I've heard raving reviews for DJ's Clam Shack's lobster roll. I had to come try it for myself. Arriving, we immediately regretted choosing to dine here. The place was tiny and a complete hotbox. The kitchen encircles the dine in area. I'm not sure about the back seating because we took the front seat to look out onto the street but it was miserably hot. Props to the workers. Who were very kind. The guy taking orders up front did a great job striking up conversation with every patron that came in. I wanted a little bit of everything! They have a great menu. My party of 3 tried the clam chowder soup, the lobster roll, the fried clam strips, the fried shrimp and the chicken tenders. What I didn't like - fries came with everything. We had too many fries amongst the 3 of us. Hate for it to go to waste like that. They should create sides of these dishes without fries. We loved everything. The lobster roll was probably not the best lobster roll I've ever had though. It was good. And the meat was deliciously fresh. But it was lacking a wow factor. I enjoyed the clam strips more actually. Surprisingly my boyfriend also loved their chicken tenders here. All in all, a good lunch.

I usually stop by this great seafood joint every time I'm in Key West! By far, the best conch fritters on Duvall St and their lobster roll was unreal too!! Great after a few beers at Sloppy Joe's!! lol!

Lobster roll is on point and the coleslaw is the perfect accompaniment. My boyfriend had the Mahi Mahi Tacos. So much he couldn't finish it. A must stop on your list.

The chicken impeccable. Literally no other restaurant in key west can compare. They actually care here. The people, the staff, my friend John, bro he's awesome. It might be The Clam Shack but we all know it's The Best Shack

Ya’ll the lobster roll here is the best I’ve ever had. It is full of lobster and flavor. It is well worth the price! Not much seating but friendly staff, cold beer and convenient. Best on the island in my opinion!! I can’t wait to go back. I’m telling all my friends do NOT miss this place.

Great conch fritters and fish tacos!

My wife and I had a fantastic time at this spot. We sat at the front to enjoy some cold beers and fresh fried clams. The fries were crispy and came with a surprisingly good honey mustard sauce. We loved people-watching on Duval Street from our seats right by the sidewalk. The service was excellent as well. Highly recommend this place!

This place served the best lobster roll that I've ever had. The roll was stuffed with lots of lobster chunks. The buttery taste of the roll was fantastic and the lobsters were very flavorful and sweet. There wasn't much service or ambiance to speak of, and the bathroom door lock was also not working when I was there, but if you would ignore all that, the lobster roll was great! I also tried their clam chowder, which was fine, but their fried stuff were very mediocre.

Wow this place does not disappoint if you are a lobster lover , the roll will have you come back for seconds ! Fresh lobster meat , with soft buttery roll , it is just so delicious , even forgot it was 100 degrees haha! Worth every penny , recommend this place anytime you come to key west .

An unassuming hole in the wall with amazing food! We had the overstuffed lobster roll, conch fritters and onion rings. Everything was delicious! The lobster was fresh and lightly dressed. The Cole slaw was so good I could’ve had 3 sides of that alone. And the onion rings are homemade, perfectly seasoned and crunchy. If you’re looking for good, fresh food, don’t hesitate to stop here.

It’s a small place but their lobster roll is the best I’ve ever had!

It is a seafood delicacy from the East Coast with fresh and delicious ingredients. I have tasted similar flavors in the three maritime provinces of Canada. The only downside for us was that the shop was similar to a street food shop and had no air conditioning. At noon in the southernmost tip of Florida at the end of July, it is indeed a challenge to enjoy hot food while sweating!

Good grief, this place is good. Featured on “Diners, Drive-ins & Dives,” the lobster roll is not a thing to be missed. When they say they don’t skimp on the lobster; they mean it. I pulled two full claws out of my sandwich when I first bit into it, and it’s served on Texas toast with a side of coleslaw. Freaking delicious.

Sat at the bar watching people go by on Duval Street is an excellent way to entertain yourself while eating a delicious basket of clam strips and fries. It was a heaping basket! Forgot to take a picture until I was full! Loved it. They have clam strips and full belly Ipswich clams, both are delicious. They are famous for their Lobster roll but let me tell you, their fries are crispy and delicious! Closed from 4pm-5pm.

Smaller, finer. Tasty snack with nice seating. Freshly prepared food. We recommend grilling shrimp rolls. Very nice staff. A must in the Keys...!

Amazing lobster rolls!!! We ate here twice on our visit to KW. $25 lobster rolls but like I said we ate here twice in 4 days!! Small place and I suggest going about 11:30 am or after 1pm.

Holy cow, the lobster roll and Mahi tacos are so good its almost unreal. The staff treat you like family. This place deserves extra stars for being so good. 10 out of 10 would definitely eat again

Delicious seafood and a dog-friendly patio! We enjoyed fresh shrimp, creamy clam chowder, and local ales on the open deck. DJ's Shack even brought out a water bowl for our Standard Poodle, Toby, who loved soaking up the Key West sunshine. Great casual spot for a delicious meal.

Service was great and the food was pretty good! We ordered the steamed garlic clams which were to die for! The fried chicken tenders and fried clams which are pretty damn good! We didn’t care for the conch fritters and seating was very limited. Other wise would recommend trying out! I would definitely come back just for the garlic clams

DJ's offers a limited menu which allows the restaurant to specialize in just a few seafood items. It is well worth a visit.

The hype for this lobster roll is sooooo worth it! Everything was so delicious. Even the habanero sauce that they had was full of flavor and the right amount of heat that goes so well with the roll. Divine!! Will be coming back!

The place to try the famous lobster rolls, but also other equally good à la carte dishes. You can sit there even if there isn't much space. We recommend!

