Me and a friend came here over the weekend around brunch time. They were a bit busy but the service was good and friendly. The pastries also looked very delicious. Unfortunately, the food and drink fell short of expectations - based on the reviews perhaps it was an exception. The flavored lattes me and my friend ordered had a hint of flavor (I had to add sugar to mine), and we had the opposite problem with our eggs benedict where the hollondaise sauce had an overwhelming, lemony flavor that stayed with us for the rest of the day. The salmon benedict was a filet of salmon rather than the typical smoked salmon which, while on its own could be delicious, did not pair well with the strong flavor that was already coming from the hollondaise. The home fries were tasty and seasoned well. Based on the reviews, I hope to try again but I would not recommend the benedict based on my and my friend's experience. I would suggest asking customers how sweet they would like their latte to cater to those who have a sweet tooth for their coffee and those who may prefer subtle flavors.

I’ve never had such authentic homemade food at a restaurant before. 90% of the food is homemade, the sourdough is incredible! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the place is clean and inviting, the food is DELICIOUS, and the coffee is perfect. You will not be disappointed stopping here.

We were greeted with a very friendly smile and eager to take our order and provide delicious food! They did not disappoint! My omelet was delicious! They served us complimentary bread pudding which was so good! This is a gem! You will be happy you came!

I popped into Gardenia Café for a vanilla latte. The people who I interacted with were SO friendly! All smiles at this place 😊 They have cute tea cups you can use if you eat there. I got the zucchini muffin as well - it is lightly sweet & very moist and delicious! I'll definitely be back. It was busy at 11 on a Saturday but service was very quick.

Went for the first time this morning and was so pleasantly surprised. First of all, the customer service was amazing; everyone was so warm and welcoming and attentive throughout our time in. I could tell this place really cares about how they treat their customers and keeping the good energy high. Second off, the food was incredible! Everything is homemade and organic, and you can definitely taste that in the food. Even the sweet items don’t leave that cheap sugary taste in your mouth after eating. Everything was made with love and care, and served in great presentation. We also received a bread pudding on the house as it was our first time; I was blown away at how good it was and how nice it was of them to offer! Amazinggg bread and fresh, ripe produce used throughout. Third off, the atmosphere is so cute and cozy. It’s really easy to just look at the menu and pay up front. There can sometimes be a wait, and if you do end up waiting, I noticed that they are just as attentive to you as the people sat down. Excellent service! Overall, such a hospitable, locally-owned restaurant with amazing cuisine. I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone. Really good experience as a customer as well as a foodie.

I am from Texas and have limited cooking resources as I am traveling for work. I was CRAVING a home made meal specifically my moms! I found this restaurant and read the reviews and saw everyone commenting on the QUALITY of the food. I ordered to go the potato wedges and chicken lemon piccata.. OH MY GOSH. The chicken was phenomenal. Everything was so delicious. I will probably coming back here multiple times a week and just ordering meals to put in the fridge while I’m here. You can tell they cook with love and they are so friendly. :)

The sourdough here is horrible. Very little flavor like grocery store sourdough. Very very hard to find good sourdough in the US.

Can food and the atmosphere be described as magical? Yes! yea it can! Hear me out, rarely does a restaurant feel like your grandma’s cooking (the good one that can cook, and not the other one, you know exactly what I mean). This is that! Everything, literally everything, is home made from scratch. It’s actually a bit crazy this family run dedication to the art of food. They put their soul into it. As they say, everything is amazing, no joke. The burgers, the eggs, the salad, the deserts, the coffee(s) … my wife, friends, coworkers, and I have tried em all … all simply AMAZING! In fact, my wife and I are now annoyed when we go to other places. This is the gold standard, and it’s a ridiculously high bar. And the only frustrating thing is the limited seating. We even asked they if they plan to expand, but they don’t want to compromise the quality of the raw material and the final product in the process of expansion purely for profit 🫶

Worth every penny! This place really cares about nourishing your body at a great price! This mom and pop shop is a blessing

What a delightful cafe! I decided to stop by on my quest for coffee. Wow, did I find a gem! From service to food to coffee! A definite must!

Such a phenomenal breakfast spot. The owner was so warm and inviting and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the Roast Beef Benedict which was really tasty. The vegan omelette was great. We also shared a key lime pie which was sooo good. So happy to have found this place.

