Good local spot if you live in Logan Square to get some tacos. A bit pricey but overall good taste. At first the gentleman at the counter was a bit unfriendly but by the end of our dinner he seemed fine. Will def come again.

Really good pambazos! However, this place seems to have inconsistent hours of operation. They need to update their business hours in consideration of customer’s time.

I’ve been here a handful of times, bringing new customers every time anyone wants to try New Mexican food. The food never disappoints and neither does the service. Until I came in recently and a younger guy yells out, “ it’s cash or Venmo only “. Rather than greet and ask us, “Have you all been here before?” - been here many times. I’m sure their regulars know it’s cash only. Must be the owners family or the owner? because why would you hire such a rude person to be the face of your business. Ordering was awkward as he seemed very uninterested in being there. I hope no one is ever as miserable as he was. That’s gotta suck. Then tops it off by simply saying, “menus?”. Luckily the lady that is always there, which I assume is the owner, came by to save the service from becoming more unbearable.. she is very sweet and attentive.

If i order & tell you just chesse & meat thats what i want. They NEVER get the orderd correct

The good before the bad… Atmosphere was nice. Food was absolutely dry even while covered in a store bought enchiladas sauce. Why was the chicken in chunks and not in strips like traditional enchiladas? The waitress’s were rude and would not get off the phone from a personal call. It took me about 5 minutes to pay for my meal at the register waiting for her to hang up the phone and acknowledge me. The water they give you to start off with is warmer than room temperature too. With peace and love I will not be going back.

Food tasted so blend. Sauce like out of a can. They were out of few items on the menu. But the music was good. Fist time costumer won't be back.

Super cute, very small. I've been looking for a new taco spot since L' Patrons fell off. Tacos are very tasty. Chips are thick and fresh.

Fantastic burritos, cozy environment!

I learned of this place from social media. They were rated number one, having the best carne asada burrito in Chicago, by a couple of girls who did the legwork. I had the carne asada burrito dinner, and it was DELICIOUS! It was tender and just right. They also have homemade salsa that I’ve never had before. It was made with garlic and the usual ingredients but ground up, unlike how Pico de gallo is presented. The green chili salsa was flavorful and not too hot, and I love the heat. They were both great! Various dishes were ordered, and everyone at the table enjoyed their food and left happy. You should know they are cash only; however, they will take Venmo and Zelle for your convenience. Check them out; they will not disappoint.

Don’t get the burrito it’s bland. It’s all about the pambazo’s here and the horchata is super good!

Went for a birthday dinner! Best burrito I ever had.

On the menu the steak burrito says $8.55 and the lady at the counter charged me $14.65. Why? And it wasn't the dinner plate, it was only the burrito. Didn't notice until i saw the menu. I was shock that she charged me so much.

Ordered the asada pambazo. Bread was good but the meat was under seasoned and it definitely needed more meat for $14. Staff was friendly tho but idk if I'll go back due to the small meat portions

Delicious, soon after arriving this place started getting very busy. Which is a good sign. The food is really good. Very important they do not have a system to accept credit card, there options are cash. Venmo or Zelle to the name of the restaurant.

The food was excellent. The Pambazos were delicious. The staff members were very friendly and as attentive as they could be. The restaurant was very busy and seemed short staffed, so there were some delays, but the young man working the front counter and tables did his best and apologized multiple times.

This olace has the BEST pambazos My favorite is the chicken one. Their Cuban torta is delicious! Service is always amazing!

Came here for the Chilaquiles after seeing it mentioned in an Eatery article. They did not disappoint! Ordered full dinner with rice and beans and got eggs with chorizo. Service was great and the owner is a wonderful lady. Going back to try Pozole next. Update: 1/22/2022 Tried the Pozole today. It was so good! Highly recommended. FYI, cash only or Zelle.

Pambazos are Perfection. Can't recommend El Habañero enough, we went here just to try the pambazos and they were delicious beyond our expectations. We had the chorizo con papa & asada. The steak was marinated and grilled *perfectly*, but the papa con chorizo was so unique and amazing you really can't go wrong with either. The service was amazing! It's clear the owners truly care about your experience. Also the table salsas are better than ANY restaurant salsa we've had. The yellow was perfectly smoky & spicy while the green was a sweet & spicy tomatillo sauce. I can also say the Jamaica drink here is very refreshing and good.

Honestly one of the best family owned Mexican places in Chicago. The pastor with pineapple burrito was killer and the chamoy (chile and tamarind) peach gummies were an unexpected favorite. The special house hot sauce is fantastic. Lorena (the matriarch) was wonderful and knew exactly what I needed. People argue that Chicago’s most iconic food is its hot dog or pizza, but I would put this sort of Mexican cuisine right ahead of them. Delicious and affordable.

I just happened to be in the area, and I'm so glad I stopped by. I just had the best Chile Rellenos I've ever had in my life. On top of that, the service was excellent and the authentic energy was great! I have a new favorite gem. I'll certainly be back!! Gracias!

I went with some friends to eat lunch. Everyone's recommendation was to eat the pambazo. The pambazo did not fail!

The food was really really good, I got the asada burrito and it was loaded with every ingredient you could want. The cheese on the burrito was like no other cheese, it was gooey, melty, and it tasted great. The service was wonderful, they were very nice, and understanding. Overall I highly recommend going here as it was a great place!

