Our meals were exceptional. It truly was a fine dining experience. Steve, our waiter, was very friendly and attentive. My husband and I very much enjoy the Chantecleer.

Our favorite restaurants in our area. The food is unparalleled and so is the wait staff service.

Leaving this revue is hard. I had high expectations after being recommended by a local to try this establishment. We canceled other reservations to do just that. Upon arrival it's a rustic quaint little place off the country road with a warm not to bright feeling when you enter. It was colder out so their fire was going it was fairly busy. All was seemingly great so far. Was welcomed than seated promptly to end up with the waitress that obviously we were a burden to. As not one time did she smile. Sounded like it was a hassle to say the different specials and salads for the night. When suggested this place I researched their website not google to see the menu. Venison and duck wasn't available as per their own website. Ok, that's understandable. It was the sourness of the reply with no real follow up or suggestion towards something else. Refilling drinks were almost obsolete as well as her attention to customer satisfaction. Unfortunately the only thing appetizing at the time was the pepper corn NY strip. Not that it wasn't cooked to great taste and as ordered because it was. But the entire experience with the waitress left me and mom turned almost bitter over it. No appetizers, no dessert, and didn't come for a steak that I should have been able to get at a local chain restaurant that was $59 by itself, and oh it came with mashed potatoes. Yay! Sorry for the sarcasm. Yes, it is a jab. Didn't receive even a thanks and come again or we appreciate your business. Waitress i believe her name was Michelle. Which I won't. If your reading this and feel I might be a harsh person, please feel free to read my review on anything else and you will see I'm not usually this cynical. I pray you at least have a better experience for the monies and time you spend expecting a joyful time.

Great Drinks, Food and service. Just too expensive !!!

We had the best celebration of my mother’s birthday at this restaurant. The food and service were impeccable. The menu was so varied and had something for everyone, I definitely want to come back and try other things on their menu! Tammy was our waitress and she was fabulous, she made my mom feel so special and even included a surprise dessert. Thank you to Tammy, the rest of the staff and chefs! Highly recommend this restaurant to others.

A mandatory stop for EVERYONE coming even close to traveling near or through Vermont.

Waited 20 minutes at the entrance for a table reserved in advance, returned the same dish 4 times before the kitchen got it right. Which could be forgiven if we were offered some accomodation, just so we wouldn't feel so disrespected. Totally not worth it.

Great owners, great food, great service

I just got back from a trip to St. Martin in March where I ate escargot almost every day. The escargot here was by far the best I’ve ever tasted from anywhere!

Food was delicious! Loved the escargot & seared tuna. Steak tartare also delicious. Great ambience as well.

Dinner was perfect. Staff attentive and friendly. A great night out.

The nastiest woman in the world answered the phone finally after 3 days of trying to tell me "we are busy and full" and then just hung up. Take your business elsewhere.

Fine dining at its best. My escargot was mouthwatering and lamb cooked to perfection. We came here for a company party and thought it was the perfect atmosphere for the occasion. The restaurant is thoughtfully decorated, warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant for formal occasions!

Great food, great service, great ambiance. It was our first time there, and we would definitely go back. One thing: we were not aware of how dressy it would be. Most men were in blazers and women in dresses.

Thank you for the beautiful meal, wonderful atmosphere and impeccable service. The food was quite possibly the best we've ever had. The crispy duck appetizer was incredible as was the escargot, and the Dover sole and rack of lamb was just amazing. I'm quite certain that every time we come to Vermont we will be dining at Chantecleer.

A gem! I think this place was probably the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Ask for the sole they fillet it in front of you. All the desserts are made in house and they’re all fantastic. I think it’s worth any trek to come here

This is a new favorite of ours. We got a full course + drinks and loved every bit of it. Probably some of the best lamb chops I've had and the duck was perfectly cooked and delicious. We'll definitely be back

Absolutely amazing. Everything is delicious. Even the oysters taste better than anywhere else, plus the wine list is solid.

I’d like to give Chantecleer more than 5 stars. My husband and I ate there last night on our last night of our Vermont mini- getaway. First of all, one of the few places in Manchester that answers the phone courteously and warmly when making a reservation. Secondly, the inside and outside decor is transportive to a French countryside rustic beauty home. Thirdly, the hostess and wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly and unfussy. And, the food is PERFECTION!!! The best lamb and duck we have ever eaten anywhere! The European salad was everything a great French maman would get from her garden to feed her family. The Dijon dressing was unlike any other I’ve ever had. The dinner rolls were warm, crusty and airy all at the same time. The Cote de Rhône red wine was smooth with a soft bouquet. The mashed potato’s and rice pilaf were elevated taste and texture. And the pumpkin profiterole and pumpkin ice cream/ cider donut dessert was uncloyingly sweet , satisfying and rounded out all the tastes on the menu. We are now back in Queens, NY wistfully thinking about making sure we get back to beautiful VT and dinner every night we are there at Chanticleer. All the best to you and your staff.

