I stopped in to get a $35 set of handle bars for my son’s bike. The employee who sold them to me assured me they would accept a return if I got home and they didn’t fit. Sadly that’s exactly what happened and they didn’t fit. When I returned 48 hours later to make the return a different employee behind the counter told me there would be a 25% restocking fee. Totally deceiving but I still accepted and wanted to move on. When he handed my receipt back I noticed I was only refunded $21. They ended up keeping 35% with zero communication. Not sure what happened from the first employee I encountered to the last but what an extremely unprofessional and awfully messy experience. Seemed pretty straightforward, sad it ended with them being so desperate they hassled a customer for a few dollars. Save the money, time and dissatisfaction and STAY AWAY.

Rented an eBike from Einstein for the Tart trails--the bike was great, the sevice was great, even the location by the trail is great!

I cannot thank Einstein Cycles enough for the quick service they provided me. I was on a yearly camping bike trip on the Manistee trail when I fell and bent my front bike rim. I left my trip and came into Einstein Cycle. The rep could not have been nicer. He quickly went to see if they had a replacement rim in stock. They did luckily. He moved over my disc brake & tread to the new rim in under 30 mins. He didn't require me to get an appointment first. Didn't over charge me when I was in a time in need. He just helped me get back on my trip as soon as possible. I am not local but they definitely earned a customer for life

Saved me on my bikepacking trip! They got my bike set up with premium parts and got me out the door and back o the road in no time. Great guys and great service!

My wife and I rented e-bikes for them for a day. We had amazing experience and the customer staff was very friendly. Right next to our hotel so we could walk there along with walk back. The front desk gave us great areas to bike as we were not biking experts. we definitely go there again and highly recommend anybody looking to rent bikes or purchase bikes.

Bryce set us up with 2 great road bikes and a lock for 24 hours. We were able to zip into Traverse City two times and this place is a mile or less from the state park. Great service - great deal!

Great shop for renting bikes from in Traverse City. Super friendly and helpful staff and the bikes were great. We had a mix up on the times of which caused us to be late but they were very nice about it and accommodating. Highly recommend and thanks for hooking us up with bikes for a great day biking the peninsula.

Used EC for 2 bike rentals. Super friendly team there, great location right next to our hotel, and bikes were great. Gave us helmets and a lock so we could stay safe and secure too! Would certainly use them again.

It was a really fun day and by using E bikes, we were able to show our out of country guests much more of the beauty of our area.

Was there for 15 min with no asking if I needed help or anything .. I guess not going to bike here !

So nice I had to review these guys twice. First and foremost Trevor and David are such awesome people. You can tell they care about making sure the customers are happy with their purchase. Too many shops of all kinds sell you something and basically cut ties. Not these guys. I am sure I wore out my welcome a time (I'm a nut job) or two but Trevor was more than helpful and patient and got me the bike of my dreams and he's the man for it. Thanks again guys and to anyone looking for anything be sure to check them out. We need more shops and people like this.

Einstein saved the day! A short way into a ride last Sunday, I I lost two of the three bolts that held cleats on my shoes. The awesome service person at Einstein repaied the cleat and I was back on the road. Thank you Einstein!

Renting was super easy. Friendly staff. Didnt feel like we got great advice on how to manage the power as we could have cranked it up much more for a 40 mile ride. However, 10 miles in to the ride, one of the 3 bikes had no power and the display stopped. We rode it without power for another 10 and called the store. Another worker told us to turn it on and off as if we didnt try that bunch. They couldn't or wouldn't trouble shoot it or offer to bring a new bike over our lunch break in suttons bay. Then the bike was ridden without power and several attempts to fix it back 20 miles. same guy takes the bike, rides around the lot and says the bike is fine. . Made good with a credit but would rather have had help en route for a better experience

I never leave good reviews but Einstein Cycles and specifically Lois (I believe?) Was absolutely amazing. Super helpful and made buying my first bike in over a decade a breeze. Was ready for me to pickup even after they had closed. You guys are the best and thank you so much for the help. P.s. Lois needs a raise or a free bike or some parts or something as a bonus because she's the jam. Thanks again!

Einstein Cycles is an amazing bike shop. I was experiencing issues with my bike on a ride and called Einstein to inquire about the part needed to be replaced. They not only had the part, Dave scheduled me to have a repair the next day, as soon as I could arrive. When I arrived at the shop, Kevin took my bike in and did an excellent chain and cassette replacement. The shop is a cool spot with lots of bikes and bike accessories to check out. The staff here were soo friendly and courteous, I can't recommend their shop enough.

These guys were great. Quality bikes and knowledgeable staff made for an amazing 44-mile trip!

3 Ebikes made it all the way to Mission point lighthouse. Im 240 lbs. We had power set to 2 on most on the way there with brief 3s and 4s. After we were halway back we felt bold enough to get into 4s and 5s the last leg. Granted they were about dead. But the bikes easily made the trip;)

Bought my kids bike there. Within a few months the rear freewheel was grinding. They got us in, fixed the problem ASAP. We’re super nice to work with. Highly recommend!

