An absolute paradox. Located in a Nowhere place serving food that could compete with ANY PLACE. I will never stop always going here

Such a gem! Everything from the delightful food (served with different kinds of freshly clipped microgreens to complement the dish), thoughtful service (I sat near the kitchen and could hear the staff discussing how to best take orders and get food out quickly), to lovely decor and music (ambiance!). There are two rooms, one more for a date night and another family-friendly room. I can't wait to return.

My wife and I were in the area and decided to stop by to see what the place would be like, and upon walking in, we were very pleased by the look and feel of the place, we were greeted and seated by a super sweet waitress. The food was absolutely delicious, we felt like like we got far more than we paid for. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area, definitely won't be disappointed.

What an amazing establishment! All around, a gem here in beautiful Somerset. We were in town for only 3 days and ate here twice. Their ingredients are consciously sourced, supporting the community and land around them. The dishes are thoughtfully curated... everything was delicious. First visit, we had the mushroom mac n cheese, pumpkin sage risotto, and the apple streudel (oh, the flaky crunch...). All were perfectly balanced, hearty, and mouth-watering. I also love that their selection of ciders/wines are hyper-local. The people who run this place are the best!

One of my favorite restaurants in recent history! Just came here for the first time on a trip from Apple Hill. Luckily I stayed at an Airbnb nearby otherwise I wouldn't have found this GEM! Amazing food from local sources, super nice waitress, cozy atmosphere. I will be back here every time I head to Apple Hill or pass by i50!

Update - I love, love this place. I work at a nearby winery and stop by on my way home periodically to see whats new on the menu (they have great menu btw) and never am disappointed! They have great fresh, local food, beer, wine and ciders and some of the sweeests staff in the area! I recommend Gold Vine to our members often as well as a wonderful local gem and they always come back thanking us. Give them a try! You're going to love them! Popped by for a glass of wine and took home some of the best burgers in town! Awesome lil spot with great staff, food and wine!

What an absolute gem! Just moved out here and I'm so happy this place is down the street from me. The food is amazing and the staff are cheery and make you feel welcome.

An amazing restaurant! The staff is so welcoming, and the food really hits it out of the park! Each dish is beautifully put together and presented. The food is locally sourced and seems really high end. The staff takes the time to point out where the ingredients come from (including if they grew it themselves) which is so cool! Definitely recommend coming to the area just for the food at this restaurant, never mind all the wineries in the area.

Wow what an amazing restaurant and bar! My girlfriend and I had a great lunch here without paying high prices. Our burgers were only $10 each! I highly recommend stopping by here for lunch or dinner. It felt very high end and the service was fantastic. A mother and daughter own and run the place together. It feels like a special gem. Next time we will enjoy free tasting in their wine tasting room located right next door after our meal!

It was a nice surprise. Staff was very friendly and accomdating. The food was really good, we expected a diner or something closer to pub fare. Instead my husband and I shared nicely cooked 16oz ribeye. My son and his wife shared a 16oz New York steak. They raved about it. They also shared a champagne cream Brule. We had green lip mussels for an appetizer. There were 6 mussels, and they were amazing. Definitely would recommend.

We love Gold Vine. Their food is imaginative and delicious. They are so welcoming. We had our 10th wedding anniversary party there. It was joyful.

Anybody living outside the Grizzly Flat area would maybe not know of this gem or know of the new ownership and chef. We were a party of 4, each had something different, each dish delicious. No to go boxes needed. Wine stock has variety and is priced nicely. Dessert was scrumptious. Can't wait to get back.

The food was excellent and my server- I think her name was pipers? (That’s what it said on the receipt anyway)- gave me easily the best service I’ve received since I’ve been in California. Only criticism is I asked to try the lions mane mushroom cakes as an appetizer and she made it happen, but didn’t tell me they would be $16 and they were very small, yet delicious. I still give the food and the service five stars though. Great job

Service is good food was good, just a bit pricey but not too bad. But the inside is kind of noisy lots of echo. Otherwise a nice dinner quality food

Exelent food and service. The restaurant has two sides, I really liked the right side. Very tasteful interior and art. The food was high end and really good. We had risotto and Mahi with a nice mango salad on the side. Just the desert (crème brûlée and bread pudding) was too sweet for me, but that’s probably just me. Definitely recommend this place. They are dog friendly too.

Food was excellent! Service was great. I only have two minor complaints. The table they sat us at had a decorative bar around the table that was at kneecap level. When you try to scoot closer to the table you hit the bar causing any liquid in glasses to go everywhere. Not to mention it hurt. But after a couple glasses of wine that irritation fads. Second thing the presentation of the food was amazing but the condiments that are served with your $40 plus meal are in plastic Togo containers with plastic lids. It reduces the eye appeal. Other than that. Good job Gold Vine Bistro!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of favorite restaurants. The food is delicious and locally sourced. The portions are generous so you won’t ever leave still feeling hungry. The best part of coming here is that they treat us like family. The menu changes each season so there is a lot of variety to try and they offer vegetarian and vegan options. Lisa makes the best soups I have ever had. Each week I look forward to her next soup offering.

