Yeah, that absolutely tracks. We had lunch at Gere-a-Deli and it was in a word... awesome! So good, that I felt the need to leave an immediate review. That's when I saw the 4.8* on 1k reviews. That absolutely tracks. The Rueben we shared was sauerkraut forward but had an excellent balance against the corned beef and mustard. You must enjoy the sauerkraut if you order it...if you aren't a sauerkraut fan, pick anything else...and I do mean anything else. Cookies...yum Panda Paws...yum yum Tater salad...yum yum yum Are you getting the picture. Throw in the staff...who all seemed grand...and although this is 90 minutes across a border...it will be a regular stop from here on. Hello GERE...you had us at DELI!

I was intrigued by this small town sandwich shop that often has a line out the door at lunchtime. Locals assured me that the line moves fast and the food’s worth the wait. They’re right!

This sandwich shop is the best I have been to. The bread is amazing, the portions are very generous and the staff is very nice!

Loved our experience at GERE-a-DELI! We stopped here before and after our ferry ride and had great sandwiches, salads, and cookies both times! Several delicious vegetarian options too.

Great quality food! We ordered several sandwich platters and a birthday cake and it was all delicious and just as we ordered. It was ready on time and our guests ate every bite! Only downside is that they can be very busy because they are so good! Plan ahead to wait a little during peak times. Worth the wait though!

This place is the best hidden gem of sandwich shops! I'm gluten-free and getting an amazing BLT is super exciting. The sandwiches are so good, I think everyone in my family loves this place. I eat here now 2-3 days a week😍

I got the California BLT on sourdough and it was DELICIOUS! My dining companions had the Reuben and the Meatloaf sandwiches and raved. The chocolate chip cookies are big enough to share.

Jesse was super nice by greeting us warmly & taking our order. Our sandwich was phenomenally phenomenal! Then August made us the best cappuccino I have had in a long time. My husband enjoyed his delicious brownie as well. Thanks Gere-a-Deli for employing such wonderful /caring staff and awesome food. Bravo! 👏 👏 👏

Awesome food! Must go when in Anacortes

One of the best full service delis in Anacortes, the food is very fresh and very good. The desserts, Panda Claws, carrot cake, giant cookies, etc. are all great. The prices are reasonable for what you get and they are very accomodations to your requests.

I've been coming here for years for their California BLT on sourdough. Bacon is cooked crispy to perfection. Sandwich comes with a generous spread of smashed avocado. Their house made sourdough is heaven. Just a half sandwich is very filling. They do get very crowded during lunch time with what appears to be a long wait line but they seem to have ample staff working in all corners hence wait time is not so bad. You can also order for pick up and they have a designated area for pick ups. This is very convenient when we're short on time to catch a ferry.

Had some classic NY Deli style food. Loved the experience and will be going back tomorrow.

Solid choice if you're in the mood for a quick bite to eat while in the Anacortes area. Excellent selection of sandwiches and desserts with perfect portion for lunch. Friendly service and short wait time.

Found an absolute gem in Anacortes on a weekend trip from Seattle. One of the best sandwiches I've had in years, welcoming staff, quick service, and fair prices. What more could you need?! This place is clearly a local institution, and it's easy to see why.

This is a great place to get a deli lunch. We've been here once before and it was a blast to go back. The place is a favorite with the Anacortes lunch crowd Today it was Yukon (clam) chowder. YUMMY 😋. Not only is the food great but the restaurant is a blast from the past as well.

I love the food here. So much so they catered my reception rehearsal dinner at my wedding. Cannot go wrong with any sandwiches on the menu. Unfortunately lots of other people know this and the line sometimes is out the door, but they work fast and usually you get service in a half hour.

Always super busy, because it’s great! We love the order online option and find ourselves ordering it often out of convenience. A local staple for us for sure!

Tried the clam chowder, club sandwich, Italian, cheesecake all were excellent prepared to order, quick and delicious. Can’t wait to visit again.

We are addicted to this place. Their tomato soup is surprising. If you are tired of tomato soup, try this one. Their sandwiches are huge, and it took me a few visits before I realized I could get half a sandwich and soup. The gluten-free bread is delicious, which makes the sandwich smaller. While most places charge more if you get gluten-free, they charge less! I highly recommend this restaurant!!

My sandwich was great, coleslaw was good. Beer! Yum. It was packed me arrived and the line was handled professionally and with patience. Great value. We will come again for sure!