Perfect place to grab lunch when we were wearing our swimsuits. The lobster roll was overflowing and buttery and the beer was really cold. You might get lucky and have a spot on the front patio so you can people watch and get a good downtown vibe.

OMG!!! The food is super fresh and super good! I had the conch fritters and they had big pieces of conch in them. The lobster roll is AMAZING & that garlic roll its on, 🥰! The fried shrimp were big and cooked perfect. The staff is super friendly. The location is great for people watching on Duvall! I will DEFINITELY be back before I leave Key West!

Really solid food, they even gave us some on the house. I think it’s overpriced but it was delicious. The shrimp roll and the lobster roll were both delicious. Definitely worth going, but don’t expect an outdoor dining food stand type price.

One of the few places in Key West that has calm chowder. And as a claim chowder self proclaimed connisuer I would say it was mediocre at best. I ordered the clam strips and what we got were clam crumbs.. the basket was filled with tiny crumb pieces that honestly I dont know if there were even clam.in that batter. We forego ordering the lobster rolls cuz the are $25 a pop and done Duval St, The Conch Shack has them for $22 and they stuff the roll with lobster meat. So we didn't order them because we figured if it was anything like the clam strip the rolls would be all bread and no lobster meat. All in all 3 out of 5 because the food wasn't terrible (its just regular diner food) and the kid at the cashier was awesome with the customer service.

Everyone told us this was the place for a lobster roll. They were right!! Now we will tell everyone we know. The roll was awesome and the fried shrimp was equally great.

I had read that it was one of the best places to eat a lobster roll in Key West, and it’s true! The brioche bread is incredible, the pieces of lobster generous, all served in an open terrace with a beautiful atmosphere and good service, the price is justified!

Came highly recommended from a friend. Absolutely lived up to the recommendation. The Lobster Roll was awesome but the sleeper surprise were the Mahi Mahi Tacos my wife got... we've had fish tacos all over the place and these were hands down in the top couple!

Honestly I don't eat seafood but their chicken tacos are the best! And Jon who runs the counter is quite possibly the nicest guy who lives in Key West and always goes above and beyond with directions and whatever else you could possibly need!

We actually avoided eating here, at first, because many places get too big for their britches once they get the notoriety of the Food Network. However, this place was sooooo good! We ate a ton of different places over the visit, with one disappointment after another, and I figured I'd just add this to the list. Not at all. The clam chowder was AMAZING! The portions were hardy, seasoned well, and completely fresh. I had take-out fish tacos at another place, and it was just thrown in separate contains straight from the store. DJ's fish tacos were built, flavorful, and abundant, even after the 10-minute drive back to our place. Every last thing was great, down to the coleslaw! I am so glad I went ahead and gave it a try!

People here are so friendly, nice and exceptional experience. The food is pretty good, and the atmosphere, especially after sunset, could be great night views since the mornings are very hot during this season.

After a hot day of exploring the Keys, this spot truly hit the mark. Our order was taken by John, an incredibly friendly and down-to-earth guy who made the experience memorable. With four of us indecisive about what to order, John’s patience and thoughtful questions were invaluable, assuring us this was a common occurrence. We ultimately decided on four lobster rolls and an order of fried clams. These lobster rolls feature Maine lobsters, and despite not being local, the prices are better than those in Maine, easing any hesitation about the cost. The rolls themselves were a revelation: buttered and toasted to perfection, generously stuffed with succulent lobster that made every bite a delight. The only areas needing improvement were the fries and coleslaw, but the fried clams were exceptional. This will definitely be my go-to place on future visits.

I didn't want to leave Key West without tasting a lobster roll. We chose this open-air restaurant on Duval Street and I didn't regret it. I enjoyed my lobster roll. The bread was buttery, garlicky and lemony and added a little extra flavor to this well-filled lobster sandwich. The price is not cheap but the quality and quantity are worth it. My husband chose chicken nuggets and he also enjoyed it. At the time of our arrival, there were people but we managed to find a table to sit and eat. To do if you pass through Key West and like lobster rolls.

It's a January Sunday, the sun is shining, you order a delicious crab sandwich and shrimp with fries. You sit at a table on the veranda overlooking the street where a tourist trolley with smiling people passes every now and then, and roosters walk around, ignoring the crowds of tourists. Quickly served, eaten at your own pace and you can continue exploring Key West, I recommend it!

Every time, when come vacation in Key West. We will have lunch at DJ's Clam Shack, will die for lobster roll and stream clam.

Lobster roll was delicious and clam chowder was almost as good as the clamps chowder from Boston. Nice chill atmosphere in the back. The local beer is delicious. This is on the main strip, gotta find parking off the strip.

We came for the lobster roll after people stated it was the best in Key West. I would vote a 7 out of a 10 . When I went to pay with a credit card they asked if I could pay cash....I found that odd.

If you're looking for a very good lobster roll, this is a good place to go and you also gotta get the sweet potato fries with it. It's very delicious and will crave your hunger!!!

The lobster is incredibly fresh, and even reheating it doesn't compromise the taste. Another popular option is the Garlic Steamed Middle Neck Clams ($15), served with two slices of French bread. The base is a mixture of garlic and butter soup. Personally, I find that the clams themselves already bring a salty flavor, so choosing a butter with added salt might not be necessary. The soup has a rich and savory taste, and since the clams are thoroughly cleaned without any sand, you can skip this dish if you prefer.

Arguably the best place we ate while in Key West. The food was excellent with reasonable prices and large portions. Even with it just being counter-service, the server asked how long we were in town and made some recommendations for things to do. I would absolutely go back.