Went with a group of friends and the food was fantastic. Service was great too. Going back this week for prime rib

We are so fortunate to have this top notch restaurant at our doorstep! Chef Lisa has exceptional skill and creative talent. Everything we've tried there is absolute perfection, beautifully presented and garnished with tasty microgreens. Their ingredients are locally sourced, which is important to us. And for what you get, the price tag is surprisingly reasonable. Be sure to try their diver scallops and wild mushroom risotto. So delicious!

We enjoyed a weekend brunch. The omelet was cooked to perfection, and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The burger was monsterous. Country Gravy was yummy with fresh baked bread.

Had the vegetarian mushroom cakes. They were delicious. The staff were very welcoming. They were out of clam chowder for the day but I plan to come back for it.

We had dinner there tonight for our anniversary. They had a lot of new people in training so the service wasn't what we had before. I guess many were still learning. The beef bourguignon was flavorful, but the cut of meat was not quite there. The risotto and the clam chowder were delicious.

The high quality food and excellent service are what keep us coming back each week! A beautiful family business surviving the Caldor fire & Covid has proven they love what they do. Give the Bistro a go. They’ll make you feel so special. Definitely our favorite place to relax, enjoy dinner, brunch or lunch paired with a local wine, cider or brew.

Wanted to give a shout out to the Gold Vine Bistro in Somerset. My husband & I are vegan. We checked out their menu before we went but they were out of some of their vegan choices. Chef Justin came out to our table to see what he could cook for us and ended up going to the nearby grocery store for ingredients to make us a vegan meal. Wow! It was delicious and what an effort. Our server, Jessica, was awesome too.

Great service and food. Attention to quality and service is their top priority. Great to see a business that realizes service and quality is an effective business model.

Last minute gathering of family the New Years brunch was great. Food and service was so so good. Cook came out to check how we liked our food. Coffee also was delicious. French Press was we tried.

I went here on New Year's Eve and it was by far the best experience I have ever had. The food was exceptional and the waitress was the cutest person I have ever met.Her name is Piper. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming here again soon.

The waitress (believe part of ownership) was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food, all fresh and amazing! We had the calamari, cod and chips and cod tacos...the deserts are to die for! All amazing. Local Winery wines... Can't wait to go back!

They two ladies that work and own the established are very sweet and welcoming. The owner/cook actually came out of the kitchen and spoke to us. The food was excellent and cooked as requested. Great place to eat with the family.

My wife and i ordered the burgers and we were amazed by their size! Well worth the price. The beer was fantastic coming from Amador brewing Co. Waitress was awesome and polite. This place is a hidden gem in the moutains the drive is long to get there though. If you come here be prepared to eat hearty as the portion sizes here are no joke! Dessert was fantastic!

We had the best dinner last night at the Gold Vine! We hadn't been there in a very long time, (we don't live that close) and had been to apple hill, then scooted over to the other side of hwy 50 to Fairplay and Somerset for some wine tasting. We ended our day at about 4:30 pm at the GV Bistro for dinner. We asked our server/cook/owner? what she recommended and she stated the Moroccan Shortrib. Comes on a bed of couscous, with out of this world sauce! Honestly it was one of the best meals out that we've had lately! The short rib was tender, and not fatty at all. The salad that came with was so fresh, apparently the greens were just delivered from a local source. Thank you so mush for a beautiful and delicious ending to our day!

Ordered calamari and fried zucchini. They actually delivered it to us while we sampled wine nextdoor. Food was good. The batter was light and crispy and didn't overpower the food.

Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, it’s upscale dining without the pretentious atmosphere. Serving sizes are generous and the dishes are very flavorful. I definitely recommend the Grilled Artichoke appetizer and the Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding. The Clam Chowder, the Cabernet Beef Tips, and the Scallops Risotto were great as well. This place is a gem!

Lisa the chef knows her craft and it shows in the quality and presentation. Piper and Qacce run the front of the house with high level of attentiveness and warmth. This is hidden gem of a restaurant. If you dont look for it, it is easy to pass when at the intersection of Mt Aukum and Grizzly Flat Rd. Definitely a destination dining location! Your taste buds will thank you.

This place is truly a gem! Globally experienced chef/owner Lisa trained in US and Japan.. her sushi nights are OFF the CHARTS!!! Be advised to get on their facebook to know when these are happening as this business is boutique and slowly opening up. I am so thrilled that they are here! The service is fabulous. Plates are balanced, delicate, sumptuous. I am grateful for this offering at the four corners in Somerset.

