Wonderful experience! Clean restaurant, exceptional service, and the food…. Oh my!!! This was not our first time, nor will it be our last. Everything was cooked to perfection. Veal stuffed ravioli with shiitake mushroom cream sauce. I had halibut with tomatoes and capers. Potatoes and delicious green beans. You can’t go wrong eating here!!

We just love Ciao Capri. It’s our special date night spot and we don’t feel overly-full after we have a 3 course meal, bread, and drinks. It feels like an Italian grandma is making you a homemade meal from her seaside Italian hometown. The service had been good every time we visit, too.

My new favorite Italian restaurant. A few reviews said that the service was sketchy and the food was bland. Don’t believe it. I’m Italian and I can tell you the food is excellent. Fresh, and very creative. Delicious sauces. Lots of daily specials. The service was very attentive I felt like I was back in Italy. Alberto, the owner , circulates through the restaurant and makes everyone feel at home. My 12 yo daughter ( who is a foodie) said it was the best restaurant experience in Richmond that she ever had. Can’t wait to go back!!! BTW, BEST cannolis EVER!

We absolutely loved this place. Some of the best Italian food we’ve had in town along with top notch service. Lisa was super helpful and had great recommendations. We will definitely be back.

Ciao Capri is the best authentic Italian food in RVA This is a small, family owned restaurant so be sure to call for reservations. The food is delicious, the service impeccable. If you are on their email list, you will be notified when they are serving fresh halibut. The specials are always fabulous.

Do yourself a favor and go try this place. I read the reviews and we decided to try it for date night. This little place has the most amazing food with great service. The owners and staff make you feel like family! They walk around and speak to everyone. I love this place. Kitchen closes at 8 so get there early!

First time here. The place is clean, nice and welcoming. The staff was so welcoming and explained the menu and specials. I ordered a mocktail and that’s the star. Can not believe it was a non-alcohol drink when you look at it. Ravioli was flavorful, tomato base goes well with it. Loved it too. Regular customers will talk with you and it’s nice to talk with them. Unique experience. Reserve ahead. Don’t forgot to check the specials menu ..

Their biggest weakness is the limited menu. I had high hopes because of the small cafe atmosphere, and apparently many regulars were in the place. The staff called some of the customers by name. But the food was a disappointment. A solid three stars at best.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food, however, did not meet our expectations. We were very much looking forward to our evening, particularly due to the glowing reviews. I've never had authentic Italian food, so I cannot speak to how closely this measures up. I can say that what we had was very bland. The bread was bland and came with an olive oil and parsley dip, no seasoning. The calamari was cooked perfectly, but had no flavor. The tomato dipping sauce that came with them was watery. For my main, I had the taglioline nerano, a popular dish recommended by our waitress. It pretty much just tasted like noodles in butter. The shrimp themselves really had no flavor. My wife had the scallops, which were cooked perfectly, but came with an overabundance of risotto, which she said tasted like it had no salt at all. I've been to Ireland and had authentic Irish food and a lot of it was bland, so I know some other countries don't season their food as much as we Americans do. But as much as I appreciate authenticity, I also want food that tastes good. The service and the surroundings were great, but I think I'll stick with Olive Garden.

Alberto was welcoming to everyone who entered the restaurant, and Lisa was patient and attentive to our needs (even providing refills without asking). My dad enjoyed his birthday, and I will visit again!

Have found d the food to be consistently good thus I dine there fairly often. Prices are reasonable. The folks who operate the restaurant are great!

Ciao Capri is a beautifully authentic Italian restaurant tucked away in henrico. We were seated by the window, table beautifully set for 5. The owner was so friendly and welcoming to us. We enjoyed a complimentary bottle if wine (moscato) that was very nice. The appetizers were Caprese salad, very fresh and nice tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, and Calamari. Our entrees were, Risotto ai Frutti di Mare, Ravioli Quattro Formagg,and Taglioline Nerano (shrimp,pasta in a prolova cheese sauce) everything was very good. I recommend trying this place for a romantic dinner for two.

Great service from Diego (our server). Everyone was friendly even the chef. The food was scrumptious! The blueberry/lemon cheesecake was delectable. The food was so good I ordered several meals to go and another slice of cheesecake. The food was very fresh and the pasta was homemade. Con: menu very limited but I guess that’s why they are able to focus on making everything scrumptious. They do have daily/weekly chef specials that’s definitely a plus. Sorry no pic of my meal . It was so good I just dived right in.

Food was honestly terrible! My dish tasted like it was soaking in olive oil. Also, the food was bland. I won't be going there again, or suggesting that anyone eats at this establishment!!

Lisa was absolutely amazing!! She had the biggest smile and most infectious personality! The food was amazing and the staff was extremely accommodating. I am NOT disappointed that I drove all the way out there after seeing 5 star reviews!! You won't be disappointed either!!!!

My wife and I have come here for years. It is, by far, our favorite restaurant. The food, the atmosphere and the service are outstanding. Very intimate.

