Yummy burgers and soda float in a very beautiful environment.

Heavy 5 stars on atmosphere! Food is delicious and it looks like everyone enjoys their jobs here. FRESH MEAT AND CHEESES. The market is a great place to pick up something Togo as well.

We do love that place. Great food, great music at the events. Only downside is the waiting time for live music events.

So I was in Durango / Silverton for the weekend great food everywhere. Just not here. James Ranch Grill is supposed to be a local favorite. And the owners have put a lot of energy into it. it looks nice. I got the basic burger lettuce, tomato, onion pickle and their cheese, Medium well done. With tax and tip $18 no drink or side of fries. Now I'm from New Mexico where you can't travel 1/4 mile in most town with out hitting a hamburger stand that hasn't had an award or a green Chile cheeseburger. The ground beef was still pink, no seasoning on the meat, the bun wasn't special, the whole experience was bland to the taste. I eat 1/2 of it and through it out. I've had diarrhea for 2 days now. I'm not saying it to be mean just a fact. It could be a supper fresh meat vs processed or something but some salt and pepper wouldn't hurt. for $18 I was very disappointed.

Atmosphere 10000%!!! Absolutely loved the outdoor seating with the picnic tables and the lights at night. The burgers were out of this world. Everyone was so welcoming. Great location and not to mention the goats!!

The burgers & fries were amazing! The brownies were also a hit. The staff was exceptional & we got a beautiful picnic table outside, overlooking the stunning landscape. I loved that the staff were so polite & considerate, when saying hi to our big dogs. Coming from Austin, TX, this ranch was incredible!

We arrived at 6:00 pm on a Thursday. Long line to order food. Took a while for our burgers to show up, but it was worth the wait. Great outdoor seating. Live band playing old time music. One of the best burgers I've had. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area

If you want to have a local experience, this is the right place! The ranch is family run, they also have a market with local products. We ate well but the wait between the order and the food arriving was 1 and a half / 2 hours but because on Thursday evenings there is live country music so I think this is the reason. Suitable for families with children, in nature. Kind.

First time here. This place is amazing. It’s not just a grill, it’s a market and farm and cheese store! A beautiful mecca. At the grill I got their Vegetarian Burger- I was expecting a mixed vegetable burger but what I got was so incredible juicy -it was a piece of squash cut to fit a burger roll, that was grilled and so delicious. There is free tap water and plenty of picnic benches spread out upon the grass.

This place has a great outdoor atmosphere, but the food is basic and over priced. We couldn’t taste any difference with the beef. It was basic burgers for $16, without fries and a drink.

James Ranch is a very nice place to have a picnic style lunch. The food they serve is so fresh and delicious. They have people walking around to see if you need anything and are very helpful. The beef is incredibly full of flavor.

Really solid burgers and sandwiches (of different types), fingerling fries, and slaw were had by everyone at our table. I had the summer veggie burger with fresh grilled squash and requested that they add mushrooms, they did, no problem. Everything was very good. But what makes this place, in my opinion, isn't just the fresh high-quality ingredients, and kind responsive service, but the mission and purpose of this family owned and run business that focuses on seasonal, regenerative and local ingredients. Throw in the indoor and outdoor seating, great staff, beautiful land, and live music (the night we were there), and it made for a lovely evening. Well done, James gang!

If you happen to be driving by, do yourself a favor and stop here for one of their delicious hamburgers. The fingerling potatoes are addictive. Friendly service and amazing views. A great place to pull over for lunch.

This is the second time we have visited James Ranch Grill. We loved it so much the first time a couple of years ago, we had to visit again during this visit to Durango. They have the best burgers and sandwiches. I love their BLT. My friends loved the burgers and Inside Out Melt. We chose to sit outdoors so we could enjoy the views and the fresh air. They have plenty of picnic tables throughout the property. A young man checked on us throughout our meal. He was fabulous! We also had to purchase a few things in their market.

Absolutely love this place!! Wish I could give it 6 stars! The food is fresh organic, and cooked to perfection! The service is outstanding, everyone was super nice, and did everything with a smile! The atmosphere is wonderful too, especially when the weather is nice! I would try and get there while their amazing market is open and take home some goodies! The only bad thing is we live in Phoenix, and sooo wish we would have brought a cooler in order to take more back home.