Gardenias has the BEST brunch I’ve ever had. Corned beef hash and homemade bread was amazing!! We were treated very well and the place was colorful, well decorated and very clean. We will be back again, thank you for this wonderful cafe ❤️❤️❤️

I cannot recommend this place enough! This was me and my husband's first time here. I wanted to try it out since I saw that it had vegan breakfast options. All of the staff was incredibly kind and sweet. They all seemed genuinely happy to be there and made the environment so cheerful. They gave great recommendations and seemed well versed in vegan dietary limitations. Then the food came. It was incredible. You can really tell what a difference it is that everything is made in house. I ordered the vegan omelette and my husband ordered other eggs Benedict. They were phenomenal 20/10! We had to force ourselves to stop eating once we were full! TLDR: This place is incredible! Highly recommend! Friendly staff and delicious food!

This place has some of the friendliest staff! It was our first time visiting after I saw that they had vegan breakfast options. And boy did they not disappoint! They were all so kind and sweet and had very nice recommendations! They were also very well versed in vegan dietary limitations. I ordered the vegan omelette and my husband ( not vegan) had the eggs beendict. And let me say the food was beyond phenomenal! We had to force ourselves to stop eating once we were full! I give it a 20/10!

Absolutely fantastic from top to bottom. The service was super friendly and the menu offers an excellent variety of meals. As someone who is lactose intolerant, the fact that they have dairy-free chicken and waffles is a game changer. Plus, they gave us a complimentary chocolate muffin because it was our first visit! Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a nice brunch/lunch spot in MoCo.

The food is great, and so is the environment. We have gone around 20 times and have never been disappointed. The workers are extremely nice and friendly. All the food is amazing and super tasty.

Gardenia's Cafe is a hidden gem place that I accidentally found yesterday for brunch! It's a family owned restaurant, running by a family of four. My wife and I had wonderful experiences there with fantastic foods that were made with all natural ingredients, no artificial flavors nor preservatives. We tried Huevos Rancheros and Corned Beef Hash. Both were really good, not salty nor sugary. Also, I tried their freshly squeezed orange juice. It's a bit expensive but worth trying. Their Americano coffee was good too, it beans were from Mayorga. Lastly, the lady very kindly offered us a freshly baked bread pudding... it was very delicious!

Truly one of the best hidden gems! The food was unbelievable! Only to be matched by great customer service!

This place was cute, with a lot of neat and yummy desserts. The iced coffee was okay, but the hot coffee was better. It was very clean, and the bathroom had scented lotions which was cool.

Wonderful spot! All of the food is delicious and healthy. The owners care about the quality of the food and beverages they serve. You can't get quality food like this just anywhere. My new favorite mom and pop restaurant. Will start coming here often.

Great food and friendly service! Very cute. Loved the yucca fries, avocado toast, and hazelnut latte. The portions are large and the staff seemed bummed if you didn't finish or take your food to go because they put a lot of work into it. Parking was easy and seemed very receptive to dietary restrictions. Went on Mother's Day and it got busy around 10:30/11, so would recommend making reservations for Mother's Day morning.

We went for breakfast for the first time on Sunday and were greeted by the most lovely service by every member of staff. The owner even came to our table to ask if we had been there before and told us about their philosophy of “less sugar, more flavor”. The food is just as incredible as the service and the coffee is strong and delicious.

So I want to give a very honest review of this establishment as somebody who could not eat about 95% or more of their food. When I arrived, I found out that they use avocado oil in most of their cooking and baking. When I brought this up to the kitchen, they didn't feel comfortable trying to swap for another oil just due to the possibility of cross-contamination. I really respected that! I had driven quite a ways to meet up with a friend, so I opted to stay and get tea and a smoothie. The staff was so friendly! While other guests came in and out for meals, everyone seemed to love their food and I continued to watch staff interactions be friendly and conversational. It was a very welcoming atmosphere and the food looked so good! I wish I didn't have the avocado allergy because I'm pretty sure I would have eaten everything on their menu that I could have otherwise. There are vegan options which was why I went in the first place. Very cute place.

