There is a certain flavor/texture combo that all great hoagies should have. It's hard to describe and even harder to obtain. It includes a certain kind of roll, a certain combination and order of meats, as well as fresh condiments. Once you've had it, you will have a really hard time enjoying any other hoagie... Well, that hoagie comes from Cut Above Deli. When trying any new hoagie, i will forever compare them to these guys! Fresh ingredients, perfectly dressed and proportionate meat/cheese/condiments, and the BUN!!!! I've been coming here for years, and it is always such a nice surprise to have the same awesome flavors each time i order. Can't say enough good stuff about this place, I would give them 6 stars if i could.

Best hoagies outside of the city

Ok okkkk I have been coming to cut above for 2 years and although it may be considered a bit pricey, SOOOO WORTH IT!! Typically I get spicy turkey hoagie,switched it up to a roll free chicken bruschetta today and it's amazing! I wish it would let me post a picture!

Been coming here for 25 years. This is the first, middle, and last thing I eat when I am home.

Was working in the area and saw this place and figured I'd stop in. Man behind the counter, while busy, was super nice and took my order really quick. Got the prosciutto and mozzarella hoagie. Was expecting to get less of one of the ingredients but, man do they stack it on. No skimping. I was also in and out in about 10 minutes. Will definitely come back whenever I'm on the area.

BIG fan of this place! The guys are so nice when you pick up your food! Never have I had a bad sandwich! Some I’d recommend: Classic Italian with arugula and balsamic, Tuscan, and the Chicken Cutlet Italiano. Definitely one of our go-to places!

Very nice staff. Great food. Please sell smaller rolls. I bought 1 for a small sandwich for my hubby and it was like a foot long! Lol.

Found myself headed to Newtown Square and immediately thought I still need to try A Cut Above! So glad I did. While I went in during the lunch hour and there were quite a few waiting, my hoagie was ready pretty quickly and was really good. I would def go again and I’d order on the app ahead, as I was a little worried the people around me were waiting longer than me.

YOOOOOO! Do not sleep on this place. My husband brought home a bunch of hoagies last night and when I say amazing, AMAZEBALLS!!! I was so stuffed on half I could not eat the anti-pasta. Brought to lunch today and even a day old, I was moved to write this review. KUDOS to A Cut Above.

For sure get the hot roast pork! This place and that sandwich came very highly recommended. Went back again to try the eggplant parm sandwich thinking I might try not to be such a fat*** that day. Didn’t work. Still needed a nap afterwards! Try the fancy sodas too.

I recently tried out this place on a friend's recommendation, and I have to say, it exceeded all my expectations. As a meat lover, I was thrilled with the variety of deli meats and cold cuts they offer. The prices were unbelievably reasonable, and the portion sizes were huge—I couldn't believe I was able to enjoy my sub for two whole days! Not to mention, the customer service was top-notch. If you're a fan of deli meats or cold cuts, this place is an absolute must-visit.

Great hoagies!!! Love the spicy ham, and pesto chicken hoagies! They offer seedless rolls too, just have to ask.

So funny story. On Wednesday I was getting a quote on a new gas furnace for my house...in Harrisburg. The HVAC guy was great and we started talking Philly sports which obviously led to a hoagie conversation. He told me that he drives to Cut Above Deli in Newtown Square to get hoagies... FROM HARRISBURG. Fast fwd to Saturday, was visiting my brothers in Delco and sold them on the idea of placing a takeout order. 14 hoagies later (for 8 people) we were absolutely mesmerized by this food. Several varieties of Italians, some hot beefs and a hot pork. Cutlets, and eggplant, and meatballs, oh my!! In all seriousness, without question the greatest hoagies we've ever had by a mile. It was a combination of the rolls, the ingredients AND the variety and creativeness of the menu. If you have the opportunity to eat here and don't, you secretly hate hoagies. End of conversation.

Great hoagies. We were so enticed with the menu we ended up ordering 14 sandwiches for 8 of us…best decision of the weekend. Cold, hot — it doesn’t matter. Everything was so fresh. Fantastic spot!

All his food is good, but it's all imported, so a sandwich 🥪 will be pricey, maybe if bought locally it they could drop the price. Buying imported is good for other countries but not good for America 🇺🇸. Buy locally. save money. Be smarter, not like Trumpkashenko. Good luck 🤞 sincerely.

Don't let the appearance of the storefront turn you off from stopping here. The hoagies, roast pork and sandwiches are some of the best in the suburbs, and possibly better than most in the city.

Sorry no pics too hungry, heehee. First time there (definitely going back btw😍) Had the Ham & Cheese on Rye 😋 sister had hot pork pretty good, but she would've preferred a non seeded roll....

