va Beach. I go to this place every time I visit. The hours are a bit different from other places but it’s 100% worth it.

Shout out to DANNY!! She was absolutely amazing. She explained different items on the menu, sat at the table with us and chatted, had a few laughs and shared a few stories. She told us the owner is from Philly, because I told her we were from Pennsylvania. The food!!!! Omg. He makes his own recipes etc. I had the seafood/chorizo paella, it was phenomenal. The margaritas were perfect, I would 100% visit again when we are in the area ❤️

Friendly attention but extremely slow service, simplicity in the dishes... very basic, very small place... I do not recommend it..

This is a small restaurant (not in front of the beach but close) which is a nice surprise. Everything is very good : large choice of beers, good portions for the food. God price to price ratio. I really recommend this reastaurant.

Casual restaurant with excellent food. Relatively inexpensive for Virginia Beach. Mojito was probably the best I’ve had at a restaurant. Certainly for the price. Boneless pork chop was amaze-balls. I asked for it however they normally prepare it. Highly recommend the fried banana caramel cheesecake for dessert. Michelin will never visit VB - and they shouldn’t. But if they can give a star to a food truck in Bangkok, I bet they could give these guys bib. Will definitely return.

After eating some excellent Cuban food in Miami, this place left me unsatisfied. Empanada was ok but bland. The ropa vieja meat was tough and dry when the meat is supposed to be soft and almost melt in your mouth. The waitress was nice though and atmosphere was inviting and small. For the average American this place could be excellent but for me it was ok

Being from Tampa, I was wanting to try the local latin/Cuban cuisine. I saw 4.4 stars and it was close. Once I saw the "mojo" sauce on my roast pork the consistency of ranch dressing, I was worried. It tasted like it looked and the pork tasted like microwaved meat our of a bag. For me, this dish is the test of a restaurant that claims to be Cubano/ Puerto Rican. Terrible. Served with al dente green beans and white rice with so seasoning? It was awful. I don't usually go to the trouble to leave reviews but Cuban food is something I don't take lightly.

Don't let the Subway next door fool you into thinking this place has nothing to offer. I ate until it hurt and that's not something I try to do but this food was so good. My wife and I get down to Virginia Beach 2-3 times per year and this will now be a required stop. The place has been around for 15 years and I can honestly say that I regret wasting my time everywhere else. You're not going to pick anything bad on their menu. If you like garlic they've got this garlic sauce that, when they describe it, sounds like the garlic butter you get with Papa John's pizza. While I used to think that stuff was liquid crack, it's garbage compared to what Mojito's got going on but you better like your garlic. Do yourself the favor and visit this place as much as possible. I'm already planning my next meal and deserts.

Knowing that the Mojito Cafe is still around after sixteen years (and a dreadful pandemic) is truly something to take comfort in. Tonight my wife and I returned to one of our favorite spots on Pacific Ave in Virginia Beach to enjoy beef empanadas, fish tacos, Latin vegetable fricassee and dessert. Oh, a few traditional Mojitos were enjoyed as well. The food, all around, was simply incredibly well prepared and beautifully presented. Fresh ingredients and copious amounts of love and care made the entire dining experience fantastic. The fish tacos were perfect. Light and flavorful. The surrounding filling was excellent. The beans and rice were perfectly seasoned and certainly not overcooked. The Latin vegetable fricassee was comfort food on another level. Crunchy veges with a nice side of rice, seasoned and sauced perfectly. It hit a spot I didn't realize needed hitting. Look, I understand that it's all subjective. Especially food. But, if quality matters. If caring matters - then do yourself a favor and find the Mojito Cafe on Pacific Ave the next time you're in or near Virginia Beach. Edwin, the cooks and the entire staff are doing something right.

So, me and my friend dropped by this place with regular expectations. I decided to roll with the steak of the day and finished it off with some bread pudding. I was truly impressed with the presentation and how juicy and tender the steak was! The dessert was the same way, flavor full and prepared to perfection. Dinner and dessert deserve, without a doubt, 5 stars. My friend went for the pork sandwich (not the Cubano one) and was a 100% happy. We're definitely planning an encore this trip. Next time, I'm aiming to try the Cubano sandwich and some plantains!