Don't make the mistake of overlooking this lovely family owned cafe. The owners were warm and welcoming the second I walked in the door and the food was somehow Even better. Even waiting for my order to come to the table I was overwhelmed with so many delicious smells and each plate came out looking fresh and delicious. I also couldn't help but notice how warm the atmosphere here is and the smiles on everyone's faces when they took a bite of their meal! I ordered a vegan omelette not knowing what to expect and I was completely blown away with how good it was. The chef caught my glow when I took My first bite and personally walked over to ask if I liked it and what I ordered. I am already planning my return :)

The atmosphere on a weekend is bright and there are people inside. I went there due to a Moco passport and the owner changed the conditions on it. I guess that's why the place won some kind of award for independent small business. The baked goods in the display are homely. Its probably doing decent in the location. It was not my cup of tea.

Small shop, SUPER friendly, welcoming family owners (mom, dad, sister, brother—the Gardenia Family). Food ingredients are fresh and healthy. Delicious dinner. Our party had the Steak Quesadillas, the Enchilada Burger, the Mama’s Pasteles, and the Chicken Picata. We also enjoyed the bread pudding. Service is first class and we all felt like family with the Gardenias. Definitely a 5-star experience in this family owned and run cafe.

My wife has been raving about this place since it opened. I traveled all the way down an hour to try the food and was NOT disappointed. The portions are enough for two meals. This place is worth your time. Give it a go you won't be sorry.

Everyone here was so nice and welcoming. Tried the breakfast burrito, chicken & waffles, fresh strawberry mint smoothie, and tres leche cake - everything was delicious and you can tell it was made with fresh and healthy ingredients. Definitely will be coming here again!

I was looking for a healthy restaurant in Gaithersburg and I sincerely came across a gem. I enjoyed the restaurant so much I ate there 3 days in a row. The staff was incredible, they were extremely friendly regardless if the restaurant was packed or not. You genuinely feel like family while there. Now lets talk about the food. They are making things from scratch and using premium ingredients such as avocado oil. Chunky monkey pancakes: they pancakes were amazing. The came out super hot. How could you go wrong with a combination of banana, chocolate and maple syrup. The waffle was perfectly crunchy Gluten free pancakes: the owner persuaded me to order this and im extremely glad she did. The pancakes were super light nearly to the point of melt in your mouth. You get eggs and protein with the dish. I choose turkey sausage and eggs which were both seasoned perfectly. Green smoothie: I was told that these are new additions to their menu. While slightly pricey at $10, the smoothie was outstanding. It contained avocado, chia seeds, almond milk asking other ingredients. The smoothie was very creamy. They were able to accommodate my request of holding the sugar which pleased me. Mama's pasteles (empanadas) - dare I say these were some of the best empanadas I've ever eaten. Unlike most empanadas these were light and not oily. They had a great texture and the meat and potatoes filling was amazing. They give you a side sauce that adds to the flavors. Salvadoreño tipico - typical El Salvadorean breakfast. This food felt very comforting. Plantain, eggs, toast, beans. It's simple yet delicious. The homemade crema is to die for. I enjoyed it so much I ordered a side of plantains and crema. Pesto pasta: like everything else, they make their own pesto. the dish had juicy chicken and the portion is big enough for 2 meals. My only complaint was the pesto wasxa little runny but other than that it was great. This place is truly incredible I wish them the best. They take so much pride in what they do! Keep being awesome.

Was looking into trying a new place to get breakfast and came across this Cafe. Almost immediately, I was greeted and it felt very welcoming and caring. Food exceeded my expectations and it was amazing. Everything on the menu sounds great and will definitely be back for more. My overall experience was more than what I could've expected.

This was my first time here, and all I can say is WOW! I’m mostly into breakfast cafes around Maryland, and it’s hard to find a decent place that serves breakfast and lunch all day. But this place is more than amazing. The place looks beautiful! The staff greet you walking in, and they tend to you with care. The staff are great! The food is somthing out of a dream. The presentation of the food, matches the beautiful interior of the cafe. The coffee is home made and it is delicious, Ditch your Starbucks people, they got it here! (I had the choco Carmel latte) ! The most shocking thing about this place is the price! Well priced and I’m surprised on what you get for the price. Taste, portion, everything in here is worth every penny. I got the corn beef hash, I highly recommend it. Home made sour dough bread is top notch! Frankly, I wanna try everything on the menu! Now I can say I been to the real hidden gem in Gaithersburg! 10/10 would recommend this place!

