Awesome diner with the absolute best staff. It feels like home every time I walk through the door! A "must stop" if you are vacationing in Manistee or just passing through.

A friend and myself stopped in to have a bite to eat. Everything was going good until I received unsavory service from some lady named Jennifer. She was very rude and acted like she didn't care about us. Almost like we were bothering her and she was just too busy to help us. I heard her cussing and yelling. I later found out she was one of the owners. Jennifer Thomson will never receive my business ever again.

I've been to a few diners but this was by far the best experience. Whether you're a local or visiting, this diner is the place to go. It had a homey feel to it mixed in with a fantastic home cooked meal. Jennie/Laverne was a stupendous host and waitress, she was able to joke around with me and my family, not to mention she is a jeep owner and traded ducks with my father in law to his jeep. The food was delicious, the people were extra friendly, it was affordable. I will definitely be back and recommend this to anyone I meet.

We go for breakfast now and then, and they are great. Definitely recommend them!

We had a wonderful breakfast experience! There was a sign posted saying short staffed… it was packed and we didn’t notice one bit. Our food came within 20 minutes and was very yummy. Our waitress Elizabeth was very kind!

Diner 31 was excellent. Breakfast was cooked perfectly, excellent coffee, many menu choices. Service was superb. We will go there again tomorrow.

Ate at the Diner 31 while traveling in Manistee, everything was tasty and fresh and service was efficient and friendly. Usual diner fair, but done well and with quality ingredients. Stop by and try their sausage gravy!

Nice and fast service, good food Will eat here again next vacation

This diner was a little hard to find. We found it online but the sign was only on the smaller sign below the one for the pier. Service was EXCELLENT! Breakfast was EXCELLENT! The word is out, this place was packed!

Let me just say that this place was fabulous. The employees the owner and the customers were awesome. Best Reuben ever. Wish I lived closer. This would be my new favorite to eat at.

My.husband and I stopped in for breakfast, and everything was delicious. We had pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, toast, and a loaded biscuits and gravy with hash browns. Everything was so good. We are way too much! Worth it. Service was outstanding, they come by regularly to fill your cups and make sure everything is great. Will definitely eat here again on our next visit.

We had breakfast here this morning and was impressed with how fast our food came out. It was hot and very good!!

I’m from the Portage area and my boyfriend has been telling me for YEARS how great Diner 31 is. It’s packed every time we go, but I finally got to experience this amazing restaurant. Everyone was super nice, including the other customers. The food was great, it was an over all great experience.

Incredible little breakfast/lunch spot. The coffee is fresh and locally sourced, they earn 5 stars for the coffee alone but the food was great too. Immaculately clean bathroom, looks like a recent remodel.

This is an absolutely fantastic place to get a fabulous breakfast, fast polite staff and friendly, delicious food and friendly atmosphere did I say fast and fantastic.

This was my first time at this restaurant. We were there for lunch. I ordered the chicken strips with fries. Yum! The waitress was super friendly and very attentive. The bathroom was pretty dark; could use some better lighting but it was clean. Would eat there again when in town.

Visited the area on vacation and was told about this little gem by word of mouth. I was very surprised by the food. Priced was great, food was excellent as well as the service. Keep in mind, this is a small restaurant, they fill up fast. I went when they were busy and waited about 15 minutes. It was well worth it. On my way out, I bought their Fireball Maple Syrup. It was so good that I bought another before leaving for home.

Came for breakfast and they had a good menu. Waitresses were very nice and fast. Food also was very fast. Their loaded biscuits and gravy is amazing and got some Iron Fish Distillery Bourbon Barrel aged maple syrup!! We definitely will be back again.

Super affordable, amazingly fast food made to order, and the staff is friendly. I definitely understand why this place is highly rated. I had to edit to add that the Tuna Melt is really good, they put a twist on this that is quite enjoyable to the taste buds.

Great diner for breakfast or lunch. Friendly staff, popular with locals, good prices. Our breakfast was really good-loaded biscuits and gravy. Yum! They also have specialty red bull drinks (non-alcoholic) and the desserts looked fabulous!

Absolutely loved this find on our travels. The servers were so friendly and the breakfast was great. We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering and our total time in the restaurant was 30 minutes. Great for groups of 2-4 but any bigger may result in a wait for a table to open up.

I’ve been coming here for many years and this is the best set of owners yet! The place looks cozy and unique. Not to mention, it has the COVID screen shields at the booths. I enjoy this because it’s accommodating the large elderly community that I’ve experienced while dining, I enjoyed my meal with comfort🥰. I enjoyed my book Burn the Place and my served asked for the name and author before I paid my tab. Lexie was so sweet and quick to take our orders. The service, food, and atmosphere are excellent and I am excited to return!

We ordered breakfast and it was delicious. So much food for the cost. Drove a half hr to get there and it was well worth it. Will for sure be back. The place was clean and the staff was super friendly.

Just a small local diner, open til 2pm. Had French toast with strawberries and a farmers skillet. Delicious! The staff was absolutely amazing!!

This Diner is an amazing place for food!! We wanted to find some breakfast after leaving the casino and found this little gem. The food was delicious. Came out super quick. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive. Place was packed. It was a wonderful experience!!

This is my favorite place in town. Easy to get to since it is on 31, and the food is always great. Be prepared for a possible wait unless you are an early bird... pretty normal for a popular place that only has about 12 tables! We have been coming here for years, and will continue to do so whenever we are in town. Not sure why it looks as though it is posted as a place to stay... definitely just a restaurant.

We are on vacation and found this gem on a web search. Almost didn’t stop thinking it looked very crowded. Glad we stopped! We did not have a wait. Great breakfast. Great service. Definitely going back!

One of the only sit down breakfast restaurants left in Manistee. Breakfast was good service was fast and pleasant.

My favorite place for breakfast.

We were in town for a wedding at the Little River Casino and resort. My family woke up wanting to get breakfast so we decided to try this restaurant because the reviews were good and it looked welcoming. When we arrived we saw other families going into the restaurant well to our surprise when we tried to go in the doors were locked and no one came to open the door. It was 10:45 am and the only reason we were not welcomed was because we are African American. But hey this is the world we live in right?

The loaded biscuits and gravy were amazing and the lady with the tattoos was super helpful with local knowledge and helping explain things around the area.

Top notch Breakfast and it seems everyone there enjoys there job because they are all very kind and friendly. * irish skillet was wonderful and the rye toast without a doubt is by far the best marble rye bread i have ever eaten. Best breakfast place! We were on vacation and came here 3 days in a row lol. I’m hard to please with breakfast and everything we ordered was perfect. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

I visit almost every summer and most winters and this is the first time I've been here, and I wish I would've came sooner. I also wish I had 3 stomachs so I could try more than one item on the menu. The food was delicious and the service was friendly, fast, and welcoming. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Had breakfast on a Sunday morning, was a little bit of a wait but well worth it! Very popular, not a huge amount of seating but service was quick and food was fresh and good!

Service was excellent and we loved the ambiance. We stopped here on our way up north for breakfast and the food just wasn’t good! Our eggs were far overcooked and hard. I ordered a spinach and feta omelette ( the hippie) and they used canned spinach which I’ve never heard of in an omelette as fresh is so easy and inexpensive. It really was inedible. Maybe it was a bad day? I’ll try again someday and find out!

Loved this small diner. Ordered to go twice in 2 days and was very pleased. Their biscuits and gravy melt right in your mouth and very delicious. Tried other breakfast items and was very pleased. Keep up the good work.