Good Italian food.... great service

This is the best Italian food in central Virginia. I routinely take my family here for the best selection of authentic Italian food. The specials are amazing as well. The staff is very attentive and even during this awful pandemic, they are fully committed to being the best restaurant in the area. This is a must eat restaurant if you are in Henrico.

Food that brings you back to Italy! I took my wife here for her birthday dinner, which is risky: trying a new restaurant on a special occasion. Adding some levels of difficulty to this endeavor: - My wife was trained to cook in two different culinary schools in Italy. - My last name is Capri. - We were married on the Island of Capri, in Italy! All this to say that we were invested & our expectations were HIGH!!! But the Mastromano brothers were born on Capri, and grew up there! And that comes through in the food! Not only is the food amazing, but the portions are, in true Italian-stereotypical fashion: bigger than you thought they would be! My wife loved the wine pairing, saying that it was the perfect complement to what she ordered. Everything was fresh and wonderfully flavorful: from the ciabatta rolls and fresh pesto dip they brought with our drinks; to the meatballs (Polpetti di Peppino) we had as our appetizer; to our main courses (Ravioli Quattro Formaggi & Fettuccini al Ragú); to my wife’s cheesecake and the best cannoli I have ever had! At the end of the night, we said “Ciao Capri!” But, not for long!

So excited to find this place! If you've ever lived in or visited Italy and are missing it you will find some nostalgia eating here. It's a cozy restaurant with romantic lighting, calm atmosphere, friendly staff, traditional Italian food w/beautiful seafood & pasta dishes. When we walked in the door we noticed the soft Italian music playing in the background and the walls covered in gorgeous pictures of the island of Capri. Even though we arrived 15 minutes early they seated us immediately. Our server brought us water and fresh bread with a nice parsley and garlic dipping sauce to enjoy while we looked at the menu. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the dishes and quickly rattled off at least 4 or 5 specials that they were having that night. After looking at the menu for about 10 minutes my sister noted that this was probably the 1st time she's been to a restaurant where she wanted to try every single dish on the menu! The wine selection was a bit limited then I'm used to for an Italian restaurant but it did have some nice options. I initially ordered the Nebbiolo but since they were out (a popular choice) I ended up trying their Nero D’Avola. Both lovely Italian wines you don't typically see at restaurants in NC. For our primi piatti we settled on one of the specials, Cozze in Bianco (mussels simmered in white wine, butter, garlic, parsley) and the Polpette di Peppino (meat balls in Chiummenzana sauce). Both recieved 2 thumbs up from the table. The sauce for the mussels was so good that people were spooning it into their mouths. For the secondi our table ordered the Tagliolini Nerano (which was the favorite of the majority of our party, but not necessarily your typical Italian dish). Surprisingly it was the sweet fried zucchini garnish that everyone really commented on. We also ordered Ravioli con Aragosta (w/Lobster) which was one of the specials of the night. The table next to us kept saying how heavenly they were so we decided to try some. This was also a favorite at our table. The only critique was that the stuffing was more like a puree and while the taste of lobster was there it was lacking the chunks of flesh you would typically bite into in Italy. So while it was delicious, adding a little more lobster and texture would have made it exceptional! However, considering the price of the dish it was extremely reasonable for what it was. I admit we stayed on the conservative side with our orders ending with the Gamberi Arrabiata -Shrimp sautéed with white wine, shaved garlic, plum tomato and crushed red pepper flakes, tossed with lingui​ne. After having lived in Italy for the last three years it was exciting to eat here. Everything was excellent and next time we plan to be a little more adventurous with our choices and maybe try the rockfish or lemon risotto with scallops; which also come highly recommended. I might add that the one thing that contributed the most to this authentic feel was the fact that one of the co-owners was there on the floor interacting with all the guests. This is very typical of a restaurants in Italy. Owners talk to their customers, and are constantly aware of orders; it keeps the quality of service and satisfaction high. We met one of the owners, Alberto. He stopped our table a couple times asking how our food was, what our favorite dish was and even cracked a few jokes making us laugh. He was so personable and even took the time to pose in a picture with us, which really says a lot about his commitment to his customers. My only other request was that they didn't offer any vegan/vegetarian options (other than a salad) which is really important with today's growing market. While their kitchen may be accommodating to prepare something for a vegan/vegetarian guest, it would be nice not to have to request a special order and just be able to order it off the menu. It would be nice to add a simple tagliatelle ai funghi, Gnocchi alla sorrentina, or orecchiette di cime di rapa or any of the many traditional vegetarian dishes. We are definitely looking forward to our next meal there.

