Hate that the price on the menu is not what they charge. But they don't tell you that until you are leaving and paying.

Had a good breakfast with a friend.

We have been to Darrell's several times and have loved everything we have ordered. The staff is excellent and that is so important.

What can I say that is positive? Absolutely nothing. We have been here for 45 minutes in a half empty business and no food. No one apologizes or checks on us. Ridiculous….never again….

I like the location off of 466 in The Villages. Something happened today though that I can’t wrap my head around. I asked for a breakfast sandwich with ham but I asked that the ham be placed on the side because my intent was to give a little to my dog as a treat. The server came back awhile later and said that someone in the kitchen said they can’t “ deconstruct “ my sandwich meaning I could not order the sandwich with the ham on the side. I ended up not getting any meat but, in retrospect, I wish I just said “No thanks” to the meal as a matter of principle. Can anyone begin to comprehend why they refused to put ham on the plate without it being on the sandwich? It’s honestly the strangest thing I’ve experienced in awhile.

I love this lil hole in the wall. You will not go wrong eating here. If you see the Red Velvet waffles on the Specials of the Day board. Order them! This is down home cooking with Down home folks running it!

It's a busy diner but the gals really hustle. Of all the ones in and around the Villages this is our favorite. Be prepared for a short wait during busy times.

Services is good, servers are great, but gluten free, lactose free / skim milk should be added to menu , less butter in meal making could be helpful and healthier

Actually, not as good as in the past, breakfast was under cooked and now with the snow birds in it was over priced

Came here 3 days in a row for breakfast. It was excellent. Good home cooking and very generous portions. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. I recommend the French toast, pancakes and biscuits, and gravy. Although I will bet anything you order will be good.

A hangout for old-timers who enjoy poor food.

Pretty basic diner. Everything you'd expect from a small diner chain in Florida. Our servers were lovely and professional. I have eaten at this specific Villages location and if you're not familiar with the area, it's a retirement area. Every time I've been here there are some disgruntled octogenarians complaining about something. Which, no judgements, hopefully we'll all make it that far and be complaining ourselves. Just a heads up. Eggs were not dry, bacon was well done, gravy on the chicken fried steak was very peppery which I enjoy. The wrap was pretty decent, fries def could use more salt. But I personally would stick with breakfast items.

The definition of perfect!! Clean restrooms, amazing, stomach-filling food, amazing service, kind staff, and the place is clean is general!! Would come here again!!

You can always get good food at any Darrell's for reasonable prices. Daily specials and great service too!

Good breakfast. Attentive service. Reasonable portion sizes. Coffee refills; they even offered a to-go cup on our departure. Dog friendly outdoor seating. Plenty of parking.

Eggs were cooked the way I like them. Not bad overall, but one issue that bugged me was $3.11 for a Great Value Walmart tea bag. Simply horrible. $6.22 for 2 - Darrell for a less cost higher quality option urchase Lipton Organic. High end Taso teas.

First time here and it was recommended. Food ok, service good. Had pancakes and they only serve this toxic spread, "House Recipe" 48% vegetable oil. Waitress said no butter here.

We have never had an issue, we love their food, but the service was bad. Not a matter of short staffed either. One waitress told some men outside glad they didn't want to sit there because she didn't want to be there either. Will go back but to a different location

I am visiting from out of town and I decided to stop by Darrell's Diner for a quick lunch. To be honest, I'm not sure how this place has so many good reviews because this was by far the worst food I have ever had. I got the cheeseburger with fries and when I tell you I could have gotten more flavor by taking a bite straight out of a live cow...and the fries were equally as awful and flavorless. No ketchup or salt could help that one. and the water!? jesus...the water was god awful. there was a horrible metal taste in the water. Our waitress was Cathy and although there were some slip ups overall she was very kind and she did try her best. I really don't think I will come back...

Great place for breakfast. The food is really good! Feels like a local diner type place, where everyone seems friendly and the staff treat everyone like they've been coming in for years. Really like the counter seats and service, definitely my go to seating.

My friend asked The waitress if you served fresh squeezed orange juice, the waitress said yes, so my friend ordered a round for the four of us at the table. It was not fresh squeezed orange juice. 😐 Two of the four of us had the vegetable omelette which we enjoyed. The other two had some kind of eggs for breakfast. I really liked the pictures of the dogs hanging on the walls, as I am a dog lover.

I am in search of a crispy waffle slathered in butter as soon as it comes off the waffle iron so all the butter melts into each little square and then commingles with the syrup for a perfect bite of buttery, sweet crunch. I didn't find it here. When they brought it out, less than half of the waffle was buttered and of course the additional butter (which was not really butter but slightly odd-tasting margarine) was applied to a now cooling waffle so just sat on top and didn't melt. The syrup was not hot, so it didn't help me out either. While we're talking about the syrup, it tasted watered down with virtually no maple flavor and not much sweet. Yes, I realize this is very picky, but the infinite pleasure the perfect waffle gives me is worth the bother. I should have known when I realized they get their corned beef hash out of a can. My husband enjoyed his biscuits and gravy.