A fabulous place. I once recommended it to a restaurant owner from my Long Island town as he was going to visit Vermont. He did go there and told me it was one of the best restaurants he ever experienced. Extraordinary high praise.

One of the fun things about going up to Southern Vermont is that every time I go I find a new fun eatery that I didn't know existed the previous time I had been there. Such is the case with Chanticleer. The food is well priced, with good sized portions and the service is excellent. Our server, Tammy, was very attentive without being overly solicitous. My sense is that locals eat here on a very regular basis. I have no doubt that as long as there is no shut down again this place should continue to do well. I certainly hope so and I certainly plan to go back again.

Debi our server, to the tartare app, to my med rsre rack of lamb to the creme brulee' and Cindies Chicken dish were outstanding.

Food was amazing! We had the steak tartare, veal schnitzel, and pork loin sambocca. Beyond our expectations! Never expected the food quality and service to be as good as it was but ridiculously delicious!

Best meal in Manchester are. #2 in SoVt. In a town of mediocre food, Chanticleer stands out as someone who cares about what they serve and how they serve it. The Queen and I visit frequently and probably sit at the bar half the time.

We were in Manchester with a group over Columbus Day weekend. With a party of 8 we had serious service mishaps at every meal. Chanitcleer was the only place that got it right! And the menu is to die for. It was a fabulous evening that I am still thinking about!

Consistently the best prepared food whether it is lamb or fish.There are always a few entree selections on the menu that make me wish I was coming back 3 or 4 nights in a row. The same is true for appetizers and deserts. The wine list has something for every taste. My favorite place!

Doesn’t get much better than this for fine dining in VT. Prepare to pay handily, but it’s worth it. Don’t miss Thursday’s burger special!

Best meal outside my own place of work, in 35 years.

This place is really something - a diamond in the boonies. I got the parmesan crusted halibut and it is actually still sitting in front of me now. Not because I do not want to finish it - no - but because I find comfort in knowing this dish still exists in front of me. Have any of you seen Ratatouille? The scene where the critic eats the dish and he gets taken back to his childhood and he remembers all of the pure goodness he knew? That is where I'm at. My hat is really off to the chef on this one. Seriously, I'm tempted to leave my actual hat here for the chef. There are so many good things to say about this place that I could keep writing all night. But alas, my halibut is getting cold. 5 stars. Bravo.

Meh, I'm not sure what the big deal is.....this said it was very busy for a Friday night so obviously popular. I guess I read one too many reviews about how high end it was, neither service or food was, was not bad.....just not high end (also think we might be a decade or two below the 60+ demographic)

Visited here on their Hamburger night. We were shuttled to the bar area and sat at the bar. We don't drink and everyone else did. The barmaid made us feel comfortable though. The crowd seemed cliquey and we did not fit in. the hamburger was good, but not worth the $20 we were charged. I miss the Perfect Wife.

Best fine dining spot in Manchester for decades

Wow. We just had dinner for the first time and it was excellent! We came in on a mid-week night in the middle of a snow storm and the place was half full, we sat on the side that was not full (empty) next to Dennis the penguin. It was a little awkward with us being the only ones on that side of the dining room, there were lots of chickens everywhere, and the background elevator music was really something but once we got used to it man that was a great meal. Our hostess/waitress was super welcoming, totally on top of the experience, and the service was excellent. The food start to finish was excellent too. The escargot was amazing, so garlicky, and perfectly cooked. The schnitzel was very light and tender, sirloin was cooked dead on perfect med rare and a very nice cut, and both the fries and spatzle where very tasty. Oh, best side/starter salad ever. Can't wait to go back!

Tammy was great. My wife loved the Dover sole. Funny that wasn't on any of the menus around Mt. Snow.

When asked for gluten free options, staff lied by stating 'panko' was not gluten and after assurances, we ordered the mussels and it came with bread on top. Also $14 split plate charge was not disclosed in advance

Incredible food in a quintessential Vermont setting. Not cheap, but we'll worth it for a special occasion or just wanting a great meal.

We went for our 20th anniversary knowing this was the best restaurant in the area and it still blew us away.

So here is the deal. Im giving this a 5 star and we havent even received the bread yet. So far best meal in manchester area for 10 years. For us...they have been here for over 30 i believe. We try others but always come back here. Its the real deal. Everything always consistant.

The Best Restaurant in Vermont! I have eaten in cities across the world from NYC to London, Paris, Athens and Rome... and Chantecleer is easily one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. Chantecleer is chef owned and chef ran. If the restaurant is open Chef is cooking and this makes for consistency -- which many other restaurants, especially in Vermont, do not have. I have been eating here for more than 10 years and every single time I come away saying, "That was one of the best meals I have had in years!" Everything is delightful... the food, the staff and the atmosphere. If you are in the Manchester area this is a must stop!

Probably the best pork chop I have ever had and the dessert was one of the best too.
