It was a nice welcoming atmosphere and as soon as I sat down, the waitress came over with a jug of water and two filled glasses to open with which I appreciated. She remained attentive with that throughout our time there. The food was good and hit the spot.

Horrible food , fish soup served ice cold , had no fish and a few miniature pieces of vegetables….nevet again !!! Don’t waist your time

This place has been around for every as have I. Had not visited in for a couple of years and this visit will be my last. This place can sit about 100 people naybe more, remember it always been full around lunch time, so i was very surprised to see no more than 10 or so and wondered what was going on. Got the answer when i tried the food, in one word "Terrible". We where three people and none of it was worth a single star. Then i found out the old owner sold it and the management is different. Way to kill a place that has been around for 30 years.

My husband and I are visiting from Atlanta. We walked over to El Tropico, from our hotel, and were immediately drawn in by the line of people standing at the take-out window. We dined in. We ordered Pallamillo Steak with Rice + Black Beans + Toasted Bread and the Cuban Medionoche Sandwich. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted fantastic...full of flavor. The prices were very reasonable and the service was courteous and punctual/attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The food is always good, the service is solid The atmosphere and ambiance need some work, but don't let that stop you from going here. It's better at lunch on weekdsys.

Paid 50 for worst stake and mash potatoes I ever had in my life.

Way over priced for a hole in the wall cafeteria in a shopping center. Staff was plesant but $15 for an egg sandwich, $2.50 for coffee and another $.50 because it was to go (container). Then 8% tax on top to finish (see photo). A McDonalds egg mcmuffin meal would have been half this price and they dont ask for a tip when you pay.

Friendly bilingual staff and great authentic food

Very clean, great attention from staff, excellent food and portions, but way overpriced. $2.30 for a cup of coffee with milk is outrageous, same for buttered toast, another $2,30. Not going back for b'fast.

The Peruvian and Venezuelan restaurants are taking over South Florida. Cuban restaurants have a big gap to catch.

Found this great restaurant because of it's location behind the Hampton Inn. What a treat to discover it. We were a group of 6 and everyone was delighted with our meals and the service. It was good enough to make us put the Hampton in our list of places to return to at MIA.

We may have found our new favorite! We were made to feel so welcome, & the food was AMAZING! My husband had the Palomilla steak with moros & yucca, & I had the grilled chicken & onions with moros & sweet plantains. Both were nothing short of AMAZING! Thank you for a great meal, we WILL be back when we are in town!

The cook behaves very badly with his employees, he talks to them in a bad way, if he doesn't want to work, he shouldn't work and that's it, it seems like the workers can't handle him anymore, everything is going wrong because of his sandwich chef, a fat man with an attitude. very stupid

Poor overall experience. I knew I was in trouble when I saw the restaurant was empty on a Friday night. I was in a hurry, so I stayed. Bad mistake. Bland food, a cardinal sin for Cuban food. No wonder it was empty.

Food was good but the steak with rice and beans that had anywhere alse I would pay about $25, here I paid $47, so I think is too expensive.

Ordered a churrasco, got a bistec de palomilla $35 ! Waitress who is nicaraguan where churrasco is famous said" trust me I know churrasco, this is not a palomilla" Never go back again! Highway robbery at its finest

Its not the first time I eat here, the Food and service were equal as other times here not bad not great ! Im wondering and leaving a bad review is because they are charging 8% for sales tax! That should be illegal. They are collecting more money without people even noticing on their bill hidden as tax. Not sure how they can get away with this ! Sneaky business practices! I wonder now what else can they be doing to save money on the back of the house….

Awesome service, awesome food, and one hell of a family feeling. I would highly recommend El tropico restaurant. Kudos to all who work there.

My wife and I flew in from California, I really wanted some Cuban food, and this just happened to be near the hotel. The server was super friendly, the food was great. I would definitely come back.

They sell frozen Chatinos/Tostones. The morro is a bit sticky.

This restaurant was across from our hotel, it's in a shopping center. The place is big we were surprised there weren't lots of people there but that's a good thing too !! The food was very good and plenty of it. With one glass of wine and one appetizer along with two main dishes plus tip $50.00 Not too bad at all. Waitress was very friendly and came around to check on us a couple of times. So if your hungry and close by try this restaurant you won't be disappointed!!

Llegas hoy sábado a las 7:30am a desayunar y no hay nada. CERO. Cuando abran el negocio a las 6am. Deberían abrir a las 8am o a la hora que tengan comida que ofrecer. Desastre total.

This restaurant is huge and has so much potential. When I walked in I questioned why there were so many tables and only 2 parties inside; I quickly found out: the service was bad. I only had a chance to order a drink and I can honestly say it was good but the servers attitude left a bad taste and made me lose my appetite. Remember Good attitude is always good for the business.

Too pricey for they served... I've been in better Cuban food places with a so much reasonable price... I don't think the food was great.. too salty and reheated

This is my first Cuban Sandwich.. We ordered the Cuban, 2 Tropicana, and a steak sandwich. Good but not great.. When I think of a Cuban Sandwich I think of the movie Chef with Jon Favour. The fries where undercooked, and cold like cafeteria lunch room warm. If you're local this is and option for sure. You will get a good sandwich.. But don't travel for this food nothing special here. Beer was ice cold came with lime. So that's a big plus. Very clean bathrooms that says alot this is a clean place. But nothing that we ordered made me want to savor the moment. Or look forward to going back. Good but not great.

It was a very nice Cuban restaurant it was very spacious I've never had Cuban food before and I never been in Florida before so my first time for everything oh, the waitress was very pleasant and nice she did speak English very well... Oh Yes!!!😁 The food was very delicious I had an omelette and I had some plantains it was nice & cool in there on this very🔥🌡 hot Saturday and very nice atmosphere I would definitely come back for lunch when I visit Miami again

El Trópico on 79th Avenue & NW 36 street is a local favorite of ours and has been for years! The food is delicious and the service is great. Warm and friendly service and clean place too. Social distancing is observed and everything we order feels like a home cooked meal with the dining out touch. Whether you’re looking for a place for breakfast, lunch or dinner, el trópico will not disappoint!

Que rico! First Cubano sandwich, so there is nothing to compare with, but it was good and at a good cost. Even though it's a chain, it didnt feel like it.

Excelente food. Service is ok... Attitude tense for some reason... Always, not just this visit. And one VERY annoying thing is how they hustle you out for a tip... Just not comfortable to eat and be hustled for a tip. Give good service and the tip will be there!