Went here for a quick drink before dinner and ended up staying for the entire night. It was very unassuming and we ended up finding it was our favourite place in VB. The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely. We had plantaine, pork belly, and empinadas. It was all so delicious. Mojitos didn’t disappoint. I would highly recommend the rum flight. I had the Dominican version and it was so good. I can’t wait to go back.

So good! Great little dive Cuban restaurant. The food was authentic and delicious. It's small and it wasn't too crowded. Service was top notch. There were two waitresses/bartenders/hostesses who were attentive and pretty much great. And the banana cheesecake carmel thing was incredible.

The menu looks and sounds amazing. Maybe it was an off night. But the plates left a lot to be desired. Would try again if we returned to town.

Wonderful little place that's big on atmosphere and taste. Server came quickly and so did the food, which was delicious. I had the Cuban and my wife and the Ropa Vieja. Very pleased and well recommended!

This is in my top 3 favorite restaurants in Virginia Beach. We go here pretty regularly. My only problem is that the Ropa Vieja is so good that I can't bring myself to try the rest of the menu very often. The staff is always super nice. The house hot sauce is yummy if you can handle it (I can't really but I like to pretend). Highly highly recommend. But don't go when I go bc I want the bar seats for myself.

Great food, reasonable prices, friendly waitresses. Our go to spot when we come to the beach. Refreshing hand made mohitos, not a mix! We've eaten pretty much everything on the menu at one point or another.. it's all good. Manchego flat bread and grilled mahi tacos are our typical order, but also love the empanadas and the guava bbq Salmon. The banana cheesecake with caramel will have you licking the plate! Tiny, but worth the wait.

This has been one of the best dining experiences I've had in a very long time. Mojito Cafe provides the perfect storm of dining experiences as it relates to excellent dining 1. Great atmosphere 2. Great food 3. Great service..getting all thrèe things at once is a rare occurrence anywhere these days. Owners Edwin and Lisa are personable hosts, in combination with the other ladies on the staff, creates the image of dining in a private home as their private guest. My friends and family members will certainly become regulars here, the word is out.

The cubano was solid the tostones needed some flavor. The staff is friendly. It's a good spot to eat at.

You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not eat at this restaurant when visiting Virginia beach. To start the staff is excellent. Ellie at the front of the house has amazing energy and definitely makes you feel welcome and gives you great suggestions on what to order. She is one of the best customer facing servers I've had in as long as I can remember. Edwin the chef/owner is a master at his art. This menu is simple but everything is delicious. You could see how seriously he takes the preparation of the food. Lisa, the manager/owner, runs tight ship and make sure that everything is done to perfection. You can tell they've put a lot of time into the atmosphere of the restaurant. The place is small and cozy but is very comfortable and well appointed. Everything I ate here was very delicious and it's one of the restaurants kind of sends me into a bit of a depression because I know I will not be back in Virginia Beach to enjoy their food again anytime soon. I got to the restaurant near closing and didn't want to keep them any later than I already had so I asked what was already prepped and ready to go. I ended up ordering the bread pudding. I was told that they were out of whipped cream so Edwin was making it by hand. I felt bad but I'll tell you what, that whipped cream was delicious. The bread pudding was phenomenal. Edwin and Lisa please keep up the great work.

We just love this place. Excellent mojitos, I usually get the steak chimmichurri and my wife usually gets the chicken chimmichurri (different chimmichurri recipes for each). Friendly staff, quite informal, a good place to unwind and grab a tasty bite.

Fantastic little restaurant on the corner of 28th and Pacific. We visited twice during the week we were in Va Beach and both times were amazing. The food was authentic and delicious. Portions were generous. The service was wonderful and both times we were greeted with smiles and served efficiently. If you are in the Virginia Beach area and are looking for an authentic Puerto Rican dining experience, go here!

Tiny space, but huge flavors! Very reasonably priced. Delicious fish tacos, guava bbq salmon, Cuban sandwich, tostones, and more - all while sipping refreshing handmade Mohitos. Don't leave without the trees leches cake or the crispy fried banana cheesecake (which sits on some of the best homemade caramel sauce ever). It never disappoints.