My favorite restaurant in Montgomery County. Everything we have had has been amazing. The restaurant is cheerful and everyone is friendly. When my daughter came home on her school holiday break from France, Gardenia's was at the top of her list of places she wanted to eat.

My family and I just went there for the first time and had an absolutely amazing experience! I’m not sure what I was expecting when I first walked in, but I didn’t know I would be getting the best service of my life and one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had. Everybody who works there is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The food is all homemade and you can tell how much care the staff puts into pleasing their customers. The food was delicious and we couldn’t stop ordering different items to try them. Don’t pass by this cafe! After just one visit it has permanently cemented itself as one of my favorite restaurants. We can’t wait to go back!

This is by far my favorite place to eat out. The staff are complete angels and always full of warmth and joy. I have a brain injury so a lot of food I cannot eat that is in other restaurants but here I know the food is made with love and whole ingredients. It’s hard always cooking at home but having gardenia is a safe place for me. You simple must go to tell the difference between their whole ingredients and food made with substance. I am so grateful to this small business and wish more people supported businesses like this.

An early holiday gift. First visit of many to come. We found a wonderful new to us local restaurant. We were treated with plasent conversation when we walked in the door. I found my place 😋👌🏼 This place definitely has my heart and stomach 🫣100% organic food and natural fermentation, super clean and cozy environment, not to mention the charisma of the owner and the people who work there.At each bite you can taste all the love put into preparing each ingredient. I have no doubt that this is my favorite brunch spot. You should definitely check out. Ribeye Benedict ,cheesecake pancake ,mango juice and some pastries .

What a great surprise. My wife and I were in the area for something else and found this little cafe on Yelp and went there with high expectations given all the good reviews. There, I found my go to place for brunch. Food was amazing; their cream brûlée was sent from heaven. Loved everything I ordered and then some more to bring home. Super friendly and helpful staff with all home made ingredients, they make really good sandwiches and pastries. Highly recommend and even though it’s a bit far from my house I will definitely go back and take my friends there too. Great job Gardenia’s cafe!!!

The service was amazing and it was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!

Only go here if you want to be asked incessantly by the owner if the food is good. My family and I could not relax and enjoy our visit because the female owner stopped by our table every two seconds to ask us if we liked the food and “it’s good, right?” I felt like I was a guest at a very insecure host’s house. After we left I vowed never to return. Instead of being able to enjoy a meal with my family I had to spend the entire meal reassuring the owner - it was emotionally exhausting.

Delicious and beautiful wedding day desserts! Instead of a traditional wedding cake, my husband and I decided we wanted to support a local business and Gardenia’s was perfect! We worked with the Gardenia’s team to taste and select a variety of personal and seasonal favorites. On our wedding day, we featured a dessert bar, and our guests devoured cheesecakes, creme brûlées, chocolate lava cakes, and cupcakes. The quality of their ingredients and the care they put into baking was outstanding and we highly recommend working with Gardenia’s if you want to add something special to any event you have!

A small cafe but with an expanded menu - good fir ant time of the day. Their omelette and desserts are delicious. Ask for a coffee and you will be surprised with its quality and flavor. Waitress are pleasant and help you to walk through the menu and give their suggestions you won’t regret. As a first time customer, the cafe served a delicious muffin on-house. Love the place.

Gardenia’s Cafe delivers a beautiful experience and atmosphere full of laughter and warmth. As a Latino, I never expected to find a restaurant that delivers Latin food in a hearty and organic way. Gardenia’s does just this, and it’s just beautiful. The moment you walk in you are quickly greeted. The staff makes you feel at home and will let you know how everything is cooked and they remind you of the organic ingredients and cooking methods. As you taste the different dishes, you can taste individual ingredients and nothing feels processed. And their best part? The desserts!!! I had the best flan and banana bread pudding here. Not sweet, and you can taste the natural flavors and not just sugar. Gardenia’s has become a place of comfort for me and my family, and will be a staple “must show” restaurant to all future family visitors. I’m thankful for their new concept food, and I’m excited to make it a long term staple!

Just ate for the first time at this beautiful, lovely, friendly restaurant. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere delightful. Now that we’re retired hoping to eat breakfast there at least twice a week. Definitely five stars in my book.
