Small family owned corner find. A place where regulars are called by name and new visitors are treated like family. Fast service and great food. Samples of home made soup were amazing. Chili sauce was on point and not spicy at all. I’m really glad I stumbled on this gem.

Coney Express is a family owned Mishawaka business that has been in Michiana since 1972. Tim & Rachael are the owners and greet you with a smile when you enter thru their doors because they appreciate your patronage. Naturally one of the favorites is a Coney dog, a delicious combination of a steamed bun with a hot dog & coney sauce on top, you can add onions, cheese & mustard but you NEVER put ketchup on a hot dog unless your under the age of ten!😳😂 If you’re not into hot dogs you can choose from bratwurst, polish sausage, chicken, tenderloins, egg salad, tuna salad & BLT’s & that’s just the ones I remember eating. They also offer salads for vegetarians. Check out their daily soup specials too. Their NEWEST addition is their mobile cart located in the heart of downtown South Bend so you can enjoy numerous choices without having to drive to Mishawaka. Soups are the best. Love their specials and variety of brats and hot dogs. Another favorite is the walking tacos. Where can 2 people eat for 14.00 these days!!

I got their soup of the day called: pizza soup and loved it even a 10 year old wouldn’t think the spice was too bad. And my sister’s chicken sandwich was delicious 🤤 too… even the smell of both would make you feel joy 🙂 I like there Hi-C drink called popp’n pink lemonade… But can anyone think of something to substitute the word popp’n? Like: mystical Or magic 🪄 or pinken / pink’n or something more interesting like thee best names i like are: orange swirl - it isn’t really one… But it should be? Because doesn’t it sound awesome 😀👌? i could take pictures… But can’t send them to this website because they have WiFi but who wants to get up and down of there seats while eating and being in a rush…

I put in a large take out order for the Lexus store. Everything was great, except they forgot one sandwich. When I called back I told them they forgot a sandwich. They not only acknowledged the mistake but drove the sandwich to the Lexus store. Amazing customer service!

I come here once a week for 2 coney dogs with slaw, and an order of FF. I also put hot sauce on my hotdog's. As a boy my family visited my grandparents in Alabama, Florence to be exact. There was a place similar to Coney Island and had a slaw that was a perfect blend of spice that had a little heat to it. This slaw topped with Red hot sauce brought back some of that taste and it is imperative that I go back as much as possible. Also the soups are very good, service is the best and the owner doesn't mind me Being a Packer fan. Shout out to my Packer Brother who is a great asset to the establishment.

This place really brought me back to my Chicago roots ! It was super clean inside, and the food was amazing and fresh! Staff was very friendly and fast service! I got the vegan dog Chicago style and Greek fries! I will be back for sure!!! Try it out!!!

Best hot dogs in the area and delicious soups

Love how they have speciality dogs. The holiday or Thanksgiving dog was very good and filling.

Looks like an old diner. Has really good food (Hotdogs, soups, grilled cheese and more). The staff were friendly, helpful with the menu as it was my first time there. They even have footlong hotdog!! We will be visiting again!

My son and I came here for lunch last Friday. The food was amazing and Dana our server was awesome. She was so attentive, kind and made sure we had everything we needed. All of the staff at Coney Express are so friendly and make you feel at home. I will definitely recommend this fine establishment to my friends and family. The highlight of our meal was the homemade bowl of clam chowder we got. It was one of the best clam chowders, I had outside of Boston. We definitely will comeback to try all the other homemade soups. The chili cheese tater tots and coney dogs were delicious. Parking was ample in the plaza.

I've been eating here for decades. It's my favorite place for soup and hot dogs but they have other great things too. A must try for families! Parking is rarely a problem and handicapped accessible.

If you're looking for a quick bit and want some good food then this is the spot for you! I've been coming here since I was a kid with my parents when we would go to Notre Dame men's basketball games or if we were in the area and wanted a quick bite. I've seen different faces of people in charge of the joint but one thing remains the same and that is the food. The Coney dogs are good, the fries are good, and I'd put those onion rings up any orher onion ring out there. The atmosphere is another thing that has stayed the same but has slightly changed. It is good to see that the Blackhawks are starting to creep in on the walls (too much Red Wings stuff) but that is the only change that I have noticed.

I didn't know that this place still existed!! Same owner's as when it was in Scottsdale mall. The food was amazing. The service was impeccable. We had 2 soups, potato and cabbage. The owner was amazing and gave us clam chowder to go!! This will definitely be my new go-to spot!! You want good food, service and prices head here. Everyone in the family will love it. Headed back next week for the pork tenderloiin knowing it will not disappoint!

If your like me I'd rather eat bologna then fast food!! If your looking for a homey, comfy, and friendly atmosphere with home cooked twists, this is the place when on grape road. Try the home made cauliflower cheese soup, even with the coney dog was delicious. Staff is friendly yet professional and made me feel like ......at home.

The people were very nice but i found the hot dog to be tasteless, the fries were almost cooked all the way but not quite. I also got a loose meat burger which was also pretty bland. The resturant has a friendly atmosphere but food was nothing memorable.

