What a wonderful experience today. We called ahead and brought a candle and they made my father-in-law's birthday grilled donut with ice cream. He loved it! The rice bowl with vegan cheese was delicious and so were the burritos. My husband and sons loved the watermelon Italian sodas. I loved the blue raspberry. I was excited to see they now have a dog menu. We will have to be back with the pups soon. It was the perfect spot after a bike ride. We've also stopped after or for a break during a trail walk. Following the Facebook page will let you know hours for the fall and upcoming seasons. The bike shop in the back looks great too.

My burrito was maybe a little smaller than I was picturing, but this was a great little spot worth revisiting.

Loved this little Cafe right on the Butler Freeport Community Trail. I chose a grilled cheese with roasted red peppers, which was made with obviously fresh ingredients and served panini style. My BF chose the Burrito with included good portions of chicken, cheese, rice, beans and salsa. Both were excellent. I also had a fresh fruit cup that was clearly made with freshly cut fruit and a Lavender Soda. Both top notch. We shared the peanut butter cookies. So good. They also offered multiple flavors of homemade ice cream sandwiches and many hot and cold drink options. Very nice atmosphere and a great place to stop while walking or biking the trail (we entered the trail at the Cabot parking lot, about a 15 min bike ride from here). Heading back to try the ice cream sandwiches soon!

What a cool place to have lunch on the Butler Freeport Trail! You need to try the Italian sodas and the grilled cheese!

Great place. I set this as my goal to bike to awhile ago and finally made it today. I refueled on the rice and beans bowl which was really good. Great little patio and its right on the trail.

Derailleur is a wonderful place to stop, whether you are on the trail or just in the area. The owners are delightful and everything on the menu is worth trying at least once.

Second time visiting there today. What a gem. The food, the building, the owners, a good trail to go with it. Do yourself a favor and stop at the cafe, you won't be sorry.

Stopped here during a bike ride on the trail. We had a delicious lunch! It is the most adorable place and we sat outside in the shade on the side patio. It was so relaxing and enjoyable! Definitely recommend even if you just drive there. But just wanted to point out that it is right on along the Butler/Freeport trail if you happen to be walking or biking.

My wife and I rode the entire trail from Freeport to Butler and on our return trip we stopped for something to eat and drink. The food was awesome and my wife loved the Italian soda!!!! We will definitely be coming back. The owners weren’t there but the staff working today was super friendly and accommodating!

We love the Butler Freeport Community Trail and Derailleur is our treat for getting out. The food, beverages, bike store, atmosphere, owners and staff make it a wonderful experience. Come often and try each area of the menu - so many delicious items!

This was such a cute stop along the bike trail! We each got a pizzadilla and a drink and had a nice little rest on our trip.

A must stop when riding the Freeport-Butler radio to trail. Lots of great ice cream sandwich flavors as well as ice drinks and more. My daughter loves their epic fairy garden too!

Nice little cafe that’s right along the bike trail; between Sheetz Drive trail head and Bonniebrook Road trail head. Owners are super nice and have a great selection of foods, drinks, and bike trail apparel. They also do bicycle repairs. We don’t take a ride on the trail without stopping here.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy a weekend morning is to park at the trailhead near Derailleur, run with a friend and end with coffee or a bite to eat here. Always incredible service, food and atmosphere!

My wife and I stopped for a bite while riding the Butler-Freeport Trail, it was a charming place with friendly owner, amazing job they did fixing up up over the last decade.

Great place, great staff! Very refreshing to stop in for a bite to eat and drink after being on the trail. They even let us fill up our water bottles for free with their sink. We were very appreciative that day!

A must stop when you’re riding the butler Freeport trail. They have a great selection of healthy choice treats and many types of coffee drinks. The latte I had really hit the spot on my way back to Freeport. Very friendly staff and the bike repair shop is such a nice addition to have there. I’ll be sure to stop every time I’m on the trail!

I only ever had the fruit smoothies but they are always good. Very friendly staff. A great stop on a hot day on the trail.

What a gem!! Owned and operated by two excellent, friendly and gracious hosts - Deedee and Gavin. The food is terrific. The building has a history that Gavin will share with you. Deedee makes the best damn grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had in my 78 years. The seven of us came to Herman for a mini family reunion of Brandts and Steighners. The Bike Shop Cafe got us off to a wonderful start visiting the place of our family roots.
