The quality of the Sichuan food here at this price point ($10 to $15 per dish and $2 to $3 for an iced tea) is incredible. Someone I was with said that the boiled beef here was the best version of it that they've ever had.

Delicious food, wonderful service, big portions, no delay. Ants on the Tree was so delicious, super spicy, but in that good way, like you don't want to stop eating it even though it hurts. Dry fried String Beans delicious, would eat them every day if I could. I can't wait to try even more dishes! Will definitely be back.

Got takeout for lunch from here. Unfortunately their website doesnt have a way of ordering and making a payment online so placed order over phone and had to pay in person. The order included lunch special cumin lamb, lunch special fish in chili oil, and deep cooked pork intestine. The portion size and quality of ingredients was good. The takeout lunch specials didnt come with soup/tea so Im guessing those are only available for in-person dining. * deep cooked pork intestine ($12.95 pre-tax) - This was different than what we've eaten typically from other sichuanese restaurants and the pork intestine pieces weren't deep fried and then mixed with veggies. But overall the dish was decent and came with onions/bell peppers/celery in a black bean sauce. 4/5 * lunch special cumin lamb ($7.95 pre-tax) - Cumin lamb dish was great; lots of cumin and numbing oil flavor with onions/jalapenos/bell pepper. The lamb was tender. 5/5 however the accompanying rice was dry. * lunch special fish in chili oil ($7.95 pre-tax)- This was very weird tasting because both the fish fillets and the broth were quite sweet. I have never tasted this flavor profile of ginger+chill oil+sugar before so it wasnt something which I really enjoyed. The accompanying rice was dry/bad. 2/5 I will be back to try more of their dishes.

I came here for lunch and got the fish in chili oil dish which came with ice water, hot tea, soup, rice and a small scoop of ice cream. The rice was dry for my taste. The fish was moist and flavorful. I got the mango sorbet for dessert and the sorbet flavor came from actual mangoes which was surprising. This place has great food for a very affordable lunch special. I will definitely come here again and I recommend people to come here and try the food out.

Came in with my buds ravenously hungry and this was a new spot we wanted to check out. The cheap prices attracted me in, but the service and food definitely captured my heart. This place is definitely a hidden gem that I'll return to for sure. It was a little late when I came in but the owner was very warm and welcoming. She intercted with me and my friends in a great manner, and the food was quick! She even hooked us up with free soup as an appetizer. We got the family meal combo and they were flexible enough for us to swap out the veggies for more protein, duck specifically (which was amazing). I throughly enjoyed everything they brought out but the duck and the hot braised chicken wings were my favorite. I'd recommend coming here for a good cheap quick eat!

This was once the very best Chinese restaurant in Seattle. Sadly, after 24 years in business the current owners have retired and sold the restaurant. As of the rewriting of this review, 8-7-18, they tell me that they will only be open another 2 weeks, or less. The sisters will be sadly missed. Thanks for all the years of wonderful food.

As first time visitors to Seattle, we depended on Trip Advisor for recommendations. This restaurant had 5 stars and was the highest rated Chinese restaurant on the list. It was not anywhere near good - if this was the best, what are the others like? The waitress was wonderful, but the food was mediocre. Too much cornstarch and too "old-style Chinese-American." Fortunately, we are visiting Vancouver next.

if you venture into "China Town" in this city, there are many restaurants from which to choose for a fine meal. On the recommendation of the Wing Luke Cultural Museum employees, we stopped in to the very unassuming neighbor for a very quick lunch. It was authentic if not elegant, tasty and reasonably priced. Don't expect crisp red tablecloths here--it's definitely geared more to locals, but you won't go hungry or be overcharged!

I read good things about Fortuna Cafe and now experienced them myself! Right next to the Wing Luke Museum is this gem of a restaurant. I had already eaten lunch but wanted to try the soy chicken with scallion sauce. May, the owner and sis Maggie were so friendly and proud of their delicious, uber moist chicken. They should be. We found this "hole in the wall" while waiting to see the Wing Luke museum next door. We didn't want to line up for dimsum (the lines were long) and, almost in desperation, we entered this cafe. The menu was extensive, and the prices unbelievably cheap. The owners were very gracious and advised us to order pea vines, instead of bokchoy, which were in season. My husband and I ordered fish and shrimp with the pea tendrils, respectively, while the kids had noodles and chicken. The servings were huge! At $7 for a plate with rice, protein (fish, shrimp, chicken), and veggies, this was a real bargain that hit the spot. The setting is very simple, but the food was great.