Took my Ebike to 2 other bike shops in Traverse City and they wouldn’t fix it. Brought it to Einstein and they will fix any bike no matter what class!

I reached out to them a couple of months ago about buying a Kona Kahuna. Immediately Trevor responded & I ask him if I bought it would he deliver it to Petoskey in mid June when we came up for the summer. Took delivery today & am very impressed with him, & the dealership! I recently had an issue with my Salsa bicycle I needed the dealer to communicate and collaborate with Salsa to effectively address the issue. Despite all the potential pitfalls with the current supply chain Dustin at Einstein resolved the issue by working with Salsa and kept me abreast of the progress. I was back out riding my bike yesterday and I am grateful to Dustin, Einstein Cycles, and Salsa. I recommend them highly.

I was up in the Traverse City area for vacation and of course broke my seat post collar. I could not find the correct size anywhere but when I called Ben at Einstein he offered to go above and beyond to help. His wife had Pugsley at home so he offered to run home and sell me her seat post collar. I do not think I would have been able to ride without his help. No where else had a collar to fit a Pugsley in stock. Guys are super friendly and his offer was huge. Thanks again for the great service. I may be back for a Large Frank soon!

Had a flat while out riding, I stopped by and they had it fixed in 15 minutes.

They don't do bike rentals anymore, but it's listed as a service on this page. Minus two stars for that _but_ plus one start because the staff was very friendly and she shared her knowledge about the area along with a brochure with a map of area trails that I'll be walking 😂 with my family. Nice clean store with friendly staff. Interesting bicycles too.

Ordered and purchased new bike and couldn’t be happier. Staff was super chill and knowledgable when I stopped in several times before making a decision. Once I made up my my mind they ordered the bike and had it built out in less than a week. Was super happy to get in time for a sunny weekend.

Got by wife's beater tuned up to include a flat repair. Took bike home. Discoverd front flat in April. Used compressor only to blow out same front tire. Lost receipt. David fixed it, no charge. Einstein's rocks! ..

Was in TC for the King Vasa Race over the weekend and pre-rode the course on Thursday. It was Icy and wife was like..."I'm Out!" Then she suggested studded tires and was all on board of course (if it kept her in the race). I called around to 4 shops and EC was the only shop who had studded tires in stock...and for both my 27.5 and her 26" bikes. We bought 45nrth tires, and the shop had them on in 1.5 hours, tubeless on friday in time to get back out and try them out. Long story short - wife took 3rd overall in the Short race and we both loved the new rubber. Service was outstanding and they did a great job of setting up the bikes. Shop was literally across the street from our hotel so that was a bonus! will definitely be our TC bike shop of choice from now on!!! Thanks EC for helping keep our racing plans alive and my wife's iron!!

supper friendly and great bikes

We came in for Labor Day weekend and knew I had a flat that needed to be addressed. Came in after five thinking I would have to drop it off being close to closing time. The fella (I wish I could remember his name) had me in and out in 10 minutes with a new tube at a affordable rate. The bike shop itself seems very professional, up to date and clean. Thanks again for the speedy service and professionalism.

Awesome place with friendly fast service. Showed up at 530 From out of town and they helped fix a problem with my wheels and did so before they closed at 6 PM. Had an amazing selection of mountain and gravel bikes

This place is awesome, great friendly service for my family. We rented bikes from them for two adults, younger capable rider, and a pull behind buggy for the little one. You can hit a nice trail right from the parking lot!! Awesome place awesome people!!!

I love that they give discounts on bike rentals for groups. The service was friendly, the bikes were great, and they were super helpful. We ended up coming back a few minutes late but they understood and didn’t penalize us. Super cool place.

Overhauled my road bike, great job new rear derailleur hanger cables bike to bits and back over the weekend. Just outfitted a new road bike from their house custom design should be awesome.

Fixed my bike quickly and the cost was extremely reasonable. I plan to buy a bike from them when I am ready. Update...I rented a hybrid bike from them yesterday for about four hours. The process was smooth, easy and the bike was adjusted to me in a short time. Another service that I recommend.

These guys helped me fix a leaking tire valve for free. It was a simple fix, but it was done with a smile, along with some friendly recommendations for local biking. I'm not from the area, but if I was, I would return to this bike shop for my biking needs.

I arrived from out of town with no bike shoes. Argh! They had a selection of shoes and found some that I liked and fit perfect. The guy was focused on my need. I really appreciated that. The Traverse Area Recreation Trail (TART) passes by the shop. Park at Einstein, get an energy bar there, and use the paved trail to get to the Old Mission Peninsula loop. Very scenic ride along the bay to Old Mission Lighthouse. Or stay on the TART trail and it will connect with the Leelanau Trail which will take you to the village of Suttons Bay for ice cream, snack, and or a beverage.

Always a wonderful experience at Einstein!!