Avoid this place! Just had breakfast there and wish I hadn't. Be prepared to pay in cash as they charge you extra to use a credit card. You'll see this listed on your bill as a 'Cash Adj Fee'. Yes, it was a busy Sunday but after 3 times of being told by the waitress, "I'll be right with you" while the table who sat just behind us (after we were seated) ordered their coffee and food, we had to ask why we were waiting. The answer was that they work in stations. Apparently, our waitress was working a station throughout the entire diner as we noticed her serving tables to our left and right, all the while passing right by us. Only after we asked when we could order did our waitress finally come over, and boy did she bring her attitude. The food isn't great. I ordered the half biscuits with gravy and 2 eggs with bacon. A half order is only one biscuit, which was crunchy, and over cooked on the bottom. The sausage gravy was flavorful. The bacon was undercooked as the fat hadn't been rendered and I had to cut it off the remaining strip. The scrambled eggs were undercooked in spots. They also seemed to out of a lot of breakfast options - no cottage cheese, no rye bread, no sausage links. NOT WORTH wasting your time or money on this place.

Great service with a smile. Our men's group showed up, and they pushed a couple of tables together to accommodate us. Coffee cup was delivered immediately as I got situated and never allowed to get below the halfway point. Chili omlett with jalapeños on top. It was totally unexpected and I was pleasantly surprised. Had a terrific time getting breakfast with the guys at Darrells Diner.

Everything you desire. Excellent service, delicious breakfast with generous portions andreasonable prices. A busy place that's not too quiet , but you expect that. The wait staff is a real team. Never an empty coffee cup. Highly recommend

Went for breakfast. Food is very good and the service was also very good. Good basic food for a very reasonable price. We will be going back.

Not really their fault, only two servers and a host fir a full restaurant. I would not have let anyone sit at the outside tables for service way to busy. We waited 15 min to be greeted, another 10 for coffee, 10 more for order to be taken. Food was fast but not real hot. Table next waited 30 minutes very nicely to get greeted. Again not their fault other then I would have closed outside tables.

Darrell’s is slipping with their food and service. Eggs half scrambled, no flavor.home fries. IHOP is in our plans for awhile.

Wife and I had probably the best food since we moved here two years ago. I had the Great Dane with three perfectly cooked eggs the bacon, sausages, hash browns and pancake were very flavorful and cooked just right. Our waitress kept refilling our coffee and always kept an eye on all her customers despite a completely full restaurant. Our new favorite!

Just recently moved to Florida, and drove by a few of these, as dog AND breakfast lovers my husband and I decided to try it out. Service was excellent, and quick. It gives the feel of a small business, and because each location is a little different and it doesn't feel like a chain at all (except in the way it is consistent- we tried another location and the recipes are for sure being followed, which is a good thing.) This place feels like an old-school vintage diner, but is extremely well kept and clean. The food was excellent, and extremely reasonably priced. Highly recommend the biscuits and gravy (get a full not a half, you'll want more.) Hot, good food, served with a smile, what more could you want?

Not too happy. I sat at a table and waited then two other tables filled up around me and I still waited to order. Those tables got their food 15 minutes before me and came.in after. When I finally got food it had obviously been under.the warmer for a while. Not impressed.

Love this place but they have a problem with one waitress. Cathy needs to be removed. Several people have complained about her but she is still here. Today she barked at a lady in a mobilized wheel chair for slightly being off the edge of the table and sticking in the aisle. Then the next table she barked at a man that had his walker next to the table. She said they were blocking the aisle which was a violation of the fire codes. This was done with a very negative attitude and several of use stepped in to help these people and Cathy giving us this scrolling mean look. Then shortly after this she sat a 5th person on the end of a table blocking the same isle which absolutely contradicted what she did before. We are regulars here 2 to 3 times a week but we our searching for a new spot without a nasty employee they keep around.

Worst ever! I have eaten at the location in Ocala and it was great. Perhaps today was a bad day. an hour to get breakfast and then they bring the toast after all of the food is gone. Had to hunt someone down for a refill on coffee. Tne food was good but an hour later for breakfast?

This place is close to my home so I decided to go here for lunch. I was in search for a fish sandwich and they happened to have one on the menu. You seat yourself at any clean table since they are short staffed. I decided to sit at the counter. The waitress took my order pretty quick and my food came out shortly thereafter. The sandwich was HUGE, but it was a lot of greasy breading. The onion rings are good as well (with a side of the thousand island dressing) but those were greasy as well. This isn’t a fancy restaurant, but it’s a place you can go for a cheap lunch, or breakfast meal.

This is one of our favorite breakfast/lunch restaurants in The Villages. It took about 45 minutes to get 2 breakfast meals. Now-days, that seemed quick. LOL. The food & coffee were good. They must have been husteling; only half the slice of toast was buttered.

I must have went to a different place that a lot of these reviews. Stood at door an no one would help us. Eventually just headed to a table and asked a waitress can we sit ourselves? If it is clean she said! Order two omelettes, both had wrong items on them. Waitress left with them came back two minutes later, ask her how that was so fast? She says, I scraped of the wrong items and added the ones that were missing??? Will never go back to this place, visit if you like obviously we were the only ones ever treated like that here!

Best diner in The Villages. The staff makes you feel like you are a welcome part of the regular crowd. Food is home cooked and yummy. Great little place!

I love the location on 466A. The tea is good service is right on spot. This is our go-to food when we have guests. Friendly and a great price.

First time here. Sunday at 6:30am. Was already 12 people here and Cathy was serving alone. She was hustling around and provided great service even with all the people. Food was delicious and the price reasonable. Other staff came in later and, with Cathy, knew several of patrons which was nice to see. I’ll be back

I've never had a bad meal at Darrell's Diner or even a mediocre meal at Darrell's Diner. The service staff is great.

Nice restaurant. An average cafe/diner atmosphere with polite employees. Seating was quick at the height of the lunch hour. The was brought out quickly and it was good.

It is like Rams. A great diner that was very busy when I went. The food was good and the service was friendly and efficient. I will go back the next time we are in town.