It's not exaggerating but the Chinese food here (or more precisely they're Hong Kong food) tastes no difference at all from what I have back home. The restaurant is next to the Wing Luke Asian Museum, we went at 3pm when it was almost empty, the food is cheap but came in big portion, the lunch special is only 5usd with no tax, and it felt so warm when we could order in Cantonese. Since we've been on a trip for four weeks in the States already, we had no REAL Chinese food for a long while, here their food is inarguably real HK food and it is also that cheap! I even want to cry right after my first bite of my tofu pork rice! It just tasted like home! It's definitely way above the average of Chinese food you could find in the US.

A real hole in the wall. It's kind of dirty. They have really good BBQ pork and soy sauce chicken. They are friendly enough, but real sticklers for the $10 minimum to use the credit cards. For those of you who don't know that is against Visa terms of service. You are supposed to be able to use the card regardless of the amount. I can see why the business does it; since they get charged a per swipe fee along with a percentage of the sale. But that's just the cause of doing business. I mean who really carries cash anymore? I rarely do. They need to have the sign posted up somewhere so that it is easier to see rather than wait until the end when you are about to pay to let you know that they wont take your card unless you hit the minimum. Their prices are in line with the likes of Kau Kau BBQ which is across the street. I just find that this place's meat is a tad leaner which is better than having the pieces be have fat.

She and her husband gave us good directions to get to the best of two 99 ranch markets, for the best selection of Chinese meats and vegetables [the one in RENTON/KENT area]. I enjoyed the garlic shrimp with pea vines and my wife had the seafood with tofu. Both were excellently prepared in the Cantonese style. While the place is small it makes up for it with great service and food.

A friend took us to this "hole in the wall" Cantonese restaurant next to the wonderful Asian Museum and although it's not fancy nor pretty, the food was delightful, fresh, and inexpensive. My wife is vegetarian and she said the veggies were excellent, tasty and flavorful and extremely fresh. The tomato beef chow mein (crispy noodles), Singapore noodles and cha siu chow fun (wide flat noodles with bok choy) were cooked to perfection and the wor won ton soup was plentiful and delicious. The owners (husband cooks, wife and sister wait tables) are friendly and engaging and offered suggestions that were not on the menu. I took home a 1/2 roasted duck ($9) and two days later it was still moist, tasty and especially flavorful. We went back with four other people and they all raved about the food choices and especially the low prices for quality portions of food. I will always return to Fortuna if I am ever in Seattle again.

My parents owned Chinese restaurants until they retired so I not only love to eat in Chinese restaurants, I have lived in them. I remember spending my afternoons doing my homework at a back table and only allowed to get up to bus and set tables as customers left - I was required to make Straight A's but had to work in the family restaurant at the same time. Even my weekends - after Chinese language school I worked at the restaurant until closing. This "hole-in-the-wall" family owned restaurant reminds me of my childhood. The owner's sons do their homework at the table next to the cash register and the owner's sister helps out on evenings and weekends. The building is a little grungy and dates back to the turn of the century. It is right next to the Wing Luke Museum which has a very interesting tour showing the way the Asian Immigrants lived in the early 1900's Seattle which includes this restaurant space. As in all restaurants, they are well known for only some of their dishes. Their food is very old style Cantonese food cooked in a very simple traditional fashion. They are very well known for their Steamed Chicken with Ginger/Scallion sauce, Chicken and Salted Fish Fried Rice, Braised Chicken on the bone, and Pea Vines with Garlic. Their Ginger/Scallion sauce is so well known in the International District they sell it by the jar. And I have gotten dozens of my friends addicted to their Chicken and Salted Fish Fried Rice because it is so good. And one of the few places that you can get really good "Birthday or Crispy Fried Chicken" - just ask an older American-born Chinese what that is. Their Chinese BBQ food is also very good and you can buy a "lunchbox" which costs around $6 with 2 BBQ meats with rice. I go to Fortuna Cafe for nostalgic authentic Cantonese comfort food.