Great lunch from the second you walk in with a pleasant greeting from the woman at the counter. It was my first time there and the employees were all so kind and explained everything about the menu items. You order at the counter and find a seat at the cute seating area decorated with some fun memorabilia and hockey theme. We had delicious coney dogs and onion rings. Wish I ordered the crinkle cut fries because those looked good too. They brought a soup sample to try and my guy wished he would have got a cup of that too it was so good and homemade. Reasonable prices too. We stopped in while visiting family and I will be back next time I’m in town. !! 5*****

Coney Express is great for a quick lunch. Service is friendly and fast, nice prices, great food. Tried the Tater Tots, ordered them crispy and got them crispy! I like the casing on their Hot Dogs. I like Coney Dogs with Mustard and raw Onions. You should go there! Good food, quality, prices, Family Owned! (Heads up they're closed Mondays.)

Food, service, and atmosphere always great here. Their dogs and onion rings are outstanding (never had the fries) and somehow even the coke tastes better here😍 great service from the owner and the gentleman with the Green Bay Packers hat who looks like Aaron Rogers. Always love coming here and I've been dozens of times with the quality never lacking.

This little place has great food, awesome service, and an amazing atmosphere. The food is cooked to order and they gave me a menu for my fridge since I just moved over here.

I love how authentic this place is. When I spoke with the owner, I found out it was a family restaurant! They have fun combos, delicious sides, a great selection of options, and a relaxed atmosphere. If you love Chicago style dogs, this is the only place I'd go to outside of Illinois!

Finally, a coney island that serve more than hot dogs. I've been telling the bf about the real coneys, he don't know, he from the south, lol. Well he was like I'm sorry, it so good, yeah that what I thought, lol!! Everything was great!

Truly love going out to eat here, this family owned small corned restaurant has really good food. The owners are always super nice and welcoming. The service is fast and always good. And to top it off the place is really nice to eat at, always calm and cool with its older sports diner decor.

Literally the best Coneys I have had in my life. This is my favorite restaurant and my family have gone here with me since I was very little. I live up in Kalamazoo area now and still have not found a better coney, anywhere.

Had their coney dog 100% beef jumbo and a Chicago dog 100% beef jumbo fries (nothing special)and a medium drink. $17.50 The dogs were juicy and delicious with a good snap. The cony dog was spot on but the Chicago dog bun did not have poppyseeds. Not acceptable and I had to ask for celery salt. The owner says people don’t like the poppyseed buns. Hoosiers! SMH. Being from Chicago I’m pretty picky about my dogs and let the owner know he should have the poppyseed buns available. This place has been around since the early 70’s and has an authentic vibe. It’s a solid place and if they start serving the Chicago Dow with a poppyseed bun I’ll bump my review to a solid 5 stars.

Stopped in to this classic the other day after shoe shopping at Fleet Feet. Coney island was always a favorite of my dad, so we checked in. I am not a huge fan of steamed hotdogs.... BUT, when they get dressed up and disguised like a sinner getting dressed for church on a Sunday, hit the dog in deliciousness, I'll eat em. I wonder if yhey would deep fry my dog? I'll ask and report next time.

The Chicago style hotdogs are good and taste close to the real ones out of Chicago. The pork tenderloin is a winner as well. The restaurant is located inside a strip row of offices and you will pass it if you’re not looking carefully. The restaurant is family owned and the owners are very kind and warm. The soups I heard were good, the day I went, soup was, stuffed green pepper, and it was good and comforting. 4 stars because the French fries could be fried longer, I prefer mines to be crispy fries, I guess that’s a personal preference. Quick service, although they weren’t busy. Will return for the Chicago dogs, indefinitely!!

They have some of the best cream of mushroom soup I have ever had. It's a family friendly and affordable place to have a quick lunch or dinner. Family owned. They have a hockey/sports theme which sports fans may enjoy-personally, it's not my jam, but it is always clean and well-maintained. I've been eating here off and on for over 30 years. Seriously, do NOT sleep on the cream of mushroom soup.

Best dog joint for many, many miles. Specialized dogs of many kinds. They get creative and offer new dogs routinely. A real hometown joint , not many like it left. My family stopped in for dinner on Monday August 1, 2022. We were driving home from vacation and passing through town. It was delicious!! We ordered a variety of things from coney dogs, corn dogs, salad and fries. Everything was hot and fresh. We really enjoyed our food and the establishment. If we are ever in town again, we will be sure to stop in!

You craving a hotdog? This is the place to go. The dogs are delicious, the service outstanding and the restaurant clean. Went yet again. And it seems these hotdogs are still absolutely delicious. And do try the cosmetic chowder it was also delicious. Another visit and ... still delicious.

You can't find very many Coney Island Restaurants outside of Michigan and the few that you do either aren't actually Coney Island Restaurants or only serve Coney dogs or are Coney Island Restaurants but aren't as good. Coney Express on the other hand is one of those that hits it right out of the ball park. The original owners of Coney Express are originally from Detroit, MI. The quintessential home of Coney Island Restaurants. The first time I went their I immediately felt like I was back home in Detroit. From the welcoming smile and greeting of the staff to the Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks memorabilia all over the restaurant to the amazing food. It all comes together to give me a little slice of home. My go to favorite has always been a loose burger with onions and mustard but my second and third time there I tried the BBQ dog which is a hot dog with BBQ sauce and diced pickles on it. And it is delicious. I will definitely be going back and getting my two favorite dishes or maybe even trying something new. And for however long I am living here in South Bend, IN I will be making as many trips as possible to Coney Express. Top notch service, top notch, food and top notch environment. Just like the Ciney Island restaurants in and around Detroit, MI. Keep up the good work and I will be seeing you again.

Absolutely delicious and just as I remember it from when I was a child. Took my dad here for Father's day and he just kept saying that he can't wait to come back again.
