Been eating food specially the chicken tacos from this place for more then 23 years, they my favorite i love it.

Best chicken burrito supreme I have ever had!!! Carry out only and family owned. Accepts only cash but has an ATM on site. It is important to support local businesses.

I don’t understand these reviews — there are definitely better and cheaper Latino restaurants in northern VA. I ordered tacos and pupusas from here. Tacos were horrible but the pupusas were just ok. Prices are cheap and it’s cash only. They got my order wrong and forgot to give me two tacos I had ordered. l was also one of 2 customers in there and I waited 40 minutes for a small order.

Amazing food at a great price. Tempo can be high sometimes so it’s best to know what you want to eat when you get there! Wish we found this place sooner!

It is the last time I visit this place, terrible atmosphere, the food is very far from being Mexican or Salvadoran. And the times I've been to this place there is this fat man charging and taking orders who seems to be very unfriendly and bleeding!!

Los tacos son buenos no lo niego los precios accesibles pero la limpieza deja mucho que pensar ya que de frente se ve choriado y el piso no se muy limpio la verdad eso deja que pensar recomiendo pintar y limpiar más para que lleguen más clientes.

Steak and cheese has gone from $5 to $7 in the past few years but is still a bargain. The plantains are good, not sure why they come with refried beans but the salty and sweet are a nice pairing. The papusas are good too.

Some things to know before going to El Charrito Caminante: - The parking is pretty limited - They only accept cash (there's a 7-11 with an ATM next to the restaurant) - They only have room for one person to dine in The food here is cheap and filling, I usually get some kind of burrito and it's always delicious.

Everything on the menu is good. It’s not nice inside and the service is curt but the food never misses.

For the price its a steal. Everything is excellent. Even the steak and cheese is the best I've ever had!! The chorizo burrito is my favorite. Just be prepared to not eat there. There's only a few benches right on the counter. I recommend you call ahead once you grab a menu from the first time. Cash only too! If you forget there is an ATM inside.

I had the tacos. Tortillas were homemade. Very good. Sauce was nice and spicy. Lots of onions which is not a big deal I just removed some.

Not very good, dirty, tacos have very little meat. Is definitely better than taco bell but is just not at the standard I've seen Mexican food to be.

Although it may not look like much, El Charrito has some of the best Mexican and El Salvadorian food in the DC area. I've been to this place at least a couple dozen times and never had a bad experience. Please note that it's cash only. They have an ATM in the restaurant. **Food** The menu is fairly simple but allows for many combinations with the different meat options. Burrito Supreme: A staple I order on every visit. It's filled with rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and your choice of cheese. I usually get the chicken which is very good, but have also ordered the chorizo (a little salty) and the goat (which is unique and has solid flavor). The burrito itself is not huge but not small either. Tacos: They come in two corn tortillas with your choice of meat. A great choice and combined with the burrito supreme is the right amount of food. Pupupas: Comes with your choice of meat or veggie. The herb pupusa is my favorite and worth trying. Green Sauce: So amazing and it really helps bring out the flavors in the burritos and tacos. If you're taking out, they usually include some with your order. Be careful as this can sometimes be very spicy. **Ambiance** Not fancy by any means. There are a few stools where you can eat at the counter, but really it's meant for take out orders. **Service** The guy taking orders is very stoic and straight to the point. Don't expect anywhere close to white tablecloth service here. **Other Tips** Call in order in advance to save some time. This places get very busy at times, so you may have to wait up to 15 minutes if you don't order beforehand.

Yummy! Great pupusas and burritos. The veggie burrito is the best, beans, avocado, crema, cilantro and beans on a flour tortilla folded over. Tamales are good too. Inexpensive and cash only. Expect to wait as food is made to order.

Double layered corn tortillas fried on the flat top, topped with slow cooked juicy goat meat, sprinkled with fresh green onion and cilantro. Walk in with cash, order a few, eat at the bar (non-alcoholic) or take it home! Don't have a pic, tacos are gone before I think about it.

TECC knows tacos! The cabrito/goat is outstanding, tortillas are freshly made and the little bits of radish are a great touch. Chorizo and pork are good as well. Definitely worth a try. Take a bag of tacos to go and sit in nearby Lyon Park for a relaxing lunch.

Have eaten here a few times, food is average, service is fair, price is right for cheap eats. $2.50 for tacos I recommend the chicken as they don't have ground beef and the steak is chewy. Chicken tacos are great, even if I order a main meal of something else I always have one or two on the side. Worth a try. Cash only.

My go-to, always-good taco spot is in Alexandria but I'm always up for finding new taco joints in the area. It's hard to come across really authentic places, so when I find one I hold on for dear life. Unfortunately El Charrito Caminante is not going to be one of those places. It looks promising from a first glance. It has the markings of an authentic taco joint. Four stars and almost 400 reviews, inconspicuous hole in the wall, cash only, open kitchen. I ordered one goat and one pork taco, and I shared a frijoles (beans) pupusa with my boyfriend. The goat taco was good. Tender meat and paired with the soft shell, cilantro (very heavy on cilantro), and onions. However, the pork taco was not good. Pork was too rough. It was like tearing through raw meat. The pupusa was very good, but after all - it is a thick, handmade corn tortilla filled with beans and served with marinated cabbage. Hard to go wrong with that. The marinated cabbage was really good. Would I go out of my way for El Charrito? No, but if I'm ever in the neighborhood craving goat tacos and pupusas, I'd be happy to pop back in again.

I love this place and it is rapidly becoming my favorite get away lunch spot. Let's be honest it!s a dive. But the food ricks and you can't beat the prices. Tacos are half the price of the mainstream district taco but five times as good. The yuca con chicharon comes with four or five meaty not fatty pork bits. Once you eat burrito yo will never ever go to chipotle if you live nearby. Closed on Tuesdays, only five/six stools at the counter and no A/C. But if you grab your food for take out there is a beautiful park with picnic benches two blocks away. If you live in Lyon village and aren't eating regularly your missing out. I drive over from foggy bottom just for lunch. You can't be disappointed by this restaurant.

Made while you wait, the pupusas are a great deal and good if you need to grab a snack to go. They are served with tangy slaw and sauce in aluminum foil hot off the griddle so they are steaming hot! There are a few bar stools at the counter, so if you like very casual dining this is the place. Sweet Mexican sodas, too.

So I took some student to El Charrito today for a lunch adventure and was very happy with our decision to dine here. Just picked this place randomly and decided to check it out. So its 90% takeout food but there are about 10 stools to sit on at the bar area where the food is served. It got faily busy and the food comes up quickly. Very authentic Salvadorian Pupusas stuffed with your choice of chicken, chees, beans, herbs or mixed. I two of those with two of the beef tacos which were very delicous as well. Some of the others got a variety of items like the Tamales con Pollo and the fried plantains. If you are on a budget this is the place to get lunch for around $5. I couldnt eat all of the food I ordered but you can get a tamale for a $1.50. If you are in the area I would give it a try if you like this type of food. I shall return!

I went to El Carrito's to try out these pupusas that I kept reading about. I was not disappointed. I got a combo that included a cheese pupusa and a chicken taco. Those items were great. I added a chorizo taco too and the cilantro and lime made the flavors on the tacos perfect. I also had steak and rice with my combo. The rice was bland and the steak a bit tough. I think I will stick to the burritos, tacos, and pupusas next time. I topped off my meal with a Jarritos lime soda, made in México. I will definitely go back. Parking can be a bit tight, I parked at the 7-11 next door. Fyi-cash only establishment.