Beautiful venue for a wedding and reception

Damn these sandwiches are delicious. And better yet the staff are incredibly friendly and haven’t let the fame get to their heads. They are patient and always willing to take your order though at times they are very busy and may not pick up the phone. Definitely recommend the chicken cutlet Lorenzo as one of my top favorites. And next level is to get it “scooped “which is basically to remove the inner bread if you want less carbs. This will be my sandwich shop from now on. Just need a better way to streamline their ordering such as online with payment. But maybe it also adds to their old-school charm to only be able to order by phone or in store.

One of my favorite deli's in America. All meats are imported from Italy (none of the boars head garbage commonly used). Their pesto sauce is incredible and their chicken cutlet sandwich is my go-to. With that said, I don't suggest their Italian sandwich, I tried 2 variations of it and it was disappointing both times. Their chicken salad is amazing. Service is friendly and personable.

The place has a funny smell, like a cellar smell, but I'll be honest, it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.

Literally the best hoagie I’ve ever had. Tucked away in a little shopping strip with a pretty faded sign, it might be easy to miss, but you should turn around and pick up a Cut Above Italian hoagie. My fiancé and I got the regular size, thinking it would be about a foot long, and imagine my surprise when we saw it’s about the size of my forearm. I had mayo and extra oil added to mine, and I think it really helped bring all of the flavors together. My fiancé reported that his was a little dry as he got it as is, but absolutely delicious nonetheless. Everything just goes together so perfectly with this hoagie. The bread is fresh but not dry, the meats complement each other well, and the olive oil and mayo??!! Out of this world. My fiancé randomly picked Cut Above as a reason to go on a little drive, and we can’t be any happier we found this place. Such a hidden gem. We’ll be showing any out of state-ers this place as an example of an authentic Philly hoagie!

*THE* best sandwiches,bar none...

Had high expectations because of great reviews, but they were, sadly, not met. First, was expecting to sit down & eat there; nope, no seating, take-out only. Watched one of the (very nice & friendly) guys slice the meat for my Classic Italian hoagie; plenty of it, so far so good. Got home & unwrapped it, and discovered a sesame-seed roll -- not expected, never before seen a hoagie on a seeded roll, no mention of it, not appropriate for a hoagie. The roll was fresh, but too bready & impossible to get my reasonably large mouth around; Liscio's rolls WAY better. Next disappointment: lots of meat, but sliced onion-skin-thin & wadded into a solid mass -- and very stringy & hard to chew. Tried to take it apart, hoping to be able to salvage, but meat so wadded up that I gave up -- & discovered practically no cheese, & I mean 1-2 very thin slices, couldn't taste it at all. Very disappointing, particularly given that it cost 14 bucks. I'm a Philly native of 70+ years, have eaten hundreds of hoagies at dozens of shops, & this doesn't make my "go back for another" list. Sorry, I really wanted to like it...

I got the Calabria. So good. Each ingredient in the sandwich (including the roll) was fresh and delicious, no doubt high quality. Together it was amazing. For the quantity and the quality, the price was more than fair. Definitely want to come back and try some of the other sandwiches, they have so many options. Extremely friendly people working too

Their sandwiches are worth the money! I get my Luna Rosa cookies here from Staten Island. They are hard to find!! Only can normally get them in Jersey.

This place slaps! I've eaten at most of the highest rated sandwich shops from Manhattan to Philly, and this place is as good as any and better than most. Everything is fresh, generous portion size but good balance of meat, bread and toppings. Way better then Primo and anywhere else in the area. Highly recommend!

Shared this gem so I thought…. With my cousin from CO. I bragged about it for weeks. Hoagies had little to no meat. Made On a Tuesday. We paid $160 for bread. So disappointed! Won’t be back.

Top rolls from Sarcones, high quality olive oil and vinegar. Thinly sliced top quality meats and the best Italian Hoagie's I've ever tasted. If it gets better than this, please tell me where.

Picked up 3 regular sized hoagies tonight. Son got the Calabria and was happy with it. We got 2 ham and cheese and they were a mess. Opened the wrapping and meat and cheeses were out of the roll and it wasn't because there was a lot of meat. One hardly had any ham, they forgot the onions, and both had stale rolls. We drive a distance to get these because they are usually so good but not tonight! So disappointing 😞.

We loved our lunch so much...we went back the following day.

I've only tried two sandwiches from here. The Calabria and The Roma. Hands down the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life.

All the classic Italian style sandwiches. They'll make it quick and delicious pretty much everytime and they're always friendly and gracious.