Was really excited to come here until I realized they don't serve any steaks for being a ranch and grill. The burgers were good but was not a fan they charge for refills on soda.

45 minutes wait after ordering a basic burger. Up charge for fries' mayo and more ketchup than the tiny ketchup dish. Worse than that, my $9.50 cider was only 5 ounces. It's a racket.

This is a really cute place! You can tell a lot of hard work and dedication has gone into making this a reality and I’m really happy for them. The view is incredible. The hay straws are really neat and I wish it was an option to have hay straws more places. The burger was really good. I wasn’t a fan of the dressing that came with the beet salad and the goat cheese didn’t taste as tangy as goat cheese typically does but those are personal preferences that are my own taste and doesn’t subtract from their overall quality. The tractor soda was great and the rootbeer float with homemade vanilla bean ice cream was refreshing!

Amazing restaurant! We have a hard time finding a restaurant where everyone can eat in our family, but James Ranch has something everyone likes, my kids included. My husband has celiac, and we have eaten here twice, and he hasn't gotten sick. Pricey, but worth the money!

Everything that we ate was amazing! The staff were very friendly and would frequently ask if we needed anything. The outdoor seating was perfect during the summer and open to dogs as well.

A worthy stop - incredible location, food is amazing, the farm is worth a walk-around as well. We came after a day at Pergatory, had live music, wanted to stay a while. Highly recommend!

It was... ok. And just ok for the price. Maybe I'm not a fan of jersey cows, but for 16$+ a burger it should knock my socks off, but it was OK. Cool venue, if you're fine with kids running around screaming lol and the line to buy the food... I don't get it, wrapped around the corner, and it's an order window, simple menu, not sure what takes people so long to order. Maybe I'm just simple folk, and this place was too hip for me. If you're a boojie hipster with little kids, you'll love it.

Been supporting them for 20 years, but am sad to say as a local I can no longer afford to go without feeling borderline robbed. While it's a good model for business, it's infuriating to pay $17 for a burger pre tax WITHOUT a side option, then flip the screen and ask for a 20% tip when it's order at the window and pick up your own food. This is another restaurant that's catering to tourism, pushing out locals and raising their prices consistently every year. This was about $40 plus tip (see photo). It's a shame because the food is good and the staff are really nice. Edit: Actually, they WILL give you a side. $6.50 for cut up potatoes. So...if you'd like a 1/3 lb burger and a side that'll will be $23.50 plus tax and tip. Enjoy! And as for the owners response about ordering the most expensive item in the menu... A 'regular' burger is $1 less. I recommend looking over their menu first prior to visiting so you aren't surprised at pricing.

The burgers are amazing! The view is gorgeous! You order at the window and pick up your food when your buzzer notifies you. But everyone is very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and the patio overlooks the farm. It is a very beautiful spot. And a very popular place for lunch. Expect some lines. An animal petting area for kids and lots of areas for kids to run and play. There are also lots of picnic tables around for sitting in the grass and under the trees. They have done such a beautiful job making a place for people to enjoy!

Our first time here and it was pleasant! To know you’re eating healthy food that’s locally sourced is always a plus. I was expecting to be blown away by the burger but I wasn’t and it’s not a bad thing. It was still good. Their staff is friendly. The atmosphere was enjoyable. The view is blocked by trees but you can walk around the property and soak up the beauty Durango has to offer. Sometimes the animals come closer which was so cool, you can hear them moo 😅 We ordered at 7:40 pm and got our food around 8pm. They close at 8:30 and literally at 8:26, as we were wrapping up, a young female server came up to us and asked to get our tray. We were still finishing up the last bits of our meal as she hovered over our table saying, “there’s still 4 minutes left until we close but feel free to stay longer if you’d like”. Keep in mind that she said this as she was asking to grab our sauces and plates. 😅 We felt rushed by her and uncomfortable to be honest. We came after a six hour drive and it would’ve been sweet to just be left alone to finish our meal instead of disrupting it just to clean up. We felt rushed. Still giving four stars for everything else 😊

Hands down, the green chili pico burger is the best burger I’ve had in my life. Super high quality local meat combined with their Belford cheese was simply out of this world. Beautiful spot, near Durango. Worth the trip!