Food was amazing, had two different Pambazos, steak and potato/ chorizo, both were delicious the steak specifically was perfect cooked. Also had mole enchiladas and felt like it was the most authentic mole I’ve had in the states. Bonus that the chef came out and asked how our meal was and the staff was also helpful and friendly.

there needs to be an actual website with an updated menu and accurate pricing. i placed a to-go order for a burrito dinner with chips/salsa, it was $26.... either they overcharged me or it's ridiculously overpriced for what you get

I have eaten at Habanero many times and it is consistently excellent. The food is delicious and fresh and the staff are so friendly. Lorena, the owner is an amazing woman. She is always so friendly and makes you feel so comfortable. A true gem of a place.

Great tacos, this place is fire! They were in the process of training the server that was serving us. Hopefully, that server gets better at her job. The man running this place is on top of everything, even when that server was lacking. I recommend this restaurant.

First time here we had the Pambazos of was great. Can't wait to go back and try a lot more of their food. I believe it's family run and it shows everyone is great.

Originally was going to another restaurant, when we spotted this one. Popped in and we are ecstatic to have found this gem. The chilaquiles were the best I’ve had in a long time. Tried their horchata ice coffee and it was absolutely delicious. Everything we tried tasted incredible & fresh! A must try!

Super gentrified Mexican restaurant with decent pambazos. I had the chicken pambazo and it nice and toasty. The chicken reminded me napa sandwich at Panera. They do not take credit. Cash only but they do accept zelle and Venmo.

This is one of the places where they have delicious foods at affordable prices, and places like El Habanero are worth trying. One of the things that you should try here is their special sandwich called Asada Pambazo. This sandwich is so flavorful, and you have the option to choose the meat. It was cool, and I was amazed, so I ordered it. The people here are really accommodating. I had great customer service, and I appreciate how consistent they are in giving quality service, not only to me but to all the customers. This place looks so simple on the inside, but you can feel that they put their hearts into making each dish, and the ambiance of this place is warm and cozy.

Pretty good local Mexican place. Burrito wasn't mind blowing but good. Rice was very good and ambiance was very enjoyable. The waitress were very nice as well.

Placed an order over the phone and felt like I was getting rushed. Picked up my order and once I got home they got my order completely wrong. First and last time at this place. Im sure you can find nearby restaurants with better quality and customer service than this one.

Came here for the first time on a Saturday evening for dinner. Ordered tampequenia and a Carne asada burrito, also chips and salsa, with flan for dessert. Tampequinia came with quesadillas instead of a traditional enchilada, but that's fine. Steak was very thin and not to flavorful. Rice and Beans were good. My husband's steak burrito was average. Our biggest gripe is that this was a Mexican restaurant using mozzarella cheese instead of chihuahua cheese like you should be on Mexican dishes. Made a difference. Guacamole that was served with the Carne asada dinner was pretty good. Let's talk about thr weird thick "red salsa" that seems to be their signature thing. As a Mexican myself, I had never seen such a thing. Tasted and felt like dipping a chip into a can of garlic flavored tomato paste. Kind of weird. Chips were also not good at all and kind of stale. Flan was a nice portion size and good tasting. Could have used a little bit more of the burnt sugar on top, but over all a solid B in grading. Servers were very nice and food was quick to come out. Over all ok, but I don't think I'll be back. Cash, zelle or quick pay ONLY!

We ordered chicken nachos, chorizo and eggs, a lengua taco, pastor taco, and 2 steak tacos. The beans are incredible. The chips are amazing and the salsa is so tasty. Definitely recommend. It is “cash only” but venmo is an option.

Everything is so delicious! We had soup and pambazo today. Soup was delicate and delicious with fresh veg. Pambazo was flavorful and generous. The family that owns El Habanero are so friendly and the food was fresh and homemade. Love IS an ingredient in this restaurant, and it's heaped all over the place! Good vibes, great food, and my new favorite. The red sauce was an amazing garlic tomato blend that is no ordinary salsa, so don't expect this homemade condiment to be what you think it is. 10/10!!

Tried the lengua tacos. Super tender and flavorful. This was my second time eating cow tongue tacos. They were delicious. Stopped by this place by chance and no regrets. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to us. There were two kinds of salsas. The Green salsa was delicious and the red mild salsa was some kind of garlic salty achiote paste. Loved mixing both and eating them together on tacos and the chips. The flan was nice and firm and Not too sweet except the caramel on top. Took the tres Leche to go and realized it was more on the savory side than the sweet. Took a second to get used to because I was expecting a sugary mouthful but it was a balanced sweet and salty. If you don’t like desserts super sweet I would recommend trying their desserts they were just right for me.

I ordered a burrito by phone for pickup and soon I showed up and my food was ready. There is paid parking on front and more on the side street. The restaurant is on the corner so it's easy to find. The burrito was good, the room for improvement is the red sauce since it was dry. I turned the side upside down and the entire thing came out dry. Good service and food, will try again so I hope the salsa is better.

Pambazo is 10 of 10 hands down. The horchata seems like it was made right before it was served, 10 of 10 for sure. This place is a bit out of our way to visit but I would definitely make the effort to come back.