A top-notch shop with a great selection, fair prices, and sharp staff. Owner Jason was very helpful in steering me to the perfect bike from what I originally came in for. Dan built me up SWEET custom wheels. I worked in shops growing up and spend a lot of time in them now, so I know a good one when I see it. These guys are first-rate. Was really impressed with how they handled customers coming in to rent bikes, too -- lots of personal attention to ensure a successful experience. Very highly recommended!

Great place to rent a bike & hop on the Tart Trail. Plenty of parking to drop & ride.

Where to start? From the owner to the mechanics this is a world class bike shop! They made sure I was buying what I would enjoy the best, I tested several bike setups. Ended up buying a Bearclaw- great bike and very exclusive. How about service after purchase? Was joining three other guys for a ride at 3:30. Break had an issue- they diagnosed it over the phone at 2:30, it was manufacturing defect. They put a replacement on it and I made my ride. I can't give enough praise for those guys. They earn your business and keep you happy after the sale! Thanks Einstein Cycles.

Was in town after my first gen fat bike broke down. Demoed a Bearclaw that day. I called them up a week later to buy one and they had it ready at the end of the week. Picked it up and raced Ore to shore on it the next day. Seat was squeaking so they took a seat off one of the slow racers that works in shop named Clowey or Kodi.

Great bike shop, but more importantly, they're a fantastic asset to the Traverse City biking community. They organize a ton of fun group rides and, along with some other local shops and groups, are a strong voice in the community for more bike paths, trails and bike safety awareness. This is what every bike shop should be, fast service, best prices and easily the best attitude towards all types of cycling! The friendly, laid back atmosphere and the fact that the staff remember who you are makes the whole experience top notch. I live in Traverse city and have 2 other shops within a few blocks of where I live but would rather take the time and go a little extra distance because this shop is worth it every time! The showroom selection is impressive and so is their attitude towards community riding with a full calendar of events and races. If you bike, want to bike or just like shiny toys, this is the place to go!

We were up in traverse city vacationing and had a tire blow out on the trail. We bought the bike in and they helped us replace the tire quickly so we could go on our merry little way. Also, most of them had a very keen sense of style. Most impressed

These are the guys to go to. Incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and active in the community. They are located right next to the bike trail system, so you can try before you buy. They also do custom bike fitting, which is extremely helpful. I usually do not write reviews of businesses unless they truly stand out. A+

In a town with lots of great bike shops and bike people - Einstein shines with an "everyone is welcome" attitude regardless of whether you are an elite racing animal or a dad trying to find the right first bike for your kid. They have expertise and vision that is broader than road or mountain - be it adventure cycling, singlespeed off road, cyclocross, fat bike and the rest. They have a great selection of bikes, rentals and "stuff" and a superb service/tech team who take the time to really explain a technical issue if you're into that. This crew loves what they do and it shows.

Awesome Bike Shop and customer service! Jason and his crew promote the sport with the highest integrity and encourage people of all levels to ride and have a great time. I did a custom BMC build with them and they took the time before and after the sale to make sure I was satisfied with the bike. I trusted them to recommend a most of the components and they exceeded the expectations I had. I absolutely love the bike and will continue to buy all my biking gear from them. They are the model for how a bike shop should be done!

I spent a long time saving up for my first road bike and visited 5 bike shops in the Traverse City area to price bikes and equipment. I was new to high-end bike lingo and bike shop culture (i.e. an easy target). Einstein Cycles was the last shop that I visited; if I had visited them first, I would have saved myself a lot of time. The honest salesmanship, great atmosphere and encouragement that they give to every customer who enters the shop makes them far and away the best in the area. Of all the shop owners and salespeople in town, Jason was the only person who actually talked about the merits of each and every bike (even the ones he doesn't sell) that I was looking to buy and what ALL of my options were from the products that they have or could order. (Most of the other shops tried pushing me toward one specific bike that they wanted to get rid of or sell.) Every time I'm in the shop I see the staff encouraging people to get out and ride, no matter what skill level or how fancy their bike is.

It doesn't matter if you're a pro or a first timer, you will get treated with respect. 5. They have a great stock of parts of accessories. 6. They are located right on the busy TART trail and minutes from the epic VASA trail system. The only things I would add are: When you read stories in magazines about what a cool bike shop is, this is it. Not alot of that at other TC 'shops' Also they are smack next door to a really good coffee shop on one side, and an autoparts store on the other!!! I only mention that because Ive had to use it! lol, and I really like Crow About It Coffee next door!

Jason and his crew do an exemplary job of what customer service in a bike shop should be. If you are male or female, buying a $300 hybrid or $6000 race bike, everyone gets a friendly, honest and easy going buying experience. Service turn around times are quick and the work is top notch. Whether you are just getting started on the bike paths or a seasoned pro, there they are an awesome shop to work with.

Einsten Cycles is an incredible bike shop! They specialize in high-end bikes, equipment, and clothing, but what makes them stand above the rest is their customer service. I've never had a bad experience there. If you need something they don't have, they can get it for you. The repair shop and work that comes out of there is first-rate.
