This was the second time I have been to this restaurant. The first time the food was very bland and NOT good Mexican. I did give it a second shot, this time was two days ago for breakfast takeout. I got 3 breakfast burritos that were $4 a piece and were very small and then we got sick!! Vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours. Sorry but not worth it.

The hostess was very helpful in making our selection since we are vegetarians. Her suggestions made the food delicious. Ask for the spicy red sauce. Best Mexican restaurant in Lakeland!

I do have to say this was the WORST service and meal I’ve had in a restaurant. The servers were rude to the point of talking about you to the others when you asked for something that had them do a little extra work. Which I’m only talking about asking for boxes and containers to go. They did not hide their disdain at all. Not to talk about the food, ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR at all! Where were all the Mexican flavors/spices???? None here. If you like bland food then this is the place for you otherwise don’t bother wasting your money!!! Very disappointing!!

So disappointed! Ordered a soup, chips and salsa and drink. They forgot the drink (no big deal) but the chips were stale and the soup had no flavor. This used to be my favorite place for chicken and rice soup but it's been a while since I've gone. I will not be back.

The best thing about this restaurant is if you ask them to put a little burn on the corn tortillas, they do it very well. Of course you shouldn't have to ask. I had the Carne guisada which is nit a common thing to find so that was great but I would rate it as just okay. I would say that you would enjoy going to Dona Julia's but it isn't amazing.

I always like to give a place a second chance. We went here several years ago and did not care for the food. Stopped in today for lunch to give it another chance. Good: Fast and friendly service Clean Chips Red Salsa (I am not a huge cumin fan and this salsa has a strong cumin taste - if you like cumin you will love this salsa) Green Salsa (hot) - delicious Not so good: Main entree’s - very under seasoned Besides salt on the chips I never use salt or pepper at a Mexican restaurant, I had to use both here. The corn tortillas used in my enchiladas fell apart and crumbled when cutting. My wife’s beef chimichanga was also very under seasoned.

This place is amazing! The service is outstanding. Everybody is so attentive. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. A lot of food and it is not expensive at all. We order Club sandwich and chopped steak, super delicious!

Not able to give this restaurant a very good rating because they advertise as Mexican Food but it is not. The food has been Americanized and I don’t even think they have a person there that works who knows the Mexican cuisine and recipes. you can’t order Mexican style tacos just forget about it. If you’re expecting the trailer style tacos, then don’t order or go to this restaurant. If you are craving American style tacos, then yes they have what you want.

My family and I adore Dona Julia’s; we've been regulars for years. The restaurant offers fantastic and affordable Mexican dishes. What makes it even more enjoyable is the exceptional treatment and appreciation we receive from the staff. This level of customer service is hard to come by elsewhere. We absolutely love this establishment.

All I wanted was an option or ability to have a smaller portion of queso to put on my chimichanga as I was eating it. But apparently they only have one size that's over $6, more than half the cost of the meal. I’m new to the area and live just 5 min from this place and was excited due to the reviews, Mexican food is my favorite and I would've came frequently. But if something as small as getting a smaller portion of queso seems impossible to them, I'll never go here. It's the small things that make a restaurant, not corporate greedyness.

We tried this place a couple months ago for the first time. My wife found it and we love Mexican food. All I can say is that it’s become one of our favorite Friday night places to eat. The food is delicious and the price is cheap. We definitely recommend eating here.

I've eaten here before covid and was great, after covid the portions have became the size of a kids meal. There is a charge for chips and salsa which was free before. While dining in you could over hear servers asking about who used too many napkins.

Finally got to Dona Julia's. It's been on my list awhile. I was surprised at the size, much smaller and more intimate than I expected. No problem getting a table, service was great. Food was excellent and portions were large. We had leftovers for lunch the next day! I had the sampler platter and my friend had the burrito loco(?). Highly recommend you give it a try. I'll be going back soon.
