Really cool place with many little artisan shops for gifts. The shops are quite expensive, fair warning. However they are unique and handmade. In the farmers market there are many food vendors, things for kids to do, fun shops. Even a shop with things for dogs that has snacks like smoked liver. Poky rides, on site textile creating (and classes), a restaurant, a grist mill, and so much more! What a fun place to visit.

Food is good..... service should be better for the high price point. It's really expensive. Note for people with food allergies - when you reserve your time online it asks for allergy information. We went thinking that meant their would be accommodations to the best of their ability. Zero accommodations and they were going to charge us extra for rolls when their complimentary bread has walnuts in it.

I certainly didn't feel welcomed. I watched many of the workers speak to everyone except our party. One person went out of her way not to speak. It's so disgusting, disheartening, and disappointing to receive that type of treatment from a place that uses Christianity as a description of who they are. I'm wondering what Jesus are you referring to, certainly not the loving God that I serve.

The food in the restaurant was delicious! It has some unique items that were tasty and that gave a down home - home cooked meal feel. The whole compound is controversial as I know they have had many past wrongdoings. But, I feel that the younger generation is revamping that outlook on their community with hopefully, some wisdom and moving forward with more care for each others well being. Everyone is very polite with some truly amazing skills presented. Whoever does their marketing is on point with their modern decor showcasing their “old world” charm. I was very impressed.

Was there for Saturday lunch. Wait was 2,5 hours. I can’t believe we waited that long. But there so many things to look around that time flew by just like that. Great food, service is excellent. Homemade ranch is so yum you have to try it. Guacamole and salsa are yummy too

Tons of things to do here. If you like to live off the land, farm, or live colonial style this place has it all! I love buying the homemade soaps and candles from the general store. They also offer a ton of classes like cooking, baking, woodworking and more! I also love eating at the Homestead Cafe, definitely recommend getting a reservation, it is always packed! The hamburger is one of the best in Waco. The patty is super good and the buns are homemade and amazing.

Such a wonderful experience. There was great coffee and food, and we enjoyed the sights, people-watching, crafts, and crazy good handmade skills. I bought some of them, which cost a little more than usual, but I feel just fine purchasing something homemade in Texas and laying a little more! The 36th Annual Homestead Fair use to be a live documentary of the homestead life style but those day are over. It’s mainly for kids now with little art projects and petting zoos they’ve also started a token system for interacting with the “art projects” while I understand the need for financial the homestead they have gone full community mode with sell sell sell this will be my last year attending the event one can imagine that the migration of hopefully homesteads from California have corrupted another West Texas town with bright new ideas of how to sell and destroy any soul of the festivities.

I’m so disappoint in my experience here. The website looked so promising and I had read somewhere that it can take you about 4 hours to experience everything. My sister and I decided to go for the day and we were honestly done with everything in under 2 hours. We thought we would be able to observe the cheese making process. All we saw was a plaque explaining a bit about the process and we could see through a glass window the big machinery where the cheese is fermented. That’s it. Same with pottery. We were under the impression we were going to be able to observe people making pottery but nope, just a big room with mugs for sale and we were told we could come back later for a pottery class for $100. Basket weaving was a room with baskets for sale, nobody was weaving anything. We were however, able to observe a woman spinning wool into a dish towel. The general store had some yummy homemade bread but the gift shop, although interesting to look around at everything, was really pricey in my opinion so I didn’t buy anything. I will say the cafe exceeded my expectations. It was rustically decorated, very beautiful and the burger I ordered was tasty. We were going to try the ice cream at the waffle restaurant for dessert but we learned they would be closed until 7pm. The people who work/live here were not rude but definitely not overly friendly or helpful. This place has a lot of potential and could really benefit from some PR help to make it great. I just wanted to leave this real review in case anybody else was planning on spending the whole day here and would like a heads up.

Really enjoyed the trip to Homestead (actually a lot more than our trip to the Magnolia Silos) - with lunch, you’ll want to set aside at least three hours to eat & explore. Highly recommend you make meal reservation via Resy smartphone app, especially on the weekends. Get online and check out the classes they offer for various activities and even consider staying overnight at their Inn. Magnolia Silos are only 20 minutes from here and at Magnolia you really only need about 90 minutes if you’re not eating there.

Beautiful property. I would recommend making reservations as the wait can take a little bit, but the front porch is a great place to wait. Tia, our waitress, was extremely nice and answered any questions we had as this was our first time. The food was excellent and as was the service provided. We walked off lunch visiting the various shops on the property.

This was a neat stop. We saw the Weaving Shop, the Blacksmith Shop, the Coffee Shop, The Gristmill (best Oatmeal Raisin Cookie I've ever had came from here!!), the General Store, the Cheese Shop, and the Buggy Barn. It's a look into how life used to be and there are ways for you to participate also, like taking a looming or weaving class or the Fall Fair that they have Thanksgiving weekend each year. We will return.

Hand crafted type shops. The shop owners are nice and friendly. Just be aware that it is spread out so there is a lot of walking around over in even ground. Also it is a little pricey but it is mostly hand crafted items. Overall it is a neat experience. Also they offer classes from woodworking to quilting.

We enjoyed a pleasant lunch here. It was so nice to see the new building after their fire. They did a great job rebuilding. Service is always friendly, everyone you come across has a smile for you. We arrived when they opened, so there was no wait. We were seated promptly. Order taken and drinks provided in a proper time frame. I ordered the brisket quesadilla, my friend ordered the chicken fried steak. The food was hot upon arrival. My quesadilla was delicious, I would definitely order it again. And my friend seemed to enjoy the chicken fried steak. Always a friendly place to dine. We will definitely return.

Tuesday, May 16. Driving into the parking lot. Massive potholes. Wash my truck a few days ago. Started shopping in the store. Some of their products are offered at drug emporium. They’re more expensive at the marketplace. Cannot tell the difference in between their products and store-bought products. Everything was very expensive. When leaving parking lot I hit a big pothole. My truck bounced. When I got home I took a picture of my truck. I am a fixer-upper. I cannot understand why they can’t spend a few hundred dollars. In a couple hours with the tractor to fix this problem. I’ll never go back.

This was my first time to the Homestead Heritage Café even though I had been to Homestead Heritage several times (it’s a beautiful property). The Café was located in a temporary location while they were working on the original building. It kind of lacked personality but we understood it was temporary … it was clean and our server was very kind. I had the quesadilla burger with sweet potato fries, both were delicious – our server said it’s very popular while my daughter had the Southwest Veggie Sandwich, which was on the hot side (the Jalapeño bread and chipotle ranch made a lot of heat) and fruit. Our meal was $53 including tax – 2 sandwiches and 2 teas.