Ahhhh-mazing!!!! Was worth the wait!!! I ordered a Pico Burger and it was beautiful! My belly thanks me,...along with my taste buds. 🤭 My husband ordered the Mushroom Belford Cheese Burger and it was also the BOMB! I must add, the fries were scrumptious 🤤 Best place to get burgers. And the View was immaculate! 👌🏼 My cheii would say "béegha" 👌🏼 🥰 Oh and my Navajo-ness 🤣 came out 100% and I picked some chiłchin (sumac berries) too. Haha!!

Great burgers and scenery. Stopped by for lunch on our way from Silverton to Durango. The staff was very friendly and you can not beat the scenery. They are dog friendly and have picnic tables set up in the grass out back to accommodate pets. They also have some local draft beers on tap.

I did a bunch there and it was fantastic.

This place is awesome if you are staying at the purgatory. 15 mn drive is way shorter than driving to town. It gets very busy for dinner, we stood in lime for half hour. Also during summer make sure u wear breathable clothing. It gets hot in the sun 😂 The food is amazing. Definitely would recommend.

I can't believe I haven't seen this place before. It's adjacent to Honeyville and is a part of the larger James Ranch. This location has both the Market and the Grill. They utilize their own farm raised Angus beef, among other ingredients. They had a pen with goats for the kids and an amazing view overlooking the valley and mountains. This really is a hidden gem, and it should be on your list every time you stay or pass through Durango. The atmosphere really deserves a higher score than 5. It's simply a great place to have lunch or dinner.

Incredible place to eat! Everything was cooked to perfection, and they had lots of options with local ingredients. We enjoyed all of the sides, main dishes, and the desserts we ordered as well. Such an incredible concept with a welcoming and beautiful atmosphere. For the great quality of the food and service, everything was reasonably priced. We also loved the opportunity to walk around the property and learn about the ranch. Highly recommend!!

Was really disappointed because I love ketchup and this burger was so good I had no need for it. I'm a burger snob and this was THE BEST BURGER that I've ever had. Not much of a salad guy but the house salad was delicious. Still can't believe how much different regular food can taste when it's this fresh. Mind blown. 10 out of 10 recommended.

Steak sandwich and fingerling fries were very delicious. Great outdoor area. My only complaint is that I was by myself and the two groups of 3 behind me got their food before I did. Not sure if it takes longer to make the steak sandwich. Other then that, highly recommend and will go again.

This has become a staple on all our Durango trips and is a MUST! You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Everything is seasonal, made fresh, from scratch, and is all organic and farm-to-table delicious! Like, how can ketchup be so freaking amazing when I handmade!?!?! OMG! And their fried fingerling potatoes, to die for!!! We got a basic burger and the patty melt, and we were so full at the end!!! I highly recommend trying their floats made from cane sugar and I believe they use a local soda company! So good!!! The view here is just heaven and you have to check out the little market next door! The entire experience is A+++++ and I highly recommend having a picnic here!

It's good food but it's super expensive and you would think that for so much money they could give you a beer in a glass instead of a plastic cup but nope.

Hands down best burger in the area, if not ALL TIME. The staff is incredibly friendly and put a smile on everyone’s face I saw walk in. The food is superb and reasonably priced for the high quality that it is. Locally sourced ingredients and made house! Will be back another day of the week to try one of their daily specials!

Amazing hamburgers, some of the best I've ever had. They raise their own beef. Also excellent mushroom soup. You order at the counter, and I would prefer to have serving staff and a glass of wine with the meal. There is a lovely outdoor seating area, but I didn't use it when I was there because it was too cold. Attached store has some terrific local wine and cheese that they make themselves. Also some meat is available, but I didn't try any of it because I was just passing through. Prices are pretty high, but in the end the experience was worth the money.

You can actually taste the beef! Everything about this place is 5 stars.