I have no idea why I hadn't heard of this place (probably because we live 30 min away) but it was amazing. If you are in the Richmond area and looking for great Italian - look no further! The service was amazing - attentive, able to answer questions about the food and really explain dishes, and so friendly! I had read other reviews about the great food but it was even better than we expected. Each dish had it's own sauce - it definitely was NOT lazy Italian where the same sauce is used on everything. The clams were unbelievable, the lasagna was perfectly constructed with the right amounts of cheese, meat, sauce, and fresh pasta, and the ravioli were delicious! They also have a great wine list and made a perfect negroni. We will definitely be going back again and again!

Ciao Capri is a truly authentic family run Italian restaurant with fantastic food and a great ambiance and environment to go with it. Co-owner Alberto along his brother Peppino Mastromano do a fabulous job providing award winning cuisine while making their guests feel like family. Peppino is the head chef and Alberto runs the front of the restaurant. It is clear from the attentiveness and warmth of the staff that they have been doing this a very long time and know how to make guests feel welcome. The bar area is very well done and is large enough to sit 20+ guests while the dinning room has dim lights and beautiful photos of Italy making you feel like you are there. I started off with a great glass of red wine and also an eggplant appetizer which was delicious and fresh bread with fresh home made pesto was a staple being offered to everyone with a flavorful imported buttery olive oil. I had the ravioli for dinner which include fresh made pasta and a delicious tomato sauce and then finished dinner with home made cannoli's. Dinner was magnificent and the service and Alberto's personal attention made us feel like regular clients even though it was my first time there. Even though this place is located in a shopping mall the interior decorating and warm friendly vibe will make you think you are in a small cafe in Capri, the island where both of the Mastromano brothers are from originally and you will definitely be coming back to visit again. Great for families, friends and couples. Be sure to say hi to Alberto and ask for his advice for a great wine as we did - you will not be disappointed!

Service is excellent. Food was prepared to perfection. Definitely enjoyed the meal, I had one of the specials...salmon and my wife had the veal. It was a joy eating food that wasn't overcooked or undercooked, just right. Honestly you don't find that much anymore in this area. The reason for four stars is I need to see consistency before I give five stars. A couple can eat for about $60, more when you add drinks.

I visited Ciao Capri for the first time last week. It was a Thursday and they told us the bottle of wines are half price on Thursday! Lucky us. We surely enjoyed a bottle recommended by them along our delicious handmade dishes. The owner & his family are so friendly and kind. I would love to go back again very soon!

Can't say enough good things about Ciao! Great food, wine and a very welcoming, intimate atmosphere. A hidden gem a little off the beaten path. Don't miss it! I highly recommend reservations as its loyal patrons keep it busy. Most time s you can walk right in and get a table or sit at the bar, but it can fill up fast and it's better to be safe than sorry!

My Friday night spot. I've always had a great meal. In fact, I've had some meals that were so good they're beyond description. Pepino's, chef/owner, preparation and sauces are outstanding. For me it's like Cheers, they know my name. Alina and Alberto, owner, are out front and are very engaging. I highly recommend it for the excellent food, wine, service and ambience.

What a wonderful and unique Gem to find. The owners and staff make you feel like home and the food will melt in your mouth. This is exactly what I look for when I think of a unique freshly cooked Italian meal that cannot be matched anywhere else.

This is a temporary rating until I can actually go back and really try the place. Read further... So my family and I go here at about 5 p.m. and we figured we would be fine at such a time without a reservation. When we walk in the front door there is literally only 1 table in the whole place with people sitting at it. So we think great we won't even need to wait. We ask to be seated and are told that they are too busy to be able to seat us..... With 1 table currently eating and the rest empty. We were astounded. They claimed they had a lot of 6pm reservations, but to me it just seems like bad business to turn away guaranteed clients when 90% of your place is completely empty. They flat turned us away, didn't even offer an alternative like wait 15 mins or let us seat you in the back near the kitchen or anything. We ended up going a mile down the street to another great Italian place we loved (Chianti) and spent over $300 on food wine deserts and tips, wish we could have given the business to the place we had originally planned on eating. Make a reservation regardless of when you want to eat here I guess or be ready to be upset by their wait policy.

Food is true Italian perfection!

I took my wife and Father to Ciao Capri last night and we were "blown away" by this restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The customer service was the best and so friendly. I cannot stop thinking about the experience. Of course the most memorable part was the food , extremely delicious and obviously unique to this restaurant. I will definitely be going back and I highly recommend !!!

I just had the most wonderful dinner at Ciao Capri. The calamari appetizer with a grilled tomato broth was outstanding. I wanted to sip the broth but had some wonderful bread to dip instead. The calamari was tender and the broth very flavorful. The seared scallops over a lemon risotto were incredible. The scallops tender and sweet with the risotto perfectly cooked with a hint of lemon. It was one of those meals that you know the next morning you will wake up wanting more. The portions plentiful (I brought home the rest of my meal so I will be able to enjoy again tomorrow - Yippee). The atmosphere had an elegant metropolitan style. The owner, Alberto, was very welcoming and the staff engaging. I highly recommend everyone go and enjoy this gem of a restaurant. :-)