Our favorite place. Just a block from the beach. A chef-owned hole in the wall with great food, service, and a fantastic rum selection!

Edwin, the owner and his fiancée Lisa provided a warm welcoming ambiance. The service provided by Heather was exceptional as well as the new server, so sorry I don't remember her name but awesome beautiful smile. For Edwin being the only cook the level of service and quality of food and drinks was absolutely delicious and awesome. I ate the camarones al ajillio and my husband had the ropa vieja. The quantity for the price were perfect. The taste of everything was phenomenal. The location was perfect from our hotel. Thank you everyone we wish you must success.

We walked from our hotel to go to eat at Mojito Cafe. We were so disappointed when we read the sign on the door that the restaurant was closed. Oh well there is always next year...I hope!!

Mojito Cafe is an absolute winner. This small establishment, has 6 4 top tables inside and several larger tables on the outside patio. Even with a limited menu due to short staff in the kitchen, the food was fantastic! Maduro Pork Bites (sweet fried plantains topped with shredded pork and 3 different sauces: chimichurri, barbeque, and garlic) and an Cream Cheese & Olive Empanada for starters. Fish tacos and Camarones al Aljillo (shrimp in garlic lime sauce) with black beans and rice. Mojitos of course. Tres Leches so moist & flavorful for dessert. Our server, Heather, was in training and did a fabulous job.

Food was good but it wasn't what we were expecting. For what we ordered the bill came out a little pricey, besides they added the gratuity, a little bit too much as well.

Everything was so good, we went back the next day. This was one of the best restaurants in Virginia Beach. Real Puerto Rican cuisine like you get in N.Y. The food, staff, surroundings and even the music was amazing!

I tried the Ropa Vieja along with a Watermelon Mojito and it was right on point!!! The tostones that came with the entree which I am picky about came out perfect nice and crunchy. Highly recommend this location for some great food and great drinks. The staff was friendly and attentive felt like I was in a local place back home. Definitely will visit again if I’m in the area again.

This place added 20% "service charge" for our take-out order. I've never seen any restaurant in the US doing that. The food was just OK.

AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS DRINKS. We tried the seasonal mojito and caipirinha (amazing drink). I recommend the beef empanadas, they go well with drinks. We were also able to try conch fritters which i was pretty curious about. We arrived right as they opened for an early dinner which I think was the perfect time since the space is small and undoubtably fills up fast. The staff was incredibly friendly and full of suggestions if you're not sure what to order. I loved this place.

Some of the best Cuban food I have ever tasted. I ordered the Pernil and it was deliciously mouth watering, and what better to go with the food than their super signature monitors. Definitely makes you want to come back for more .

Fantastic restaurant! I ordered the Guava Barbecue Salmon and it is the most delicious Sauce on a Salmon I have ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection!

Mojito Cafe is always the first restaurant we visit when we vacation at Virginia Beach!! Always fantastic food and service!! The mojitos are delicious and the empanadas and Mofungo are some of our favorites. We have never had a bad meal here.

My husband and I were looking specifically for empanadas, which were on the menu as an appetizer, which was fine, but we were expecting more of an empanada shop. They were ok but I have had better.

Loved this place. I got the pork chop. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. Drinks were amazing. Staff was fun, friendly and knew the menu well. I loved my drinks and had a great time.

Don’t let the unassuming vibe fool you! From the house mojitos to the empanadas and beyond - every bit was fresh, high quality ingredients, perfectly seasoned and done. This is exactly the kind of place I’m always hoping to find but rarely do.

Worth the visit and a come back to Mojito in Virginia Beach. I met with a good old friend today. We had cuban sandwiches, conch fritters, maduro pork bites, tomato manchego flatbread, and salmon with black beans and white rice. The food was succulent, the cafe is small and with a homie feeling. Check Tito was doing a great job at the Cocina. I was so please with my food that I had to meet him. Our waitress name was Ivy, she did a great job meeting and exceeding our expectations. Without a doubt, I will be back to Mojito.