Good food, okay'ish services.. A lot of dirty tables and little reason to be asked for a tip BEFORE even getting your food. It's pretty loud and cramped inside with a lot of close-packed tables which means you get bumped and nudged a lot while trying to eat. Nobody's fault that, just not a relaxing cafe.

Our go to lunch place in Anacortes. The CA BLT is my favorite. The potato salad taste reminds me of summer all year! Make sure you try the brownies!!!

Great BLT Californian, that’s all I’ve ever eaten there because it is that good. Great amount of thick bacon and for .20 cents more you get the guacamole over the regular BLT, where I live adding guacamole to anything is easily a $3 charge, .20 cents I’m all over it. We don’t get up to Anacortes that often, but a Saturday drive up north isn’t out of the question

Supremo is perfect. A real sandwich. Big hungry person approved. Sometimes a 1/4 leftover for late afternoon snack

Very nice deli in Anacortes. They have huge brownies and colors and a lot of options on the menu. I ordered the 6in French dip which you can see is really big. Plenty of food and prices are good, check it out!

They catered my Mom's funeral- it was amazing! High quality, huge quantity food and it was very reasonably priced! Phil delivered and set it up for a $25 fee- thank you! I highly recommend them! We arrived at the Church- it was beautifully presented, and delicious!

Situated conveniently downtown. A comfortable, informal atmosphere, but my chowder seemed a bit bland. But I'm sure there were other good choices. Could've just been a coincidence, since it was the 1st time we ate there.

waited 10+ mins to put in an order with no line and plenty of workers passing by the register (no one said anything to me). I got the chicken ciabatta and some like it hot, but they weren’t anything special. wont be coming back.

We hired Gere-a-Deli to cater a 90th birthday celebration for about 50 family and friends at a ballroom where there were no kitchen facilities. First, Phil himself helped me narrow down the menu with such ease, and we decided on lasagna, salad, rolls and appetizers, coffee, tea, and water. All the food was amazing, and the server, Ben was so wonderful that everyone was so pleased at how professional, and personable he was. Setting up, pitchers of water on all tables, nice wine glasses, etc. - the tables, and food table look awesome that people took pictures of it all. Then he bussed the tables and cleaned up so quickly - all without a kitchen. I can't say enough about how wonderful the whole experience was because of Gere-a-Deli - from the beginning to the end. Thank you so much Phil and Ben!!!!

Food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Staff was nice. atmosphere made me feel like I went back to 80’S or 90’S. The line was a bit long but it was only like 5 minutes in line The order process did not. Take long at all we sat down and we got our food the food was delicious and the chips were nice and crispy. Best deli sandwich ever

One of the best Ruebens I've ever had, visiting from St Louis

After a lovely stay in Lopez Island we stopped here for lunch. Staff were top notch, kind and delightful. In total we ordered 2 sandwiches 2 coffees and a Panda Bear pastry (highly recommend for any chocolate lovers). Wow it hit the spot perfectly. A quality lunch spot with incredible service and old school Americana vibe. A must stop in Anacortes.

We have actually eaten here several times. Breakfast and brunch. This is a happening place! And, there's a good reason! Lots of breakfast and lunch options. Order and find a table. If it's nice out, sit outside and watch the pups roll by! The staff is friendly. The location is awesome. The restaurant is clean!

Nice deli in Anacortes. Options galore! It's very tasty, but I'm not sure about the options for gluten-free bread, however, prices should be adjusted for the size of the sandwich given. Way too small! Otherwise, it's a great nice idea in a small town!

Phil helped me pick a menu for my daughter's baby shower, attended by 40 plus women and children. The food was outstanding. Everyone had more than enough, we did not run out. Heard people raving about how good the food was. Ordered the chocolate tuxedo cake and the lemon cake and they were to die for! Great deviled eggs, crab cakes and fruit and cheese boards. There was something for everyone. Had the macaroni salad, the potato salad and chicken mango penne pasta salad and Thai peanut salad. Can't even pick my favorite, they were all so good. Little pinwheel sandwiches were darling. Folks asked, "Where did you get the food?" I was happy to recommend Gere-a-deli and urge them to use them for their next events. I wouldn't hesitate to use for my next gathering. Thank you so much!

A favorite place whenever I'm in town. High ceilings and windows contribute to a great ambiance. Some very nice pastries.