I live in Ridley & go out of my way to visit this sandwich shop @ least once a month. They have the best roast pork @ roast beef sandwiches in all of Delco. All their food is DELICIOUS!!!! The staff is the best as well. If they ever put a second location in Ridley, they would put ALL the sandwich shops out of business in this area YOU GUYS SRE THE BEST!!!

This place has one of the best Italian hoagies around. Fresh meat and veggies. Fresh roll. I’m on the road a lot and usually end up at a deli for lunch and I’m glad I found this place. I’d say one of the best in and around Philly👌🏻👌🏻

One of the best hoagie places in the area, I was introduced to through an Amoroso bread truck driver over a dozen years ago. They don't use Amaroso rolls but he said that they make a great hoagie. With the Wawa loyalists in the area this place manages to always have a decent line waiting inside and sometimes outside at lunch time. Their signature Cut Above hoagie has some hot meat in it, ao just be warned if you don't like spicy stuff. I have often just removed it if I am getting one to share with the kids. Very friendly workers, classy place all around. Thanks for the delicious hoagie.

Ordered classic Italian. Meat was so fatty, stringy I could not chew it. Wound up eating lettuce sandwich. Used to be so good, now 1 piece of cheese. Not worth almost 15.00. Quality really gone down. Shame it's not worth money.....

Food is great and went out of his way to place my order how I wanted it.

Normally we order and pick up since 2007 however we received a gift card for door dash barley ever use door dash. Today was a complete nightmare placed order at 1200pm didnt receive order till 150Pm. Hoagies were completely saturated soaked pickles and sweets out of a jar and barely any meat I am not sure if the dasher ate most of the meat Or cut above is skimping but on top of my 25.00 gift card with fees and etc we paid an additional 18.00. This meal should have been above and beyond. Sadly disappointed never again. For two small hoagies...smh!

Excellent, friendly service with the best hoagies in the Phila area!

I thought this place was priced on the high side for a deli, but the crew wanted to go there for lunch so we did... now all I can say is shut up and take my money!!! These guys make a sandwich that is truly a cut above everyone else. The guys at the counter that have taken my orders (I am now a repeat customer whenever I working in the area) are super polite, like suspiciously polite... I eat out atleast 5x a week and this place goes beyond what I call good service.

Always good for a quick bite to eat. Aside from the large menu they always have daily lunch and dinner specials. Excellent prices.

Two words,..Chicken Bruschetta!!!!! Omg I get it in a bowl this is so amazing!! I could live here and just eat sandwiches lol there are a great group of guys working here great service great food! I just love this place and will continue to be a loyal customer!!

I heard about this place back in 2004 while at a motorcycle rally in upstate NY. Met a guy there who recommended this place highly. I grew up in Broomall, town over from this place, and tried them out while visiting my family the following week and it's been a love affair ever since. Every time I fly into Philly from Seattle I come here first... directly from the airport, every time. There's nothing like this out there.

Best. Ever! Ingredients are always fresh. Sandwiches come in 3 sizes in a delicious variety. Lots of salad drink, and chips to choose from. Worth going out of your way for. I think they also do catering.

I drive to the wells Fargo for my job next to it I spotted a hoagie spot looked like a good mom n pop spot so I u turned in went it the two guys had a nice personality and good customer service last but not least the corn beef hoagie was DELICIOUS I will be returning omg 😋I haven't had a good HUSKY FRESH hoagie in all long time in I'm from sw...I appreciate you guys I shall return

Better than that Springfield joint

Finally stopped in after soooooo many years of driving by. Sandwiches were Great, pricing about the average pricing for a Good Deli sandwich. Wife & I both had a Cornbeef special, couldn't wait to ge6 home so we consumed it in the parking lot LOL. We took Our daughter home a Turkey hoagie, she loved it. It's been 2 yrs now since we transplanted from Philly to Delco. Cut Above Deli get 5 stars plus. Oh you gotta try their own produced soft drink,it reminds you of Frank's Soda. Good job Guys. You gonna make me break my diet.

Sandwiches are wonderful. I get a chicken cutlet with mozzarella, lettuce tomato honey mustard and it's delicious. Roll is hard to describe, but probably like a more toasted, fuller flavored roll compared to Primo. My one tip: Order ahead of time or you're sometimes subjected to the political talk that happens amongst customers. Everyone is nice and respectful and not the staff's fault, just an irritating thing to tolerate on a Sunday morning.

Best deli in the area. Literally the only place I would go to get a nice sandwich. If you go to Wawa over this place then you need to get your life checked out. I would recommend the smoked turkey and swiss with lettuce onions and extrea mayo. I promise you, you will not find anything better in this area.