6.50p ... almost no one in the place which closes at 8p ... but they are not taking any "walkins" ... gotta have a reservation ... such garbage ... suggest you try another place .. wish I could give a zero star ... just an AWFUL experience .... now 7.18p and suggest everyone choose the Creekside Cork and Brew in Fairplay ... reasonably close by ...nice location, welcoming staff, bustling place, nice bar ... altogether better place to visit ... I suppose I should say "Thank You" to Gold VIne for sending me to a terrific place 🤣🤣

Great service! The food and wine are delicious! I am so excited to have such a great place so close to home again. My husband loved the beer selection, Amador Brewing and Solid Ground rock!

Thus is not what it use to be. No longer do they have grilled artichokes. The experience is no longer. I will not be back. Sad.

Excellent meal and first rate staff! Truly a "gold mine" of delicious, hearty, gourmet food prepared by an outstanding classically-trained chef who could hold her own in a Michelin Star restaurant. You'll enjoy delicious homemade sauces and dressings, sustainability sourced delectable fish and tender beef, pork and chicken, fresh organic produce and ingredients, followed by hand crafted desserts that make your taste buds sing. We started with delicately fried zucchini and mouth-watering lemon aioli -- my husband caught me scooping up all the remaining aioli with my fingers. My shrimp cocktail was perfect: plump and lightly grilled, served on a bed of microgreens with a zesty cocktail sauce, very tasty! The Greek Salad was excellent as well, tossed in their homemade white balsamic vinaigrette. My husband's Jaegerschnitzel was tender, perfectly fried in a delicious batter, complemented by a rich flavorful mushroom gravy, buttered green beans, and smooth buttery mashed potatoes. Very generous portions as well! A standing ovation goes to their decadent dessert of classic Bananas Foster flambé, prepared with the traditional scrumptious butter, brown sugar & rum sauce. Can't begin to tell you how delightful this dessert was! My husband was a bit jealous when he saw my face and heard my sigh of pure joy. Of course I shared with him, but reluctantly. 😊 The icing on the cake was their customer service: we were treated like honored family from the moment we walked in the door. Gold Vine Bistro is owned and run by a mother & daughter(s) team. Lisa is the extraordinary Executive Chef, and tonight her daughter Piper ran front of house. We had a fantastic experience this evening as we closed out our 26th Anniversary weekend. Thank you Lisa, Piper, and staff for making us feel welcome, and for sending us home happy and very well fed. We'll be back to see you for Valentine's Day!

Cozy restaurant with a good menu. Local wines. Great little get a way restaurant in the foot hills. Perfect pit stop while wine tasting. Lots of love in the food.

The food was really good. The service was attentive even though they only had two servers trying their best to keep everyone taken care of. Then when the food came out I was really impressed at the level of dining considering it’s just a small mountain town establishment. I will definitely be back.

Great food and service in the heart of wine country.

The wait was way longer than expected, even for drinks and the appetizer. There was one waitress seemingly doing everything by herself. With that being said, the food was exceptional. That was the crispiest chicken sandwich I've ever had.

A friend & I decided to go wine tasting in the Fairplay area. After one tasting it was time for lunch. The places to eat are few & far between out there so we did a search for restaurants. The Gold Vine Grill popped up & we headed there. Both of us ordered hamburgers which were good as was the salad I got with my burger. There were several other things on the menu that I'd like to try when & if I'm back in the area. The waitress was friendly, helpful & efficient. If you're out in the Fairplay area looking for a place to grab a bite I'd suggest the Gold Vine Grill.

Service is incredible and I love the casual atmosphere. I enjoy the small plates and salad. The pear gorgonzola salad with the chile relleno del mar makes for a deliciously satisfying dinner.

Another place well worth the drive! For a small town having a restaurant with such delicious food, was surprising. We keep going back. Hint...try the cheesecake.

We had a great experience a couple of weeks ago when we found this little restaurant. The service was great, I loved the hamburger and it is a cozy place excellent to stop to grab a lunch between wineries.

Stopped in here for lunch today cuz I didn't want to drive to a larger City. Not a lot of choices in Somerset, but thank God the gold Vine grill is here. Maybe going back for dinner. They have one heck of a chef & the staff is always first-rate. If you happen to be up around the Placerville wine country, this plce is a must. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Everytime is a good time here. Every meal has been good. Two of my favorite items are the salmon and the risotto. Always call ahead to reserve a table.

Very special place to take your guests from out of town prior to wine tasting. We Loved the carrot 🥕 ginger soup and delicious gourmet sandwiches.

Greatly exceeded expectations for a diner essentially in the middle of nowhere.

Lunch after taking in a few wineries...the black bean & chorizo soup was perfectly spicy, and the turkey reuben panini was so good.