I clearly was an awful customer, though I have no idea how, because the person that took my order was about as angry at me being there as was possible. Fine. What wasn't fine was the sandwich. There is a place I ate at in Montana once that claimed they had "sandwiches like you'd make at home," and we literally laughed out loud when we got them because they were just that - the ingredients you have in your fridge at home, and you even "get" to put them together. This reminded me a lot of that in that it was about the worst ingredients I could have found at home, served to me at what claims to be a deli. I got the Gobbler, and it tasted like the worst canned cranberry sauce with the most bland cream cheese and a tiny bit of turkey on bread that was too soft to hold up to any of it. Just really disappointing, and a clear frontrunner for worst of this trip.

My husband and I have been coming here from Bellevue, WA, for the last couple of years. The food is always phenomenally delicious, and customer service is exceptional. Danny was super friendly and very welcoming. Ashton made the most AWESOME split cappuccino for me and was super pleasant, while helping another employee ( Dillon), do a wonderful job as well. We are so grateful for all the hard work that is done by everyone at this establishment. Please keep up the good work ! Bravo! Bravo!

Very busy place but fast service! Place is full of locals and we found out why. Awesome food, large servings and lots of seating. The large sandwich will feed at least two people and maybe a third. We really enjoyed the "Some like it hot" sandwich. I had the French dip and it was also awesome, the meat was really medium rare!

A delicious meal and reasonably priced too! You know a place is good when there is a line out the door. While we were there eating it was always busy! This is an authentic Deli! Sands, soups, quiche, cheesecake, pastries. I highly recommend Gere-A-Deli!

We were told by RV friends that the grilled cheese sandwiches at Gere-a deli were to die for, and indeed they were. Easily the best I've ever had, and a am a big fan of grilled cheese! Good coleslaw, too. The restaurant was fun, kind of loud and bistro-like, busy but clean and efficient. Stood in line to order, food came quickly to out table. Would happily return!

Despite being lined up out the door we payed, found a seat and were served in no time. Food was fresh and made with attention. Great sandwich shop.

One of our favorite places. It's all excellent. Delicious soups. Creamy tomato is my go-to. Great veggie choices...green giant sandwich, tomato-basil-feta quiche, hummus and veg pita wrap, mozza-tomato on ciapatta, and try a fidalgo (the works) cookie.

This place is great! I come here for lunch every time they are open and I am at our Anacortes office. I get a Turkey Chest Delight....I admit I felt kind of silly saying it at first but the guy who always takes my order thinks it's funny as well. Nice guy, friendly service( more than him work here, this is a busy place!). Be prepared to wait in line for a few minutes, no biggie. I get a slice of fresh pie, a house kombucha on tap, and eat it before my sandwich comes out. I always leave full. Fresh, quality tasting food at a reasonable price( I mean, with inflation everything is expensive...to me at least... so no shame on them!) I've had a number of things off the menu and they were all great. My wife love the pasta they have.

We went during the arts festival and got the BLT and a Chicken Ciabatta and they were insanely good. Molly helped us out there and she was incredibly sweet! The prices are really good and while I didn’t get a desert the carrot cake in the case looked amazing!

Came to Anacortes for the flea market and decided to grab a bite. Very glad we chose this place. Everyone was so friendly and even though it was a simple turkey and bacon sandwich, it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. If you're in the area and looking for a simple but excellent meal, definitely stop in.

Had a great mozzarella ciabatta sandwich. The blend of flavors was very tasty and the toasted bread added just the right crunch and taste.

This is a great spot for grabbing some lunch as they have a ton of different sandwich options. The service was really good and the food was excellent. This area is really pricy but the restaurant was very reasonable. Highly recommended!

The delicious food (wide variety menu) at a competitive price was great, but the aspect which made our (first) visit so memorable, was Gere-a-Deli's authentically wonderful staff (e.g. where does Amiee get her high, positive energy?)!!

“Lost order” in a room with five other customers. Nice staff but curiously disorganized process. Recommend checking on your order after a couple of minutes.

Very good food, decent portion size, and good value! Don't pass this place up, or let the name fool you. They also had a delicious and light cheese cake. Not sure if they make in house or not.

Ten of us needed a reservation for an hour later and we got one for Saturday lunch. The food was good, the price was more than reasonable, but the service was really stand out, prompt, cheerful, accurate. It seemed to me the owners have the right sized staff in front and in back. The food came earlier than I expected, which is really really rare. Thanks GERE a DELI for a much better than expected lunch after a long morning hike with friends.

A necessary and worthwhile stop while visiting Anacortes!

Arguably one of the best delis I've been to in the country. We went twice in three days and I could have ordered at least 10 different things off the menu, if not more. Great service and fast to get out the food. What a gem of a place. The oatmeal everything cookie was also to die for.
